2026-10-22T12:09:00.000+05:30

The Jolly LLB movie series is coming back with a fourth movie.Arshad Warsi, who plays the lawyer Jolly, will be back in the role.A report from Variety India says the film is being made right now and should finish filming by January 2027.The title of the movie has not been decided yet.

The fourth film will be directed by Umesh Shukla.

It is said to be a prequel, meaning it will show events that happened before the earlier movies.A source told Variety India, “The film is in the final stages of pre-production.It’s not continuing from where the last movie left off. It’s a prequel.”

This is the first time Arshad Warsi is back as the main lawyer since Akshay Kumar took over in the second and third films.

The movie is expected to come out in 2027, but no official date has been shared yet.

Jolly LLB 4 to revisit Arshad Warsi’s character

Arshad Warsi first played Jolly in the 2013 film Jolly LLB, which was written and directed by Subhash Kapoor.

The movie was a comedy about a small-time lawyer who takes on a big case, mixing legal action with humor and social messages.

Akshay Kumar then joined the franchise for Jolly LLB 2 and came back for Jolly LLB 3.

The third film, also directed by Kapoor, had both lawyers named Jolly, with Warsi as Jagdish Tyagi and Kumar as Jagdishwar Mishra.

Since the fourth film is a prequel, it might explore earlier parts of Jagdish Tyagi’s story.

But no details about the story or other cast members have been officially shared yet.

Will familiar faces return?

Saurabh Shukla, who plays Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi, is one of the actors fans might expect to see again.

The first film also had Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, Mohan Kapoor, and Sanjay Mishra.

It’s not clear if any of these actors, except for Arshad Warsi, will be part of the prequel.

The makers have not announced any more casting details.

Ram Gopal Varma is known for showing the hidden parts of Mumbai in movies like Satya and Company.

Now, he's going back to a similar theme but this time the story will focus on the police instead of the gangsters. In Police Company, Harshvardhan Rane will play Daya Nayak, a Mumbai police officer who was involved in some of the city's most important encounters with the underworld.

The film is based on real events and real police officers who worked during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

It will look at how the police worked during a very dangerous time in Mumbai. The story is expected to cover the events, tough police strategies, and dangerous operations that helped fight organized crime in the city.

The film will bring back an era when gang violence and the underworld's power were big parts of Mumbai's crime scene.

The announcement says the story will follow how the police team defeated around 300 gangsters and stopped the underworld's dangerous plans in the city.By showing the police as the main point of view, Police Company offers a new angle on a story that has often been told in Hindi crime movies.

Alongside Harshvardhan Rane, the film also has Fardeen Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Makarand Deshpande, and Ashwini Kalsekar in important roles.

These actors are all well-known and have worked with Ram Gopal Varma on other crime films before.

The casting also brings back some veteran actors who have been part of Varma's crime movie stories over the years.

Their presence helps make the film more intense and character-driven, set against the background of Mumbai's underworld and the police operations against it.

Police Company is produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, and made by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Ram Gopal Varma.

The film is being made under T-Series Films and RGV Company Production.

With real-life inspiration, a look at an important part of Mumbai's history, and Harshvardhan Rane playing Daya Nayak, Police Company marks Varma's return to a genre that he is well known for.

This crime drama is set for a nationwide release in theaters on June 4, 2027.

Ayushmann Khurrana enters the spy universe with Udta Teer and does the exact OPPOSITE of what every other hero does

2026-10-22T09:01:00.000+05:30

For most of the last ten years, whenever Hindi movies found a genre that worked well, the usual move was to make it even bigger.Love stories became more flashy, action movies louder, and spy films turned into huge, grand events with international missions, big stunts, and heroes who could fight whole armies.

Ayushmann’s career has always gone the other way.

Instead of asking how a common genre can be made bigger, some of his best films have asked a more interesting question: what if you put a totally unexpected main character or problem into that genre?

With Udta Teer, Ayushmann seems to be applying that same idea to one of Hindi cinema’s most popular current genres: the spy movie.

The basic setup already shows this isn’t the usual kind of story.

Ayushmann plays a Pakistani spy, but there’s a twist: he loses his memory. Now the man who’s supposed to know everyone else’s secrets is stuck with the biggest mystery of all—his own identity. The trailer treats espionage not just as an excuse for action, but as the base for comedy, mix-ups, satire, and chaos. This is classic Ayushmann style, but there’s an important difference.

