Tim Summers has given an interview to the Voice of Russia radio station. In this interview, with John Robles, Tim discussed the growth of political repression in the UK and the USA, and the authorities' attacks on protests such as the Occupy Movement at St Paul's Cathedral and the anti-war camp at Parliament Square in London. The erosion of civil liberties must be fought with the demand for a more democratic system, according to Tim, and this should be based on the principle of Eco-Socialism.

Tim has fought for many years as a member of the Green Party, and he works tirelessly for a democratic system that will protect the ecology of the Earth. He is optimistic that the spontaneous upsurge of protest movements around the world is awakening the need for a truly democratic system, in order to be able to oppose the destructive war intentions of countries such as the USA and the UK.

Ref: Richard Prokopanko and Sharon Singh..Rio Tinto registered lobbyists.

I wish to place before you several criminal and other unethical matters which Prokopanko has not seen fit to inform your Government about.

You may feel Prokopanko has committed a criminal offense and should be prosecuted.

Mr. Prokopanko has caused the registration of Ms Singh as a lobbyist to your Government and he has at all times been aware of the following:

1. Ms Singh’s arrest record for dishonesty in Australia.

Ms Singh was arrested in 2000 and placed before Australian Courts for using 4 different names to improperly gain employment here.

Now if that were all of Ms Singh’s peccadilloes I would not be writing to you today, however, Prokopanko is well aware that Ms Singh has a history working for members of a notorious organized crime group forming partnerships with Paul Reed and Don Campbell, and Benji Venimen all ex drug traffickers, Read and Venimen had convictions for manslaughter and murder, respectively here in Australia. Additionally Prokopanko was well aware that Ms Singh had improperly obtained a job with Rio Tinto Iron Ore in Perth, Western Australia by falsely claiming to be an Australian citizen when she wasn’t and she did not have a proper Australian visa to work in Australia, and in obtaing that emploment she was acting contrary to her earlier court appearances when she was warned not to try to work again without proper authority but perhaps a more pertinent complaint against Singh would be:

That she gained an improper registration to practice law in Australia using deceit, an offense for which she would face criminal prosecution here in Australia.

The way she did this was.

a) Not to inform the legal Practice Board in Western Australia that:

1) She did not have permission to work in Australia.

2) But she did inform the practice board that she had worked for the president of the Victorian Supreme Court, Maxwell J. when this was not the case and was most certainly untrue.

3) She did not tell the practice board she had an arrest record for using 4 false names to gain un lawful employment.

4) She did not tell the practice board that she had been fired for theft of dog biscuits at Sims supermarket.

5) She did not tell the practice board that she had ongoing relationships with several high profile notorious criminals.

I think these matters are serious enough in themselves to be put before you, but of course there is much more to be revealed regarding the character and ethics of both Singh and Prokopanko than these outlines above. I am sure however, prudent simple enquiries as to suitability to lobby your Government would be revealing and may well prevent an international embarrassment.

Bradley Manning - victim of the USA Military Complex

Bradley Manning is the victim in this case - don't have any delusions about that. How could a low ranking soldier in the US services be such a source of damaging leaks? It is only possible because the USA has something to hide.

We have seen, in the past couple of days, that various people have made their views known. These people are declaring that Bradley is "guilty", even before the trial is completed. This tells me something - that agents of the US government are sending out signals that Bradley must be found "guilty" - so that a warning goes to anybody else contemplating "leaking" details to the media.

We must take the position, because this is the way Justice works, that Bradley is presumed innocent, and that he has the right to a fair trial. So why is there such an attack on Bradley, as his trial starts?

If Bradley did do what he is charged with, and he did leak information about what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, then he deserves a medal for exposing the war crimes that the USA were responsible for.

The key feature that emerges is that the US government were very embarrassed for the truth to be known, about what they were doing in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is the usual reason behind most of these type of cases. Politicians are inevitably embarrassed when are caught out doing some illegal or "dirty" action.

We often hear the phrase: "God bless America", but I think we should be saying "God bless Bradley Manning", for being a guy who was prepared to expose the crimes that the USA thought they could cover up.

Zatuliveter - Gordievsky lied to support paranoid MI5 numbskulls

Katya Zatuliveter has been cleared of the accusation of being a Russian spy. I couldn't see what other decision the Court could come to - at least it appeared to be obvious to me when I gave an interview to Voice of Russia last week.

One of the aspects that concerned me was that MI5 had acted unprofessionally in this case, particularly because of the paranoia that they seem to exhibit whenever a Russian is involved with a politician in Britain. Katya has stated the same view in her interview with the BBC, when she said that MI5 were 'unprofessional and paranoid'.

This institutional paranoia that permeates MI5 makes them see potential espionage activity from every Russian that arrives in the UK, and Katya says of MI5's attitude, that 'if you're Russian in this country you're a spy'.

So where does this leave our resident defector and chief MI5 ass-licker Oleg Gordievsky, who was so outspoken about the guilt of Miss Zatuliveter?

As early as October 2010 Gordievsky was condemning her as a Russian spy, in various British national daily newspapers. Gordievsky's views appear to have been used as major "evidence" against Katya. His sensationalist descriptions of Katya were circulated all around the world as some sort of exposure of her by a man who must know the truth in such situations - an ex-colonel in the KGB.

