There may be a slowdown in personal computer manufacturing thru 2012 after the flood in Thailand severely disrupted the production of hard drives. Dell lost market share to Asian rival Lenovo which moved up to the No.2 slot.
NSC (National Savings Certificate) & PPF (Public Provident Fund) are the popular small savings schemes. Because they provide tax deductions. If the tax benefit from NSC goes it will be dead instrument. PPF investors stand to be the biggest beneficiary of the changes in the small savings schemes. It has been proposed that the max. investment limit in PPF will be increased to 1lakh, that is the exemption limit available under section 80C of the income tax act.
The interest rate on PPF is also likely to go up from 8% at present. This is because long-term money is always costlier tha short term funds. Any tightening of interest rates by the Reserve Bank affects the short end of the G-sec yield curve the most- the long term yield curve remained almost flat since march 2010 when the apex bank began the tightening of the interest rates.
It also means that the rate volatility in PPF will be much less than in small savings instruments.
PPF cn give many tax saving equity options a run for their money in the new tax regime

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

Happy Diwali

itz late but we still have the habbit to celebrate still have energy and stock :)
Japan has removed almost all tariffs on industrial products, some agricultural items- such as mangoes, citrus, fruits, and spices, textiles, petrochemical and chemical products, cement and jewellery.
The import of Japanese consumer goods such as mobile phones-including SIM cards and memory cards calculators, chargers, compact discs, DVDs and video cameras and textiles such as woven and silk fabrics will become duty free.

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

What RBI has done?
The RBI raised the reverse repo by 100 basis points to 7% and marginal standing facility (MSF) rate to 9% maintaing a 200 basis point corridor with the repo bang in the middle. The banks set the benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 8%. The hike is much sharper than the expected 25 basis points. In 16 months the RBI has raised rates by 325 basis points. the RBI is hoping that it will put a lid on inflation by moderating demand but concedes that the strategy may not work effectively unless appropriate action is taken to deal with supply bottlenecks. Uncertainty over crude oil prices, foreign capital flows, food prices, the vagaries of monsoon, a rising subsidy bill and recent tax cuts on petro products will ensure inflation will remain elevated at least during the second quarter which ends on Sept 30.
Result: The EMIs of home or auto loan will automatically go up immediately.
For industrialist, cost of borrowings will go up leading to project delays.
For depositors, its a profit news as will earn more interest.

The Central Bank of India feels India is not in a slowdown mode and believes a little bit of growth can be sacrificed to deal with imperative of tackling inflation.
( repo is the rate at which the central bank provides short term cash to banks)

This news is so big that it made many like us to make many calls to our bankers, brokers, and accountants. This repo factor has changed the view of investment for sure specially for my kinda middle class investors & savers.

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

Battle against Inflation- India

THE ECONOMIC BOOM HAS LED TO A SURGE IN WAGES BUT SUPPLY OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES HAS NOT KEPT PACE WITH SUCH DEMAND- CREATING A CLASSIC WHERE TOO MUCH MONEY CHASES TOO FEW GOOD, SPARKING INFLATION.
The RBI believes that centre now faces a huge challenge in setting its finances in order and may slip up on its target of capping fiscal deficit at 4.6% of GDP this year. "It is important to recognize that in the absence of appropriate actions for addressing supply bottlenecks, especially in food and infrastructure, questions about the ability of the economy to sustain the current growth rate without significant inflationary pressures come to the fore," RBI governor Duvvuri Subbarao said while presenting the first quarter review of the monetary policy in Mumbai.
"the large fiscal deficit has been a key source of demand pressures. Fiscal consolidation is therefore critical to managing inflation. While meeting quantitative targets, the govt. also need to focus on the quality of expenditure to sustain the fiscal consolidation process, which, in turn will help contain aggregate demand and raise potential output," the RBI said.

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

Real time Drama- extraordinary exchanges between the US President and White House speaker John Boehner

26.07: Obama urged Republicans to accept new revenues- a key sticking point in the negotiations as a way to balance the cuts that he said were serious,

Interest rates have been rising for over a year now. and while investors have grappled with the fallout like rising loan rates. it's also a fact that investment options such as bank fixed deposits have turned attractive. But as financial advisers will tell you there are more attractive fixed income investments avenues than deposits alone.
One such avenue thats turned attractive is short term income funds. Short term income funds are looking good with interest rates increasing every quarter and as theses funds have low maturity and low duration portfolios currently- Mukesh Dedhia..
These funds currently have an avg yield to maturity, assuming an expense ratio of about 1% investors can expect a return of 9% over one year. Also FMPs (fixed maturity plans) are close ended debt funds that hold their investments to maturity thus eliminating the interest rate risk. Remember the RBI has been consistently raising the interest rates since March 2010. Rates have risen due to many factors like inflation, tight liquidity and economic growth. In recent weeks liquidity pressures have eased and so yields on one year papers have come off slightly.
Given the prevailing rates, one year FMPs should give pre-tax returns of 9.5%-9.6%, or post returns of 8.5%-8.7%. In comparison one-year bank deposits are currently offering 10% to-10.25% or a post tax return of 7%-7.2% at the highest slab

