Well&nbsp;this year was really busy for me personally and professionally that I hardly had any time to do this stuff. Well&nbsp;this year was really busy for me personally and professionally that I hardly had any time to do this stuff. Anyway, what really inspired me to write again is after watching a couple of films in the Metro Manila Film Festival. It disgust me to learn that until now the film fest award body&nbsp;jury&nbsp;looked over&nbsp;the supposed to be real winners of this&nbsp;film event.&nbsp;The movie&nbsp;that I think was snubbed of the best Picture&nbsp;is the&nbsp;film Rosario. The film Rosario was directed by&nbsp;veteran Filipino actor and experience&nbsp;film enthusiast Albert Martinez. Set in the Philippines during the early 20th century (American Occupation), the story is about a woman named Rosario who grew up from a very affluent Filipino family,&nbsp;but due to the&nbsp;crucial decisions she made during the span of her lifetime, the course of her life suddenly turned to a different path. From an easy going life as a&nbsp;Haciendero's Unica Hija Rosario was awakened to the harsh realities of life. Rosario is probably the best MMFF film I've seen since the movie Rizal starring Cesar Montano. Unlike the usual Filipino films, Rosario is&nbsp;more detailed and colorful because of its sophisticated costumes and props. The&nbsp;cinematography and the technical quality was just fair though,&nbsp;but I believe that with&nbsp;a better budget and&nbsp;a more&nbsp;experience&nbsp;Albert Martinez&nbsp;direction,&nbsp;it would have been maximize and place into greater heights.&nbsp;This did not diminish the overall quality of the film though&nbsp;since&nbsp;the story was also great and intriguing, my only complain , is that I wished it stand another 30 min. as it narrated more about the life of the estranged character. With a Philippine movie Industry congested of Slapstick, Horror&nbsp;and Romantic Comedies,&nbsp;the historical value&nbsp;of Rosario is something rarely seen in Filipino films nowadays. No disrespect to Ai-Ai delas Alas, she is a very&nbsp;good actress and for the years of experience and great contribution to the industry she also deserves this award.&nbsp;But I think&nbsp;that if there was a&nbsp;more experienced and&nbsp;apolitical jury with a&nbsp;better criteria in giving out such awards, the Actress&nbsp;Jennelyn Mercado&nbsp;should have won and director Albert Martinez should have at least been nominated best Director. Also, No disrespect to&nbsp;the&nbsp;best picture&nbsp;winner "Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na to" but I feel that&nbsp;Rosario is a more artistically and&nbsp;socially&nbsp;relevant film. It is what Filipino films should be. &nbsp;I don't know for what reason, is it education??, corruption?? etc.??,&nbsp;but if we want to revive this Filipino film Industry and compete Internationally, one great start would be the improvement of&nbsp;our award giving bodies. Junior is a young man experiencing the life of adolescence as he tries to kindle a relationship with another conservative yet complicated young girl named Evangeline. The father of Junior, Mr.Cesar Blanco is a consistent womanizer that is married to Junior's strict and stubborn mother Mrs.Carolina Blanco. A leper named Bertong Ketong also roams around town. Even with his good intentions and selflessness, he tries to find compassion and love from his townsfolk, The town in itself and its locals is corrupted by Gossip, lies and Old traditions that has the potential to pull the town back instead of it moving forward. With that in mind, What is now in store for this small Philippine town?? Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang is Lino Brocka's masterpiece of all his masterpieces. It is a film that shows the harsh realities that some people experience in the Philippine culture. I should also give credit to Mario O'hara for writing a great script&nbsp; and a story. It was very moving and detailed as he is able to write very good socially significant stories relating to the Filipino. Mario O' Hara is one of the greatest Filipino cinema writers of our time. The movie was also blessed with some of the greatest Filipino artist in Christopher De Leon, Hilda Koronel, Eddie Garcia, Lilia Dizon and Lolita Rodriguez who played a very exceptional role as the mentally challenged Kuala. Mario O'Hara himself was in the movie and was moving and influential as he played Bertong Ketong. Though his role was quite disturbing at times, you will definitely feel for the leper that O'hara played. With the movie's story, the vision of Lino Brocka and a group of exceptional Filipino talents, Tinimbang ka ngunit Kulang turned out to be a great piece of art caught on camera. Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang is a movie that reminds us about a lot of moral issues. It criticizes the negative aspects of not only the Filipino culture but also the negative aspects of human behavior so that we could turn it into positive ones to change for the better. The film taught me that at times, it is better to do the right thing than to do what's popular specially if the popular is morally incorrect. In any case, I still want to catch up with a recent film that I just saw last Friday. This film has a certain effect on me and I want to share this effect with the people who plan to purchase the film Greg Roasa I know its past holy week and it is actually Easter. In any case, I still want to catch up with a recent film that I just saw last Friday. This film has a certain effect on me and I want to share this effect with the people who plan to purchase the film and&nbsp; to the people who might have seen the film on Television. The film's title which you could read above is The Stoning of Soraya M. which is based on&nbsp; the novel written by Freidoune Sahebjam. The movie&nbsp; is a true story that discusses about a very significant issue in our world today, Women's rights. The story&nbsp; starts in a secluded small Iranian Village where a French/Iranian journalist named Freidoune Sahebjam on his way past the border broke his car. Freidoune due to this had to ask for help in the small village for his car to get fix. In an odd manner, a mid-aged woman named Zahra approaches him with a dark secret to tell about the village and its inhabitants. One by one the secrets are revealed by Zahra to Sahebjan as he learns that because of the little village's negligence and corrupt leaders, a woman named Soraya M. died unjustly because of a radical execution of stoning the day before. This alarms Freidoune as he vows and promises through his journalism to tell the world about the unjustly customs that happen in Iran and most specially its women. &nbsp; The Stoning of Soraya M. is a very good film.&nbsp;The film was produced by the people behind the Passion of Christ and directed by Iranian descent Cyrus Nowrasteh.