Summer's here and summer's been here since I've finished finals two or three weeks ago, but now I'm back on campus, "indulging" myself in summer classes here at this dear old university ... cough. Obviously this isn't going to keep me from having fun, going to Cedar point, wandering around Chicago and frequenting the beach; it just means that I have class every day from 10 to noon, with tests at 8:30 on Fridays, and lab every Monday and Wednesday from 2 to 5PM plus reading and homework, which sounds like a ton but it actually isn't compared to what I deal with during the actual school year. And dare I say, I'm actually enjoy going to class. Maybe it also helps that afterwards, I have a whole double to myself to go back to, which is a lot cozier compared to sharing the same sized double with two other people two years not-in-a-row (Frosh and Junior years).

In other life related news:
- Jon & Kate plus 8 is my new favorite family; I even think they're better than the all mighty Jolie-Pitts, which might change once those twins are popped (i almost typed pooped) out, but in the mean time, I'm in love with the Gosselin kids and would love to run into them.

- Watched the season finale of Lost and was very confused, but I'm still not going to waste my time and watch all of seasons 2-4 to figure out what happened. I'll probably just wikipedia it instead. In other finale news, I can't believe I missed Ugly Betty!

- Treated myself to Sephora and sandals! Which I will probably post more about later. However, I'm without camera since my PIC has it in China, of all places, so actual pictures of anything will probably have to wait until August.

- Speaking of sandals, blisters ... ouch!

- Speaking of posting later, Philosophy's Help Me is on its way, even though it's been ... three weeks?

- King Sized snickers are my weakness along with sample sales ... and sephora and sandals. All start with 's'. Coincidence?

It would be pretty sweet if Christmas happened twice a year (winter and summer) or even every month, but alas it doesn't so I'm stuck to making wishlists and hoping that they eventually get picked up either by my dear family and friends or by my own pockets ... or the very last option, which is a combo of the previous two and which I usually resort to, by my own hands using my parents money. Sometimes, a girl just has to buy herself presents.

And I've been obsessing over a few, and it's been hard to keep it at a few, items recently, which I think would be perfect for this upcoming summer whether it be running around town, going out or staying in for a lazy Sunday. Hopefully by the end of this month or at the beginning of the next, I'll be able to get a few of these out of the way so I can make room for newer wants and obsessions.

Ooh, how it gets so unhealthy.

AI! So the internets stopped working yesterday, or more like the router decided to break leaving me without wireless thus with no internets. It sort of reminded me of the South Park episode when that happened, though less dramatic and I didn't have to move West to search for it. And I just realized that you (or at least I) can relate anything to a South Park episode, which is kind of sad or maybe just brilliant. Anyway, but everything is up and running, hooray! And I'm just crossing my fingers that my bad luck with routers is finally over ... I probably just jinxed myself.

In other life related news:

- went to the eye doctor and was told that my eyes are irritated, but not infected, so a few days without wearing contacts should clear up this whole irritation business unless my eyes get irritated again which means ... that yes ... they are indeed infected. So much for investing in circle lenses right now ...

- honey wheat rolls are probably the best thing ever

- i'm still obsessing over that gif of James Franco, seriously where do people find these things?

- speaking of obsessions, lolcats?

- countdown to returning back to campus ... oh joy

- & stressing over MCATs still hasn't kicked it, but when it does, I'll be ready with some yoga classes (hopefully)

In order to start anew with this baby, I thought the best place to start was with me personally ... as dorky as that may be. So when I was out running errands to, I picked up Philosophy's Help Me. I've never used Philosophy's products before except for Hope in a Jar, which I didn't like because of the smell, but since there are numerous consumers out there and beauty fanatics who absolutely adore Philosophy, I decided to give their Help Me product a try.

Help Me, is a retinol treatment used at night to help prevent fine lines, discoloration and large pores. I have the latter two, the first due to not properly taking care of my skin earlier on and the second due to just pure genetics. And even though I already use a mattifying lotion in the mornings to help me with my pores, I thought it wouldn't hurt to give my skin an extra boost. I have also not used any retinol based treatments before so I don't know how my skin will react, but I have pretty tough skin so I'm not too worried about any adverse effects, or major ones at least.