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

Investment ideas of future

We know about shares, stock market but recently the volatility in market made us thought of thinking and looking for wats in store, in every moment theres something going on to serve ourselves in a better way, so little research thanx to my frends for this generous attitude to make me know the present stage, so iam sharing it here as well.
Global server hardware market:
TechNavio's analysts forecast that the Global Server Hardware Market will reach $57.8 billion in 2014. One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is an increase in adoption of e-business model and IT applications by SMEs. The Server Hardware market has also been witnessing virtualization of servers. NFC (Near Field Communications) is making mobile phones transforming electronic wallets. Companies are therefore encouraging mobile payments and NFC technology. This has pushed POS systems to migrate towards mobile acceptance, hence demanding POS software that is flexible and incorporates new requirements.
(Buy HTZ for just $4)
Smartphones :
Smartphone shipments worldwide grew 18 percent in 2009 to 171 million units at a $67 billion level, according to market research firm Forward Concepts (Tempe, Ariz.). The market for semiconductors and displays that serve smartphones reached $11.7 billion. With the economy expected to continue improving, Forward Concepts forecasts a compound annual growth rate of 24 percent for smartphones so that they reach the 496 million unit annual level in 2014.
However, as technologies evolved and financial markets crashed, much of Motorola's fortunes were erased. With the split over the choice of cell phones, there is also much split in between the investors betting on Motorola company. Now even the company is about to split into two,Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. Motorola Mobility, focused on its consumer business, and Motorola Solutions, its professional business. Motorola Mobility will focus on its cell phones and cable set-top boxes businesses, and Motorola Solutions will sell its police radios, barcode scanners and related technologies. The third division of Motorola, which produces network equipment for cell phone companies, won't be included in the split, and will be sold to Nokia-Siemens Networks, a Finnish-German joint venture.
For now the two companies are relatively safe for investment, though Solutions is much safer bet. .The company's Android handsets have helped it stay relevant in the smartphone marketplace. With commodities going high specially Gold and Silver its time to invest into something new yet profitable. Thats wat the current market trend showing with the big investors opting for Energy's which directs to price rise of Energys. Gas prices already on rise so comes solar energy, though its not new as its wide acceptance has been noticed in Europe, South korea and China and USA.
Solar cells and panel manufacturerrs are coming into much notice, the one stock for capital I set is Yingli Green Energy.
Yingli's primary global markets include Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, South Korea, China and the United States. On November 19, the company announced a gross margin of 33.3%, above its original guidance of 31-32%, and well above the 22.5% it posted the same period last year. Operating margin was reported at 22.4%. The company reported a profit of 465.1 million CNY ($68.2 million USD) up from 120.8 million CNY last year. Traders said the gold market was relatively quiet but prices ratcheted higher as there were few willing sellers ahead of the European Central Bank meeting.
The ECB meeting results, due at 1245 GMT, could include a signal that the bank is willing to extend its bond-buying program, a move which would be greeted with glee by gold bulls, some of whom suspect the ECB will eventually be forced into quantitative easing.
At 0725 GMT, spot gold was at $1,393.10 a troy ounce, up $6.50 from Wednesday's New York close, with Tocom October 2010 gold up Y25 at Y3,773 a gram.
Spot silver was at $28.61/oz, up 19 cents, while spot platinum was up $16 at $1,701/oz.

Subscribe to RSS headline updates from:
Powered by FeedBurner

News on board

MICEX- Farmsintez sold the entire amount of share offered to investors in IPO for innovations and investments.

Based in Canada, Research in Motion is a world leader in phone, especially smartphone technology. The company's signature product, the Blackberry, was the first mobile phone to offer textually-based communication, particularly e-mail. Since then, Research in Motion has continued to produce cutting-edge smartphones that come with capabilities of all kinds. Research in Motion is holding its own in the exploding smartphone market, but competitors such as the Apple iPhone and Google Android systems have pulled a large amount of business away from the iconic Blackberry.

The smartphone market in North America has become increasingly saturated and all handheld technology manufacturers are turning their attention to the east. Both Arab states and Asia hold great promise for technology manufacturers, but as Google has learned, opportunities in those areas of the world can come with complications, particularly government complications.

Matters came to a head at the beginning of August when several governments expressed concern that Blackberry's encrypted messaging systems hampered efforts on the part of law enforcement and security officials to collect data. Much of the discussions have centered on the fact that Blackberry servers almost exclusively reside in Research in Motion's home country of Canada. Indonesia requested that Research in Motion build servers in Indonesia the idea being that the Indonesian government would have greater freedom to perform wire taps, decrease service charges and increase non-tax income. United Arab Emirates threatened to ban Blackberry services such as e-mail, web browsing and instant messaging unless the government was given greater access to encryption codes. Saudi Arabia threatened to ban many Blackberry services as a means of hampering the communications of militants and terrorists. India requires phone companies to place lawful monitoring services in place in order to help with its battles with Muslim insurgencies and would like to force Research in Motion to comply.

Encrypted Blackberry messenger services are not only used by entities planning acts of violence, but also by groups who pursue political activism through more peaceful means. The encrypted communications offered a kind of "free speech zone" to those who might disagree with government policy in a part of the world, where any dissent, even the written word is not often tolerated. Nabeel Rajab, a spokesman from the Bahrain Center for Human Rights has used Blackberry service to communicate with a few thousand followers. He said, "It [Blackberry Messenger] brought us new people we hadn't reached before. Not everybody uses the Internet but everyone uses the phone." Ahmed Mansour, and UAE blogger said, "When BlackBerry came, I started to get messages criticizing the government from people I'd never seen involved in activism. Regular people started discussing taboo subjects. It widened the circle of interest."

Much of the discussion centers around how much access to secret information has been given to other governments, such as the United States and China. The eastern and Asian countries believe that both of the bigger governments have access although there seems to be no proof and furthermore, even R.I.M. itself claims that they themselves do not have the key with which to "unencrypt" the messages.

The latest news is that it seems that most of the governments in question have either come to an agreement with Research in Motion or delayed their impending bans. Most observers believe that some sort of compromise will be reached in most of the countries. The bottom line is that Research in Motion cannot afford to stop doing business in this part of the world and they will most likely do whatever is needed in order to get along.