&nbsp;It discusses about the suffering and the inequalities of the women in Iran. The film even with a meek budget and a simple setting exceeded my expectations. Just by watching you could have a feel of being in a remote Iranian province. The costumes were descent, All languages were mostly spoken in Iranian and the characters as well are mostly from an Iranian heritage. The cast was made of great performers and veterans in Academy nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo,&nbsp;TV-Movie veteran actress&nbsp;Mozhan Marno and&nbsp;veteran actor&nbsp;James Caviezl who played Jesus in The Passion of Christ. Added to that is a group of&nbsp; other talented Iranian artist. It is sad though that Stoning of Soraya M. didn't do&nbsp; well in the box office as it only got around $650,000 on its first week of showing but Ironically&nbsp; some films that get bad financial gains are the ones that turn out critically acclaimed. In fact if this movie was nominated for an Oscar in any category, I would not protest. Stoning of Soraya M. is a highly significant film that would open your eyes on what is happening to Women not only in Iran but to other parts of the World. It is actually disappointing to learn that until now, some women in other countries are still maltreated and are not seen as an equal with their male counterparts. Some women specially in countries like Iran are not given a fair trial in court, they are seen more by men as sexual objects and infant producing machines, and worst they can be easily be stoned to death just because of committing adultery even when her husband&nbsp; has committed it before her or 10X as much as her. I'm not justifying women not to be punished for committing adultery, I'm just saying that they should be given a fairer treatment instead of getting punished inhumanely by stoning or by any other cruel means of execution. I think some old traditions regarding women's rights don't apply in this present world. I'm actually glad that with my simple blog, I can actually tell the world about the story of Soraya M. I hope that this simple review of mine could help open some people's eyes.&nbsp; For me women should be treated equally as men weather what culture you are from. Women to me might not be generally physically strong as men yet in all other aspects women can be as great, In fact women can be even better. Messala is an ambitious individual who would do anything advantageous for the glory of Rome and one of them is asking Judah to&nbsp;round up&nbsp;the opposing Judeans and incriminate them.&nbsp;Ben-Hur refusing to&nbsp;betray his own people had a very personal argument with Messala&nbsp;and&nbsp;with this&nbsp;instance&nbsp;Judah's life changed as his family is&nbsp;now persecuted by the Roman Army and he is sold to slavery.&nbsp;As years go by&nbsp;Judah's life seem to&nbsp;get bitter and more hopeless for him yet one day as he was walking on a mountain gathered with people,&nbsp;Judah meets a man. This man has a certain aura and radiance that made Judah&nbsp;and&nbsp;a lot of&nbsp;people listen to him and be at ease with his presence.The man's name is&nbsp;Jesus and through him Judah would learn that in life even though how worst it could be, in the end&nbsp;there is always Hope after all.&nbsp; Ben-Hur was directed by The great William Wyler and is a film that I would consider&nbsp;of epic proportions. During the 50's, the&nbsp;film Ben-Hur&nbsp;could be equaled to the visuals, settings and budget&nbsp;of a&nbsp; Lord of The Rings&nbsp;or of an Avatar. Ben-Hur&nbsp;at its time was&nbsp;one of the most&nbsp;high budgeted films at $15 Million Dollars&nbsp;and through this film you can definitely&nbsp;see how it was utilize with&nbsp;its great camera angles, the technicolor, the number of extras which was probably more than&nbsp;a thousand, the costumes, the great &nbsp;props and equipment,&nbsp;the great cast&nbsp;and the magnificent settings.&nbsp;All of this contributed to the film's success during the 50's. This garnered Ben-Hur a Historical 11 Academy Award wins including Best Picture and is matched only by films like Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: Return of The King.&nbsp; The film also garnered the Best Director award for William Wyler, Best Supporting actor award for Hugh Griffith and a Best Actor award for the Legendary Charlton Heston. When I see Charlton Heston, he reminds me of one of&nbsp;a few actors that could play epic roles with brilliance. A performance that you'll remember for a lifetime. If you would compare Ben-Hur to the&nbsp;visuals and the stories of the movies of today, you would find Ben-Hur probably cheesy and out of date and with that is&nbsp;probably a very dragging and time consuming screen play.&nbsp;Yet, I would argue that because of Ben-Hur movies of today have to reach a certain standard because of standards that epic movies like Ben-Hur has achieved. Epic Movies of today were benchmark from the likes of Ben-Hur and constantly improves through the years.&nbsp; Ben-Hur is a movie that would not only give&nbsp;the audience&nbsp;great value for it sights and setting but also give an individual&nbsp;great values of morality. It is not set in an oriental country like the ones in the movies Platoon or Apocalypse Now. It is not set in the 1940's World War II like in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan and most of Greg Roasa&nbsp; The Messenger is not your typical war or soldier movie. It is not set in an oriental country like the ones in the movies Platoon or Apocalypse Now. It is not set in the 1940's World War II like in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan and most of all The Messenger does not contain the violence, the gunshots, the splattering guts and gore of a typical war movie. The Messenger's war is different, it is a war against emotions and terrorizing experiences of two soldiers who've been there and share it to the viewers by the means of an unusual military duty. Staff Sergeant Will Montgomery after a recent deployment to Iraq was sent back home after getting hit by an explosive device that was in close range to him. Back in the States, Will faces some morality issues, having an affair with an engaged woman which in turn brings him&nbsp; in the realization of trying to find his real purpose in life&nbsp;as a person and&nbsp;as an American soldier. Coincidentally, Will&nbsp; is assigned to a new assignment that would change his life forever. This assignment requires a different kind of skill that relies on mental toughness, patience and understanding. With this in mind and under&nbsp;Capt.Tony Stone, Will learns that though this assignment is not fought with guns nor grenades, this assignment has its own dangers and fall backs. Directed by Oren Moverman, The Messenger is a good movie and depicts the US/Iraq war on a different light which is unusual in soldier movies nowadays. It does not have hi tech equipment or hi tech effects. It just has two powerful characters in Staff Sgt.Will and Capt. Tony Stone who gave you a feel of what it is like experiencing the aftershocks of a war and a very good story to go along with it. Both Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson played exceptional roles for this movie. Woody Harrelson was powerful as Capt. Tony Stone as he played the role with conviction.&nbsp;He was nominated&nbsp;for best supporting actor in the&nbsp;82nd Academy Award for this film and was a favorite to win it. Though Ben Foster was not recognized for this film, I still think that&nbsp;Ben played his role well and has a potential to be an A-Lister in Holywood.&nbsp;&nbsp;I feel that&nbsp;all that Ben Foster has to do is&nbsp;play more roles of this caliber and eventually&nbsp;with his perseverance and patience, he will get&nbsp;his share of the limelight for his future films.&nbsp; Again if you are looking for an action packed, content heavy war film I would not recommend&nbsp; The Messenger. Yet, after being invited by the school to join&nbsp;a GED program called "Each One Teach One" Precious learns that a more fruitful life for her is never impossible, as she&nbsp;given hope to bounce back from&nbsp;a terrible crossroad.&nbsp; Produced by Ophrah Winfrey and directed by&nbsp;Lee Daniel's Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire broke barriers this year as it was nominated&nbsp;for 6 Academy Awards in the 82nd Academy Awards last March. It was nominated for four major awards which was for Best Picture, Best Director for Lee Daniels, Best Actress for Gabourey Sidebe, and the Best Supporting Actress which was won by Mo'Nique. I was actually hands down with Mo'Nique's performance as Precious mother, Mary Lee Johnston. She really did deserve her Oscar.