Update:

Lawrence Police have arrested two men following Sunday morning's shooting.

Police say that detectives arrested a 20-year-old Topeka man on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and a 29-year-old Topeka man on charges of domestic battery in relation to Sunday morning's shooting. Both men were arrested in Shawnee County and have been transported back to Douglas County.

Our news partners at the Lawrence Journal-World report report the victims to be 33-year-old Tommy D. Andrews, and 27-year-old Michael A. Holford, both of Topeka.

Andrews was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Holford was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A condition report for Andrews was not available, but Holford was reported to be in critical but stable condition on Sunday afternoon.
Operation 100 News report on the Lawrence Journal-World.

Officers were called to Club Magic, located at 804 W. 24th Street, at 3:41 a.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting 10 people fighting inside the business. One of the people involved in the fight was reportedly armed with a gun. Police responded and learned that a security guard had taken the firearm from the man. The man then left the business before police could arrive.

At 3:51 a.m., Lawrence Police were dispatched to the area 22nd and Alabama Streets following several reports of gunshots heard in the area. This intersection is about three blocks north of Club Magic. At least one caller reported hearing four or five gunshots and a female screaming.

As officers responded to check on the reports of gunshots, one officer's patrol vehicle was struck by a vehicle being driven by a shooting victim in the parking lot of the McDonald's, 901 W. 23rd Street, just across the parking lot from Club Magic. The officer requested medics respond and that the driver had been shot multiple times.

Other officers continued their response to the area where gunfire had been reported. A second shooting victim was found in the 800 block of Greever Terrace, which is about four blocks north of Club Magic. Both men were reportedly shot on Greever Terrace. Following the shooting, one of the victims drove a vehicle back towards Club Magic to look for help, his vehicle collided with a Lawrence Police Department patrol vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot.

The Journal-World also reports that both victims are Topeka residents. The condition of the 27-year-old shooting victim was said to be in stable condition and improving as of Sunday afternoon. Club magic has been the scene of at least two other disturbances involving guns just this year, according to the Journal-World.

The club has previously been called Taste Lounge, Bar and Grill. A 30-year-old, Lawrence man who was working as a bouncer at the club was shot in the parking lot in March 2012.
Shawnee Police are investigating another armed robbery this morning.

A statement from Shawnee Police says that an officer patrolling the area around 1:50 Tuesday morning when he noticed that he could not see the clerk of the TempStop convenience store at 13515 W. 63rd Street. As the officer parked his patrol car, he was approached by the clerk who had his arms restrained in zip ties behind his back and reported that the store had been robbed.

This morning's incident is the third robbery since February. The store has only been in business for about six months. The first robbery occurred on February 12, 2013, the second occurred around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9th. Operation 100 News is the only media outlet that has reported all three robberies.

In a statement released around 9 a.m., Police say that the suspect is a black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black gloves, sunglasses, and had a black bandanna covering his face.

Police say the suspect approached the clerk while displaying a silver or dark gray revolver and demanded cash from the register. Before leaving, the suspect told the clerk to lie down and used zip ties to handcuff the clerk's arms behind his back. The suspect left on foot and no vehicles were seen. The clerk was not injured.

A K-9 unit from the Lenexa Police Department conducted a brief track which led behind the business where it ended, indicating the suspect probably got into a vehicle.

Shawnee Police Department Major Bill Hisle tells Operation 100 News that "there are similarities in motive to the May 9th robbery," but it is not believed to be the same man.

A source with knowledge of the investigation tells Operation 100 News that Kansas City, Kansas Police and Shawnee Police are investigating a possible connection between the Shawnee robberies and similar cases in Kansas City, Kansas. The latest Kansas City, Kansas robbery occurred at a convenience store near Interstate 435 and Leavenworth Road. In that robbery the clerk was also handcuffed with zip ties.

Regarding the Shawnee robberies, Major Hisle tells Operation 100 News, "this is the third robbery this particular clerk has been a victim of. We are currently exploring the possibility of these robberies being connected to other robberies in the metro, but nothing definitive has been determined as of right now."

The Kansas Department of Corrections says that all three men are back in custody tonight.

Allen Hurst and Scott Gilbert were arrested in Clinton County, Missouri following a car chase, shootout and standoff with law enforcement. The men made it approximately 25 miles from the prison.

Randy Ridens, Sr, was apprehended just inside of Topeka, Kansas before 10:30 Friday evening. Ridens made it approximately 40 miles from the prison.

Update 1:17pm:

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they have surrounded a home near Trimble, Missouri (Clinton County). Two of the escaped convicts are said to be in the home. The third man is unaccounted for currently. Authorities have not said which men are in the home and which man remains unaccounted for.

An alert Platte City, Missouri officer spotted a vehicle on Interstate 29 around 10 a.m.. That officer believed that the occupants resembled two of the escapees. The officer gave chase and was joined by the Platte County Sheriff's Office. The escapees fired shots at law enforcement while on Interstate 29.

