I seem to be experiencing and issue with my OpenX Market Advertiser not updating. I'm showing open x ads in zones, but for two days now have had no updates for impressions or revenue.

Does anyone know if there is a known issue? or what might be the problem?

Problem With Plugin Openxbannertype

Hi

I have just installed OpenX 2.8.8 on my Windows server 2008 R2 machine with Microsoft-IIS 7.5, PHP 5.3.9 og MySQL 5.5.10.

All the areas I have tested is working fine, but when I tried to add a new Banner I got the following error:

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

The error is related to the openXBannerType plugin, so I uninstalled this plugin, and then I couls succesfull add a new banner, with no errors.

When I tri to install the openXBannerType plugin again I get the following error:

500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

And when I look in the debug.log file I found the following infomation regarding the error.

I have tried to trace the Task failed _registerPluginVersion but I cannot figure what's going on during this process. Does anyone has similar experience?

How To Disable/hide A Zone?

I was wondering - how do you disable or hide a placed zone?
Of course I know that I can just delete the code in site's HTML - but can you do this in openX admin?

Simply disabling or just hiding all ads on a certain website would work as well.

Banner Not Appearing (error In Ajs.php)

After install and setting OpenX 2.8.8 banner not appering on site.
Loading ajs.php performed with 500 error. Apache error log:

I realized that problem in MAX_cacheGetZoneLinkedAdInfos function that returns "Function call returned an error". In debug.log nothing about this error.

I am using Adserver 2.8. when i try to install an error is showing as
Detected problem:
The PHP "memory_limit" value is set to less than the required minimum of 128MB, but because the built in PHP function "ini_set" has been disabled, the memory limit cannot be automatically increased.

When i checked in net the system requirement for the memory is only 32M which is already there for my site.
Then i checked in the error log and found an error capurted in the file

Sure would like to signon OpenX Market, but when you have to wait for over 24 hours plus, you have to wonder. Email was sent to publisher support but no response.

What is the normal flow time to address an email response from publisher support?

A new user who has an OpenX account is unable to open a new account with OpenX Market. The results provided is (code 702).

Apparently there is a new video ad format called HTML 5 which is supported by Google. Apple and Microsoft. I don't know too much about it but it apprarently work well with the iPad.

How To Only Allow Ads Of A Certain Language?

Hi,

We are running webpages which are targeted to people of certain languages, and we want to show only ads of those languages, too.

So, I've found the ads filter in the website section but there you only have the options:
- Block English ads
- Block French ads
- Block Japanese ads
- Block ads in all other languages

Now we have two problems:

a) How can I only allow German ads, or only French ads?

b ) When I blocked English and French and Japanese, I didn't got any ads at all... How many ads are in the market in other languages, for example German? Is there an active German ads market share at all?

Having alittle trouble figuring out how to setup zones properly I can get them to display on my website , but I get like 5 of the same ad at once.....

I have 6 125x125 ads on the same page... I am only using openx market, can anyone tell me step by step how to setup my campaign. ect I get cofused do I just make the advertiser, campaing only openx market since I will not be using any other ads right now? then do I create 6 zones with 125x125? how do i keep from getting 3-4 of the same ad on the page at a time... thanks

I installed the Wordpress plugin for OpenX Market, I enabled OpenX Market and created a campaign and linked the zones, etc.

I test the plugin and input the right zones and nothing shows.

I even set my CPM to 0.01

Can I test OpenX Market while logged into OpenX? Is there a way to do a test and display a banner?

I'm having trouble with connecting to OpenX Market place. I have signed up and managed to get ads working using OpenX-OnRamp but everytime I try to enable the market place to serve ads I get this error message - An error occured while associating your OpenX.org account (Code 720).

I can see that there is no way to fix an ad to be shown as % from total impressions! I want to ask if this is possible in OpenX. This is available in DFP and more and more customers are looking in that type of ad delivery and I want to give them that option too. I do not want to go with DFP just because of that.

Url Incorrect On Click Through

Hi,
we have added the image invocation (not Javascript) code to our email newsletter templates but the URL when clicked is showing as http://d1.openx.org/ck.php?ct=1&n=aa268ee8 rather than the URL we have entered.