&nbsp;Mo'Nique's performance was&nbsp;so powerful that&nbsp;&nbsp;you would end up&nbsp;hating &nbsp;her&nbsp;movie character but loving her for her role and acting talents.&nbsp;&nbsp;Gabourey Sibide's&nbsp;Oscar story&nbsp;in the other hand is very inspiring itself, she&nbsp;was a 27 year old college girl who had&nbsp; to skip school one day to&nbsp;audition for the&nbsp;part of Precious and the next thing you know she ends up&nbsp;being nominated&nbsp;for Best Actress with the likes of Meryll Streep, Sandra Bullock and Helen Mirren.&nbsp;Sibide was just great for her part as&nbsp;Claireece "Precious" Jones as she exceeded all expectations even though she was a newcomer. You'd feel and sympathize for her role as Claireece in the movie and in a way you'd find her character adorable. Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire is a very inspiring film. It shows us that one must not give up and always move forward in life no matter what the cost. All of us has a "Precious" inside of us. Yes we might not be overweight, we might not have an unhappy family, we might not have experienced being bullied&nbsp;just like and&nbsp; we might not feel that we are the most attractive and likable individuals just like Claireece yet still all of us have are own weaknesses and insecurities.&nbsp;And just like Claireece those weaknesses and insecurities should not stop us from achieving our goals and dreams. The other one is a photographer named Adam and the other is Lawrence Gordon, a doctor with a wife and a daughter. The other one is a photographer named Adam and the other is Lawrence Gordon, a doctor with a wife and a daughter. Both men are chained in the ankle sticking to the pipes. In the middle is a dead man with a revolver and a cassette recorder. In the recorder when played, both men are given an Ultimatum by a strange voice known to Lawrence&nbsp; as the infamous Jigsaw killer, It says that Adam must be able to escape and Lawrence must kill Adam before 6 o'clock. To what reason??&nbsp; is still a mystery to both. Adam and Lawrence are in a state of semi panic but in a few moments they try to recollect themselves, find answers to the mystery as they try to flashback on what led them in their current state and at the same time find any means of escaping the dreaded situation. Before I saw this movie. I thought Saw would be another of those gross horror flicks where you see hands or legs being chopped off. Yet Saw, from what I've seen is more than that. It is an underestimated Horror/Thriller with a great cast and an above average story. Cary Elwes was great playing Dr. Lawrence Gordon. I say that&nbsp;this role&nbsp;is one of his best performances as an actor specially since he is always stereotyped for his usual&nbsp;comedic&nbsp;roles (Robin Hood Men in Tights, the Loser Boyfriend in Liar Liar)in his past films. In this movie Elwes lost that persona as he became an actor for more serious roles.The movie also benefited from a great cast in&nbsp;veteran movie actor&nbsp;Danny Glover and a bunch of veteran series actors in Dina Meyer, Ken Leung, Michael Emmerson, Monica Potter, Shawnee Smith and Tobin Bell.&nbsp; I thought they were a great cast even though most were not so known in mainstream film. The writer of the&nbsp;movie&nbsp;Leigh Whannel was also in the&nbsp;film as he played the very crucial role of Adam. Saw was directed by James Wan a friend of Leigh Whannel who he met in film school. Both guys because of this movie, is now what I consider probably&nbsp;one of the greatest and most creative young&nbsp;talents of this present time. Saw is one of the most witty and smartest horror movies I've ever seen. Though quite violent and repulsive, It's the mystery of the story that really&nbsp;keeps you in a suspended thrill. I actually wonder why a lot of critics down rate this movie. I guess for some, the movie was just so bloody and violent that they never payed real attention to where the story takes them. Saw for now, is probably just another horror movie for old fashioned movie critics, yet I guess 20 years from now people would look back and say that Saw is one of those great horror movies to remember. I guessed just to continue with the momentum, I decided to do another review about another astronaut/space movie. The movie is probably very popular to a lot of you readers out there. The title is Apollo 13. Jim Lovell is living his dream, he has a great family with 4 four children and works in one of America's most reputable institution in NASA.&nbsp;With Ken Mattingly and Fred Haise,&nbsp;Jim&nbsp;works and trains as an Astronaut &nbsp;for a future Apollo 14 mission to the moon. Yet when NASA suddenly changed&nbsp;their plans, Jim, Ken and Fred are sent to a more earlier scheduled mission in Appolo 13. Another story evolves as Ken is diagnosed with measles and replaced by Jack Swigert. Now, the Apollo 13&nbsp;mission is down to a new Trio in Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert. They launch on April 11th 1970&nbsp;hoping to fufill their lifelong dream and a successful Lunar mission on the surface of the moon. Based on a True Story, Apollo 13 is one of the Best adaptations of a story on film about the Apollo 13 mission of 1970. The movie was directed by The great Ron Howard who also directed A Beautiful Mind. Ron Howard did a great job adapting the story of this brave men on film. I could really feel the&nbsp;late 60's feeling when every man in the world wonder how one can travel and walk in space. The effects where also great as they showed&nbsp;what&nbsp;NASA would have looked liked, what a rocket ship would have been liked when your near it, and how gravity defies&nbsp;the human's normal capacity when you are in space. It was very realistic. The movie was also formed by a great cast in Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Ed Harris,&nbsp;Gary Sinese and Kathleen Quinlan. All this actors performed to their expectations as it garnered 9 Academy nominations including Best Supporting roles, Lead Role, Director and Best Picture. Apollo 13&nbsp;was&nbsp;definitely an unquestioned&nbsp; Oscar caliber film with its great talent, story, visual effects and cinematography during the 1995 Academy Awards. Apollo 13 is a great movie and an great adaptation of the courageous Apollo 13 mission to the moon. The movie deals with the determination, camaraderie, and&nbsp;the undying human spirit. At Night a mask man known as the Iron Monkey does work ala- Robin Hood. He is very skilled in martial arts as he steals from the corrupt authorities and gives to the poor. This makes the Governor so enraged that he wants the Iron Monkey caught and killed. In the meantime, a Father and son tandem named Wong Kei-Ying&nbsp;and Wong Fei Hung from Foshan travels to the small Chinese town. Wong Kei Ying is a very good martial artist, a good disciplinarian and trains his son Wong Fei Hung very well and&nbsp;due to a fight involvement with some street thugs, Wong Kei Ying is suspected by the Governor's soldiers as The Iron Monkey. Both Father and son is then arrested by the Governor and in order for Wong Kei Ying to prove his innocence he would have to hunt down the Iron Monkey himself. This mission would then lead Wong Kei Ying&nbsp;to know more about his opponent, himself and about the town's grim situation. Directed by Yuen Wo Ping, Iron Monkey is a great Kung Fu movie that inspired the fighting chorography of such hits like&nbsp;&nbsp;"The Matrix" and Hidden&nbsp;Dragon, Crouching Tiger. The action is non-stop, and the Kung-Fu movements and stunts are one of the best ever chorograph on film.&nbsp;The setting and the costumes of the movie were great too.