Upgrading to Content Server 2010?

If you are considering upgrading to Content Server 2010, you may want to visit our recently launched community on the Knowledge Center - Upgrade Central. We have created this site as a central upgrade resource so that you can find the information you need to successfully upgrade to Content Server 2010 easily.

Upgrade Central has been populated with things you are familiar with, like Champion Toolkit documents, documentation, webinars, and Knowledge Base articles, plus new types of content such as videos, checklists, links to downloads, best practices and an upgrade forum. We have also enabled Open Text Pulse to enhance information sharing.

You will find five different sections in Upgrade Central to help you easily move through each stage of the upgrade process: Discover, Evaluate, Plan, Implement, and Train.

Discover

The Discover section features a series of videos to help you better understand what’s new in Content Server 2010. The videos provide an introduction to some of the new features of Content Server 2010 as well as some changes and improvements that have been made, and that will make your life as an administrator easier. In this section you can begin to explore how Content Server 2010 will help your business and your end users.

Evaluate

In the Evaluate section, you can find information that will help you identify the right time for you to upgrade and the business and technical advantages of upgrading. We will directly address commonly asked questions about how the new version will fit in with your existing environments, providing you with information such as compatibility charts and supported environments to help you make an informed decision about when to upgrade.

Plan

After you have evaluated the situation and your company has decided that an upgrade should happen, it’s time to start planning. You arm yourself with all of the information needed to take the systems down, execute a flawless plan, and have things up and running without a glitch when the users return to work on Monday. To help with the process, we have provided you with checklists, case studies, quick reference guides, and best practices to help you ensure that you’ve covered off all the bases.

Implement

Now it’s time to put the plan in action. You have seen case studies in the past for deploying modules and comparison documents for deciding on what type of upgrade to do. We will to continue to provide you with this same great information, but with more scenarios. In the Implement section, you can find outlines and timelines, a Content Server 2010 Admin Video Series, reference documentation and overview diagrams to help you visualize the steps and processes.

Train

Once you have deployed Content Server 2010, we want to help you and your internal trainers to support your users and help them navigate the new version.