Ayushmann hasn’t just picked unusual topics.

He has taken familiar Hindi film genres and changed how the main character can act within them.

Take the romantic comedy.

When he made Vicky Donor, the main romantic hero wasn’t defined by usual obstacles like family status, an ex, or parental disapproval. He was a sperm donor trying to deal with love, secrets, and a strange job.

With Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the usual question of whether the boy and girl would get married was replaced by a more personal issue around male sexual performance.

But the approach stayed easy to follow, funny, and rooted in family life.

Bala took a familiar story about love and confidence and placed premature baldness at its center.

Dream Girl turned a comedy of mistaken identities into something even weirder with a man whose female voice creates a second persona that many people want.

Then came Andhadhun, where even the hero’s relationship with the truth was unclear.

Ayushmann’s blind pianist wasn’t the typical good guy Hindi thrillers were used to.

The pattern is hard to miss.

Ayushmann doesn’t really reject mainstream genres. He likes to enter them through a different door. That makes Udta Teer especially interesting because few Hindi film genres have as many set rules as the spy movie.

The modern spy in movies is usually super-smart.

He remembers everything—license plates, faces, codes, weapons, escape routes, and secrets like a machine. His appeal comes mostly from the idea that he’s always one step ahead of everyone else.Udta Teer starts by taking that advantage away.Ayushmann’s spy can’t even fully trust his own memory.

Ayushmann Khurrana enters the spy universe with Udta Teer and does the exact opposite of what every other hero does.

This is a small but powerful twist with a lot of funny potential.

Instead of making the audience amazed by how much the hero knows, the movie can make them laugh at everything he doesn’t know.Instead of a powerful secret agent in control, the main character might find himself in a world that knows more about him than he does.

That twist also matches one of Ayushmann’s best acting skills.

He is very good at playing men who don’t have control. In his movies, his characters get nervous, lie badly, get humiliated in front of their families, worry about what others think of them, struggle with self-doubt, and sometimes end up in situations they can’t explain without making things worse.

For other kinds of stars, always being in control might be necessary to keep up the hero image.

Ayushmann's on-screen presence has often thrived on losing control.

And that might be precisely what makes his entry into the spy genre intriguing.

The genre doesn't need another Ayushmann Khurrana pretending to be a traditional action hero.

It could become something unique when the genre itself adapts to what Ayushmann naturally brings.

The result might be something Hindi cinema has rarely tried on this scale: a mainstream spy-patriotic comedy where the central humor isn't that the protagonist is incompetent, but that circumstances have stripped a potentially capable spy of the one thing every agent needs — certainty about who he is.

That's also why Ayushmann's casting seems less like an actor being forced into a genre, and more like the genre being re-shaped around an actor.

This has been one of the fascinating constants of his career.

He doesn't necessarily redefine genres by breaking their rules.

He does it by introducing a disruptive element.

If Udta Teer succeeds in doing the same, Ayushmann Khurrana won't just be entering the spy genre.

He may once again have done something that has quietly defined his most interesting work: entering a familiar Bollywood genre, adjusting its rules, and walking out with a version that looks distinctly his own.

The biggest competitor for King is not another superstar or another film. It is Shah Rukh Khan’s own box-office history

2026-10-22T07:01:04.909+05:30

Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 was historic. After being away from leading roles for four years, he returned with Pathaan, which collected around ₹1,050 crore worldwide, followed by Jawan, which surpassed that with over ₹1,148 crore.Together, these two films generated nearly ₹2,200 crore globally, reinforcing his status as one of Indian cinema's biggest superstars.

Now, three years later, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for his next theatrical release, King, directed by Siddharth Anand and set for a December 24, 2026, release.

The biggest competition for King isn't another film, actor, or storyline — it's Shah Rukh Khan's own box-office history.

Before Pathaan and Jawan, a global collection of ₹300–400 crore was considered impressive.

But Shah Rukh Khan changed the conversation by delivering two massive hits, each exceeding ₹1,000 crore. In doing so, he might have raised the bar so high that even a successful film could now be seen as underwhelming.

Fans and trade observers are already wondering if King can cross ₹1,000 crore, surpass Pathaan, or even beat Jawan.