&nbsp;In fact even Quentin Tarantino had high praises for this film and .produced it under Miramax films for the American Market. Actors like Donnie Yen and Yu Rong Guang were perfect for their parts as well. Both of them didn't only train acting but trained so hard as well for their martial&nbsp;arts scenes I've only seen Iron Monkey just recently and&nbsp;if you were to&nbsp;compare it&nbsp;with other martial arts flicks of today, there is definitely a difference. Iron Monkey would not be as flashy with the high tech action sequences of today yet it would sure&nbsp;still impress and &nbsp;have a very&nbsp;solid one. We should also remember that this film was made 17 years ago which means that this film &nbsp;is one of the pioneers. At that time this movie was one of a&nbsp;kind and one of the first to come up with such a concept. Iron Monkey side by side with other Chinese movie greats is a Landmark in the&nbsp;Kung- Fu movie genre and even in the action category.. Coincidentally, they hear in the radio that they must evacuate and protect themselves because the dead are strangely rising from their graves, going walking on a killing spree and spreading this Zombie decease to anyone they touch. With a trailer truck in hand, with only each other and a digital Video camera to rely on,&nbsp; Jason, Debra, Mary, Tony, Gordo, Tracy, Eliot, and their adviser Prof. Andrew Maxwell are on the run to the safest place possible and away from the gruesome outside world. If you are a fan of George A. Romero's Dead series (Dawn of The Dead and Land of The Living Dead), This would probably be a movie you would like to watch. This new installment has a different twist to it. It's like watching a zombie horror movie with a twist of The Blair Witch Project. To add more realism to the story, the movie had some character named Jason holding a camera, as if the movie was some type of a documentary program. He narrated the whole story on film and even interviewed each of the persons involved with him. George A. Romero also tries to adapt with the technology age as Laptops, Youtube, and other technological gadgets are involved in the story. Yet from a movie aficionados point of view, I was not really that impress with Diary of the Dead unlike past Romero films. I found the movie's story to be very simple accompanied by unknown actors with not so good acting. I'd actually live with the unknown talents but bad acting is an issue that I can't live with. The movie turned out to be semi- predictable by the end of it. Overall , I'd still rate, Diary of The Dead as a good horror zombie movie. Compared to those other Teen Scary movies out there, Diary of the Dead is definitely two notches higher. First, because it has a better concept. Second, it is not as predictable. Third, it is not like those teen movies that rely on cheap thrills and excitement. And Fourth, it is directed by a genius in George A. Romero. Sadly and though great in some elements, Diary of the Dead&nbsp; is not the type of horror movie that would stick in your memory in much longer periods time yet you'll be sure to have it in your collection if you are a Romero fan. I never heard of Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman or Director Steven Spielberg. What I only knew back then is that I'm watching, a real life version of DisnGreg Roasa Man, I was so young back then and I didn't know any of the stars in this movie Hook. I never heard of Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman or Director Steven Spielberg. What I only knew back then is that I'm watching, a real life version of Disney's &nbsp;Peter Pan. I thought I would be disappointed&nbsp;after seeing&nbsp;Peter Pan all grown up and worst seeing it wasn't following the Disney sequence. Another issue that made me wonder as a kid, is why did they title the movie Hook?? I thought&nbsp;of Hook as the Villain and It's probably just an unusual for a kid to see a Villain being named after the movie's main title.&nbsp;Yet as the story progressed and as I finished the movie,&nbsp;I found out that I got more than what I bargained for. The movie is about Peter Banning, a career oriented family man.&nbsp; He is so career oriented that he is more busy with work and answering business phone calls over spending time with his family on vacations or even watching his son, Jack&nbsp; play in a baseball game. At his age, Peter Banning seems to be the typical uptight adult who doesn't have a trace of how it feels like to be a child again. With his wife Moira and his children Jack and Maggie, Peter Banning decides to return to his routes in London, a place where he was raised and taken cared of by Moira's grandma, a very known woman in the name of Wendy Angela Darling. As the family arrives, the first rule of Wendy is that in her house, "nobody is allowed to grow up". The whole Banning family happily agrees with the idea except for Peter who continues to bring his work on this holiday trip. Yet on an unexpected night, after coming home from a gathering, Peter and Moira find their children to suddenly disappear from their rooms. And from this incident, Peter finally learns in secret from Wendy, that a man named Capt. James Hook is the only possible suspect to the kids disappearance and the only one who can save them is him, Peter Pan. In disbelief and with the sudden appearance of a little fairy named Tinkerbell, Peter Banning travels to Neverland not only to find his his kids but to find his real self in the process. I don't know why some people never appreciated this movie??. I guess their the type of people who never really grew up with this film. Hook is a great film by Steven Spielberg, and a great rendition to a Peter Pan story. The movie has a star studded cast of Academy award names in Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins, Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman and now that I know their names compared when I was a kid, the movie was sure not to disappoint me now.&nbsp; Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman gave a lot of life in their respective parts. They were funny, very entertaining and most of all they were really acting, specially Dustin Hoffman who was very convincing as a real life Captain Hook.&nbsp; The movie was very detailed in special effects and had a very amazing setting. You could see how wonderful and magical Neverland is with the Pirates, the Hook Ship, the Lost Boys and their home, the blue waters, the mermaids and most specially the wonders of flying with just a mere happy thought. The story was good and unique too. I really like the new concept of this adult Peter Pan and Spielberg is such a genius to be able to translate this on film. Also, like most classic Steven Spielberg films, the music of John Williams adds more beauty and finesse to it. It is actually a given, every title that John Williams composes for a film turns into a very memorable sound experience and this includes Hook. Hook is one of my favorite movies as a child. I actually saw it a couple of nights ago and I still love it until now. This are movies that really makes you wish at times "to never grow up." By the way, that Rufio guy looks cool too. Though their family does not earn as much from their father's farming, they seem to be a happy and loving family. Though their family does not earn as much from their father's farming, they seem to be a happy and loving family. Yet, things are not well in Guatemala since a lot of poor people are oppressed by the rich and the government. Because of this a&nbsp;couple of locals including&nbsp;Arturo Xuncax,&nbsp;Enrique and Rosa's&nbsp;Father take part in this revolutionary effort by forming a labor union. The problem&nbsp;arises when&nbsp;&nbsp;Arturo Xuncax, gets caught and killed&nbsp;by the Guatemalan army men. This led to&nbsp;more problems as Enrique is also involved&nbsp; in the&nbsp;murder of a soldier after seeing his father dead. Rosa and Enrique's mother also disappears after the incident. Now with the Guatemalan officials trailing them,&nbsp;&nbsp;Rosa and Enrique &nbsp;make one of their most toughest decisions yet, they leave home and try to find greener pastures in&nbsp;the North, which is the U.S.A.