Just like as the World Cup happens every four years, so does the official soccer ball changes.

The World Cup 2010 was a great event that was watched by all the great soccer enthusiasts from all across the globe and which was played by all the qualified Soccer players around the world. The players, the national soccer associations, the millions of fans and the supporters from across the globe keep waiting for this mega event for every four years. This amazing event was also a great opportunity for people to get to know this sport called soccer, this time there were lot of soccer learning that has happened during the world cup tenure. Every world cup leaves behind rich resources of soccer like the soccer academia’s and world class infrastructure in the host country and the best way to learn about it is with the official world cup soccer ball to play with.

World Cup 2010 was named, “JABULANI” which means “to celebrate” in isiZulu language, the new Adidas ball was the only soccer balls used during this times month-long tournament that started in June 2010.

This soccer ball is associated with a big number “11″ as it sports an impressive 11 different colors. This specific number was chosen for the 11 players who take the soccer field for every team during the tournament, the 11 official languages of South Africa out of which isiZulu is spoken by 25% of the people, and also for the 11 South African tribes that make the country extremely diverse in all aspects.

World Cup 2010 official soccer balls design was created to, “lend the ball a unique appearance in African spirit. Like the outer facade of Johannesburg’s Soccer City Stadium, individual design elements capture the colorfulness of South Africa.”

Real Madrid’s Brazilian superstar Kaka says “For me, contact with the ball is all-important,” then says “That’s just great with this soccer ball.”

This ball uses revolutionary ‘Grip’n'Groove’ technology, with covers in small aero grooves that provide, “unmatched flight characteristics, making this the most stable and most accurate Adidas ball ever.” These make it a perfect match for a perfect tournament like the grand World Cup, where Soccer Goals are scored with this grand ball.

Over and above these you can find, the “goose bumps” effect that was first seen in the 2008 European Championships which was upgraded in the “JABULANI” ball giving it a, “more of futuristic texture and extensive grip.”

These balls are to be sent to the soccer goal posts for a match result, for which goal keepers are the right ones to estimate the power of this ball. Facing this prospect of stopping the soccer ball, Chelsea’s Czech goalkeeper, Petr Cech after feeling the power of the ball says, “You can feel the energy coming towards you,” said Cech. “Like a shot.”

This ball was tested for use firstly at Loughborough University in England and also at the Adidas football laboratory in Germany, the “JABULANI” ball was put into the real action through Adidas’ partnership with the world-class athletes at AC Milan, the Orlando Pirates, FC Bayern Munchen, and Ajax Cape Town.

Micheal Ballack, German captain and Chelsea midfielder sums the ball up best by saying, “It’s fantastic, the ball does exactly what I want it to.” And there are numerous others with many satisfactory quotes about this wonderful Soccer ball

Spanish La Liga news is filled with changes as the soccer league approaches its 80th season in 2010/2011. One of the things changing is the La Liga Table, with three teams – Real Valladolid, CD Tenerife, and Xerez CD – moving down to the Segunda Division, and three teams–Real Sociedad, 2009-2010 Segunda Division champs, along with runners up Hercules CF and Levante UD – moving up. Barcelona is fresh of winning it’s second consecutive La Liga championship and its 20th overall, but a major change in rival Real Madrid is fueling speculation that the defending champion may not be on track for a third consecutive La Liga title.

The change in Real Madrid is at the top. Much La Liga speculation centers around Jose Mourinho’s impact as the new coach. The move of Mourinho from Inter Milan to Real Madrid ignited fresh hopes that this longtime La Liga powerhouse would return to the top. Already, he seems to be making an impact. Reports coming from the team credit Mourinho with instilling the club with a lot of confidence going into the new La Liga season. He also seems to have brought his no-nonsense attitude with him from Milan; he reportedly has installed beds at the training grounds so his players can take their siestas there instead of returning home between practices. Mourinho seems poised to have a major impact on Real Madrid’s performance during the 2010-2011 La Liga season.