Imagine a film collecting ₹600–700 crore worldwide. That would be extraordinary for most Hindi films, but might be considered a disappointment simply because Shah Rukh Khan has delivered bigger hits in the past.

King's scale is also a major talking point.

Reports suggest the film is being made on a budget of ₹450 crore, excluding publicity and Shah Rukh Khan's pay.Siddharth Anand later denied these figures, so the actual cost remains unclear.Nevertheless, the film is being positioned as an ambitious action spectacle, and its commercial performance will naturally draw significant attention.

Its December 24 release comes with its own challenges.

The Christmas and New Year period is typically a great time for a big opening, but December 2026 is already packed with major films, including Hollywood blockbusters like Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. This competition for screens and premium formats could affect King, especially if it aims for the extended theatrical runs that helped Pathaan and Jawan reach their historic numbers.

Shah Rukh Khan's prolonged absence from the big screen could work in his favour, as audiences haven't seen him in a leading role since Dunki (2023).

However, there's a key difference between his return with Pathaan and his upcoming release.

Pathaan marked his comeback after a difficult phase at the box office, and audiences were eager to see if he could reclaim his position.

With King, there's no such question about his stardom.Instead, audiences are expecting another spectacular entertainer, complete with memorable dialogues, breathtaking action, and larger-than-life moments.

The reunion with Siddharth Anand adds to these expectations.

Having delivered a historic blockbuster together, the two will inevitably face comparisons with Pathaan. The challenge for King will be to offer something fresh rather than merely recreate the formula that worked so brilliantly in 2023.

The film also marks Shah Rukh Khan's much-anticipated big-screen collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan, which will generate extra curiosity.

However, for the film to succeed beyond the initial excitement, its story, performances, and emotional appeal will have to connect with audiences.

If King earns ₹700 crore worldwide instead of ₹1,000 crore, it wouldn't automatically make the film a failure.

Its actual profitability will depend on production costs, distribution arrangements, marketing expenditure, and revenues from digital, satellite, and music rights.

A movie can make a lot of money at the box office without making a lot of profit, while a film that makes less money can still be very profitable if the costs are kept low.

The funny thing is that Pathaan and Jawan, the movies that brought back Shah Rukh Khan's box office power, might now be the standard people use to judge every new film.

If King makes another movie that earns over 1,000 crores, it will really solidify his amazing career. But if it makes less money and is still a big hit, should that really be seen as a bad result?

After all, no actor, no matter how famous, can be expected to make a record-breaking hit with every movie they act in.

The biggest worry about King isn't that Shah Rukh Khan might fail to make another big hit.

It's that Bollywood has gotten to a point where even a big hit from him might not be seen as good enough anymore.

Sonu Nigam has apologized to people from Karnataka for some controversial comments he made that were connected to the Pahalgam terror attack. This happened before his upcoming concert in Bengaluru on October 24.He shared a video message where he spoke about the issue after a pro-Kannada group called Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) asked the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to stop the concert.

In his video, Sonu said he would be willing to apologize many times if it helped keep his relationship with people in Karnataka strong.

He started the video by speaking in Kannada.

“When you love someone and want the relationship to last, you don't mind saying sorry a thousand times,” he said.

He then added, “Dear family, if anything I said accidentally hurt you, I'm really sorry.

I'm not the type of person who would ever hurt anyone, especially the people from Karnataka who have given me so much love and respect over the last 30 years.I don't want any small misunderstanding to damage our relationship or cause any bad feelings.”

What did Sonu Nigam say about the Pahalgam attack?

The controversy started in April 2025 when Sonu performed at East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Bengaluru.

During the concert, a fan kept asking him to sing in Kannada.Sonu talked about his long love for Karnataka and its audience, but he also said he didn't like the way the request was made.

The issue got more attention later when his comments were linked to the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.

In that attack, 26 people were killed when gunmen opened fire on tourists at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sonu’s comments led to criticism from some members of the Kannada-speaking community, and the issue remained a point of contention.

Sonu Nigam’s Bengaluru concert

Sonu is set to perform in Bengaluru on October 24.

KRV’s request to cancel the concert has brought the controversy back into the spotlight just before the event.