&nbsp;even if it cost them their dignity, their integrity and their&nbsp;lives. El Norte is a very wonderful story that was filmed and written by Gregory Nava. This story was very realistically made. The setting is actually very simple, besides the Guatemalan mountains their is nothing really visually magnificent in the film but&nbsp;I guess Gregory Nava did not need an amazing setting just to get his message sent to his audience. Nava came up and&nbsp; made up by creating a great story,&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;film is mostly made up of unknown Mexican and Latino actors and I think Nava meant for them not be as good looking Latino's (the beautiful ones that&nbsp; we see mostly on Soap's),&nbsp;which I think worked well as it added more realism to the story. If they were place&nbsp;maked-up on, then I guessed that's one great make up artist they had. The two main characters were played by Zaide Sylvia Gutierrez and&nbsp; David Villalpando. Both actors gave very&nbsp; memorable&nbsp;portrayals of the characters, Enrique and Rosa. They were very skilled at their art and had great chemistry together.&nbsp; The camera sequence was great too. This movie was artistically done with very good taste specially with scenes that contain deep symbolical meaning. El Norte to me was like a moving painting with a very compelling story. El Norte is a very inspiring, powerful, and moving film about survival and determination. This is a very cultural significant film, this is the most&nbsp;eye&nbsp;opening film I've seen that deals with poor Latin citizen's diaspora to a more wealthy country like The United States. You see in this film that life is not easy for this people as they risk getting caught by authorities, getting robbed, feeling hunger, risking decease and at times getting shot to death. El Norte&nbsp;is&nbsp;not only an eye opener to Latino's but to people of all races, specially illegal immigrants who would do all means just to have a descent life in another country. This incident is a world wide problem and happens everyday in our ever changing world. I'm not patronizing what illegal immigrants do. I&nbsp;agree that&nbsp;they are breaking the law and it is absolutely&nbsp;wrong. One night Vincent with his girlfriend is found in a bar owned by Billiards legend "Fast" Eddie Felson beating some other Prodigy in Julian. Fast Eddie Felson quickly notices his talent and takes Vincent with his girlfriend under his wing to get seasoned for the big money&nbsp;Pool tournaments. He teaches Vincent the art of Hustling in games. Yet, Vincent is a hard head teach, he is young, immature and an ego freak which ruins Fast Eddie's real strategic plan for him. Vincent keeps on coming though, as he continues to be a bragger and a show off. This brings Eddie to the brink as he is motivated on going back to his routes which is playing Pool. Eddie trains hard, seasons himself , plays and hustles with the best players&nbsp;as it would lead to a future showdown with Vincent. Color of Money is a sequel to the Paul Newman classic "The Hustler". It is one of a few movies in Hollywood that deals with the life of&nbsp; hustling pool players.&nbsp; This is actually an unusual Martin Scorsese film since it is the first time I've seen him making a movie that does not deal with crime syndicates or the mafia. I found the movie to be good though. Paul Newman definitely did well in this film. He just has this certain style where he can easily shift to acting the character that is given to him. Paul Newman won the Best Actor in the 1987 Academy for the same character he played in the Hustler which also garnered him a nomination. Mary Elizabeth Mastratonio was a great actress as well in this movie as she was nominated&nbsp; for&nbsp;a best supporting award in the&nbsp;Academy. Yet, what makes me&nbsp;really&nbsp;wonder is why Tom Cruise never got noticed in this movie?? From what Ive seen Tom Cruise was very entertaining&nbsp;too. He was as good as any veteran actor or actress in this movie. I guess in that point &nbsp;in his time, he was stereotyped but I'm sure that he used this to motivate him to become what he is now. Forest Whitaker was also in the movie and also showed how talented he is even with a short scene. Color of Money is a good film though I never thought of the story to be in the same breath with great movies of 1987 nor with the same breath of other&nbsp; Martin Scorsese movies like Mean Streets, Good Fellas and Departed.&nbsp; I actually felt that there was something lacking in the film. I was thinking that the reason might be because of&nbsp; Scorsese not finishing the duel with Eddie and Vincent. But I guess that is Scorsese's style in film making and if he did not execute it&nbsp;that way, the Color of Money would have been just another one of those predictable&nbsp;Hollywood movies. I just finished my a hundredth movie review last night so I would like to start my 101th review with style. I'd like to start it with one of the best movies I've ever seen and probably the best Science fiction film ever. Yes, if you are thinking what I am thinking. This is it, Star Wars. I'm sure&nbsp;most of &nbsp;you folks already have an idea about the plot of this movie, yet for those people&nbsp;who need&nbsp;to be refreshed and for those of you&nbsp;who don't give a damn about this film and missed one of the greatest films of All time, I'll be writing a simple synopsis for you. The story starts in this&nbsp;manner. A long long Time ago in a Galaxy far far away.....&nbsp;and that is when&nbsp; we move forward. After a grueling battle&nbsp;of Rebel Alliance&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Galactic Empire&nbsp;space ships,&nbsp;Princess Leia is held captive by the&nbsp;evil Empire Forces under the command of Darth&nbsp;Vader.&nbsp;With the help of her Robots R2-D2 and C-3PO she sends a message of help to Obi Wan Kenobi by the use of the Robot R2-D2'S holographic image messenger. The Robots managed to escape the Imperial Invasion of the Rebel ship and crashes their escape plane in a nearby planet called Tatooine. Luckily, the robots were not badly destroyed as they reach safely under the care of a young man named Luke Skywalker. Yet, R2-D2 seeing that the message must reach the man Obi wan Kenobi as soon as possible went of to the desserts to find him. This led to Luke Skywalker and C-3PO to look for R2-D2 the next day and coincidentally due to some circumstance they meet Obi Wan Kenobi. Luke learns more about Obi Wan Kenobi and his past,&nbsp;&nbsp;Princess Leia, the evil&nbsp;Imperial&nbsp;forces and most specially the power of the Force.&nbsp;And after losing his aunts and unlcles from an Imperial attack on their home, Luke decides to acompany Obi Wan Kenobi.&nbsp;and they&nbsp;hire the services of a gallant pilot /smuggler Han Solo&nbsp;and his hairy Wookie friend Chewbacca.&nbsp;Without real knowledge of what they&nbsp;can be up&nbsp;against the&nbsp;group rides a super craft called&nbsp;the Millenium Falcon&nbsp;as it moves forward to Alderaan to save the Princess Leia and&nbsp; fufill a destiny they've never would have imagined. Created, written and Directed by the legendary George Lucas, Star Wars: A new Hope is one of the greatest movies ever made.&nbsp;&nbsp;I first saw Star Wars, when I was really young. I was probably around 8 years old that time and even if I just saw it on a small&nbsp;T.V., I got really hooked as it&nbsp; brought me to fantasy land.