Two Sault Ste. Marie construction firms are among the top contractors in Ontario. Today, Leslie Greenwood presented the awards to Ficmar Builders and George Stone and Sons LTD.

Ficmar picked up the Best Residential Builder and George Stone and Sons was named the overall general contractor award from Northern Ontario Construction News. Both companies were nominated for the each award category and voted as the People's Choice.

The second annual Ontario Construction Report Readers' Choice Awards attracted hundreds of votes from across the province, and the results reveal a diversity of successful businesses in every part of the province.

Voters selected their favorites in an on-line poll which concluded near the end of January. We tabulated the results, and have awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze recognition in categories where enough voters cast ballots.

Michael J. Martin Luxury Renovations in Ottawa received the Gold for Customer Service. Martin is now chair of the Ontario Home Builders' Association Renovators' Council. He also received Bronze awards for the Best All Around General Contractor and Best Residential Contractor.

Tomlinson Environmental Ltd. in Ottawa tied with Michael J. Martin for the most awards (companies could be nominated in several categories). Tomlinison received Gold recognition in the Outstanding Sub Trade category. The company also received Bronze Awards for Outstanding Customer Service, and Outstanding Construction Industry Supplier.

Reid and Deleye in Courtland Ontario received the most votes overall, in the General Contractor category. However, Silver winner George W. Stone in Sault Ste. Marie also received many votes in the most popular category for voters.