After exiting the Interstate, the chase wound through Edgerton, Missouri and east on State Highway Z. The men ran into a home in the area of Highway Z and U.S. Highway 169. The two men remain holed up in that home as of this update.

Officials say they currently have "no info" on the third man.
Shawnee Police are investigating after a local convenience store was robbed this morning.

Police say they were called to the TempStop convenience store at 13515 W. 63rd Street shortly before 1:30 Thursday morning. The store is located on the northwest corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Pflumm Road.

This same store was also robbed on February 12, 2013, previous report.

Shawnee Police Department Major Bill Hisle tells Operation 100 News that a black male suspect entered the store, approached the clerk from behind and demanded money.

The clerk told police that the man was armed with a handgun, possibly a revolver. The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a dark colored hoodie, sunglasses, and a bandanna covering his face.

Major Hisle says that before leaving, the suspect used zip ties to handcuff the clerk behind his back. A customer entered the store a short time later and cut the zip ties off of the clerk.

The suspect left on foot and no vehicles were seen, according to police.

Officers established a perimeter and searched the area with a K-9 unit from the Overland Park Police Department. Major Hisle says that the K-9 track led officers to the Sheridan's Frozen Custard parking lot where it ended, indicating the suspect probably got into a vehicle.

Police are unsure if this robbery is related to the previous one or not.

Anyone with information on either robbery of the business is asked to call Shawnee Police at 913-631-2155 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
Emergency crews from at least two counties responded on a diesel fuel spill late Friday night. The scene is the BP station, located at 101 E. Lake Street. The station is on the southeast corner of Lake and Union Streets in the heart of McLouth.

Outside of McLouth, Lake Street is known as Kansas Highway 16.

A diesel tanker was reportedly resupplying the gas station's diesel tank when 1,200 to 1,300 gallons of diesel spilled onto the ground. Crews reported that some of the fuel had ran downhill and into storm drains. The spill was also reported to have "covered" at least one neighbor's backyard.

A caller to the Lawrence Journal-World said that "homes all around the area were being evacuated."

Emergency crews on the scene include; McLouth Police & Fire Department, Oskaloosa Fire Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County Fire Districts 8 & 9, and Leavenworth County Emergency Management. An earlier report from the Lawrence Journal-World says that Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical was also involved on the call. The Kansas Division of Emergency Management has also been notified of the spill.

These crews are also being assisted by a private contractor, Haz-Mat Response Inc., of Olathe, Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 435 in Lenexa.

Troopers say the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-435 between Kansas Highway 10 and 95th Street, around 10:15 Monday night.

The Highway Patrol's crash log shows that a 2002 Lexus LS430, driven by a 48-year-old, Kansas City, Missouri man, struck a female pedestrian.

Troopers have identified the injured pedestrian as Jamie Eisenbarger, 28, of Lawrence.

Eisenbarger was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing and Troopers say it is currently unknown why Eisenbarger was walking on the highway or why she stepped into traffic.

The driver of the Lexus was wearing a seat belt and did not report being injured.
Crews from three area fire departments extinguished an apartment fire Tuesday evening in Johnson County.

Firefighters were called shortly after 6:30 p.m. to the Four Winds Apartments, located at 10222 W. 80th Street in Overland Park.

Arriving firefighters reported smoke visible from a first floor of the two story apartment building, which was being evacuated on arrival.

The fire was located in a kitchen and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.

A news release says the resident of the damaged apartment told fire investigators that she was cooking and had a grease fire on the stove. She attempted to put it out with flour and then a fire extinguisher, but the fire was too big. She got out of the apartment and called 911.

No injuries were reported and only one unit was uninhabitable Tuesday night.

Crews from the Lenexa Fire Department and Merriam Fire Department also assisted on the fire.

Overland Park Fire says you should keep a cookie sheet near your stove and in the event of a fire, slide it over the top of the pan that is on fire. This will smother the fire. Do not move the pan or put anything else on the fire. Cover the fire, get out and call 911.

Lenexa Police are investigating after an area computer store was burglarized.

Police say the incident occurred around 3:53 a.m. at the Computer & Laptop Service Center, located at 7791 Quivira Road.

Surveillance video shows three individuals breaking through a front window and then entering the business. The subjects take as many laptops as they can carry and were only inside the store for about 30 seconds. They fled the scene in an unknown type vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lenexa Police at 913-477-7300 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

Overland Park Police investigated a similar computer business burglary early Friday morning. It is unclear if the two crimes are related.

Lenexa Police say at approximately 4:15 a.m., the JB's One Stop Convenience Store, 13094 W. 95th Street was the scene of an attempted robbery. This address is just west of Interstate 35 on 95th Street. A news release says a lone suspect entered the store and eventually approached the clerk. The suspect demanded cigarettes. As the clerk was retrieving the cigarettes, the suspect said that he had a gun, no weapon was displayed. The clerk then told the suspect that he was calling the police. The suspect left the store with no merchandise or cash.