&nbsp;I can't even imagine how the movie would be if I saw it the first time in a real Theater&nbsp;instead of a Home screen, I have a feeling it's going to be surreal as if I was transported to another world. The effects of the movie was just so amazing. Even if it was a late 70's flick, with just a little adjustments Star Wars: A New Hope&nbsp; would still be able to&nbsp;hang with the visuals of today. The story also was very deep and compelling. I was really engrossed into it. It was like watching a Space Fantasy soap opera as the movie progressed. The characters, the ships, the settings were very colorful as well. You see different alien races, great looking space mediums and different "out of this earth"&nbsp;worlds. Star Wars was so great that it made household names out of unknown talents that time and made the known ones more prominent. It made&nbsp;Alec Guiness&nbsp; more popular as it also paved the way to his nomination for a best supporting role&nbsp;in the&nbsp;1978 Oscars. It also made celebrities out of&nbsp;Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew,&nbsp;Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Surprisingly, I might as well watch it before giving it to him sigh. The storyGreg Roasa I actually bought this movie for my little&nbsp;Godson, I wanted to buy him a "Ben 10 The Movie" but it wasn't available so I just ended up buying this animated movie instead. Surprisingly, I might as well watch it before giving it to him sigh. The story is quite simple. Lex Luthor's mining and digging &nbsp;project accidentally discovers an unidentified being soon to ba named Doomsday. This Doomsday's thinking is to destroy anything that is living and across its path. As&nbsp;Doomsday reaches&nbsp;Metropolis,&nbsp;The&nbsp;Last Son of Krypton, Superman&nbsp;faces&nbsp;the monster&nbsp;in&nbsp;what ended up to be the most violent confrontation&nbsp;his been in. Superman defeats the monster though, yet at the same time is killed as he was also beaten up to a pulp. This was a great lost to Louise Lane, to Metropolis and the whole world. Meanwhile Lex Luthor is on some secret project, and it kills his ego not to be the person to stop the man of steel. Yet after a couple of months without Superman, the biggest story hits Metropolis, "Superman is back from the Dead!!". Sketch and directed by Bruce Timm and Lauren Montgomery, The movie Superman: Doomsday&nbsp;is based on the DC&nbsp;Comic compilation and Graphic Novel "The Death of Superman". I was a bit disappointing though&nbsp;&nbsp;because &nbsp;it really didn't tackle a lot on&nbsp;Doomsday being the main aggressor. It tackled more&nbsp;on a new story against Lex Luthor and his&nbsp;evil Superman clone. If their real purpose was to reach a more younger audience with the new story, I guess they were successful with that.&nbsp;Yet, some lines from the movie&nbsp;are meant for the a more mature&nbsp;audience so it kinda&nbsp;confused me. If there was something positive about this film, is its unique animation style which was up to date with our ever changing world. Another positive feature is the used of veteran actors such as Adam Baldwin, Anne Heche and James Marsters as voices for the characters. The Death of Superman is one of my favorite compilations ever.&nbsp;Yet, to see the animation version of it didn't really made me satisfied. I kinda expected more from the film.&nbsp;I wish they could have added more history on Doomsday, more twist on the Superman and Louis Lane affair, and a longer confrontation with Doomsday which was the same reason they titled it that way right?? (Superman:Doomsday).&nbsp;&nbsp;If those elements were executed well, that would have probably been a different cartoon.&nbsp;&nbsp;For a cartoon that seems to be targeted for a mature audience, Superman: Doomsday's&nbsp;story&nbsp;is quite simple that it seemed to be for kids In any case even if you didn't like this flick&nbsp;your kid would sure do. I notice that until now, I haven't reviewed any James Bond films. So today I decided to review one of the best Bond films I've seen during my teen Years in High School. So today I decided to review one of the best Bond films I've seen during my teen Years in High School. This James Bond film is one of my favorites, GoldenEye. Its 1986 and 007 James Bond and his friend and co-agent 006 Alec Trevelyan is on a mission to infiltrate an elite Soviet chemical weapons facility. Their mission is to destroy it by planting explosive mediums and stopping it from executing future chaos. Yet things don't go their way as Alec Trevelyan upon the completion of the mission is caught by the Russian Gen. Arkady Ourumov&nbsp;and killed. Luckily though, in a very captivating fashion, Bond was able to run off with a plane and escape. The story moves forward 9 years after in the year 1995 and Bond is involved in another mission. He is in Monte Carlo and he is after&nbsp; Xenia Onatopp, a suspected member of the Janus crime syndicate who have access to a very destructive satellite weapon called the GoldenEye.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bond fails though to stop her as she escapes in a top of the line helicopter with Gen. Ourumov. This leads Bond to a series of events and investigations that would lead him to&nbsp;an unexpected surprise&nbsp;and with the help of&nbsp;a new ally Natalya Simonova&nbsp;its up to Bond now to save London and the World. The Golden Eye is one of my most loved James Bond flicks. At that time, I was in High school and I haven't seen a James Bond flick since 1989 and that was starred by Timothy Dalton in Liscense to Kill.&nbsp;I also remembered how I enjoyed that James Bond flick even though I was young. So when Pierce Brosnan became Bond after 6 years of non showing of 007&nbsp;flicks, I was relieved and found this new Bond movie worth the wait. Pierce Brosnan was just perfect for the new James Bond role.&nbsp;He was a tall, attractive and well built English guy who became&nbsp;known for a popular detective British series.Remington Steele. It&nbsp;really seemed to be meant for him that time. The supporting cast was great as well. Like the usual James Bond films, GoldenEye had beautiful women in the presence of Famke Jannsen and Izabella Corupco. Both were fair in their respective roles specially for Famke Jannsen who played a very witty and skillful villain in Xenia Onatopp. Sean Bean as well gave Justice in portraying 006. He just caught me by surprise. &nbsp;Though the story was unrelated to the work of Ian Fleming, I say that Director Martin Campbell and writer Michael France did&nbsp;a great job in&nbsp;making this 007 film as they added their new and modern elements into the film.&nbsp;The Visuals, the stunts, the thrills were very outstanding. Every electronic gadget and equipment were top of line and the story was very good too. Even the fasion of the cast members were very trendy.&nbsp;GoldenEye is one James Bond film that pave way for a succesful&nbsp;21st century James Bond genre.&nbsp;&nbsp;I actually think that&nbsp;if Ian Fleming were alive today, he'd be proud that a film&nbsp;he has inspired has already reached this far. Marissa Ventura is a single Mother trying to get by everyday in the busy Big Apple. She has a son named Ty who she takes cares of and provide for as she works as a Hotel Maid for what seems to be the Waldorf Astoria. In the meantime,&nbsp;A handsome, rich&nbsp;and popular Senatorial candidate&nbsp;named&nbsp;Christopher Marshall decides to stay in the hotel for an important function.