Our flagship program, the Post Graduate Diploma in Management, is an AICTE approved course, equivalent to an MBA degree and is offered from all the four ITM Business School campuses. The Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management is also an AICTE approved course, currently being offered only at the ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai Campus.

In founding ITM, Prof. P.V. Ramana envisioned that ITM would not be a single location Business School, rather a network of several Business School campuses that provided the ITM Quality of Management Education in major cities across India. ITM is at heart, an Entrepreneurial operation- established as a result of the commitment to the Ideal that a private, non-aided business school could survive and thrive in the mostly regulated environment of education in India. In that venture, ITM has achieved the status of a Pioneer among private business schools in India.

Over the last 17 years, the PGDM program has evolved into a unique blend of core management subjects, cutting edge knowledge areas and modern academic practices.

The PGDM program developed into a rite-of-passage, which has led to ever improving careers and lives for over 3000 young managers from all corners of India and the world. The program and the ITM campuses that offer it, have matured greatly since the inception of the Institute in 1991.

Any serious effort in Management Education is characterized by a unique duality- constant, unrelenting change supported by unwavering fundamentals. At ITM, this duality is evidenced on the one side- by the sheer pace of operational growth and infrastructural expansion, the constant reinvention of academic offerings, and on the other side- by the commitment, honor and endurance of that group of individuals who make up the ITM Family.

In 1992, the ITM Trust set-down its second Business School in a city that, within a decade, has made the country proud as the “Silicon Valley of India”. ITM Bangalore is situated in South Bangalore , a fast emerging hub for technology giants which provides the right ambience for intellectual pursuit and industry integration.

ITM Bangalore has its own sprawling campus spread over 3.5 acres, with furnished hostels, administrative building, well-stocked library and reference rooms, auditorium, spacious classrooms and state-of-the art computer labs. The fully residential program is able to cater to the wide interest of diversified students from across India.

Business Courses Offered
The ITM Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDM) in Marketing, Finance, HRM & IT.

Placement
Goldman Sachs, Icici Ban, Deutche Bank, Hsbc, Pacsoft, Icici Bank, Kotak Bank.

The campus offers the two-year full time residential PGDBM program approved by AICTE, with specializations in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.

The endeavor of the Institution over the past decade has been to transform young, bright graduates into aspiring managers seeking challenging opportunities in the new millennium. ITM Bangalore believes that management education is not one giant leap but a partnership in progress. It is a series of small but sure steps where each step is an opportunity for self-assessment and a realization to scale greater heights. This partnership between dynamic young students and management with a vision strives towards achieving one ultimatum – “Success through Acquisition of Knowledge”. The Management, Faculty and Staff are committed in working together with students to make this goal a reality.

Location
ITM Business School, Bangalore
Bannerghatta Road, Behind Meenakshi Temple,
Hulimavu, Bangalore- 560 076
Tel : (080) 26585737, 6580776 Fax : (080) 26585736
Email: bangalore@itm.edu

However, at our station we have already recorded temperature as low as 11.4 degree celsius this year. It’s usually above 13 degree celsius in November. This has been accompanied by cold winds, because of which people are catching these diseases,” he said.

The fluctuating temperature and spells of rain have affected public health. “Over the past month, there has been a significant rise in cases of enteric fever like typhoid — 15 to 20 positive cases have been reported at hospitals. Incidence of Hepatitis A, malaria, upper respiratory infections and allergic bronchitis have also risen by 15 per cent,” said Dr Byra Reddy, resident medical officer, K C General Hospital.

Diseases related to rodents and mosquitoes are also on the rise. “Though we are receiving lot of patients with symptoms of rat fever, only three cases have tested positive so far,” said Dr B G Tilak, medical superintendent at Victoria Hospital. Nine positive rat fever cases and nine dengue cases have been reported at St John’s Hospital.

Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute dean G T Subhash said there is usually a rise in viral fever cases during the pre-monsoon season. This year, the recovery period is getting prolonged and patients are even complaining of joint pains, he added. As Bangalore too came under red alert, DNA took a close look at how well the city hospitals are prepared to fight any such threat.

We visited five hospitals and here's what we found.

Victoria, the largest government hospital in Karnataka, scores low when it comes to security. The hospital, standing on a 44-acre land, has just two metal detectors at the entrance of the casualty ward. About 80 security staff work in shifts and are posted at various points on the sprawling campus.

"In a hospital with multiple entrances like ours, it is difficult to ensure safety. Moreover, being a public hospital, we can't stop the public from coming in. They rush in without letting the staff to check them with hand detectors," Dr BG Tilak, medical superintendent of the hospital, said.