A very loquacious bird that talks a little too much for his own good

Well, after all the nonsense that Gordievsky has talked in the past year, I wonder why he is so silent today? It is all very well having a spokesperson to spread your lies all over the media, but when the truth is finally revealed, is it the parrot or the master who has bird shite all over their face?

We all know - because it is no secret that Gordievsky is a spokesperson for MI5 and MI6 - that he was put up to spreading the lies about Miss Zatuliveter. However, who is footing the bill for Gordievsky's incompetent and over-zealous attacks on Katya? Is it the British tax-payer who is supplying the money that makes Gordievsky talk, every time the British Intelligence Services need a bit of dirty propaganda splashed around the tabloids?

If British Intelligence are so incompetent, that they have to frame an innocent 26 year-old woman to create the illusion that they are great "spy-catchers", then what does this say about the organisation and the management of MI5?

Surely the Zatuliveter case clearly demonstrates what idiots we have supposedly protecting our National Security in Britain. MI5 must be the laughing stock of the intelligence world!

Tim Summers, Green Party campaigner talks about Occupy Movement

Tim Summers, political activist and campaigner for the British Green Party of England and Wales, has spoken out about the anti-capitalist Occupy Movements spreading around the world.

Tim gives his analysis of the causes that led to this movement and gives his opinion about where it is heading: "A lot of the comforts of the rich countries in the post-war period are now grinding to a halt. That’s why so many people are getting angry and calling themselves “99%."

Tim places the blame for the current situation on Capitalism, which he describes as a "rotten parasitic system that is addicted to oil and constant war" and puts forward his red-green political viewpoint - "Capitalism can’t take a position in its board rooms for zero growth, as any ecologist will spell out to you is necessary. It has to go on plundering the Earth’s resources for its profitability. It is an out-of-date system. It’s going into complete crisis and meltdown."

It seems certain that the Occupy Movement will continue to grow, and we can expect to see more demands for a resolution of the injustice we see in our society.

Katya Zatuliveter, Oleg Gordievsky & the Cambridge Parrot

Katya Zatuliveter has been in the news recently. I think she has been much maligned by the British Security Service (MI5) in order to gain some political advantage. I gave an interview a few days ago to the Voice of Russia radio station, to try to put the record straight.

Due to the limitations of a radio interview some parts of my interview had to be cut. For example, I talked about my Member of Parliament, Andrew Mackinlay MP:

John Robles: Do you know of other cases where Members of Parliament have been criticised for being connected to a Russian?

Michael John Smith: In 2008 my own MP, Andrew Mackinlay, was targeted in a smear campaign, simply because he had been having meetings with a Russian diplomat in the Houses of Parliament. Mr Mackinlay was a member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, so it was not unusual for him to have meetings with foreign representatives. Unfortunately, the paranoia of MI5 came into action, and stories suddenly started appearing in the newspapers that Mr Mackinlay was involved in something sinister, and that espionage might be involved.

John Robles: Surely, just talking with a diplomat doesn’t amount to spying?

Michael John Smith: No, I agree, but I believe in Mr Mackinlay’s case he became a target because he had asked probing questions in Parliament about issues that embarrassed the Government. For example, he was concerned about Britain’s involvement in the war in Iraq - he knew that Prime Minister Tony Blair had lied about the motives for the war. A smear campaign was an effective way to stop Mr Mackinlay causing embarrassment to the British Government and its Intelligence Services. Mr Mackinlay retired as an MP in 2010, but he did call for the British security services to be ‘brought under control’ for claiming there were too many Russian spies in the UK.

It seems that MI5 are acting more like Inspector Clouseau, rather than a sort of George Smiley character. However, Oleg Gordievsky, that ex-spy brought out at such occaisions to spread the disinformation, has not disappointed us this time. He claims that Katya was an important Russian spy.

David Rose the journalist, freely admitted that he was an agent of MI5 and MI6. It is good that he has declared his involvement in this disinformation of the news MI5 and MI6 want to circulate.

Sir Paul Stephenson resigned tonight. Only a few hours earlier Rebekah Brooks was arrested, and she also resigned on Friday, due to the impending legal threats she faces.

These are all clues about what is going on behind the scenes. It was asked on the BBC 24 Hours News channel today - why would the Police arrest Brooks today, when she was about to face an important meeting with MPs at the Select Committee on Tuesday? Brooks' arrest will prevent her talking openly to those MPs.

This is apparently confusing, but a little bit of analysis seems to indicate that the Police are trying to gain an advantage by out-manoeuvring the politicians, and putting pressure on Brooks not to talk to the MPs on Tuesday.

Clearly, the Police have the most credibility to lose in this saga. It was the Police who were alleged to have been taking bribes from News International, and it was the Police who failed to properly investigate the phone hacking and Police bribery allegations.

I think it will ultimately be revealed that Paul Stephenson had to resign to avoid being accused of incompetence, or worse. Stephenson will have to answer the accusations that he was too close to certain News International executives, and that this finally influenced the Police's failure to carry out the job that they were expected to do.