We have done the following;

• We've got the correct invocation code, and copied/pasted again to make sures it's correct
• We're using the image tag invocation code settings:
o Target left empty (as we're adding a target="_blank" in the email)
o We're stripping out the comments (wouldn't cause any problems)
o We're adding a few style changes to the ad block (wouldn't cause any problems)
• When you click the ad (which displays correctly) from the email client, it opens a browser window with the correct url (as per invocation code)
• The page redirects (after hitting http://d1.openx.org/ck.php?n=aa268ee8 ) to http://d1.openx.org/ck.php?ct=1&n=aa268ee8, where there's a blank page.

Hello,

I was using openx 2.3 something and my server admin upgraded php and for some reason all I got was a white page when trying to access openx. I had previously installed the latest openx in another directory and this still worked. I figured maybe the php wasn't compatible with my old openx and an upgrade might fix the problem.

The problem is that I cannot access the upgrade script or the admin area after replacing all my files with the new ones (I didn't reaplce them I just renamed my old directory and renamed the new directory while keeping my old config file). The error I get is:

The admin screen has been turned off for maintenance. This does not affect the delivery of your campaigns.

This is very urgent. If someone can tell me how to get around this error I'd be really grateful.

Url Targeting With Video Ads

Using OpenX 2.8.7 (self install) with FlowPlayer.

I'm trying to target pre-roll video ads to specific URL's on my site. When I enter the page url in delivery options, the ad does not play on any URL including the one I specified. If I remove the limitation, the ad of course plays but on all URLs. I've tried using Targeting Channels with the same results.

The problem also occurs with overlay ads.

No Cookie Image Tag In Direct Selection Not Tracking Clicks

I just installed OpenX on one of my Linux boxes, and everything seemed to install fine.

I created an advertiser, campaign, and a single banner. As well as a website.

I've generated an ad tag, and tested it. It worked fine, and I saw stats in the system for the tests.

But ultimately, I just want to use this system to track redirects from traffic I'm buying from a third-party source to ensure that I'm getting what I'm paying for.

So I grabbed a No Cookie Image Tag in the Direct Selection, and put in the banner ID, target frame, etc etc...

The URL works perfectly, and redirects to the site flawlessly. BUT its not tracking any clicks to that link!! I have the maintenance running via a CRON job, and it states its running fine. The Debug.log looks fine too, just full of INFO's, no Errors.

The web log files are fine..

113.180.75.164 - - [25/Jan/2012:21:20:46 -0500] "GET /openx/www/delivery/ck.php?bannerid=4 HTTP/1.1" 302 - "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0)"

and I'm seeing over 2,000 unique hits coming from my traffic buy; but Open X shows NO clicks at all going to the URL.

Facebook Blocking Posts Because Of Ad Server

I run a news Web site. Last week, after 2+ years on Facebook and 18 months of using OpenX to serve our ads, Facebook started blocking posts from our news site to our FB page as being "spammy or unsafe". I got through to a human at FB and he says it is because of a problem with our ad server.

I don't buy it because this is exactly the problem that Snopes.com had in December (http://www.zdnet.com/blog/facebook/facebook-blocks-snopes-for-being-spammy-unsafe/6066), but on the off chance that this is an OpenX bug, can somebody tell me what the fix is?

Paragraph Break Being Inserted Before "after" Html In Text A

I have a text ad which I am inserting at the end of a paragraph with:

However what I get (as shown via FireBug inspecting the page in Firefox):

So the close paragraph tag is inserted between the anchor and the beacon "div" pushing the "after" HTML into a new paragraph.

If I wrap the script in its own "div", then I get the inline sentence as expected without the paragraph break after the link:

it seems that openx strips it out.

I need to put it in together with the banner code, in the same window, since this is banner i'm showing on 40 sites, and can't edit each of them every time i change the ads.

For zone type i use " Banner, Button or Rectangle " and the banners i set to "openx generic html banner".