However, there is a police outpost inside the hospital campus and in case of any security threat, they will take care, he said.

No institute in this world is secure enough, said Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya.

"It is difficult to implement stringent security inside a hospital. As of now, we have security guards, metal detectors at the entrance of the hospital and few security cameras."

The hospital has no plans to beef security as it will only inconvenience the patients, Dr Shetty said.

Private hospitals are better with round-the-clock security, metal detectors and baggage-screening facility.

Even after the terror attacks in Mumbai on Wedneday and Thursday the shopping malls in the city continue to be lax on the security front.

When our reporter went out on a recce to check the security preparedness implemented at the malls, it was found that none of the security measures are being followed to safe guard the citizen's life.

A visit to Bangalore Central mall revealed that there were no checks at the entrance. Our reporter walked in with the hand bag without being checked. On questioning the security guards stationed at the entrance one of them said: "Why do you want to be checked?"

At Lido Mall near the Trinity Circle there were no extra measures in the wake of terror attacks. "We do only routine checks such as frisking the person walking into the mall." There were no police in the vicinity of the mall. They were supposed to be deployed in extra numbers across the city's crowded institutions.

However, Garuda mall had beefed up security measures. "The security staff was briefed about the situation in the morning," said TG Vinod Centre Manager at Garuda Mall. The incoming vehicles were being checked manually while the entry into mall has been restricted.

The other opening is being used as exit point. "Cameras installed inside the building are monitoring the movement of the visitors and also security guards in plain clothes are watching for any suspicious behaviour," Vinod said.

The mall visitors too are not bothered on being safe. "Whatever has to happen will happen. I cannot sit at home anticipating a terror attack. I have to live life," said 24-year-old techie Annie Sharma.

She swooned as the Karnataka police band sounded the bugle after a police gun salute marking the beginning of the last journey of her son from their residence to the crematorium.

She was given medical aid as relatives consoled her.

The body of Major Unnikrishnan was brought to Bangalore late Friday night from Mumbai and kept at his Yelahanka residence for people to pay their last respects.

The only son of a retired Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) officer K. Unnikrishnan, Sandeep led his men into Taj Thursday. During the gunbattle he was separated from his men but continued taking on the terrorists, according to NSG Director General J.K. Dutt.

To prevent his colleagues from getting caught in the crossfire, Sandeep told them to keep away. He was grievously injured and died Friday.

His parents hail from Kerala but Sandeep was born and brought up in Bangalore.

‘I lost my son in Mumbai Friday but we are proud that he has served the country well,’ the father told reporters Friday night.

Unnikrishnan said Sandeep had called on Nov 26 to inform that he would be coming home early next month as his friend was getting married on Dec 17.

The March 17, 1977, born Sandeep had his schooling from Frank Anthony Public School in Bangalore. After passing out of the National Defence Academy, he was commissioned in the 7th Battalion of Bihar Regiment in 1999. He was deputed to NSG in January 2007.

Parikh was arrested by Bangalore cyber crime police officials on Friday. Inspector T.V. Reddy of Bangalore cyber crime police confirmed the arrest and said that Parikh not only hacked several levels of security checks, but also locked all possible leads to him. However, the Bangalore police were able to trace Parikh by employing a few ethical hackers. A three-member police team was immediately sent to Vadodara. On Friday, the police arrested Parikh from his residence in Waghodia. While local police officials are tightlipped about the incident, they, however, confirmed the arrest.

Well, it was the longest stretch of time where I did not get any idea to write. It finally took the Bangalore-Mysore highway to get me to write. And of course, I was getting "lot" of request to resume blogging too. "Lot" does not mean lot of people. It was lot of request from a single person - my wife!Disclaimer: This is not a travelogue in the true sense of word. As always, its highly unstructured, deeply personal and hardly useful.Driving on the Bangalore - Mysore highway is always a very intimate experience for me. It holds a thousand memories, its a meditative sort of journey which had helped me clear up my muddled thought process many a times in the past. It is here where I used to get the ideas for many of my earlier posts. I will just write about some random things that come up to my mind when I travel here.

Bangalore
"How long does it take to drive from Bangalore to Mysore?". You can never answer that question without throwing back another question - "You mean, from home or from the outskirts?". Well, that my friends, is Bangalore. The city I now call home. The city that has given me so much. The city which dares you not to feel strongly about it. And makes you fail miserably at that. The city thats irresistible in spite of all the frustrations it gifts you. As the cliche goes, you can love it, you can hate it, but you cannot ignore it.