&nbsp;With a sudden twist of fate, mistaken identity and with Marissa's sons introduction, Christopher&nbsp;Marshall meets Marissa Ventura&nbsp;thinking that she is Caroline Lane, a beautiful distinguish socialite who also stays in the hotel. With this moment, Christopher Marshall&nbsp;and Marissa find a&nbsp;sudden attraction for each other and both have the biggest potential to fall madly In love. Written by John Hughes and put to life on film by Wayne Wang, Maid In Manhattan is the typical used up&nbsp;Holywood Romantic comedy Fairy Tale. The story is just very simple and&nbsp; so predictable. If Jennifer Lopez commented that she should have been nominated for an Oscar this year for the movie El Cantante, in this film Maid In Manhattan,&nbsp;she definitely deserves none. I'm not discrediting Jennifer Lopez though, she actually did some fair acting in the movie and at times a really great actress and performer. Ralph Fiennes was also a perfect choice for playing Senator. Ralph Fiennes just has the knack and the aura for playing Aristocratic gentlemen. He's been great all the time in any role whether the film is a comedy or a drama. I also like Stanley Tucci, he is a great actor and&nbsp; should have been recognized way way back but sadly not on this film. Maybe he could for some other film. There is really nothing new to me in this movie but I'm sure a lot of teeny bopper girls and&nbsp;couples specially the lady in the couple would want her&nbsp;guy to take her to the movies to watch Maid In Manhattan. Though cast with&nbsp; great talent, Maid in Manhattan will forever be categorize as a chick flick. Yup; there are maybe some&nbsp;funny moments in the film but it wouldn't really change anything.&nbsp;If there is any consolation though and if you are a guy, your hunny would be sure to adore you more after bringing her to the movies for this film. In this movie, Tony Manero after 6 years&nbsp;of living in Brooklyn tries to find his direction and &nbsp;moves to Manhattan, New YorGreg Roasa Yes after my review yesterday on the movie Saturday Night Fever, Tony Manero is back&nbsp;in this new dancing adventure. In this movie, Tony Manero after 6 years&nbsp;of living in Brooklyn tries to find his direction and &nbsp;moves to Manhattan, New York to earn a more descent living..&nbsp;Here in Manhattan, he&nbsp;was able to find a job as a dance instructor, a bar waiter&nbsp;as he regularly tries his luck to be cast in a modern dance productions in Broadway.&nbsp;Tony is also&nbsp;in a serious yet complicated relationship with Jackie who is a singer of the bar he works for and a&nbsp;minor cast in those Broadway musicals. Yet things get more complicated&nbsp;in Tony's life&nbsp;as he&nbsp;&nbsp;meets another girl in Laura, an English Dancer in Jackie's same musical.&nbsp;&nbsp;Three of them end up in a&nbsp;a musical together called Satan's Alley&nbsp;. With Tony Manero being the lead male dancer in Satan's Alley&nbsp;, he&nbsp;has to find a way to&nbsp;balance his drive to succeed as a dancer with his conflicting love interests in Laura and Jackie. You'll probably be surprised to know that&nbsp;for a very cheesy dancing movie, Staying Alive was directed by the very Machismo Action Superstar Sylvester Stallone. In all honesty I'm having trouble in how to rate this film. Compared to Saturday Night Fever,&nbsp; some would&nbsp;probably consider&nbsp;Staying Alive as a really bad sequel. Here is Tony Manero having a really complicated love life, swearing and cursing the Brooklyn way once in a while and does some gay-ish dancing in a Broadway show called Satan's Alley which actually looks more of a&nbsp;big Las Vegas Bar show.&nbsp; The worst thing&nbsp;about it, you don't learn as much significant lessons here compared to the first installment Saturday Night Fever.&nbsp;In my case, I don't know if my reason is&nbsp;a good thing but I kinda like Staying Alive because&nbsp;&nbsp;I just found&nbsp;myself&nbsp; hooked with its cheesy&nbsp;story and its funny&nbsp; dance numbers. Well, I guess that is not a good reason then sigh.&nbsp;John Travolta though acted great in this film. Again he showed his diversity as an actor and as a dancer. Cynthia Rhodes also did well, she was actually perfect for the part. She could actually act even if she's more known for her dancing skills. Finola Hughes in the other hand also did great. She was beautiful, acted great and danced well which probably pleased a lot of audiences back in the days. Yet even with this credentials , I still feel that the story wasn't enough to highlight&nbsp;such talents Well if you observed staying Alive, its patterned like&nbsp;Stallone's Rocky movies. Stallone just seemed to make it more like an underdog dancing movie where you'll see Manero failing, then rising up,&nbsp;getting motivated again&nbsp;and&nbsp; beating all the odds in his cheesy dancing career. Added to that is some cheesy song numbers from Stallone's brother Frank Stallone. I actually feel guilty&nbsp;getting semi-entertained with&nbsp;such a film, yet if I rate it in a more critical level, this would really be a bad film. In a nutshell, Staying alive is really not a good film if you were to compare it&nbsp;with&nbsp;Saturday Night Fever yet if you are in the mood to see a movie with light drama, a little bit of awkward dancing, cheap thrills and a touch of competitiveness.&nbsp;I guess you'll kinda like this film sigh.. Yup from the introduction and the movie poster above, you could easily conclude that this is a disco movie. And yes, that is John Travolta in his biggest break to stardom. This movie is called Saturday Night Fever. A Landmark and very timely film of the 70's. Saturday Night Fever is the story of&nbsp; Tony Manero,&nbsp;a&nbsp;Brookly youngster&nbsp;in his early&nbsp;20's or teens. He was not educated and&nbsp;lives a dead end day job that could also basically lead to a dead end life. His only&nbsp;saving grace is when&nbsp;nightfall arrives.&nbsp;Tony Manero&nbsp;changes into his dancing attire and becomes the star of the local Disco with his&nbsp;dancing prowess.&nbsp;Tony also meets&nbsp;a&nbsp;great dancer&nbsp;named Stephanie in the disco and falls instantly attracted to her. Yet.on the other&nbsp;hand, Stephanie never feels the same for Tony because unlike Tony, Stephanie has goals. She&nbsp;wants to achieve more&nbsp;greater things&nbsp;which gives her the assumption that Tony&nbsp;wouldn't be the right guy for her.&nbsp;In any case both agree to become dance partners&nbsp;on&nbsp;a coming Disco competition. And fron their trainings and their bondings, Tony learns from Stephanie that there are things in life you must know to get somewhere and their is really no limit in what you can achieve if you go for it. Though&nbsp;this movie&nbsp;had a lot of cheesy dancing numbers by John Travolta,&nbsp;Saturday Night Fever is not your typical dancing flick. Directed by John Badham, Saturday Night&nbsp;Fever deals more about teenage life or about the days when you were young when you'd rather be outside partying than getting you're life back on track. It is a movie about&nbsp;getting out of your comfort zone, getting pass obstacles&nbsp;and achieving better things.&nbsp;This&nbsp;movie probably &nbsp;reminded a lot of young people about the pressures of just growing up and trying to fit in a ever evolving society. Saturday night fever would definitely teach you a lot. John Travolta was at his best,&nbsp;even&nbsp;though it was quite strange for me to see him in his Flashy 70's outfit and his one of a kind Disco moves. He&nbsp;was not only a great actor in the film but also a great perforner overall.&nbsp;It was acting and dancing combined at its highest level. No wonder he got an Academy nomination for best actor in&nbsp;this film during the 1978 Academy awards. Karen Lynn&nbsp;Gorney on the other hand was a talented dancer as well yet a bit raw on her acting side. In any case both still end up with great chemistry as the movie progressed. Saturday Night Fever is probably one of the best and most memorable films that came out of the 70's and it shows from the clothes, the dance movements, the ambiance etc. It is just typical&nbsp;70's Nostalgia&nbsp;in the film.