So is there a way to show banners using JS dhtml and so on, in the same zone i use to show graphic and text banners as well?

Eyeblaster Banner Not Showing Up

Hi guys,

I am having some trouble with a few banners I am trying to display on one of our sites, they are rich media banners served by eyeblaster, when I add the banners into the system, they show correctly in the backend of openx when editing the banner, when I go check on the site, they do not load up at all, when I use my Chrome developers tools to check wether or not the tags are present, i am unable to find them.

The banners are linked to the correct zones, are active, and I have used the correct method for adding them into the system, as specified by eyeblaster, yet when I load a local flash banner to the webserver, it shows up correctly, it only seems to break when I set the banner type to html.

My method for uploading the banner is as follows,

1. Once I have chosen to add a banner, I set the banner type to "html".
2. I enter the name of the banner.
3. I paste in the tags I get from eyeblaster.
4. I set the banners height and width.
5. I set the weight to 15.
6. I then click save.
7. After the banner has been added, I check that it has been linked to the correct zones.

After following those exact steps, as specified by eyeblaster, I can see the banner preview in the back end, but when I check to see if the banner has loaded into the site, it does not display at all, I have removed all other banners, leaving only the one banner linked to the specific zone, and still it never displays the banner in the zone.

Any ideas on what could be causing that?

Click Tracking For Multiple Target Urls In Html Banner?

Hi There,

i wondered, is it somehow possible to click tracks on more than one target url per banner? I recently had to create an html banner in which there were several links to several urls. So i had to choose, which one of those urls i wanted to track clicks for. That sucks. Isn't there some workaround to track more than one url within one banner without using a flash ad? It doesn't matter to me if those different links could not be distinguished in statistics, as long as all clicks on all attached links are tracked.

Any Ideas?

Oh, and by the way, I am using OpenX Source 2.8.8.

How Can I Use The Ecpm Prioritization To Improve The Basket Value

i am using openx to create conversions which are measured on the basket value. Now i am wondering if i can use the eCPM prioritization somehow...

As far as I understand it the eCPM prioritization only works if your campaign is NOT Remnant. So if I choose "Contract" I have to choose a price model. As the price model i would choose "CPA" and now i have to enter a rate/price. And that is the problem the price depends on the basket value and this is not an option.

Does anybody maybe has an idea how i can use the eCPM prioritization together with the basket value?

Some Pages Return Empty Response

For instance I can go to just about every page on Inventory...but as soon as I click on "Banners" I get (in Chrome):

Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

I get similar results on IE and FF. I checked and the call isn't even making it to Apache. I do have iptables installed and I am wondering if there is something specific to that page that is somehow being blocked?

Problem Getting New Banner To Display

Need some help please...

I'm hoping I'm just doing something really simple wrong here. We just moved to OpenX OnRamp to try it out. In short, we have an ad provider, but we wanted to do some of our own direct sales. So we started simple by just putting that provider's code within a Banner and Campaign and run that as Remnant. When we put up the invocation code on our site, no problem! Happy Day. But then...

I've added another Advertiser, with a Campaign and Banner. Real simple flat .gif file with a link. No crazy code at all. The single Campaign is set to Contract (Exclusive) with CPM and 200K impressions. I set the campaign weight to 7, (higher than the Remnant campaign.) And put a couple of limits on views and session views. Then I linked the single zone we have on our site for 300x250 banners.

And... nothing. I've waited 20 min for cache to update. I've used multiple PCs / Browsers with cleared Cookies.

It's more likely than not I'm missing some dumbass newbie thing. But I'm a bit at a loss here.

Any suggestions?

Setting Zone Once At 40 Sites So That You Can Show Any Kind Of Adverti

I need to set a zone on 40 sites in a way that i can feed any kind of banners later. Some of them will be jpgs, flash, floating, scrollers, html banners and so on.
What would be the best way to do this? And more specificly what banner and zone type to choose so that it can show all of that later without problems?

On the sites end (they are all Wordpress) i plan to just put the code in a text widget in the sidebar.