Kengeri
Its not over till you are out of Kengeri. You never feel like you are out of Bangalore till you take those serpentine turns at the hopelessly laid traffic barricades here. To me, Kengeri is just the border of Bangalore, which you have to cross to enjoy the sheer joy of the highway ride ahead.

Bidadi
There are some places you love and some you hate. The others, like Bidadi, you dont give a damn. You dont even have an opinion. Even after all these years, passing by it hundreds of times, I cannot make one additional statement after I finish saying "Bidadi is an industrial town". You cannot love it, you cannot hate it, so you definitely have to ignore it.

Ramanagara
The most lovely stretch of straight road where you can almost reach 140k, takes you to the rocky hill town. The "Ghousia Engineering College" reminds you that a third of the journey is over. I wonder if there is a way to reach the top of the rocky hills, but my laziness never takes me any further than that little imagination. These rocky mountains never fail to amaze me, I simply love them. I have seen many a beautiful sunsets here. The greed for granite is slowly destroying what was once a safe abode of Gabbar. It reminds me of Jai and Veeru. The most famous coin in the history of Indian cinema. I wonder if the rock where Sambha used to sit is still there. My heart bleeds more for those rocks than all the trees they cut in Bangalore. Give man a little sense and momma nature a hundred years, you can get back all that greenery. But can you ever bring those beautiful rocky hills back? Strange thing this - while manmade items can be easily recreated, natural living things can be regenerated with some effort, natural lifeless things are almost impossible to get back!

Channapatna
Channapattana. The toy town. A myriad non-vegetarian hotels, garages and toy stores greet you to this city. The roadside "Bindaas family garden dhaba", "Kuri koli mudde oota" on one side and the swanky Coffee Day on the other. Very symbolic - two drastically different Indias, co-existing effortlessly.

Maddur
Gejjalagere marks the exact midpoint in the Bangalore-Mysore journey. Its again one of the names I love, I just like the way it sounds. The city of Maddur is the only stretch to have the 6 lane roads. A bunch of interspersed political hoardings make the otherwise breathtaking landscape seem ugly. The land of Maddur vade. A minor deviation off the highway will take you to an obscure lake called "Thailoor Kere". (Note to self - I need to visit that lake again) I had serendipitously discovered it a few years back when there was a road blockage on the highway thanks to some politician's paadayatra. Shivapura here has a "Satygraha Smaraka Bhavana". I wonder if it has any significance to the freedom struggle. But again, my laziness gets the better of my curiosity.

Mandya
Its all green on the way to Mandya. From the lush green fields - green ranging from 'Liril green' to the 'Madhuri-Dixit-in-Maar-Daala' green, farmers wearing green shawl on their dusty white clothes, to the money - its all green here. The political hoardings are even frequent and the cutouts of movie stars are gigantic. The five minute journey that takes you to get out of the city is the least enjoyable experience post-Kengeri. Yes, the second third of the journey is over.

Srirangapattana
One of the towns that reminds me of the British. Not so much because of Tippu Sultan. But for the way they killed the beautiful tongue twisting names of so many towns and cities in India. Seringapattam, my foot. To me, it would always be Srirangapattana. There is a santhe every saturday I guess. Just 20 mins away from Mysore, from the fun forts, from the Infy and from the Brigade apartments. What a contrast. Yes sir, this is how we do the business here. Just before you reach Srirangapatna, you can always see me smile. Its because of this small village called "K Shettihalli". Its perhaps the only village to have an initial. Kallashettihalli, kullashettihalli, anything would be fine. But, K Shettihalli is definitely a haha material.

Mysore
The "underground temple" at Siddhalingapura makes me feel I am "almost there". There is an old temple just before we reach Mysore, which looks so beautiful from the outside. (Note to self - I need to...) I love old temples - they will be very charming, like old Italian black and white movies. The road having the Mysore exhibition and Mysore palace on either side makes me feel I am home. Mysore Palace - you might have seen it fully lit. But, you got to watch it at midnight with minimal lighting to appreciate the real beauty of it. The lights at the steps of Chamundi hills form a lovely "Y" on a new moon day while the hills form a faint silhouette. Mysore, which never evokes very strong feelings in you, perhaps the reason why people find it serene and relaxing to be there. Mysore, which used to be home, which still makes me feel home whenever I am there. Mysore, where I may never go back to settle. Yet, Mysore, which will always be there in that sentence "Basically I am from..."