Corrupt Cop Detective Chief Superintendent Malcolm McLeod

Malcolm McLeod may present himself as an honest policeman, apparently now retired on a good pension, but the way he behaved in my case is thoroughly despicable. McLeod not only lied during his Police interviews following my arrest, but he was quite happy to present false evidence to the Court at my trial. I hope he ducked as he was swearing his oath, to avoid the bolts of lightning!

What false evidence did Malcolm McLeod produce? Well, for start he knew quite well that the so-called "ALARM" missile document was not only an obsolete document 8 years before I was arrested, but he deliberately engineered his Police investigation so that none of the 16 engineers listed on the circulation of that document were interviewed or called as witnesses to my trial. That document was presented as the main evidence against me. So, why do such a thing - unless you know that if these 16 people were called to give testimony then that will demolish your case? You dirty rat McLeod - you are just some trumped up loser - John Symonds told me how Special Branch officers are regarded as police who failed to make successful careers elsewhere.

McLeod also made the claim that I was given money from the KGB - listed elsewhere on my blog. McLeod gave personal testimony (under oath) in Court that he didn't have a clue where that money came from. Yet we had all the bank details that confirmed the dates, and from which banks that money had been withdrawn from. Well, the indications are that the money was issued from MI5 accounts, to implicate me in this sordid stitch-up! Why don't you come clean McLeod and just tell us what you know. The truth and nothing but the truth.

Leaks were made by the Police to the press to damage my defence case, and you know full well that the Sun and the Sunday Times were there ready to print the stories you wanted to get out into the public domain. With the recent evidence we have that News International was full of corruption, I can quite understand that there were bribes there waiting for you from Rupert Murdoch, or one of his cronies!

You also fabricated that false story about my tourist map, which I saved from my holiday in Oporto - you said it was linked to some invented KGB operation. Have you ever heard of any other KGB operation in Oporto? That story bears no relation to the later Mitrokhin Archive report, which I presume you were referring to, which talks about an operation in Lisbon some 200 miles down the coast, about 2 years later? So were you lying, or was Mitrokhin lying? I don't see why it is up to me to decide who is telling the truth there!

It was you, McLeod, who was involved in making that bogus telephone call to my home on the morning of my arrest. So if the name "Viktor" was the key name in your case against me, then why did you not produce the proof that this "Viktor" was in fact "Viktor Oshchenko". You never produced any evidence at my trial who this Viktor was? You heard Stella Rimington tell the Court, under oath, that MI5 had no evidence linking me with Oshchenko, so why did you make the claims you did - without proof! What a corrupt cop you really are! I hope you rot in hell !!!

Police, Phone Hacking, the Sun & Sunday Times

We are only just getting accustomed to the shocking news of what happened at the News of The World, and the phone hacking scandal. Hopefully Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks will be called to answer questions next week and reveal all that they know! Now we have the escalation of this saga to include the Sun and Sunday Times, as revealed in the story about Gordon Brown. It seems that there was a sort sickness at News International.

This new evidence goes to support the accusations I have made against these newspapers: about the Sun, and the Sunday Times. Just what was the relationship between these newspapers and the Police back in 1992/3? I guess it was the same as it was when the News of The World was offering bribes to the Police for information about stories.

Very soon after my arrest the Special Branch policeman in charge of my case, Detective Chief Superintendent Malcolm McLeod, had made suggestions to my wife that I had been ordered by the KGB to marry her as a cover for spying activities. This was a complete lie designed to give her a false view of me and our marriage, and clearly the Police cared nothing about my wife's feelings but just wanted her to turn against me and give them what evidence they could extract from her.

Then, following my conviction, we have this same story emerging in the Sun newspaper. It could only have come from the Police, who were the people who had invented this story. I blame Malcolm McLeod for passing this story to the Sun and he probably authorised the media to be given access to my wedding photographs, which had been seized as evidence by the Police searching my home and were in the possession of the Police.

The Sunday Times article was also clearly something that was leaked to them by a high level source, and aimed at damaging my Defence case. Its publication would also dissuade any potential witnesses from coming forward and becoming implicated in a major Official Secrets Act espionage trial. Again, I blame Malcolm McLeod for being involved in this corrupt association with News International newspapers.

I would have expected the Police to have acted fairly and left the decision about Justice to the courts. However, the leaking of personal information and false stories about me could only have been done with the deliberate intention of swaying the odds in favour of the Prosecution case. Which is exactly what happened. Not only did the Police act unfairly in what they did, they also acted unfairly in what they did not do.

As we learned today in the case of the phone hacking investigation, a lot was not done by the Police to identify the victims and the culprits in that case. No doubt the Police did not want to discover who was accepting bribes and just how deeply corrupt practices had developed between the Police and the Press. This lack of activity also went on in the investigation of my case - why did the Police not discover that the "ALARM" missile document became obsolete 8 years before my arrest, which allowed the CPS to present it as a document actually used on ALARM missiles deployed in the Gulf War of 1991 - which could not possibly be true!

Gaining convictions by avoiding investigating the key evidence is something the Police must be good at. Again, I blame Malcolm McLeod for this decision not to investigate the "ALARM" document - or at least, as head of the investigation he must have known the truth, but that would not have helped him to win in Court. It is easy for me to now understand how such processes work, and the corruption of the Press and the Police is there to be seen by those who really look for it.