Anyway, for the price ($45) I hope this product really works. And in the next week, I will be keeping track of my progress through Twitter and here. And so far this is how I've used the product: cleanse skin with Fresh Umbrian Clay Face Treatment, then apply Help Me followed by moisturizer. So all in all, I hope that's a pretty good routine to stick to. And let's hope the results will be just a good. Until then.

Things feel different, at least to me they do. I welcome change, the kind of change that indicates progress and brings apples with smiley faces drawn on them, the good stuff that makes everything okay. But this time, it's too close to me. And I am scared because I don't know ... and not knowing how this change is going to affect what I hold so close and dear to me scares me. I really haven't been myself lately, that scares me as well. But I've been doing what I do best: pretending. Sometimes it makes everything better and so I will continue to pretend until I'm too numb to react to anything anymore.

All I want to do now is watch disney movies because they bring me back to when I was a little kid, when I wasn't worried or scared. And all I want is to stay in bed, huddled in a little ball under the covers because that's where I feel safe. Even then, my conscious still prods me and sleep never comes. I think I tired my heart out, but even then, it still can't rest either.

But back to playing pretend and fake smiles...

Instead of studying for my Animal Behavior test, I discovered this lovely movie. And in my opinion, a whole lot better than The Notebook, which I fell asleep watching. I suppose I'm the only girl who has ever done that. But Penelope is a lot quirkier and just down right adorable ... it also helped that they played Sigur Rós at the end and a good soundtrack is always key for me, case in point: Sunshine.

... and speaking of movies, I heard there's a psychological thriller (one of my favorite genres) in the making starring Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page. I can tell it's going to be one of my favorites already ...

Recently, there's been this theme involving pinup girls with animal heads, cigarettes and mushrooms, though I think the cigarettes are just a phase, we'll see. But there is something soothing about that combination ... I think school is making me delirious, harhah ... so I won't go into detail. Either way, I think it would be a good tag project. Now all I have to do is make it cutesy so it's less ... weird?

There is actually a lot going on right now. People are buzzing, whispering and speculating, waiting for the final word ... email after email keeping us on the edge of our seats in a bad way. It's weird, I think I partied with one of them last Friday. But you move on, you almost have to, and I can't say I had any emotional attachment, that would be claiming something that was wrongfully mine. I should just leave it at that.

Anyway, something completely separate from the above pissed me off the other day. I won't mention detail details, but all I have to say: a classmate studying abroad this semester in Beijing. And no offense, I don't know how the hell he got in the program let a lone got into the intermediate level at 北大 (Beijing University), the Harvard of China, with his lackluster knowledge of the Chinese language and pronunciation skills ... I shudder at the very thought ... anyway, here's an excerpt from his traveler's blog.

"At the noodle restaurant I was talking about, the waitress was pretty clueless and couldn't even understand our Chinese and was having serious trouble understanding us telling her someone wanted a bottle of water (most people understand us pretty well so this was a rarity) so our table was talking in English about how she was a stupid bitch when she was right there and she had no idea. Kind of funny"

Seriously? I guess it's kind of nice to be able to talk in a different language but WHAT? That just makes me sick. How can you possibly piss on someone when they can't understand your spoken Chinese, when you're the one who is in a DIFFERENT country studying ABROAD and who is supposed to know the language decent enough to ask for a cup of water. If you think the waitress was a "stupid bitch" then I wonder what that makes you? The privileged, big bad foreigner who was lucky enough to study a different language at a prestigious University and who was lucky enough to get into a study abroad program. Bullshit. Show some respect. You're 20, 21. Not funny.

And now my computer is making noises at me ... so I should cut this. But yes, when I read that, it did make me feel like that kid who loves to fuckin' color, just replace a crayon with a bat and a crazy asian girl who loves to beat disrespectful pieces of shit senseless.