Two major La Liga transfers are sure to have an impact on one team in particular. With the loss of two stars in David Villa and David Silva speculation is rife over whether or not Valencia can compete with La Liga powerhouses Real Madrid and Barcelona. The most Valencia can hope for after the loss Villa and Silva, many say, is to compete with Atletico Madrid and Seville for third spot in La Liga.

The major question concerning La Liga for the 2010/2011 season is which team is the favorite—Real Madrid or Barcelona. Barcelona is favored to win its third title in a row. But the team has money problems, failing to pay its players at the end of June and having to take out a $197 million dollar loan to do so. In addition, the move of Mourinho to Real Madrid have many speculating that the coach who led Inter Milan to its first European Champions League cup in years is just what that team needs to return to the top of La Liga. If Mourinho can live up to the speculation and Barcelona can stay afloat, it would seem that the contest in La Liga’s 2010/2011 season is really only between the two Spanish powerhouses.

You might been aware of the relaxing effect of Hammocks which are often the symbol of summer, leisure, relaxation and simple, easy living. Hammocks were said to be developed by native people who inhabited the tropical regions for the purpose of sleeping. Later, the sailors of abroad ships used them to enable comfort and maximize available space, and it was also used by the explorers or soldiers traveling in wooded regions. So like wise the Wooden Hammock Stand became popular around the world for relaxation; they are also used as a lightweight bed on camping trips. The hammock is a fabric sling suspended between two points, used for swinging, sleeping, or resting. The Hammocks normally consists of one or more cloth panels, which are a woven network of twine or thin rope stretched with ropes between two firm anchor points such as trees or posts.

Lets look at history of how hammocks came into being.

Long time ago Spanish colonists noticed the use of the hammock by the Native Americans, particularly in the West Indies during the Spanish conquest. The word which means “fish net” comes from a Taino culture. Early hammocks were woven out of bark from a hamack tree, so came the famous wooden hammock stand where the it stands for a statement for relaxation or rest and these were later replaced by a material called the sisal fibers because it was more abundant. One of the interesting reasons that hammocks became popular in the Central and Southern America was of its ability to provide safety from disease transmission, insect stings, or animal bites. By the suspension which Hammocks creates on their beds above ground, inhabitants were better protected from the harmful creatures like snakes, biting ants, and others. These Central and Southern American Hammocks were introduced to the European world by Christopher Columbus when he brought several of them back to Spain from islands in the present day Bahamas.
A few sources from the European world mention that the historical use of cloth slings as carriage seats, but not as regular beds.

But in the modern times when more and more concrete jungles are coming up its difficult to find Trees to hang our hammocks, here Wooden Hammock stand comes to rescue. Hammocks are usually used mostly in summer, and during that time you can simple switch on to Wooden Hammock Stands to upbeat the heat and also as the perfect solution for a relaxing effect. You can just lay on this comfy Wooden Hammock Stand at your patio and then enjoy the hot sun or take the pleasure of cool breeze. You have many varieties of Hammocks available like the new Arc Hammock plus Double Hammock which includes double padded with excellent qualities. They come with hardwood spreader, bars and sturdy welded suspension rings with cotton made. Most of the wooden stands are around 14′ long which are beautifully stained and water treated. Easily two can fit into this double padded stand.

Generally the Wooden Hammock Stand adds grace and attractive pleasing look to your patio or courtyard. Like any other material to maintain and keep up the beauty a little of maintenance is required. So, generally treat your wooden stand once a year with water repellent; by doing so the wood keeps up its beautiful color and also stays for a longer run.

Soccer shoes and Football Shoes are the best choice for those who want to be football players. Becoming next C Lo, Messi and Kaka is many kid’s dream. However, from appearance to funtion, football shoes is different from soccer shoes, it is important to know some knowledge of soccer shoes.