News International bribe corrupt Police for crime evidence

News of the World may be dead, and in recent days we have become increasingly aware of the public's distaste about the total disregard of the News of The World's staff for individual privacy. News International has shown complete disrespect for the Law and is quite happy to act corruptly and bribe the Police.

The Sun newspaper published one of the photographs from my wedding day, on page 9 of its 19 November 1993 edition. How did the Sun get hold of a private photo, which was not in the public domain, and was in fact my personal copyright?

We now know that News International journalists would routinely bribe Police officers in order to obtain information about cases being investigated by the Police. It is clear that money must have changed hands at my home shortly after my arrest. Otherwise, how on earth would the Sun get hold of one of my private wedding photos, unless they had paid a corrupt cop to get access to it?

I have a list of all the Police officers who are were recorded as having access to my home in 1992. I expect one of those Police officers was paid a bribe to give the Sun my wedding photo. Perhaps I should publish this here. However, the details are already available elsewhere on the Internet. My friend John Alexander Symonds (the "Romeo Spy") has explained to me just how this culture of corruption is institutionally endemic within the Police organisation.

I could have considered this as a minor issue - perhaps - compared to the unfairness of the trial I had just experienced over the previous 7/8 weeks. However, the publication of this photo was instrumental in causing my wife to divorce me, and so I blame News International, and Rupert Murdoch in particular, for running an organisation that has this culture of ... "anything goes!" But then we must also consider that James Murdoch, Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson also have a lot to answer for.

So, what should I do about the publication of my wedding photo, something which I never agreed to?

However, this was not the only abuse by the press after I was arrested. Many details about my wife and I were leaked and published to try to undermine my Defence before the case got to trial. For example, one of the worst things to happen involved another Rupert Murdoch newspaper - The Sunday Times. Only a month after my arrest all the Police claims against me were published in the Sunday Times on 6th September 1992. This was particularly damaging as many of those allegations were later dropped before my trial, but obviously the accuracy of these reports was not important to either the journalists, the newspapers or the Police!

Joanne Fraill - who is in contempt of Court?

Joanne Fraill has been sentenced to 8 months in prison for contempt of Court, by discussing the case in which she was a juror on FaceBook. How very noble and authoritarian it is for the judge to show no mercy to a woman such as this - what an example it makes to others that they must obey the rules and not flout the Law of the land!

But does this case not also demonstrate the traditional British hypocrisy that exists in our Establishment - how a judge will quite happily chastise the weak, while the strong go unpunished?

I commented in my last post about the case involving Mark Kennedy, in which the CPS deliberately concealed evidence in order to gain a conviction. What does that case say about the respect shown by the Crown Prosecution Service for the Judicial System?

I believe the Kennedy case demonstrated a blatant institutionalized contempt of Court, far more insidious than anything Joanne Fraill may have been guilty of. But will heads role at the CPS over the Kennedy case? Will anybody go to prison for that contempt of Court? I doubt it very much, because these guys probably went to the same public school, or meet in the same Lodge with their trousers leg rolled up. It is another world when you are on that side of the fence!

I have often complained that evidence was falsified at my own trial - I call that perverting the course of Justice, but the CPS were again responsible for that abuse. I accuse the CPS of contempt of Court for deliberately placing a false case before the jury, knowing that this would lead to my conviction. Luckily I have the ability to analysis what they did and have discovered the false evidence by my own efforts. To the discredit of the CPS - they have never acknowledged that they did anything wrong. Nobody will face charges for lying in Court or concealing evidence in my case. The CPS's unprofessional acts are ignored, and the evidence brushed under the carpet.

The CPS is further implicated in presenting false evidence to the jury in the trial of Daniel James. In trying to help Daniel I published parts of important witness statements, from witnesses that the Prosecution would not be calling because they would assist the Defence case. Shortly after this act I was warned that I was in contempt of Court, and that both I and Daniel could be prosecuted. Apparently my publication of these witness statements was put to the judge in the case. However, I stood firm and decided not to remove the post from my blog, and it is still there to this day.

Why do you think I was not prosecuted for contempt of Court? I can only conclude that raising this issue would have brought the whole basis for the case against Daniel into the open. I would certainly have used in my Defence that Daniel was being unfairly tried, and this would have raised serious doubts about the evidence against him. Also, the way Daniel was being tried in a Civilian Court, when he had requested a Court Martial.

Just as I always thought, "Justice" is manipulated to support those with the power in our country. The small guy only wins when he has the evidence to embarrass the wig wearing class of judges and barristers.

CPS concealed evidence in Mark Kennedy Case

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) concealed evidence in the Mark Kennedy case, involving the plan to shut down the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottingham in 2009. This was discussed on the BBC2 Newsnight programme tonight and on the BBC website today. Mark Kennedy was in fact an undercover police agent pretending to act as an environmental campaigner.

It seems unbelievable that the CPS would behave in such a way by concealing evidence, as this is tantamount to perverting the course of Justice. But it is clear that the CPS was planning to convict the environmental activists involved, despite knowing that their organisation (the CPS) was withholding key evidence, as explained in the Guardian newspaper - many thanks to Paul Lewis and Rob Evans!! The Police knew all about the plans concerning the power station, because they had a recording of the meeting at the Iona Primary School where the campaigners met on Easter Monday 2009.

