When writing a Scholarship Application Letter, you should write the application on your own. When you consider that the particular organization or institution will be responsible for paying all the expenses a student will have, it is important to recognize that they will choose students they deem excellent so that their funds are not wasted. Students who excel in their academic performance are usually the most likely to be awarded scholarships.

Breaking Down the Content in Your Scholarship Application Letter

The Scholarship Application Letter should have information that concerns your immediate academic performance and career. You should clearly indicate your level of education, where you studied and the qualifications attained in each education level. This is normally done within the first introductory paragraph. You can also talk about your interests that are in tandem with the field of study you chose and also state the reasons you want to further your education.

The second paragraph of the Scholarship Application Letter should focus on your leadership skills and strengths. Touch on topics that are non-academic such as volunteer or community work, extracurricular activities and awards. You can include academic achievements that have been earned during your school life such as being school club president, graduating with honors or being valedictorian.

The third paragraph of your Scholarship Application Letter should continue stating the reasons why you are the perfect candidate for the scholarship and should therefore be considered. Be direct and professional but instead of stating directly that you require the scholarship money, mention how you will utilize it; be it for books, housing, tuition or supplies.

The committee should be able to see why you deserve the particular scholarship in the fourth paragraph of your Scholarship Application Letter. Show exactly how the funds would be utilized wisely to further your education. Place special emphasis on your talents at the same time focusing on your ability to see the college program through.

The closing paragraph of the Scholarship Application Letter should reiterate your interests in the particular scholarship. At this point you can restate your career and educational goals and how the scholarship will play a major role in helping you achieve them. However, be careful in the diction used so that you do not use redundant phrases and words that might have been used in earlier paragraphs.

Additionally, the closing paragraph of the Scholarship Application Letter should also be used to convince the committee that as a potential beneficiary, you are a capable and bright student. This is your opportunity to let them know that apart from providing you with the scholarship for your education, they also make an informed and wise investment. You can format your Scholarship Application Letter to either 1 or 2 pages.

Finalizing your Scholarship Application Letter

You can add or remove content and any edits and corrections can be made if necessary. The Scholarship Application Letter should be read and reviewed several times to see if there are any typing and grammatical errors as well as checking for organization, layout and clarity.

When I met with students at schools higher I recently had the opportunity to ask some questions about using technology as individuals, with the possibility of participation, both within and outside the classroom. Although I was surprised to discover that many are actively using Twitter, widespread use of Facebook and YouTube was more in line with my expectations. One student also reported using Tumblr account. No one was familiar with Google + or LinkedIn. No one had taken an online course.

This was my very quick informal survey of about 40 students. In retrospect, there are many more questions than I do – do not have smart phones, personal computers, or iPad? Do not read eBooks? My next thoughts were about how they compare with others of their age, and so began my search for more formal studies of technology use among adolescents.

Communication, computer and free online

Communication methods: According to a 2011 study by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, text messaging is a popular form of communication for teenagers, between 12 and 17. The results are that 75% of teens send text messages with an average of 60 texts sent per day, a little ‘since 2009. This type of communication is more common to conduct phone calls (mobile and fixed), meeting in person, social networks, IM or e-mail.

properties: The Pew survey also found that the properties of smart phones is increasing with 23% of teens surveyed reported that they have these devices. Those who own smartphones are also “more likely to have used a Tablet PC to go online last month.” Ownership of mobile phones is 77% for ages 12 to 17.

connect and share online. Adolescents are actively using social media presentation Pew cites the fact that nearly 80% of online teens are using social networking sites like Facebook. This number has increased since 2006, when a similar study found that 55% of adolescents were using these sites. Twitter is the latest platform to show growth in this age group has increased from 8% in 2009 to 16% in 2011. Earlier this year, Lee Rainie Pew describes as “The New Normal in the digital age”, which includes greater connectivity through mobile devices, Internet access and social networking systems. According to Rainie, Millennials (ages 18-34) who use Facebook have an average of 318.5 “friends”. We are becoming more and more contact with people across different networks, such as “users and information providers”, and changing where and how to access information and resources through a combination of online forms and other forms of media.

learning: Although none of the students I spoke with reported an online course that can be worked with some of the online components of their traditional courses like the pages of Web-based class, and use online resources, both within and outside their physical classroom. The online learning initiatives at the state level may require students to experiment with online courses before graduation. Online Learning : top 5 issues of federal policy brief [PDF] published this month by the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) noted that “over 55% of public school districts. offers online courses “Among the recommendations for a more effective online learning for adolescents and young students are the best online teacher training, increased funding for Internet access and the development of learning materials and research on online learning model and

expectations for higher education

learning environments:

Adolescents with experience of online learning has some familiarity with the learning systems commonly used functions of management and communication-related, as discussed under , e-mail and calendars. These students can expect the same access to online learning materials and schedules, even if their university courses are mainly face to face. These students can also expect to interact with their teachers and classmates, in groups and one to one-in online via e-mail and other technological tools.

Literacy Learning: Teenagers who have had experience with various technologies and online communication has some skill with these tools and be able to apply in their courses. However, not all students, including those using the technology for themselves, are ready for online learning, when then go to college. The new information, media and digital literacy are needed to succeed in these environments. There is also the continuing problem of a digital divide between K-12 students who have access to technology and the Internet and those who do not. As online learning options in high school and college students with no previous experience can be a major disadvantage.

The anticipation and preparation for these students – from higher education administrators, curriculum designers and instructors and courses – should include plans for a number of students who possess a wide range of skills and support needs. Learning online is about to play an important role in student learning at various levels. For high school students, urges iNACOL “deserve full access to courses of the Internet and online content and resources to help you prepare for college / career ready.” I follow the latest research on the use of technology and preferences of these young students as the progress in higher education, and look forward to hearing more from those I have met a few weeks ago.

Last week I had the privilege of meeting with the high school students and school to discuss blogging. His teacher and I collaborated on Skype and e-mail before the visit to prepare a game plan, and How are blogs used in education? is one of the questions we have decided to tackle. He asked me to tell students more about blogs and how this form of writing is used in education. While I was able to cover the basics in person, I thought it would be worth expanding on the theme here, with a focus on online training.

Classroom blog

A blog is a website type which allows interaction with readers through comments and responses. It consists of a series of papers, presented in reverse chronological order, usually written on a central theme or for a specific purpose. Thanks to advances in technology and development of websites, blog platforms (eg WordPress, Blogger) allow a person without much experience in the technology to quickly set up a professional website and start writing.

The format of blog is a natural match with online learning – is based on writing for the web, easy to use and can be easily shared via the URL. In addition to interactivity and usability, blogs allow you to text and multimedia. Bloggers can include images, video and audio recordings, and links to surveys and in their jobs.

Some learning management systems also have a blog-like functions with which students can create individual spaces for writing in their courses and get feedback from their classmates through the Write your comments. Some students used the online independent blog, creating your own blog accounts, and provide a link to their classmates. Blogs in the classroom are also a possibility, run by an instructor with the students contributing messages to a central site.

Missions and evaluations

Magazines: The benefits of reflective learning, have been recognized for many years and students in a variety of disciplines that are practiced even journal writing as a task of the course.
