CamDiary 1.1 will be released soon!

Hi! Happy New Year ! (Sorry for the late greeting :) ) All you have good Christmas and New Year holidays?

After coding and testing in the past few days, we have just finished a new version of CamDiary, version 1.1. The app has already been uploaded to Apple App Store and is now waiting for review. Hopefully you can see it couple days later. This will be the first upgrade in the history of CamDiary.

Besides some bug fixes, one major new function is added to CamDiary. The users on iOS 4.0 and above may directly share their diary to Sina Weibo (http://www.weibo.com). Sina Weibo is the most popular twitter-like social network website in China with hundreds of millons of users.

After CamDiary gets approved and lauched in App Store, you can freely upgrade it. Then, you may click the button circle-i at the top-right corner of the homepage of CamDiary to enter the information and setting page (see Figure 1).

Slide the Switch "Weibo Login Switch" from OFF to ON, you will be navigated to the official authorization page of Sina Weibo in Safari, see Figure 2.

This step needs your iOS device to be connected to internet. Input your username and password and log in Sina Weibo, CamDiary is then properly authorized under your Weibo account. Note that CamDiary NEVER records your private information. All authorization procedure is using the official OAUTH of Sina Weibo. After authorization, you will directly come back to CamDiary. The information and setting page will look like Figure 3, where your Weibo account is displayed.

In CamDiary 1.0, users have to save the diary to the Photo Album and share it to Weibo via another Weibo client app. Not convenient. After the previous authorization in CamDiary 1.1, you can make it more easy. In the review page, click the second button from the right on the bottom toolbar, see Figure 4.

You will see under the button Email there is a new button Sina Weibo, see Figure 5.

Yes, just click it! Here you arrive at a new page, see Figure 6. There is a text view. All text in this diary directly goes there. If you just click the button send without any modification, the text and the diary picture fly to your Weibo. Of course, you can rewrite the text you want to send to Weibo. This modification would NOT change the text embedded in your diary. This is important because it will not change your original memory.

Here is one more interesting trick of using CamDiary. When you travel to some places where no internet is available. You just use CamDiary with location service on to record your experiences and feelings. After back to your warm home or hotel with internet, share these wonderful experiences to Weibo. You will find, CamDiary uploads the locations where the photos are taken, NOT the location where you are posting these diaries! Your friends will be happy to know where your stories happened. Useful?

Sorry for the users on iOS 3.2. Currently we could not support the above mentioned features.

Quick Manual of CamDiary

1. Home page

When you run CamDiary, you will first see the home page as follows. Different theme you use will present you a different design. But, the locations of the buttons are all the same in different themes and skins. So, here we just illustrate the basic function of each button using the default theme.

1.1 In the home page, there four buttons you can operate on. In the right-upper corner, you may find a small dark circle with a "i". Click it, you will be navigated to the About information page where you can find the Copyright information, the current version and the support contact.

1.2 Click the button "New", a menu will be popped up from the bottom. You may choose Camera to take a new photo, or choose Photo Album to select a photo already in your device.

1.3 Click the button "Diary", you will be navigated to a list of your old diaries. There, you can review every piece of your memory.

1.4 Click the button "Theme", you may discover all the themes. Currently, there are nine free themes. Select anyone you like.

Design the icon of CamDiary

You may easily understand the meaning of the app's name "CamDiary", Cam + Diary. Taking a photo and adding a short text note, you make a piece of diary. But, you perhaps wonder what inspired our designer to design the icon of our first iOS app CamDiary. Our designer actually plotted several drafts of the icon, finally a idea popped up from the camera button in iOS. The following picture clearly shows how the icon is designed.

Fill colors to the original camera, and choose a part of the whole colorful camera. Then, there is our icon.

Do you know how our designer selected that blue color of the camera body? If you are interested in the latest Tech news, you may find the answer. It comes from the default theme of Windows Phone 7, :).