This may be big news to those naive enough to believe that the CPS is acting in the interests of Justice. But to people like myself this is simply confirmation that the CPS exists to convict those targeted by Government agencies as undesirable.

In August 1992, just days following my arrest for espionage, it was brought to the attention of the CPS that the key document in my case had been made obsolete in 1984. I only discovered this in 2007, despite efforts to prevent this information becoming known to myself and my Member of Parliament Andrew Mackinlay. The CPS had therefore concealed this evidence for many years, and they conspired to present an alternative story to the jury at my trial in October 1993, when it was claimed that that the document had in fact been used on British ALARM missiles deployed in the Gulf War of 1991.

This evidence that an obsolete document from 1984 was used to produce ALARM missiles in the early 1990s is plainly false, but the CPS cleverly used Professor Meirion Francis Lewis, an MoD scientist from Malvern, to claim that the document had been used on ALARM missiles during that war. He explained to the jury that the missile was vital to protecting the lives of British servicemen, and that the obsolete 1984 document would have enabled Iraqis to jam the missile and prevent it from working.

Perhaps many people will say: "that is OK, it doesn't matter as long as the guilty are convicted". However, this was the main evidence used at my trial to identify that I had handled sensitive material, and so it was crucial to my Defence that I had not dealt with military secrets at the time of my arrest. If a real expert had been called to give evidence at my trial, then it would have been made clear to the jury that the document could not have been used on ALARM missiles in the 1991 Gulf War.

The CPS chose to call a non-expert at my trial - Professor Lewis - and they used him to make false assertions about that document. I would call this perverting the course of Justice, and I would say that Professor Lewis knowingly committed perjury when he made his claims in Court. Will anybody listen to this? Is the CPS above the Law? Perhaps all those who know the truth at the CPS are merely liars and conspirators.

All I know is that the CPS acted unprofessionally in my case, and this Mark Kennedy case shows they also acted unprofessionally in that case as well. How many cases does it take to prove that the CPS in unprofessional?

Ryan Giggs & Imogen Thomas super-injunction nonsense

Ryan Giggs may have had an affair with Imogen Thomas, but who really cares?

The main issue coming out of this "affair" is that the judges think they can stifle debate and free speech. Judges must be living in another world if they think they can order us about like fools.

I was told that I would face contempt of Court proceedings for publishing witness statements from the Daniel James case. Those statements are still on my blog nearly 3 years later, and I have faced no charges whatsoever because of publishing them.

This is where you can sort the men from the boys. If we have the truth on our side then just go out and say it like it is. Do not let some judge (they all go to public schools you know) tell you that you cannot talk about the truth.

In fact, it would be a great opportunity if these judges do take some of us to Court. Then we can tell them how certain barristers have lied in Court - how they put witnesses into the Witness Box who were prepared to lie under oath - and why will they not give us a chance to say what we know before an honourable judge.

Unfortunately the judges and the judiciary are shit-scared of the truth being revealed. But I am here waiting for the call, and please let me have my day in Court.

Professor Christopher Andrew squawks more rubbish

Professor Christopher Andrew, otherwise know as "The Cambridge Parrot", has just made another podcast on behalf of MI5 to be disseminated as serious comment via The National Archives website.

The parrot brags in this podcast about his role as being the official historian for MI5 - what a pretty boy he is. However, the deception of Christopher Andrew's work is that he conveniently removed all references from his "official" MI5 history in relation to my case on the issue of Portugal and Oporto, which proved to be the most important evidence at my trial in 1993. The conclusion to be drawn is that Dame Stella Rimington fabricated that evidence in order to secure my conviction, and now the parrot has removed it from the archives on the orders of his MI5 handlers. I have always found that protection against embarrassment is a key modus operandi of MI5's approach, and the parrot proves again what a useful servant he is in their cause.

Well, Prof Andrew can squawk all he likes about his references to KV file numbers, because we now know that all he is doing is putting out the version of propaganda that MI5 and MI6 are keen to get into the public domain. This is their version of the "jigsaw" that they so often speak about.

Yet again, Andrew repeats the fictitious story about Roger Hollis having been a Soviet agent - but why not acknowledge the testimony of John Alexander Symonds, who has clearly stated in his own writings that the real Soviet mole within MI5 around that time was its other Director General, Sir Howard Smith. It was not surprising that Smith was removed from office when John Symonds returned to the UK from Moscow. Who pulled the strings then I wonder? James Callaghan was mentioned at the time.

I guess we will never hear the real story of MI5, until we are all dead in a couple of hundred years time. The truth is really too uncomfortable for those at Thames House, and that other lot just up the river in Vauxhall.

As usual, the CPS are continuing to withhold evidence from trials and engineering the conviction of innocent people. In 1993, the CPS withheld important evidence from my trial which led to my conviction. Although they are very eager to obtain their false convictions, the legal system is not so willing to correct the damage they cause through the appeal system.