Bombay High Court directs makers of Tu Hai Meri Kiran to deposit Rs. 8.85 crores before release

2026-10-21T11:26:00.000+05:30

The Bombay High Court on Monday, October 19, decided that Echelon Productions cannot release or use the movie Tu Hai Meri Kiran, which stars Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, unless it pays Rs.8.85 crores along with 15% annual interest to AND Movie Products LLP, as reported by Live Law Biz.The film was planned to come out in theatres on October 23, 2026.

The court stopped the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran because of a disagreement over Rs.8.85 crores. The court told the makers to deposit that amount before the film can be released.Justice Amit Borkar agreed with AND Movie Products LLP's request to protect their investment and rights. The judge said that stopping the film would ignore the money and work that went into making it, but also said the film should not be used for profit until the co-producer's money is secured.

The dispute started from a co-production agreement signed on March 27, 2024, where both sides agreed to contribute Rs.

7.50 crore each, plus GST, for a total budget of Rs.15 crores plus GST.AND Movie Products said they invested Rs.8.85 crore between March 2024 and January 2025 but were not paid back as agreed.

According to the agreement, Echelon was supposed to return the money within 13 months of signing the contract or three weeks before the film's first release, whichever came first.

The court said the deadline was April 27, 2025, and the later release date could not extend that.

The issue got worse when a cheque for Rs.

7.50 crore issued by Echelon through Vishal Rana bounced in January 2026.AND Movie Products then went to the High Court after the film's release date was announced.

Echelon argued that the money would be paid based on the film's earnings and mentioned that AND Movie Products participated in Instagram promotions.

But the court said those activities did not cancel the need to repay or get the co-producer's consent before making deals with others.

The court told Echelon to deposit Rs.

8.85 crores, with 15% interest calculated from the investment dates, within three working days.If they don't, the film can't be used for profit.Echelon also has to share all current and planned deals, keep the film's money in a separate account, and report regularly. They must get AND Movie Products' approval before signing any deals and fix or remove any credits that don't match what was agreed.

The court said the deposited money will be kept as a security and can’t be taken out without court or arbitration approval.

It didn’t ask Vishal Rana to pay the money now, saying the final responsibility will be decided through arbitration. The court also refused Echelon's request to delay the judgment.

Ramayana advance booking may get DELAYED due to revenue-sharing tussle; distributors demand 60% share in Week 1

2026-10-21T07:49:54.239+05:30

The early bookings for the movie Ramayana, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, were supposed to start today, October 20, on the special day of Dussehra. However, by 9:30 am, very few cinemas across the country had started taking bookings for this highly anticipated film.Bollywood Hungama reports that a disagreement between the people who distribute the movie and those who show it in theaters about how the money is shared is one of the main reasons for this delay.

A source from the industry told , "In general, for big movies, the distributor gets 52.5% in the first week, 45% in the second, and 37.5% in the third.

However, the distributors of Ramayana are reportedly asking for 60% in the first week, 50% in the second, and 40% in the third. This is much higher than the usual profit shares for big-budget films.Because of this, the theater owners are worried and not willing to agree to these terms.Right now, there are discussions happening between the two sides."

The same source added, "If both sides don't reach an agreement, the advance bookings might still be delayed.

Everyone wants to release Ramayana with a big celebration, but when it comes to money matters, both sides need to agree."

It's still unclear if the two groups can resolve their issues soon and start the bookings across the country.

As of 9:30 am, only one cinema in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, INOX Korum Mall in Thane, has begun taking bookings for Ramayana.Another major cinema, AMB Cinemas Kapali in Bengaluru, has also started bookings.

Ramayana is set to release worldwide on November 5.

Imran Khan’s plea against ‘Leave India’ notice to be heard on October 26; Bombay High Court seeks Maharashtra government’s inclusion

2026-10-20T11:30:00.000+05:30

The Bombay High Court is set to consider Imran Khan's request to challenge a directive from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) that ordered him to leave India by October 26.Khan is objecting to the notice he received on October 14, claiming that it was issued without giving him a chance to explain his side and broke the rights he has as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder.

The court has scheduled a hearing for October 26 to discuss Khan's plea.

The court also wants the Maharashtra government to be included as a party in the case to check if Khan has any criminal background.

The issue was brought up before a panel of judges, including Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna, on Monday.

Khan's lawyer, Venkatesh Dhond, told the court that Khan received the notice after trying to attend a protest, but got stopped midway and had to return.Dhond said the central government had been given a copy of the petition and asked for an early hearing on October 21, but the court has delayed it to October 26 to give the FRRO time to get instructions on the case.