Soccer Shoes – Go Light

You want to buy a cleat that is as light as possible. Lighter soccer cleats allow you to run faster and tire out less than if you’re wearing heavier shoes. If you’re a forward and are going to be doing a lot of attacking, you definitely want a light shoe. If you’re a defender and are more likely to get stepped on, it’s a good idea to get a cleat that’s a bit heavier and has more protection.

Soccer Shoes – Make Sure It Fits

Always make sure your shoes fit and have good support. Try both shoes on in the store and even ask the manager if you can kick a ball around for a bit to get a feel for the cleats. There shouldn’t be more than about half an inch between your big toe and the end of the shoe – otherwise, you’re gonna get blisters.

Soccer Shoes – Playing Field

If most of your games are played on a wet field, it’s best to get shoes that have synthetic uppers. (That means the top part of the shoe is made out of man-made fibres). Synthetic uppers soak up a lot less water than leather ones do. You can also get cleats that are made especially for ground, turf or indoor fields. But if you can only afford one pair of soccer shoes – get a good pair of ground cleats.

Soccer Shoes – Cleats Don’t Make the Player

Remember that an expensive pair of soccer shoes with all the latest high-tech features isn’t going to make you the next David Beckham or Freddy Adu. That only comes from natural talent, practice and hard work. Some of the world’s greatest players from places like Brazil or Chile started playing soccer on the beach or in the streets in just their barefeet. A better pair of cleats can give you a bit of an edge but your team will do even better if you play smarter, work harder and your Dad’s the ref. Even pop players wear Adidas Soccer Shoes, not the shoes make him skilled, just continuous contact make him become popular.

Buyying a soccer shoe, you should also take price into consideration. It is very important, with same meterial and feature, but cheaper price, where did you buy? It is smart to buy Cheap Soccer Shoes during training. For those who want to become famous, remember the skills is your secret weapon, soccer shoes just an aids.

The 70,000 strong crowd at the Dhaka national stadium were holding their breath among great excitement. With the game locked at 1-1, deep in the 2nd half, Bangladesh had a free kick just outside the opposition (Indonesia) box. After conceding a goal early in the match, to a dubious penalty, Bangladesh had just equalized, through a header by their tall full back Kaiser Hamid, playing only his 2nd match for the country. Now this free kick provided an excellent opportunity to take the lead. The veteran, Ashrafuddin Chunnu, the hero of the Abahani fans, stepped in to take the kick.

Three years earlier, during the Spain WC we had seen plenty of brilliant free kicks. Italy had Bruno Conti, who used to bend the ball towards the Penalty box for Rossi and others to latch on, while the Brazilian trio of Zico, Eder and Junior preferred the more direct route, going straight for the goal. Their techniques were different though. Eder believed in sheer power, no range was too far for him. Zico preferred the chip, while Junior, the left full back liked to curl the ball round the wall. Here, in Dhaka, Chunnu tried the Junior approach, and his Banana kick completely deceived the Indonesian goalkeeper. Standing behind the wall, he saw the ball too late to react. Chunnu’s goal was enough to ensure first ever WC qualifier victory for us. And we followed this win with a comfortable 1-0 win over Thailand. And although we lost our final game against India at Calcutta (2-1 after taking the lead), our overall performance in our first ever qualifying campaign was not bad at all. Later in 1985, Abahani performed brilliantly in the qualifying round in Colombo, for the Asian Club Championship, and only an unlucky 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Calcutta giant East Bengal denied them a birth in the main event. In 1988, the Mohammedans went even better, not only did they beat an Iranian side in the qualifying round, they caused an upset in the main event beating the North Korean champions. Admittedly, both Abahani & Mohammedan had a number of foreign recruits, but the teams were not completely dependent on them. In fact, the contributions of our local players, like Ashish, Aslam or Shabbir were not negligible. Based on these performances, and with huge following of the game here, our football was expected to make steady progress. If our football had matched the progress achieved in Cricket, we might not have played in the main WC, but we would have come close to that. We might not have produced any Park Ji Sung, but we could have players playing in the Championship in England, or in the Serie B in Italy. Instead, now in 2010, we rank towards the bottom of FIFA’s list. While we are happy to clap for Messi and Kaka, our own football is in abysmal condition. Our own bid for SA, 2010, had ended long time ago, with a 1-6 reversal over two legs at the hands of Tajikistan (a 1-1 draw at Dhaka was followed by 5-0 drubbing in Central Asia). Over the last two decades our cricket had made steady progress towards the top. In contrast, our football standards have continuously gone down. Here, I would try to figure out the main reasons of such failures. And, I would be quite frequently drawing parallels between the events in our cricket and football arenas to find out the shortcomings of our football authorities.