The Irish Crown Jewels: A Mystery Solved

There is no contestation that the Irish Crown Jewels – emeralds, rubies and diamonds presented to the Irish nation by William IV in the 19th century, were kept in a safe in Dublin Castle’s Bedford Tower. They were in the care of Sir Arthur Vicars, the Ulster King of Arms, his nephew Pierce Mahoney, and two assistants.

On June the 28th, 1907, Vicars reported that his key to the tower’s main door had vanished.

Five days later, the cleaner, a certain Mrs. Farrell, found the main door unlocked when she arrived for work. Then finally, on July 6th, she noticed something even more strangely: the door to the strong room where the jewels were kept, had been left open overnight. That afternoon, a castle porter named Stivey entered Vicar’s room while Vicars and Mahoney were examining the gold and enamelled collar of the Order of St Patrick. Vicars gave the porter a safe key and ordered him to put the collar with the rest of the jewels. A few minutes later, Stivey returned with the alarming news that the safe was already open. Vicars made a swift inspection and is said to have cried, ‘My God, the jewels are gone!

’

Police never caught the thief. Within a month of the crime, Scotland Yard detectives had produced a report with the name of their prime suspect. However, this report was suppressed, and the Chief Inspector recalled. Later during that year Edward VII demanded that all four men responsible for guard the jewels, step down.

14 years later, Vicars was found dead in the garden of his home in County Kerry. The body was riddled with bullets and a label was found that read: ‘IRA Never Forgets’. But the Irish Republican Army insisted that it was not involved. Regardless, most people in Ireland believed Vicars to be an innocent man who had been badly treated by the British Government. No trace of the Irish Crown Jewels has ever been found.

Those are the basic known facts.

But as always there is something more sinister in all of the above and the Jewels have ‘technically’ not been recovered.

Now in 1917, aged 53, Vicars married Miss Gertrude Wright. In May 1920, Vicars was attacked in his home, Kilmorna House, near Listowel, county Kerry. Vicars showed great courage and the intruders left. On 14 April 1921, the house was again attacked, this time during daylight. One of the attackers stated that their only intent was to burn the house and that no lives would be lost. Shortly after 10.00 a.m. the house was set alight, and Vicars was murdered as he left the house. The house and its contents were completely destroyed. The Irish Republican Army issued a statement that the murder had not been carried out under its orders.

So who wanted Vicars dead and why?

Vicars left a written will dated 14 May 1920, the same month as the first attack on Kilmorna House. The executors of the will were his wife, Lady Vicars, his brother, Major Vicars and his sister, Mrs. de Janasz. The relevant Oaths of Executors were signed on 1 March 1922, but on 20 March, when the will was submitted for probate, the following note was attached to the Oaths of Executors: “By direction of the Rt Honble Mr Justice Dodd let the words beginning “I might have had” (line 36, p. 2) to the words “the next world” (line 8, p. 3) be excluded from probate.”

The sealed envelope, in which the will was contained, bore the external notes:

After directions for his burial and the disposition of funds to various bequests, Vicars specifically noted that no bequest would be made to his half-brother Pierce Mahony (father of the sometime Cork Herald, Peirce Gun Mahony). With regard to his books and manuscripts he specified:

“With regard to my personal effects – I give and bequeath all my Genealogical and heraldic MSS. other than family pedigrees to the British Museum. It is not my wish that any should go to the Office of Arms Ireland. The rest of my books on Heraldry Genealogy Archaeology & history I bequeath to my dear wife to do as she likes with – perhaps she may desire to give any of interest to my family or the British Museum or the National Library of Ireland.”

Moveable possessions, including jewellery, were left to his wife. Then occurs the following:

“I might have had more to dispose of had it not been for the outrageous way in which I was treated by the Irish Govt. over the loss of the Irish Crown Jewels in 1907 backed up by the late King Edward VII whom I had always loyally & faithfully served - when I was made a scapegoat to save other departments responsible and when they shielded the real culprit & thief Francis R. Shackleton (brother of the Explorer who didn’t reach the South Pole). My whole life & work was ruined by this cruel misfortune & by the wicked and blackguardly acts of the Irish Government. I had sunk my whole fortune in my profession & was left without any means but for the magnanimous conduct of my dear brother George Gun Mahony. I am unconscious of having done anyone wrong & my very misfortune arose from my being unsuspicious & trusting to a one time friend & official of my former office. I had hoped to leave a legacy to my dear little dog “Ronnie” had he not been taken from me this year – well we shall meet in the next world.”

History shows that in August 1910, Francis Shackleton was declared a bankrupt and served a period in prison. On his release from prison he assumed a pseudonym and was not heard of publicly again. Late in July 1913, Vicars petitioned Lord Aberdeen to petition King George V for the establishment of a new Commission of Enquiry into the robbery. The King suggested a full public enquiry but this was disallowed.

So what happened to the Crown Jewels of Ireland?

A 1927 memo in the ‘Crown jewels file’ states the following: “He (The President of the Executive Council, Mr W.T. Cosgrave) understands that the Castle Jewels are for sale and that they could be got for £2000 or £3000. He would be prepared to recommend their purchase for the same reason (i.e. he would not like them to be used either as a means of reviving the Order or to pass into any hands but that of the State).