During the hearing, the court asked Khan's lawyers to include the Maharashtra government as a party so that the court can check if Khan has any criminal record.

The court said, "Are there any criminal records?Bring the State as a party, so that in case. This is a local matter. So make State of Maharashtra a party."

In his petition, Khan has raised concerns about how the directive was issued on October 14.

He says the authorities acted quickly without giving him a chance to explain and bypassed the legal protections he is entitled to as an OCI holder. He also claims that the directive was influenced by social media campaigns against him by political figures.

According to the petition, the directive was issued because of public pressure and not through a fair assessment.

Khan is asking the court to cancel the October 14 notice and stop it from being enforced. He also wants the court to prevent the authorities from taking steps like deportation, issuing lookout notices, blacklisting him, or changing his OCI status. He also wants the court to get the internal records that led to the directive.

The directive came after Khan was briefly detained by police for taking part in protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

This happened after BJP leader Kirit Somaiya filed an FIR in Mumbai, alleging public-order violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Khan's petition, filed on October 17, criticizes the speed with which the FRRO issued the directive after these events.

He argues that the authorities did not follow the proper procedure before taking action that could impact his ability to stay in India.

Khan's petition also brings up the legal protections available to OCI holders.

He argues that the FRRO ignored Section 7D of the Citizenship Act, which outlines the process for canceling OCI registration. On October 17, the FRRO issued a separate show-cause notice asking Khan why his OCI status should not be canceled under that section. However, Khan has not challenged that notice in this petition.

This distinction is important because the October 14 directive asking him to leave India and the show-cause notice about his OCI registration are separate actions.

They confirmed that they are currently gathering information to find out who the accused are.

The incident happened near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu when Shroff was reportedly coming back from a football practice in his car.

According to initial reports, some unknown armed men arrived on a motorcycle and shot multiple rounds at his car before fleeing the scene.

Shroff reportedly avoided serious injuries, though some reports said he had minor cuts from broken glass.

His driver, named Firdosh in the reports, was shot in the left arm.A nearby autorickshaw driver was also injured during the shooting.

After the shooting, police officials blocked off the area while forensic teams checked the scene and collected empty bullet casings and other possible evidence.

The 15 teams are looking at CCTV footage, checking possible escape routes, and doing technical checks to identify the shooters.

The police are also checking whether the attackers had followed Shroff’s movements before the attack.

They are also looking into an unconfirmed social media message that is said to be linked to people connected with the Lawrence Bishnoi group. However, this claim has not been verified, and the police have not found a clear motive for the attack.

The incident also led to a response from Maharashtra’s political leaders.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly called the Mumbai Police Commissioner and told them to investigate the case quickly.Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later visited Shroff’s home to check on his condition.

With the FIR registered against three unknown people and 15 teams working on the investigation, the Mumbai Police continue to examine forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and other leads to figure out what happened and who is responsible.

2026-10-19T12:29:00.000+05:30

The year 2026 has not been a great year for Pan-India movies, but Jailer 2 stands out as a big exception. The film starring Rajinikanth started very strong and has kept its popularity across the country. In the North, the Tamil version of the film has done well, with good turnout in single-screen theaters and smaller multiplexes, even though it didn’t show in big national multiplex chains in any language.

Cinemas have replaced other films like Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar with Jailer 2’s Hindi version.

The response to the film has been so strong that MovieMax decided to show Jailer 2 in the middle of the night at two of its theaters — one in Mumbai and one in Pune.

While midnight shows have become more common since the pandemic, this is the first time a South Indian film has had such shows in the North Indian market, in its original language.Interestingly, midnight shows are usually on weekends, but MovieMax Gold will also show Jailer 2 at 1:45 am on Monday, October 19.

The Hindi version of the film, named Rajini: The Jailer 2, is also doing well.

It earned Rs.2.56 crores on Thursday, October 15, then Rs.2.41 crores on Friday. The earnings jumped to Rs.3.63 crores on Saturday, and it’s expected to cross Rs.4 crores on Sunday. These numbers might seem small, but they are important because the film didn’t show in big multiplex chains like PVR INOX, Cinepolis, and Miraj. This is because of its four-week OTT window, as these chains usually want an eight-week gap between a movie’s theatrical release and its streaming launch.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “At first, Rajini: The Jailer 2 had limited showings because it didn’t play in national chains.

