You will see a notification like this:

“New filter created with given conditions. Verification pending. Filter based forwarding can be enabled only after verification. Filters will be applied only for the emails that arrive from now on and you cannot use ‘Run through’ for filter based forwarding to auto-forward older emails“

Now Zoho Mail will send a verification link to the forwarding address. Open that email and you will see something like this:

Email auto-forwarding has been setup from [EMAIL] to automatically forward the incoming emails to the account [EMAIL].

To confirm and consent to receive auto-forwarded emails from the account, the following confirmation code should be entered in the Zoho settings for email forwarding in the [EMAIL] account.

Once verified, the email forwarding will be enabled in the [EMAIL] account and [EMAIL] account will receive emails automatically based on the forwarding setup.

What is Paypal

Paypal is one of the most widely used online payment processors, allowing you to send, receive and manage money safely. Millions rely on it for shopping, subscriptions and business transactions.

I’ve been using them for years, and while their fees are kinda high, and their support not so great, they are necessary if you’re doing business online.

Some other great payment platforms that I’ve been using for a long time without issue are Payoneer and Wise.

Getting Locked Out of My Account

At one point, I got locked out of PayPal because I couldn’t receive the SMS code needed to log in. My mobile provider apparently doesn’t allow these verification texts, which left me stuck outside my account.

I did call my mobile number provider, and they jerked me around. Then I had to choose whether to escalate the situation with them, so that they send my problem to the technical department or whatever, or if I should just call Paypal and see if they can change the phone number in my Paypal account. Calling Paypal seemed like the faster way to resolve the situation, so that’s what I did…

Accessing My Account Again

To fix this, I called PayPal support. They helped me update my account with a different phone number. Once I did that, I was able to receive the SMS code and finally log back in.

But I couldn’t log back in immediately, as I had previously tried logging in too many times, and the Paypal security system locked me out. Even their support couldn’t undo it. So I had to wait about 72 hours before I could actually log back in.

Lucky for me that I have a few extra SIM cards laying around, and they’re not all registered with the same phone company. The other number I gave worked!

Setting Up Authenticator

This experience showed me how risky it is to depend only on SMS verification. To avoid future lockouts, I decided to set up Google Authenticator for PayPal. This way, I don’t have to rely on my mobile provider/number every time I log in.

How to Set Up Authenticator

• Log in to your PayPal account
• Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right)
• Click Security
• Under 2-step verification, choose Set Up
• Select Authenticator App and follow the on-screen steps
• Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator and confirm the 6-digit code

That’s it, your PayPal account is now linked to Google Authenticator.

What is Gmail

Gmail is Google’s free email service that allows you to send, receive, and organize emails. It offers features like search, spam protection, labels and folders, and integration with other Google services, making it a popular choice for personal and professional communication.

It is also the most popular and trustworthy email provider, which is important when registering accounts on various websites – everyone accepts Gmail. Creating a Gmail account basically means that you created a Google account, which also gives you a Youtube channel, blogger blog account, and access to a ton more services.

Some other noteworthy email providers are Outlook, Yahoo, GMX and Zoho.

Benefits of Forwarding Email

Email forwarding helps you manage multiple accounts from a single inbox, saving time and reducing clutter. It ensures you never miss important messages, allows you to organize emails more efficiently, and can even help automate workflows by directing specific emails to the right place. Forwarding is especially useful for business or personal accounts that you check less frequently.

Personally I own a number of Gmail accounts, and it would be a major hassle to check each of them daily or even occasionally to see if I have any new emails on any of them. This way I always receive all the emails in one place, and I never miss anything.

In fact, all of those Gmails actually forward all mail to my personal self-hosted domain email, and then that email account forwards everything to my main Gmail account. In this way, if anything ever happens to my Gmail account, I still have all my mail in my self-hosted domain email, which is hosted on Hostgator.

I’ve had this setup for years, and it works perfectly.

How to set up forwarding in Gmail

Setting things up is very quick and simple. First open your Gmail account, click the wheel in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click on “See All Settings“.