The evidence can be obtained from the actual police report of Scotland Yard that as stated was suppressed. That Shackleton stole the jewels is within the ‘suppressed’ report but what the report does not state is that Shackleton handed over the jewels to the then Commissioner Sir Edward Henry who handed them over to Herbert Gladstone the then Home Secretary. The next handover was to Winston Churchill as Home Secretary on the 20th February 1910 and who handed them over for safekeeping to David Lloyd George who was the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Winston Churchill took back possession of the jewels on the 7th November 1924 as the new Chancellor of the Exchequer and it was he who suggested in 1927 that the jewels could be restored to Dublin by way of anonymous letter as a way out. For safekeeping the jewels were kept ‘physically’ by the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police until 1924 when Winston Churchill ordered that Sir Montagu Collet Norman take the jewels in custody at the Bank of England for safekeeping where they remain TO THIS DAY.

Edward VII died in 1910 and there is no suggestion he knew or was party to the whereabouts of the jewels. Neither is there any suggestion that George V knew and to all intent and purposes the matter died a natural death.

Was Shackleton treated with kid gloves? Of course he was because his brother, Sir Ernest Shackleton, was a national hero and a favourite of the King. Was Shackleton having a homosexual affair with anyone within the Royal Family? Certainly when Shackleton was interviewed he made it clear that if any accusations were laid at his door he would ‘expose many wrong things’ within the Royal Family. Having been exposed however, the British Government was not going to allow Shackleton to keep the jewels and neither was he able to sell or dispose of them. It was the then Under Secretary of State Sir Mackenzie Dalzell Chalmers who suggested to the Home Secretary, Gladstone, that a ‘deal could be done to recover anonymously’. Once in the hands of the Home Office what should have happened was to have simply restored the jewels but as often there was a long delay. So to this day the jewels remain in the vaults of the bank of England which leaves only the final question: why was Vicars murdered? To follow that question of course is who killed Vicars in such a brutal way?

As the jewels belong to Ireland there is no reason why the Irish Government cannot simply request the return.

By way of post script the note that Cosgrave received in 1927 by way of ‘information’ if analyzed will have the fingerprints of Winston Churchill and possible those of Sir William Horwood.

Edda Caino NOT Mussolini daughter?

In February 1945, Edda Ciano was in contact with the US Secret Service in Bern, Switzerland at that time headed by Allen Dulles for the SALE of her husband (Count Galeazzo) diaries. He had been executed a year previous.

On the 11th February 1945, a Sunday in particular, an agent of the OSS Tracey Barnes and the editor of the Chicago Daily News Paul Gali, went to visit Edda Ciano in Martigny (Switzerland) where she was housed in a psychiatric clinic. In fact they met in Monthey a few miles away with Edda having received special permission to leave the clinic for a few hours.

What is important from the report are the observations of Tracey Barnes and the references specifically from Edda Ciano of her Russian origins. It had always been a gossip at the time that Edda was NOT the daughter of Donna Rachele but of Angelica Balabanoff a Russian Revolutionary who had been a long time lover of Benito Mussolini from 1909. Angelica Balananoff was a pupil of Antonio Labriola between 1919 and 1920 the then secretary of Vladimir Lenin.

Nel febbraio 1945, Edda Ciano è in trattative con i Servizi segreti americani, rappresentati a Berna da Allen Dulles, per la vendita dei diari di suo marito, il conte Galeazzo Ciano (fucilato un anno prima a Verona).

L’11 febbraio ’45, una domenica, l’agente dell’Oss Tracey Barnes e l’editore Paul Gali di Chicago, Daily News, si recano in visita da Edda Ciano a Martigny (Svizzera), dove la figlia di Mussolini era ricoverata in una clinica psichiatrica. La cosa più importante che emerge dalle osservazioni di Barnes è il riferimento chiaro da parte di Edda alle sue origini russe. Si era sempre vociferato, infatti durante il regime fascista, che Edda non fosse figlia di Rachele, bensì di Angelica Balabanoff, una rivoluzionaria russa che aveva avuto una lunga e intesa relazione con il giovane Mussolini, all’epoca socialista, a partire dal 1909. La Balananoff fu allieva di Antonio Labriola e, tra il 1919 e il 1920, segretaria della Terza

Internazionale di Vladimir Lenin.

LETTERE DI EDDA CIANO AD ALLEN DULLES

Caro signor Dulles,

Se Le è possibile, faccia per piacere qualcosa per la mia famiglia, che ha la sola colpa di portare il nome di mio padre.

Mio padre ha pagato. Si è trattato dell’unica, logica conclusione di una vita straordinaria. Anche se non ce la faccio proprio a pensare allo spettacolo di Piazzale Loreto.

In ogni modo, gli idoli non possono che cadere rovinosamente quando il popolo non crede più in loro. Vengono fatti a pezzi dalla medesima folla – stupida e cieca – che era solita adorarli.

Come può capire, cerco di considerare il lato filosofico della questione. Per non crollare. Ma – per Dio – è difficile.

Tornando allo scopo di questa lettera, tenti di salvare il resto della mia famiglia. Almeno, mio fratello Romano, mia sorella Annamaria e mia cognata con i suoi tre figli.

