OPA Europe members in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Poland and Turkey, representing hundreds of the top news and information websites across Europe, can now share best practices with their colleagues from&amp;nbsp;Le Figaro.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Le Figaro, the oldest news group in France, is one of France’s leading media brands. As well as the daily newspaper, the group is active in other areas of the digital domain, notably in e-commerce.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Bertrand Gié, New Media Director with Le Figaro announced that “We are very pleased to have joined OPA Europe. Through our participation in this unique association, which brings together the leading online publishers from across the region, and through ties to the OPA in the U.S., we now have access to the worldwide online publishing community. OPA Europe membership is important for our business strategy and we look forward to participating actively in the group.”&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;On the departure of Tomasz Jozéfacki of Agora, Nikos Gouraros, Director of Business Development, Digital Media Business Unit, at Lambrakis Press, will assume the role of President of the association. Tomasz has served as President of OPA Europe since September, 2008, and Nikos Gouraros has been Vice President for the same amount of time.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nikos Gouraros said of his appointment ‘I am very pleased to take over the role so well assumed by Tomasz Jozéfacki. I look forward very much to leading OPA Europe into the future and to developing the association to the next level.’&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;OPA Europe also announces a change of Treasurer. Dominique Piteux, from The New York Times Global who has served as Treasurer since 2008, will be replaced by Jean-Christophe Potocki, Deputy CEO at Le Monde Interactif.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;OPA Europe greatly benefited from the excellent leadership of Tomasz and Dominique, and welcomes Nikos and Jean-Christophe to continue advancing the association objectives of sharing best practices and representing the interests of its members in front of the European institutions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;Online Publishers Association Europe appoints new Executive Director and takes a step forward in growing the association, promoting its interests and enhancing its presence in front of the European Institutions&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Founded in 2003, OPA Europe is an alliance of high-level executives from online publishing companies of quality content whose aim is to share best-practice and expertise in digital publishing, at the same time promoting and protecting their interests in the face of an ever-changing legislative environment.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Effective from 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; October, 2011, OPA Europe is pleased to announce that David Mahon will take over the new role of Executive Director.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;David Mahon was previously the Executive Director of the European Federation of Magazine Publishers (FAEP, now renamed EMMA) and was a Board member, Executive Committee member and Treasurer of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), the voice of advertising self-regulation in Europe.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Prior to FAEP, David spent five years as a consultant in media policy at the European Commission, mainly working in the central and eastern European countries that are now the most recent EU Member States.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Tomasz Jozefacki, OPA Europe President, said of the appointment, “We are very pleased to welcome David on board the OPA Europe team. David’s experience of both the publishing world and the workings of the EU will add to the capabilities and effectiveness of OPA Europe in promoting and protecting digital publishers’ interests, especially as regards potential legislation and other business issues that will affect our businesses coming from the EU institutions.”&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;David Mahon said, “I’m delighted to join OPA Europe at this important stage in the development of digital content creation and dissemination. I look forward to working closely with OPA Europe members in ensuring that the association grows and that its concerns are addressed to its advantage”.&lt;/p&gt;