At 4:22 a.m., the same man from the attempted robbery, successfully robbed the Quik Trip at 11070 Pflumm Road in Lenexa. This store is located on the northwest corner of College Boulevard and Pflumm Road.

This time the suspect displayed a yellow box cutting style knife to the clerk and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash and the cigarettes. The suspect walked out of the store towards the west and out of sight of the clerk.

Both incidents in Lenexa involved a black male in his 20's, approximately 5' 10" tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark stocking hat and a dark wool jacket. Police also say that a 1990's model, two door vehicle of an unknown make was seen leaving the JB's One Stop parking lot just after the attempted robbery.
Firefighters from at least three area departments were called to respond on a report of a structure fire in Eudora.

The call was dispatched around 11:40 p.m. at 2218 Quail Court. The address is on the south side of Kansas Highway 10, just east of Eudora High School.

Law Enforcement arrived on the scene to report the east side of the structure was heavily involved in fire. Fire crews arrived to report heavy flames visible from the south and east sides of the two story home.

The residents of the home told emergency crews that everyone was out of the home safely.

As of 12:10 a.m., firefighters report the roof of the home is nearly fully engulfed. Crews remain inside the home battling the flames from the second story.

Just before 1 a.m., a Fire Safety Officer reported a partial roof collapse. Incident command made radio contact with each firefighter team on the inside of the structure. All crews were clear of the collapse area and continue to put water on the fire.

The fire was reported to be "under control" at 1:07 a.m.. Dispatchers report that crews were on scene for one hour 20 minutes before the fire was brought under control.

Neighbors on one side of the home were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries have been reported.
A news release this morning did not specify how many of those violations resulted in citations or what other violations may have been cited during the check lane.

The check lane was open from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. and included officers from Mission, Merriam, Olathe, Prairie Village, Overland Park, Gardner, Spring Hill, and Lenexa. Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol also assisted in the operation.

In a statement, Captain David Moloy of the Mission Police Department says, "the effectiveness of sobriety checkpoints lies not only in the fear of being arrested, but also in the number of people who plan in advance to take cabs home after drinking. This has truly made our streets safer by reducing the number of intoxicated drivers on our roadways."
On Friday, March 29th, members of the Olathe Police Department's School Resource Officer Unit conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout the city of Olathe.

The checks focused on businesses that sell alcohol. The purpose of the operation was to insure that these businesses are checking customer's identification and not selling alcohol to under-aged individuals.

Officers checked 59 businesses, 54 of which complied by asking for identification. The five businesses that did not comply were cited for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor and given municipal court dates.

Olathe Police Chief Steven Menke says "This is just a part of the police department's continuing effort to prevent under-aged drinking and insure that businesses that sell alcohol are doing their part to keep our community safe."

A statement release about the checks says that while the high number of compliant businesses is encouraging, it is the continued goal of the Olathe Police Department to attain 100% compliance throughout the city. Police will continue to routinely conduct compliance checks throughout the upcoming year.

Olathe Police also conducted a DUI check lane March 29th. Results of that check lane can be found here.

The check lane was made possible by grant funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation. Olathe officers were assisted by personnel from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office along with other agencies, both municipal and state that operate in Johnson County.
Olathe Police will be conducting a DUI check lane on Friday, March 29th from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m..

Police say that during the check lane, all motorists in the designated area will be stopped and contacted in an effort to look for signs of impairment. Any drivers found in violation of the intoxicating liquor laws will be arrested. Drivers will also be checked for valid driver's licenses.

The check lane is a joint effort by the Olathe Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Highway Patrol and other Johnson County municipal agencies.

The location of the check lane is not released and Operation 100 News WILL NOT report to location of the check lane.
Around 8:20 Thursday morning, Merriam Police were called to an address in the 6300 block of Robinhood Lane by a witness who reported three subjects wearing camouflage and carrying rifles.

The subjects reportedly jumped out of a van and ran around the back of a home in the area.

Robinhood Lane intersects Shawnee Mission Parkway just west of Interstate 35. The 6300 block is just south of Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Officers responded to the area to check for the subjects. Officers walked around the corner of a home and were confronted by two people carrying rifles and one of the subjects pointed his rifle in the direction of the officers.

Merriam Police Department spokesperson Mike Daniels says, "luckily the officer noticed a small amount of orange paint on the barrel of the rifle and decided to give the subject verbal commands to "drop the gun." The subject immediately complied and was taken into custody."

While investigating further, officers learned that all of the rifles were air soft guns and the three subjects were practicing their tactics for an air soft game they had planned for later in the day. The 15-year-old that pointed the rifle at the officer thought the officers were the other team for the game.

No charges are being filed in this incident according to Merriam Police.