Delivery Limitation Question

So we're trying to work through the targeting channels and are a bit confused by some of the documentation. In the user guide (http://www.openx.com/docs/2.8/userguide/channels), it states one of the delivery limitation options for a global channel is site-channel. However, the only location we are finding this option would be for banners. Are we missing something?

Is there something that should be set to tell maintenance to use the timezone setting in php.ini for calculating priorities? It seems to be using GMT because at our 4PM hour (Los Angeles) impressions spike, but may be nonexistent the previous hour. I suspect this is due to GMT because looking at the dates in the db that is when the date changes between days.

Exclusive Campaigns Not Functioning

I currently have an exclusive campaign dayparted to run over the noon hour consisting of 3 banners (a leaderboard, medium rectangle and a skyscraper) running in the same configuration on two sites. I've run this configuration previously on other sites with minimal issues but this one running on two websites concurrently is only pulling in the leaderboard which is the top-most zone on the sites. I originally tried having the three banners together in one campaign but that wasn't working so I broke them out so each banner was alone in its own campaign which worked previously. I'm half-way through the length of this contract and running out of ideas. The campaigns are all set to exclusive with stop and start dates. I've set the priority to 10, tried using the companion checkbox, nothing seems to work this time. We are using OpenX 2.8 hosted on our own server. There are multiple other ads running in each zone which should be essentially overruled by the exclusive campaign.

What am I missing on this one?

I have set up an OpenX Open Source server for a client of mine, administered it for one year maintainig it up and running (100% uptime). I also wrote several php code to integrate OpenX with my client legacy software, using OpenX APIs. So I could say I have one year, rather solid experience on OpenX platform.

I'd like to know from you how much you'd charge for administering the OpenX server: os admnistration + OpenX technical support (monthly fee). I'd also like to know your charging model, fixed monthly fee vs impression-based fee vs... ?

The platform is a single virtual server hosted on a cloud infrastructure. At the moment it serves about 5 million impressions/months.

I am planning an OpenX upgrade from 2.4.6 --> 2.8.8. We are currently using OpenX v2.4.6 running on Apache 2.2.21, PHP 5.3.8 and MySQL 5.0.92-community.

The largest tables are:

-- phpads_data_intermediate_ad @ 2.4 GB
-- phpads_data_summary_ad_hourly @ 2.2 GB
-- phpads_data_raw_ad_impression @ 439 MB

Has anyone been through this upgrade path before, and/or do you foresee any specific issues I should address to ensure success? I assume I can make a straight shot from 2.4.6 --> 2.8.8, or do I need to do incremental upgrades?

I would like to use openx to track my text ads and banner ads. For example: I will purchase ad space on 3 websites. I want to be able to tell which of these sites are giving me the best ROI. Also how would i track each ad to see which of them are getting the highest conversion?

I am not selling inventory at this time. I only want to make sure i'm tracking my own ads to see which ads are performing the best. I would really be grateful for any help you may give. If there are videos on this, that would be Incredible!

The passback: basically allows users to profile and identify clusters of profiles (cookies, essentially), so you can deliver campaigns only on selected targets. To do this we must of course be able to "reject" the call when a cookie is to target, leaving them behind. Generally this is our turn richiamandoa tag redirects the publisher from which we received the original call. NB tag redirects us that we receive must be different from the original (basically positioned on the page) in order to avoid infinite loops

I've start using openx 2 years ago and till now everything was working fine.
But suddenly openx stop tracking clicks, without changing anything on the server.
I've tried with simple swf banner and javascript code.
Specific for javascript, I can see that openx adds the {clickurl} tag but no clicks counted.
The version is 2.8 .

Any help would be really appreciated.

I installed openx on cpanel 11. Correction!! I tried to install openx on cpanel 11. That was 48 hours ago.

I cleared nearly all of these errors to be not able to login to anywhere or installation not reading DB.

Rogue Banners

Yesterday for over an hour, I saw around 12 banners appear in our leaderboard banner space that we had not booked. They had never been clients of ours and so weren't old ones that were in our OpenX archive.

They have since all disappeared.

Please can you explain how this has happened and how it can be prevented from happening again? Two of the banners were for competitive businesses.