Also, it shared screens with new films like Prahaar and Nayyi Navelli, as well as the successful holdover film Drishyam The Conclusion. However, the response to Jailer 2 has been amazing, while Nayyi Navelli hasn’t done well.Prahaar has good reviews, but it’s mostly attracting an elite audience in multiplexes.”

The source added, “There is huge demand for Rajini: The Jailer 2.

With Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar not performing well, many cinemas have started replacing their showings with those of Rajini: The Jailer 2.”

For example, Mumbai’s Citylight cinema has removed Nayyi Navelli, the Marathi film Sohla, and Drishyam The Conclusion from Monday, October 19.

Instead, it will show two shows each of Prahaar and Rajini: The Jailer 2.The source explained, “Prahaar is a local story that has found an audience in Mumbai, so it has kept some showings in certain theaters where its performance has been good. However, in several places, especially in North India, even Prahaar has lost showings to Jailer 2.”

The growing demand for Rajini: The Jailer 2 is also shown in the increasing number of showings.

On Thursday, the Hindi version had 1,730 showings across the country. This number almost doubled to 3,266 on Friday and then rose to 3,690 on Saturday.

Several cinemas have decided to focus almost entirely on showing Jailer 2.

For example, Maratha Mandir cinema will play three shows of the Hindi version each day, while Kasturba in Malad will also screen three Hindi shows along with one Tamil showing.

The source added, “Rajini: The Jailer 2 can now comfortably continue its theatrical run until Diwali.

Rajinikanth’s previous release, Coolie (2025), earned Rs.34 crores in its Hindi lifetime (it had a release in national chains).Jailer 2 should aim to beat this, which will be a big achievement, especially since it doesn’t have support from national multiplexes.”

An industry insider said, “Monday, October 19, will almost feel like a holiday, while Dussehra will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 20.

Rajini: The Jailer 2 can do very well on both days.Dubbed action films usually do well in Gujarat, but the region hasn’t fully joined in yet because people are still celebrating Navratri.”

Expect to see collections increasing in Gujarat starting from October 20th or 21st.

Amit Trivedi makes a SHOCKING confession about Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking: “Mujhe film dekh ke kuch samaj nahin aaya!”; reveals Shilpa Rao STRUGGLED to get him his Bollywood break

2026-10-19T10:26:00.000+05:30

Amit Trivedi talked to Komal Nahta and shared how he became a music composer. He started by saying, "I used to do stage musical shows. Then I worked in advertising for 4-5 years, and also in television.I wanted to do something in the field of independent music, but making films was never my goal. Also, in my family, no one was really into films."

He said, "While I was working in advertising, I met Shilpa Rao.

She used to sing a lot of ad songs in the studios.I really liked her voice. She was also a great person, and we became close friends. One day, I told her I wanted to work with her on an album. She agreed. The first song we made together was 'Dhol Yaara Dhol' (which later became part of *Dev D*, 2009).I wanted to make a music video for it and send it to MTV or Sony. But Shilpa was very ambitious. She took those songs to film directors."

When asked if Shilpa Rao struggled to help him, Amit Trivedi laughed and said, "In a way, you can say that!"

He continued, "One day, she called me and said, 'I met Anurag Kashyap sir and played some of our work.

Are you coming to meet him?' I replied, 'Why are you doing this?We were planning an album and wanted to go independent. Why are you getting involved with a film? This is not my scene!' I was not interested because I was naturally shy.The film world felt very overwhelming and scary to me.I thought I was doing fine in my small world! But Shilpa pulled me into it, and that’s how I first met Anurag sir."

Amit Trivedi added, "I had some doubts, but Anurag sir made me feel comfortable.

It was around the time *Black Friday* (2007) had just come out, and *No Smoking* (2007) was in production. He even showed us a rough version of the film without the music or dubbing. However, I didn’t really get the film.I started thinking, what would I say to him if he asked, 'How did you like the film'?"

*No Smoking* starred John Abraham in the lead, along with Paresh Rawal and Ranvir Shorey in supporting roles.