There is a theory (and I was a firm believer in this theory not long ago), that football had died in Bangladesh. With Bangladesh playing cricket at the highest level most of the attention of the general public had been shifted towards cricket. According to this theory soccer is gradually becoming a minority sports. However, my views have changed over the last few months. First, I have seen huge crowd gather at the Bangabandhu Stadium to watch SAFF and SA games football. The standard of football was not brilliant, but that seemed to matter little for the huge crowd. And, of course, the city of Dhaka was filled with the flags of Argentina and Brazil, long before Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’. Not that the enthusiasm was confined to the capital city alone. My professional duties take me to Gazipur twice a week. And, there I have seen even greater euphoria. I have even seen huge flags of Japan and South Korea. So, there is no lack of passion of the game in our country. The problem is, apart from the passion, there is little else to talk about.

Of course, the passion itself can create problems. Passionate love can lead to people doing unethical things. Bible (The book of Samuel) tells the story of how David deceived his rival to get his loved one. For Bangladesh football, the passion has frequently taken the form of violence and destruction. It was especially true in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Many of the matches between the arch rivals Abahani and the Mohammedans almost inevitably lead to crowd violence. A number of people died in such violence, yet very little was done. Sadly, quite often the players and the officials of the two clubs played the leading role in instigating the fight. There were rules for punishing such acts, but our soccer authority was very reluctant use such measures, especially against the two giants.

But, for me the biggest failure of our football authority lies in their inability to establish a proper school championship. Back in the early 80’s, the Football Federation organized the pioneer league for a few years. Almost 100 teams took part in the tournament to get a place in the 3rd Division of the Dhaka League. The idea was to foster the development of young football talent. But, there were two problems. The Federation failed to spread this idea to the whole part of the country. It was just confined to the capital city and its suburbs. Secondly, as the law and order situation of the country seemed to get worse in the early 80’s some of the clubs started to build bad reputations. Instead of encouraging cultural and sports activities, these clubs became hubs for the anti-social elements. In this situation, many parents were against their kids having any connection with these clubs, and eventually the pioneer League failed to achieve its goals. A far better way of finding young talents would have been to form a nationwide school competition. With lot of the school having their own playground, the organization would have been fairly simple. It was in the early 80’s, that the cricket authorities started the inter school cricket tournament that is still going strong.

One of the reasons BCCB could move ahead so successfully with their program of school cricket is the fact that they had a high profile sponsor in ‘Nirman’. Later in the 80’s, Beximco came forward to sponsor the Asian Youth Cup. At a time when the corporate culture in the country was very much in the rudimentary stages, why did the big businesses of the country put their support behind cricket rather than football? The reason was the ‘Status’. In the subcontinent, the royal game always enjoyed status far greater than any other sports. In the British Raj, the princely states played a leading role in patronizing the game. In Bangladesh, most of the early cricketers came from highly educated and established family. BCCB should get some credit for spreading the game to all parts of the society without damaging the status situation. In direct contrast, the football authorities never seemed to care too much about the status of the game. They were too busy with the conflicts within the organization. As TV became the strongest media, many sports are no longer just ‘sports’, they have become ‘entertainment’. A player these days is expected to have a bit of charisma apart from his playing skills. Not that all our footballers lacked in this regard. I remember, early in the 1980s, Tutul, the Abahani and national team right back, played the central role in a BTV drama. The story revolved around a young footballer who gradually made his way to the top only to see his career end abruptly due to injury. Tutul received rich accolade for his efforts. But, there was no concerted effort by the authority to enhance the reputation of the game with the help of the electronic media. One of the most interesting features of our football is that there is no permanent schedul