Stopping Emailing Of Banner Statistics Report

Openx Upload Corrupts Swf

I am having a problem with one of the Flash ads my client is trying to use on their website. First, please note that I have other Flash ads on the page that are working perfectly. The ad I am trying to use is a 160x600 (IAB Wide Skyscraper) SWF that I am uploading as a local banner. The upload appears to work just fine and without any errors, and a new SWF file shows up on the server. However, when the ad tries to load on the page, the debug version of Flash Player spits out errors.

How the Site Works

The way my server is set up is probably out of the norm. The site is a Ruby on Rails website, and so we did this in a sort of roundabout way. I am using an unmodified version of OpenX v2.8.7, if it makes a difference.

First, We have a domain set up called adspots.example.com. This has a bunch of PHP files that correspond to ad zones, and each of these contains their respective invocation code. So, going to adspots.example.com/top_banner.php will show the top_banner zone's ads. This part is fairly straightforward.

Next, we use Rails partials (.erb files) to display the output of these PHP files. This is where it gets a little hairy. The .erb files are generated using a cron job bash script that gets run every 30 minutes and that essentially wget's the adspots URLs (see above) and sends the output to _top_banner.html.erb. The partial is then rendered on the page.

To be honest, most of how the page gets served is not important. The resulting code on the page is the usual stuff with ox_swf.addVariable, addParam, and write calls in between. Suffice to say that all of the zones usually work, and in fact every zone but one are currently working correctly.

Problem Details

I mentioned above that every zone but one are currently working. I have an active campaign for the zone that is not working. The embed code is in fact loading, but the ad just says "Movie not loaded..." when I right click it. What happens is I have a working SWF file (see here or direct link ). After uploading the SWF to OpenX, it no longer loads (see here or direct link).

My attempt at troubleshooting lead to me installing the debug version of the latest Flash Player on my workstation. That produced "VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds." followed by several "ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable is not defined." errors.

To summarize, I start with a working SWF and, after uploading it to OpenX, I end up with a corrupted, non-working SWF.

Has anyone ever encountered this before? If not, does anyone have any suggestions? According to my client, the SWF files were compiled to be compatible with Flash Player 9. I don't really have much experience with Flash, and so I'm a bit stumped on the matter.

Problems With The Open X Site And Support

Hi. I'm a developer reviewing this product for a client.

I have found problems with the Open X site:

The link to the Wordpress plugin FAQ is broken.
There is no way appropriate channel to report issues with the website.
The Contact Sales form Submit button doesn't work.

So far I cannot recommend this product because if I cannot get the info and support I need, I expect my clients will have similar experiences and that a recommendation would reflect negatively on my business. (Note: I'm not actually billing to look into this if that causes anyone discomfort, but I still feel clients need to be able to trust my recommendations or it has negative implications for me.)

I tried IRC but got no response to my messages. I am supposing, though, that it's strictly a community chat and not an official support channel, so that's fine. People were away, busy, or just not interested.

I'd like to see some changes so that the site is easier for my clients to interact with. Do you have any suggestions how I can communicate better with Open X about these issues?

No Old Statistics Since Eliminating Old Zones

We transitioned ads into new zones, eliminated old zones, and the statistics from ads in those zones seem to have been deleted with the zones. We kept the existing ads and campaigns.

Notes:
- Using the online ( adserver.openx.org ) version of OpenX.
- We're logged in as the manager of a site and working with that site

However, installer enables me to finish process, in dashboard I was able to see, that both application and DB has been upgraded. During my post-install verification I noticed, that statistics are not upgrading and maintenance task is not performed (no errors in debug.log). I am not sure, if those issues are related.
But in overall OpenX was not working as it should, so I had to perform roll-back of application and DB.

Invocation Code Generation Page Comes Up Blank?

Just had a new installation of this via dreamhost for me site. I was previously hosted on fastdomain and manually installed openx there and ran it for a year. ran phpadsnew for years as well prior to this.

In the new setup, when I go to the invocation code page, I get:

Please choose the type of banner invocation

And the dropdown is blank/inaccessible. I can't create and invocation codes. I haven't a clue where to even start to figure out how to debug this. Suggestions?