&nbsp;It is the last&nbsp;years of Disco coming out with a bang as it enters the early 80's. I just got this review out of the bag just to come up with something. There was actually an Indiana Jones Marathon during New Year's eve that is why I suddenly was able to come up with this review. A couple of months ago you've probably remembered me reviewing Raiders of The Lost Ark, so here I am now coming out with a review for another great movie sequel, Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. &nbsp;The year is 1935 and Indiana Jones with the help and support of his new friends, Local performer Willie Scott and the witty Chinese kid Short Round were barely able to escape from the clutches of Mafia Crime Boss Lao Che in Shanghai. Yet, little did they know that Lao Che already had everything planned as&nbsp; Indiana, Willie, and Shorty upon arriving inside their escape plane will be sent to Himalayas and be left with the plane to crash.&nbsp; Luckily though and not new to escaping danger, Indiana Jones and his friends survive as they end up in the outskirt of a poor Indian village called Mayapore. Upon arriving, Indiana learns from the villagers that havoc just passed them as the village's three sacred Sivalinga&nbsp;stones were stolen from them by evil forces in the nearby Pankot Palace. Added to the insult is the disappearance of the villager's children. The villagers feel that Indiana Jones and his friends were sent to them by Shiva to help them retrieve the stones.&nbsp; One of the stones is believe to be a legendary Sankara stone which promises fortune and glory . Having sympathy to help the villagers and a strong curiosity to see the legendary stones,&nbsp; Indiana Jones with the help of&nbsp; the cunning little Shorty and his new love Interest Willie is on their way for another great adventure. I love all Indiana Jones films. The Temple of Doom is not better than the Raiders of the Lost Ark. It probably lacks some elements and detail compared to the first film but for me I still consider it a very good second installment. George Lucas with the help of Steven Spielberg just takes you to unimaginable and magnificent places. The Indian setting was just so exotic and very magical. I was like in a colorful David Lean film. The only difference, the setting is filled with a lot of thrills and excitement. Harrison Ford as always still played and forever will be Indiana Jones. Until now, I don't see anyone who deserves to play the part in the future. His little sidekick Shorty who was played by Ke Huy Quan was so charming as well,&nbsp; I actually envy him when I was a kid since he was able to be in such an adventure doing all those crazy moves and stunts. And Kate Capshaw, who is now married to the great Steven Spielberg was a good addition to the film as well. She combined beauty and humor as she played the part of Willie Scott. She was the typical Lady in distress and the role was just perfect for her. I've&nbsp; actually seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for the fifth or sixth time now. Yet until now, every time I see it playing on HBO, fore some reason I still end up catching a glimpse of it. I guess Its just the mystic and Magic of all Indiana Jone's films. Added to that is the great visuals of such legends in Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. I just really&nbsp; like the Indiana Jones series&nbsp; that much. Emil Foley on his nose. Zack will be face with different odds as his life as a Navy man will not only concern camaraderie, determination, courage, honor&nbsp;and&nbsp;leadership, It will also concern one of&nbsp;his strongest traits of all, His willingness to love and risk all. An Officer and a Gentleman was directed by Taylor Hackford and written by Douglas Day Stewart&nbsp;who I should give a lot of props to for writing such a story.&nbsp;The story is rather simple yet&nbsp;I still&nbsp;find this to be a very nice inspiring story not only about determination but most importantly about love. Richard Gere and Debra Winger had great chemistry in this film. They just have this certain "It" when they're together. I wonder though&nbsp;&nbsp;what happened to Debra Winger. She is so talented as an actress even back in the days and&nbsp;It is quite strange not to see her with any projects as of the present. Richard Gere was the main character of the story and from what I've seen here, he is not yet the actor that he is now yet back then he is able to get away with it because of his charm and baby face image. Louis Gosett Jr. though was the real deal in this movie as he gave a very startling performance as Sgt.Emil Foley. His performance was just very detailed and well executed.&nbsp;Louis Gosset Jr.&nbsp;for his role, won&nbsp;the 1983 Oscars for best supporting actor.&nbsp;&nbsp;I also like David Keith's performance as an actor, he also did a very good job with the role of Sid. The only problem though, he was never notice for his part. An officer and a Gentleman is a great movie. What's missing though, is that I felt there were certain elements that would have made the story better (ex.&nbsp; Zack and Father reunited scene). Meaning more appearances from&nbsp;Robert Loggia who played&nbsp;Zack's father.&nbsp;Yet, overall An Officer and a Gentleman is a feel good movie that would make you feel heavenly high after watching it. In the France countryside Shossana Dreyfus witnesses the murder of his family by the infamous Jew hunter Col.Hans Landa. She escapes Paris and plots her revenge while she's there. The perfect situation came when after several years and after accumulating a movie Theater, Shossana meets the Nazi War hero/ Actor Frederick Zoller who at the same time finds interest in her. Due to this Frederick was able to convince important Nazi officials to show his movie premier in Shossana's theater. In this premier, the most elite Nazi officials will be attending including the Fuhrer Adolf Hitler. In the meantime, a group of Jewish-American guerrilla soldiers called the "Basterds" are also on rally to defeat the Nazi's. They are led by a violent and ruthless Lt.Aldo Rain. And after learning about the movie premier, the Basterds plan to end the war with a very lethal&nbsp; against the&nbsp; group of Nazi's. I should praise Quentin Tarantino again for another career upgrading film. Inspired by the original Enzo Castillari's&nbsp;Inglorious Bastard movie from the 70's, Quentin Tarantino's version is a rare remake that is better than the original one. Unlike the usual World War II stories which is based on true events, Inglorious Basterds is a fiction base on History. It actually gives me a glimpse of how Quentin Tarantino's mind works. He just puts you in some kind of a Magical time warp. The movie's story was very compelling ala Tarantino style. It has the most unique lines, unique climax, settings and very fascinating characters. Except for Brad Pitt most of the characters were mostly European or overseas&nbsp;actors which consist of Cristoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Bruhl, Til Schweiger and Melanie Laurent. All had their share of limelight in the movie and&nbsp;everyone from what I've observed,&nbsp;did a good job in every scene they were given..Brad Pitt gave another great performance with his character Lt.Aldo Raine. His character projects a lot of meanness and fun and its just so impressive how Pitt can combine this elements at the same time. Yet, the real actor who carried this film was Christoph Waltz. He was great playing the cruel Nazi Col. Hans Landa. He was so&nbsp;great&nbsp;&nbsp;in this part that you will really hate to love &nbsp;his character. Cristoph Waltz with his performance could be a potential nominee for an Academy Award this year 2010. Inglorious Basterds aside from Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill is another Quentin Taranino masterpiece. It is a&nbsp; film beyond unimaginable circumstances that only a Director like Quentin Tarantino can conceive. This is probably one of the best films to come out of 2009.