Eduniversal has developed a unique evaluation methodology; the acknowledgement from an independent international firm is significant for us,” says Professor Pankaj Chandra, Director, IIMB. “We have made several new initiatives, while continuing to strengthen our existing programmes, so that IIMB remains the preferred business school for students with global aspirations. “
The process of the Official Selection involved a global mapping system meeting the criteria of universality and the international reputation of each academic institution. The aim of the Official Selection was not necessarily to include the 1,000 best schools, but the most important 1,000 schools based on a method of quotas, offering business schools the opportunity to measure their performance, evolution and durability both in their zone of influence and internationally.
First of all, the selection was made by the Eduniversal International Scientific Committee constituted by:• 9 experts, each recognized both in their academic zone of influence and internationally• 1 representative of the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS)• 2 executive members of the consulting firm SMBG

All countries in the world were concerned by this selection: the number of schools per country was weighted by quantitative and qualitative criteria. The first step led to a selection of 1000 Institutions taken out from more than 10 000 Business Schools in the World.
The second step was the classification by Palms, ranked from 1 to 5, awarded on two essential criteria:- Evaluation of the International Dimension of the schools: their level of state recognition, their international accreditations (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA…), their presence in most renowned rankings (Financial Times, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Wall Street Journal…), their memberships in international academic associations (EFMD, EMBA, CLADEA, AAPBS…)…- The Deans’ vote: each Dean from the universities and schools on the list of 1000 had to vote to recommend the other academic institutions.

Eduniversal’ s ambition is to promote students’ mobility all over the world and give better visibility to the best Business Schools from more than 153 countries, and also to encourage all educational actors to share their experience and collaborate in a better way.
For more details, visit: “Eduniversal”

Through its solar roof programme, dena supports German PV companies in installing their technology abroad on German schools or institutions. During the inauguration event, experts including Prof. Dr. Olav Hohmeyer, members of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on climate change, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 along with Al Gore, failed presidential candiate turned film maker, pointed out the advantages of potovoltaic energy production for India.

Dr. Christine Worlen, head of the renewable energy division at dena is convinced of the future of photovoltaics in India. She said, ' India could become an important market.' She added that the project serves as a good example for other companies and organisations in India and make the practical advantages of solar energy clear. On being questioned about the possibility of demand against charges in Indian context, Dipl-Phys Udo Moehrstedt, founder of IBC Solar advocated saying, ' Even if the installation charge for PV system is high, the maintenance and other charges, including, oil, gas, are much lower if compared with that associated with diesel.

'Sun-drenched India in particular can cover a large proportion of its energy needs through photovoltaics,' said Hohmeyer. As a next step IBC Solar has decided to partner with Refex Energy to address the utility-scale and stand alone photovoltaic projects in India. This business partnership will specialize in PV system integration that will include planning, engineering, implementation, and maintenance of solar installations ranging from small scale systems to megawatt solar PV power plants.

http://www.itexaminer.com/bangalore-solar-roofs-suck-up-the-rays.aspx

The Vice President of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari, will inaugurate the meet.Technologists, bureaucrats and key players from the scientific world will congregate to deliberate on a variety of issues including how to create very small computers and molecular machines that could perform vital engineering or medical tasks. Possibilities are huge: imagine all the volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, running into thousands of pages, engraved on the head of a tiny pin.

The Bangalore meet – Nanotechnology in India's Future – is spearheaded by Professor C.N.R. Rao, chairman of the science advisory council to the prime minister, who told a recent meeting on the subject that "the challenge before scientists today is make nano materials in large quantities so that these could be deployed by companies to manufacture novel products".Prof Rao, a world renowned nanotechnologist who is also the founder of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bangalore, is also seeding the Central Government's Nanotechnology Mission.

Government of India's Department of Science and Technology Secretary Dr T. Ramasami says the government is backing the Nanotech Mission by providing Rs 50 lakh special grant for nanotech start-ups. It has set aside nearly Rs 1, 000 crore funds for R&D labs and the academia as part of its nanoscience and technology initiative. Last year, a 14-acre nanotechnology research centre was opened at JNCASR near Jakkur, close to the new international airport in Bangalore. The nanotech market is expected to be a trillion dollar industry in the next five to seven years. The US, Japan, South Korea and China are betting big in nanotech research projects. The number of consumer goods using nano materials has touched over 600 products so far.

The Bangalore conference will focus on a broad spectrum of issues relating to nanotechnology, innovation, policy, investment, commercialisation and global opportunities. There will be separate sessions on nanotech in industry and manufacturing, energy and environment, health and pharma, electronics and chemicals, food and agriculture, and the road map for the Nanotech Mission.