e for different competitions. For the last 30 years I have seen the English season start in early/mid August and finish in Mid/late May. There have been changes, for example the number of teams in top flight reduced to 20 from 22 to reduce the number of games, or the introduction of penalty shoot out (if necessary) in the F.A. Cup. But whatever changes occur, there are thought processes behind it. In Bangladesh football changes occur almost at the whims of the authorities. Sometimes, these authorities have nothing do with football. The Aga Khan Gold Cup, a highly successful international club competition was stopped after 1981 (Local side Brothers Union shared the title in final edition with the Bangkok Banks club from Thailand, thus becoming the only local team to lift the trophy after independence. Both Mohammedan and Victoria had won the Cup before our independence). It was replaced by the Presidents Cup. The organizers of the new tournament said that the new competition will feature the national teams of the region. Soon enough, it was clear that the participating teams were sending their youth team, or some club teams. Not surprisingly the idea of the Presidents cup had a fairly quick end. In August 1990, BFF organized the ‘M O Moni’ Cup, in May 1991, they organized a six team tournament (Abahani, Mohammedan, and Brothers Union from Dhaka; Mohan Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan from Calcutta). Both these tournaments had philanthropic idea behind them. The first one was organized to encourage child vaccination, the 2nd to raise funds for the cyclone victims. The tournaments were grand successes in the sense that huge crowd gathered to watch the games, but whether these matches served any serious purpose football-wise is highly debatable.

In the development of our cricket, the foreign players, especially the SL ones, played a major role. Though, the influx of foreign footballers to Dhaka started a lot earlier, apart from a brief period in the late 80’s, there was no significant contribution by the foreign recruits. Back in the late 70’s, a number of Indian, Pakistani and SL players came to Dhaka. But, in most of the cases, they were here only to play the big games. A notable exception was Pakir Ali, the Lankan central defender, who after joining Abahani in 1981, went onto play with great distinction for a number of years. But, the most positive influence by foreign recruits came during 1987 season. The Mohammedans brought in three Iranians. Out of the three, Golam Reza Naljegar, the short mid fielder, was one of the best in Asia. For the Mohammedans, he played the role of the playmaker. Also there was Naser Hejaji, a goalkeeper, who had played for the Iran’s WC team in 1978. Apart from the keeping duty, he also did some coaching job for the black and whites. No less impressive were the Abahani recruits, Shamir Shaker, the central defender, and Karim Alavi, the striker, both from Iraq. Later in the decade, we saw some quality players from the Central Asia coming to the Dhaka League. They too, were quite impressive. But the problems started with the arrival of the African players in the 90’s. A lot of these players possessed no football skills. Yet, they were chosen, only because they enjoyed great physical advantages over the local players. At times, even the referees felt a bit intimidated. Too much use of the physical power, plus their frequent undisciplined behavior, only created problems for our football.

Last, but not the least is the commitment factor; commitment, in case of our cricket authorities, lack of it for our football hierarchy. Just as in other sectors in Bangladesh, there were internal conflicts over petty issues, controversies, occasional mismanagement, outside influence in our cricket board. But, despite these problems, cricket made steady progress in the right direction, only because above and over these problems, there was a general commitment to the game among our officials. There was no such commitment evident among our soccer authority.