Banner Delivery Limitation

Hi all,

I'm trying to use banner delivery limitation function but the picklist under banner option is empty.

I tried to disable and re-enable the plugin with non success.

Any ideas?

I'm running OpenX v2.8.8 on Apache 1.3.42, PHP 5.2.17 and MySQL 5.0.91mm-log.

I'm looking for the following functionality to add to an openx hosted installation:

> people with websites can signup, fill up their profiles and automatically be given unique code they can cut and paste onto their sites for differenct ad formats (120x600, 300x250 and so on). They can then be tracked via this code. Pretty much like adsense.

1. Is there already a plugin or 'how-to' that allows this? I have some experience with openx on ramp and hosted.
2. If I have to hire someone to do this I am also interested, pls. PM me rates.

"firstquartile" Event Instructs Clients (ova) To Delete Cook

Here is the set up, OpenX, JW player, OVA plugin, video pre-roll ad/campaign using delivery capping.

Some laymen's proof:
Scenario 1 - Hit play, enjoy as normal (watch ad +/ video), note on refresh delivery capping is not set (you see ad again)
Scenario 2 - Hit play, after a second/two of the ad playing hit refresh on your browser, note that delivery capping worked (no ad this time)

Findings:
some fantastic help came from Paul on the longtail forum, he found what appears to be the problem.

"The bottom line is that OpenX seems to be instructing the client (OVA in this case) to delete the cookies when the "firstQuartile" event is fired. That would explain why you seem to see it delete the cookies.."

He continues to explain the cookies are 'deleted' because of a set-expiration date issue.

Setting Up A New Contract Campaign

Ok people, I've just got my first Contract style campaign to setup and I'm a little unsure.

First, what I need:

Zone shows house ads (Adsense) UNLESS user is from the UK, then show the contract campaign.

This used to be done using "Contract Exclusive" - so it was pretty simple.

However, now as I mentioned, it's becoming a contract - and will use on average about 50% of the UK traffic (the other 50% of UK traffic should see the Adsense banners)

I had figured I just needed to put this in the same zone and OX would do the rest, however mentioned on the OpenX FAQ - it says that if you are having a geo targetting, then you should setup a new zone with only the geo targetted campaigns in it, then chain that zone to the other one (which holds all the adsense ones)

Is that right?

Naive Question About Invocation Codes

There are two pieces of invocation code for each web site, in addition to the invication codes for the banners themselves. The help page states:

Header script: this script should be inserted at the top of every page on the desired website. It belongs between the and tags, before any ad scripts on the page.
Ad script: copy and paste this script into the site where you want the ad to display.

I see where the Header Script goes: in the header of each page

I hate to admit that I am unable to figure this out, but where does the Ad Script go?

Cant Disable Openx Market Ads

Wonder if anyone can help, i simply can not disable OpenX serving its Market Ads.

I have unticked all boxes, disabled plugins etc.

But Market Ads are still served mostly instead of my own!

Any ideas?

Every External Plugin Gives Error 500

Hello

My openX (OpenX v2.8.7 running on Apache 1.3.42, PHP 5.2.17 et MySQL 5.5.17 ) categorically refuses to execute any external plugin I have installed. Notice this ad server does not have any cpanel administrative interface that is documented to make similar errors.

Those external plugins are :

ZetaPrintsExtension0.1
apMagicGeo1.0.0
apStatsGraphs1.0.4

They are installed and enabled of course, every time i try to access them by admin interface, this makes an ugly error 500 internal server error.

please also notice this is the only case of error 500 i have on this installation, no 500's on logins and logouts.

I am getting an MDB2 Error: syntax error while setting up an Video Ad in OpenX-2.8.8 .
I am using Linux CentOS , PHP , MySQL with necessary modules installed.
Please help me fix the issue. Following is the error message I am getting.

Missing Fields

Trying to update some campaigns for the new year, but the fields to enter Start and End dates are missing. Also won't save correctly if I try to set it to not expire for now.