What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is a branch of technology dealing with the manufacture of objects with dimensions of less than hundred nanometres and the manipulation of individual molecules and atoms. A nanometre – nm – derived from the Greek word for midget 'nano' indicates there are a billion nms to a metre, with each nm three to five atoms wide. To give you an idea: 30,000 times smaller than the width of an average human hair.

They are really small. But their potential is really big as nanotechnology embraces many different fields and specialties, including engineering, chemistry, electronics and medicine… all concerned with bringing existing technologies to a tiny scale that can be measured in nms.

It is the only station that plays Bollywood music among the seven private FM players in Bangalore. To sum up the positioning of the station, it would be apt to quote media planners who are of the opinion that Radio One provides a unique platform for advertisers as the station’s offering allows for advertisers to reach a diverse audience.

On the way ahead, Shyju Varkey, Station Head, Radio One Bangalore, informed exchange4media, “It is to build on the gains that have accrued thus far and strengthen our hold on our listeners by building strong communities. We have a slew of really interesting community building initiatives under way and the larger picture is to offer these communities as platforms for advertisers to build their brands.”

Talking of the learnings in the past two years, Varkey elaborated, “The radio market in Bangalore is very complex and I’d look askance at anyone who claims to have cracked it. I suspect there will be another churn before it settles down. At least one, if not both of the players who gravitated towards Kannada recently, will come scurrying back to Bollywood. It is actually a question of ‘when’, rather than ‘if’.”
He added, “The second is that while size does matter, the Davids have a very good chance of slaying the Goliaths as long as they can innovate – not just in content, but also in packaging their proposition to advertisers. Radio One in Bangalore might never be a No. 1 in sheer numbers, but I wouldn’t be far off the mark if I say we are the perceptual leaders when it comes to our core franchise, that is, Sec AB 18-24 – Bangalore’s fataafat generation, which also happens to be the most influential franchise when it comes to a majority of the advertisers.”

Varkey continued that more learnings came from the fact that even in the incestuous radio market, engendering the right work culture was the surest bet for retaining talent. He said, “One of our finest achievements has been that our attrition rate is less than 5 per cent annually, and we have not lost a single person to another radio station.”

He further said, “The fourth and probably the most important aspect is the total carte blanche given by the management to the individual profit centres of Radio One. The thinking is that the people who know a market best are the ones who operate in it. In the past two years, there hasn’t been a single decision that has been shoved down our throats, or a single idea emanating from here that has been vetoed. The openness and the trust reposed by the management upon those who have their hands on the wheel have been exemplary.”

It may be noted that Radio One did not manage to stick to the game plan which it had charted when it was launched in Bangalore. “We have learnt along the way and have had to make adjustments to carve out a niche for ourselves. We were the first station in Bangalore to start playing Kannada music. When we saw the rest follow us, we had to chart out a whole new roadmap to stay fresh and relevant. When the whole market moved towards Kannada, we went the opposite way, towards Bollywood,” said Varkey.

He concluded, “Radio One has always been known for bold experimentation, innovative ideas and packages, creating an atmosphere of infinite possibilities. We believe that it is our unique, innovative programming that engages our audience, making sure that we are right at the top of the list.”

Importantly, it will be an opportunity to get foreign publishing houses take interest in Indian language titles, he said and observed “Among Kannada titles as on date, we have only U R Ananthamurthy’s ‘Samskara’ translated into German.” BBF has been growing by 10 to 15 per cent in terms of stalls and visitors.
The challenge is to create readers in this age of computers, video games and other multi-media diversions, he added.

Located on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is India’s third most populous city[2] and fifth-most populous urban agglomeration.

It is home to numerous public sectors such as heavy industries, software companies, aerospace, telecommunications, machine tools, heavy equipment, and defence establishments. Bangalore is known as the Silicon Valley of India owing to its pre-eminent position as the leading contributor to India’s IT industry.[3] Bangalore has developed into one of India’s major economic hubs and was mentioned by CNN as one of the “best places to do business in the wired world”.[4]

Though historically attested at least since 900 CE, Kempe Gowda I, is widely regarded as the founder of modern Bangalore, he built a mud fort and established it as a province of the Vijayanagara Empire. During the British Raj, it became a centre for colonial rule in South India. The establishment of the Bangalore Cantonment brought in large numbers of migrants from other parts of the country. Since independence in 1947, Bangalore grew to become the capital of Karnataka state. Today, as a large and growing metropolitan in the developing world, Bangalore is home to some of the most well-recognized colleges and research institutions in India, and has the second-highest literacy rate in the nation.source: http://www.nationmaster.com