Prahaar stays low on Saturday; Rajkummar Rao starrer collects Rs. 3.25 crore on Day 2

2026-10-19T01:32:00.000+05:30

The movie Prahaar, starring Rajkummar Rao, is not doing well at the box office. On the second day, it hasn't gained much in terms of earnings.Early reports show that the film made between Rs.3 crore and Rs.3.25 crore on Saturday, bringing the total for two days to Rs.5.25 crore.

Prahaar didn't see a big increase on Saturday, especially since it started with lower numbers.

This could be a problem for its overall performance in the long run.Although the film has been well received by critics, the audience doesn't seem to be very interested, which is hurting its box office growth.

Looking ahead, the first weekend of Prahaar is expected to make around Rs.

9 crore.Reaching the Rs.20 crore mark in India might be difficult. The film is also doing poorly in other countries, and with the high production costs, it may end up being a financial loss for the producers.

Prahaar is facing competition from other films like Jailer 2, Nayyi Navelli, and Drishyam 3, which are also affecting its performance.

This movie is expected to have the biggest opening weekend in Tamil cinema history and is close to becoming the top-grossing Tamil film of all time, surpassing the 8-year-old film 2.0, which also starred Rajinikanth.Interesting fact: it took another Rajinikanth movie eight years later to beat that record.

The film made 130 crores on Thursday, then 85 crores on Friday.

Box office numbers so far suggest the third day will be around 110 crores, taking the total to 325 crores. The fourth day is also expected to be over 100 crores, which means the total for the weekend will hit over 425 crores. That would put Jailer 2 in the list of biggest opening weekends in Indian cinema and the highest ever for a Tamil film.

There's a huge Rajinikanth fan frenzy everywhere.

Even at 76, he's still making amazing movies and doing really well at the box office.

Frontal nudity gets censor clearance! CBFC retains 2-second adult magazine shot in Doosra; Abhinay Deo calls it an “achievement”

2026-10-18T12:54:00.000+05:30

The trailer for the movie Doosra, which was recently shown, has made a lot of noise because of how the story is told. The film not only brings back Sourav Ganguly's famous moment after India won a big match against England in the 2002 NatWest Series final, but it also shows the story of Tara (played by Plabita Borthakur), a young girl growing up in a very traditional family in Rajasthan.Usually, movies like this are given a 'U' or 'U/A' certificate, but Doosra has been given an 'A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).What's interesting is that the director, Abhinay Deo, chose to accept the adult rating instead of agreeing to some changes. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, he explained why he made that choice.

When asked about the certification the film received from the CBFC, Abhinay Deo said, "It's an adult movie because of a few scenes.

I was at the censor screening and they asked me, 'What rating do you want?' I suggested a U/A rating. They agreed but asked us to cut three scenes.I told them, 'If we can get the film passed with an A-rating and without cuts, I'm okay with that.' They said, 'If you are okay with an adult rating, we won't cut any shot.' I agreed."

Abhinay Deo added, "It's an achievement because nowadays, even films with an 'A' rating still have to go through cuts."

One of the scenes that led to the 'A' rating shows Tara's father (played by Ankur Vikal) finding her with an adult magazine during her childhood.

The scene includes a clear, two-second shot of a nude woman in the magazine. The CBFC is usually strict about showing nudity on screen, and many films have had to be cut for such content. But in this case, the board allowed the shot to stay in the film.

Abhinay Deo said, "Those 2-3 shots, which they wanted to cut, were important to the story.

One was the magazine shot. Then, we had a scene related to the Babri Masjid issue. They told me, 'Do a little less, change it.' I told them I didn't want to change the film."

Was Abhinay Deo worried that the adult rating would turn away younger audiences?

He replied, "No, because this isn't a movie for teenagers to watch, though it is important for them."

Doosra will be released in theaters on October 23.

An exclusive report says that Kartik Aaryan will be the main actor in Karan Johar's most ambitious film, Kaaliya.

15 years after Delhi Belly, Abhinay Deo could make HISTORY again with Doosra; may become the ONLY director in Indian cinema to have two films released WITHOUT interval

2026-10-17T13:00:00.000+05:30

The trailer for Doosra was recently shared and has generated a lot of interest because of its unique way of telling a story. The movie highlights Sourav Ganguly's amazing cricket career, which leads up to India's big win against England in the 2002 NatWest Trophy final. At the same time, it follows Tara (played by Plabita Borthakur), who is growing up in a strict and traditional family in Rajasthan. It's interesting because many movies today are over three hours long, with some going up to three hours and 45 minutes.Doosra is different since it's only 78 minutes long. It's directed by Abhinay Deo, who directed the 2011 film Delhi Belly, which was also shown without an interval. That was unusual back then and got a lot of attention. With Doosra being even shorter, can Abhinay Deo do it again and make another movie without an interval?