Looking at the Future: Recently, Kazi Salahuddin, one of our all time greats has taken over as the No. 1 in our football hierarchy. Although, like everybody else, he is not above controversy, many like me feel that he is the man best suited to restore the image of the game within the country. His knowledge of the game is unquestionable, and he has the right kind of attitude. Of course, not everything has gone according to plans. Especially, the departure of a foreign coach in rather acrimonious circumstances has raised some eyebrows, both home and abroad. On the brighter side, it looks like that finally the big sponsors of the country are turning their heads towards soccer. One can only hope that this money is used properly to spread the game all over the country, and to build proper structure of our football. Things wouldn’t change in a day or two; nor can one man alone can change everything. What we expect that under the leadership of Salahuddin, and with the financial backing of the big sponsors, our football will get back in the right course. After some promising moments in the 80’s very little has been achieved in the football field. The last two decades have been wasted badly. While we have to content ourselves with supporting Brazil or Argentina, one hopes that our children (or perhaps our grandchildren) can clap for our boys playing in the WC. This may sound like a dream; but then, everything starts with a dream.

This evening sees the second leg ties of the Second Qualifying Round for the 2010/2011 Europa League tournament. Who will progress to the third, and final, qualifying round? BetRepublic.com searches for some value bets here.

Breidablik v Motherwell Soccer betting Tip :

At the halfway stage of the tie Motherwell hold the advantage after winning 1-0 last week in Scotland. Can they hold that advantage and progress as they travel to Iceland this Thursday evening? The 23/20 favourites to win the match in normal time, with Breidablik available at odds of 17/10 and the draw can be backed at 12/5.

The first game at Fir Park saw a competitive game with plenty of chances for both sides, however it was the more clinical professional side from the SPL that took the win through a 63rd minute goal. However, the Icelandic side had their share of chances and on another night they could come away with an away goal or two. Can they overturn the deficit and progress to their final qualifying round to face Aalesunds FK of Norway in their first appearance in European football?

I see this as another exciting game and I feel that Motherwell will take the win and progress to the next round. However Breidablik will not make it easy and I see both sides scoring in this game. Back Motherwell to win @ 23/20.

Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv v Shamrock Rovers:

After the first leg of this tie the Israeli side hold the advantage after scoring the away goal in a 1-1 draw in Dublin last week. They are favourites to take win this second leg match at odds of 4/9, with Shamrock Rovers available at odds of 5/1 and the draw can be backed at 11/4.

Bnei Yehuda began the stronger of the two sides in the first leg and took a deserved 26th minute lead. However, Rovers got back into the game in the second half and they scored in injury time at the end of the game to keep themselves in the tie. Can they go on to upset the odds and book a place in the third qualifying round against European football giants Juventus?

I see this match going the way of the first game and ending up in extra time. As a result of this, my money is on the draw @ 3/1 and both sides to score @ evens.

FC MIKA Ashtarak v FK Rabotnicki:

The winner of this match will get a massive money-spinning adventure in the next round against Liverpool. Rabotnicki lead the tie 1-0 after winning at home last week, now can they finish the job?

FC Mika are 5/4 favourites to win this game, with Rabotnicki available at 9/5 and the draw can be backed at 11/5. However, Rabotnicki managed to win the first leg tie despite being down to ten men for almost an hour. Should the Macedonian side play like this again then at odds of 9/5 they will be an excellent bet.

However, MIKA kept the score down despite being away from home and they know they will have to score to stand any chance of going through and they will come out firing. As a result I expect a high scoring game but I expect Rabotnicki to claim the victory.

As a result of this, my money is on FK Rabotnicki to win at odds of 9/5 and over 2.5 goals.

BetRepublic.com Recommends:

Motherwell to beat Breidablik @ 23/20

Both Motherwell and Breidablik to score @ 5/6

Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv v Shamrock Rovers to end as a draw @ 3/1

Both Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv and Shamrock Rovers to score @ evens

FK Rabotnicki to beat FC MIKA Ashtarak @ 9/5

Over 2.5 goals in the FK Rabotnicki v FC MIKA Ashtarak game @ evens