You will be taken to a page like this:

As you can see, I’ve already set up my forwarding in this account. There is also the option of forwarding only some of your mail by creating a filter. I never used this option, so I won’t talk about it.

Now you click on “Add a forwarding address“:

Add the email address where you want to forward your email to and click “Next“. Now a window will pop up, and you should click “Proceed“.

Now you will receive an email like this in your forwarding email address:

Now all you have to do is click the link to confirm the request.

In the end you should go back to the settings in your Gmail account and make sure that “Forward a copy of incoming mail to” is selected, and also choose what you want with the forwarded email to happen, with the options being:

• keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox
• mark Gmail’s copy as read
• archive Gmail’s copy
• delete Gmail’s copy

My experience with getting one of my websites blocked on Pinterest, appealing, and finding a workaround.

We blocked your website on Pinterest

One day out of the blue I received the above email from Pinterest, informing me that my website has been blocked on the platform.

The website in question is a digital marketplace, and social media services are being sold there. There are also services for Pinterest Followers and Repins (shares), which is probably why Pinterest banned the site on their platform.

There was not much I could do at this point, other than click the link in the email and appeal this suspension…

Appealing the Suspension

Seeing as Pinterest gave me the opportunity to appeal the suspension, I clicked the link in the email above, because why not.

This was the only move I had, and if the outcome was negative, I wouldn’t try to contact them to try to get them to reconsider, because the website that they banned is in fact selling the types of services that go against Pinterest’s policies and rules. You are not allowed to sell Pinterest Followers and Repins anywhere. So trying to escalate the situation by emailing them and contacting them on social media was pointless.

A few days later I received this unfortunate reply from them:

Hi there,

We’ve considered your appeal and decided not to unblock your website (###).

Please review the Community Guidelines for more detailed information on what Pinterest considers spam.

If you have further questions, you can contact us through our Help Center.

So they decided to not unblock my website. This means that my website is permanently suspended on Pinterest, and I cannot make any new posts/pins which include my website URL as the destination. When I say permanently banned, I mean, who really knows, maybe a few years later the website gets unbanned (this happened to me on Facebook). But for all intents and purposes, that domain name is banned on Pinterest forever now.

To my surprise, they didn’t ban the Pinterest account that I had for the website in question. This was good news, because the account had a lot of posts and followers, and I would hate to lose them, especially the followers.

But now how would I share new posts from my website onto that account? Read below for my solution…

The Workaround

Unfortunately, there is no easy workaround to being allowed to share your website on Pinterest again.

The best way would be by getting a different domain name, and redirecting that domain to your website. So then you are sharing that new domain on Pinterest, and if anyone clicks to visit it, they get redirected back to your actual website. The problem with this is that it will cost a little bit of money and take some time and effort to set up. But in the end, Pinterest could ban that new domain at any moment, and then it was all for nothing, or you have to keep doing the same thing with a new domain every time it happens.

I have no interest in doing all of that, so I’m content with a two-step approach. What I do is I utilize the social media accounts that I have for my website, and I share the links from there onto Pinterest.

So for example, if I write a blog post on my website and share it on my Twitter or Linkedin page, then I take the URL from that post, create a new pin, and use that URL as the destination link on Pinterest. So now if anyone on Pinterest clicks to visit the link, they will be taken to that Twitter or Linkedin post. And then in that post they can click the link to go to my website. It takes a little more work, but better that than nothing. Besides, the people that really want to visit the destination link will still do that. It’s just one extra click.

Summary

In the end, while this sucks, it’s not the end of the world. I continue sharing my website’s posts on Pinterest, using social media URLs as the destination links, and it works. And the best part about it is that Pinterest cannot ban Twitter or Linkedin, so this method cannot really be blocked by them, other than banning my Pinterest profile/account… which they also do actually, so I have to be a little careful not to share stuff that Pinterest may really dislike… such as services selling Pinterest Followers or Repins.

In fact, I won’t share this article on Pinterest, because I give a workaround to get around their policy, and they may not like that