Source had a conversation with Abhinay Deo about Doosra.

When asked if the film could be shown without a break, he said, "Ideally, there shouldn't be an interval in this film.In other countries, they never have intervals. But nowadays, most theaters want a break. In English movies, they stop the film in the middle.Theaters aren't just about showing films. They make more money from popcorn and drinks than from tickets. That's a different issue altogether."

He added, "Right now, I don't know. It's a very short film—only 78 minutes.Adding an interval in a movie like Doosra would break the flow."

It's interesting to note that if Abhinay Deo convinces the theaters to show Doosra without an interval, he would become the only director in Indian cinema to have made two films that were released without an interval.

When we mentioned this to him, Abhinay laughed and agreed, "That is true."

Doosra is set to release in theaters on October 23.

Prahaar Box Office takes a DULL start; Rajkummar Rao starrer opens at Rs. 2.25 crore

2026-10-17T10:49:00.000+05:30

The movie Prahaar, led by Rajkummar Rao, started off slowly at the box office in India, which was expected because the promotional efforts were not very strong.Early estimates show that the courtroom drama made between Rs.2 crore and Rs.2.50 crore on Friday, matching what was expected before the release.

In the morning, it seemed like the movie might only make about Rs.1.50 crore on opening day, but it picked up some speed in the evening and night shows. Most of the business comes from big chain theaters, and the film hasn't done well outside of urban areas.

Media reviews for the film are positive, but it's still unclear if that will lead to a big jump in earnings over the weekend.

The goal is to double the earnings on Saturday, but that seems really difficult.

The production costs for Prahaar are also high because of delays and reshoots, but that's something for another time to talk about.

Nayyi Navelli takes a slow start; Yami Gautam starrer opens at Rs. 3.25 crore on Friday Box Office

2026-10-17T07:40:49.303+05:30

The horror comedy movie Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam, has started slowly at the box office in India.Early estimates show the film has made between Rs.3 crore and Rs.3.50 crore, which matches what was expected before it released. However, the film might have done better if it had been packaged more effectively as a horror-comedy mix.

The movie has performed better in non-national chains, probably because the trailer gave a strong local feel.

But overall, the reports are not great, which suggests the film might struggle in the long run.The business started with Rs.3 crore in the morning, but by the evening and night, it climbed a bit to around Rs.3.25 crore.

The film was made with a higher budget, and it needs to earn at least Rs.

40 crore to break even in theaters.Right now, that goal seems very far off.But as everyone knows, the box office can be unpredictable.

On-ground reports and media reviews for Nayyi Navelli are not very positive.

However, the increased earnings on Saturday might give some indication of how the film will perform in the future.

BREAKING: Jailer 2 ends with the promise of third part; Hrithik Roshan’s massy special appearance has a Chulbul Pandey connection

2026-10-16T16:30:00.000+05:30

The much-anticipated film Jailer 2 was finally released today and started off on a strong note. The first film was remembered for Rajinikanth's powerful performance, the songs, and the exciting moments, as well as the many special appearances.Jailer 2 continues that tradition. There's one more special guest this time, and it's none other than Hrithik Roshan.Warning: Spoilers ahead.

There were already rumors before the release that Hrithik would appear in Jailer 2.

And those rumors turned out to be true.Hrithik appears at a key moment in the story and helps out Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth. He plays a cool and confident character named Roddy.Roddy says that Tiger helped him 20 years ago and he's grateful.Hrithik also speaks Tamil, which adds to the charm of the scene.

Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan puts his sunglasses behind his shirt collar, which instantly reminds people of Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) and his style from the Dabangg series.

That's not the only thing.

Hrithik also wears his sunglasses in the same way Rajinikanth does, right in front of the superstar himself. This moment is sure to create a big reaction in the cinema.

Jailer 3 is expected soon.

The first Jailer ended in a way that didn't suggest a sequel was coming.

But Jailer 2 clearly hints that a third film is definitely on the way.The final scene of the movie features Vijay Sethupathi, which will surely be a hit with the audience.