Sono tutte persone innocenti e pure, come l’acqua che sgorga dalla sorgente.

Per quanto riguarda mia madre e mio fratello Vittorio, non sono che degli sciocchi.

Può sembrare strano che io Le faccia queste richieste. Ma Lei è un essere umano che ragiona e che ha un cuore. Oppure, dobbiamo diventare tutti dei selvaggi? Non lo so. Mi piacerebbe dire molte cose ma, in qualche modo, mi sento confusa.

La supplico soltanto di fare ciò che Le è possibile. Anche se io non ho alcun diritto di chiederLe così tanto. La prego, signor Dulles.

Le sono comunque grata fin d’ora, perché so che non sarà colpa sua se la cosa non dovesse andare in porto. Ma, per piacere, faccia del suo meglio.

Caro signor Dulles,

spero vivamente che la pubblicazione dei Diari [di Galeazzo Ciano] – a parte l’interesse che essi ricoprono – possa riabilitare la memoria di mio marito e mostrarlo come egli era veramente.

Se così fosse, non avrei sofferto invano dolore, avversità e umiliazioni.

Purtroppo, non ho potuto agire prima ma, come Lei sa bene, non è stata colpa mia.

Lei è probabilmente al corrente del fatto che il Governo svizzero sta facendo del suo meglio per espellermi. Perché? E’ un mistero. Non sono un criminale di guerra (e come potrei?).

Il Governo italiano non ha richiesto la mia estradizione. E in vita mia non ho mai fatto nulla contro la Svizzera, un Paese che non ha il diritto di comportarsi in tal modo.

Ma ormai ho smesso di cercare di capire ciò che è giusto e ciò che non lo è. E non posso dannarmi fino alla morte.

Tuttavia, se la Svizzera dovesse rispedirmi in Italia, conoscerei in breve il significato della morte. E il fatto che io sia del tutto innocente, farà un gran

bene alla mia memoria negli anni avvenire.

Ma la questione che intendo discutere è quella dei miei figli. Non posso e non desidero portarli con me. Anche se nulla di tragico dovesse accadere, essi non potrebbero condurre una vita decente.

Io voglio che i miei figli siano felici e che dimentichino tutti gli orrori subìti. Desidero che essi diventino persone buone e perbene.

Soprattutto, non voglio inculcare dell’odio nei loro cuori.

Il mio sogno era quello di recarmi negli Usa. Qui, i miei figli sarebbero stati

educati diventando, in breve, cittadini americani.

Per me, la possibilità che ciò accada sembra remota. Ma, per loro, forse qualcosa si può fare.

Lei può aiutarmi? Anche se non ne sono sicura, sento che Lei mi ha già aiutata molto (e non solo per la questione dei Diari di mio marito). Ho totale fiducia in Lei.

The Murder of Palmiro Togliatti

On a warm August day in 1964, the 21st to be precise, at approximately 11am, in a place called ARTEK near Yalta, in what was then the USSRS now the Russian Federation, an Italian Communist Palmiro Togliatti was murdered.

The first indication of murder in any case is the absence of clarity as to cause of death. In the case of Togliatti, who had just finished giving a speech in the woodland area he loved so much with his lover Nilde Iotti, the so-called cause of death was either a brain hemorrhage (ictus) or heart attack. There is of course an enormous difference between the two. But as a matter of pure law and administration, the legal cause of death to this day has never been established.

The second indication in suspicious circumstances in any death in any jurisdiction is the absence of a post mortem that establishes the cause of death to the best of the ability of any pathologist. The third indication is the willingness of the State to ‘do things in a hurry’ and to bury/cremate the body as quickly as possible. In this case, the Russian Ambassador personally accompanied the body of Palmiro Togliatti to Moscow, and further to Rome, where he was buried on 25th August 1964, surprisingly in the Verano Cemetery, even though as a Communist he had preferred to be buried at the Cimitero Acattolico. It was not to be, because, the moment the Russian Ambassador made the request to the then Italian Government, within one day Togliatti was housed in the Verano.

Togliatti had cheated death three times. In 1922, the Fascist Black shirts had orders to kill him but failed. In 1937 in Alicante, Spain, where yet another miraculous escape occurred, and in the famous attempt on his life in 1948, which made public his adulterous relationship with Nilde Lotti.

So his 'natural’ death in the woodlands, whilst talking to children about Communism in the Russian language in Artek, has for many years simply been passed over as ‘one of those things’.

Palmiro Togliatti was in fact murdered by the CIA/MI6 and the KGB in one of the rare multi-national operations and in a spirit of cooperation that has to this day not been repeated.

Why would the Russians want him dead? He was, after, all a great communist, and had been for many years. The answer is basically simple, as in most matters. The ‘second in command’ of Russia at that time was Brezhnev who subsequently became the ‘boss’ of Russia for many years and guided Russia through many crisis. His antithesis was Khrushchev whose fate we all know. Palmiro Togliatti was no great supporter of Brezhnev. The policy that Togliatti wanted of Russia was a close cooperation with China to show the world that communism works. If communism could not work between Russia and China, what chance did it have in Europe? Yet, in 1963, the Italian Communists had taken 26% of the vote in Italy and were indeed in a strong position. It was the dictum of Togliatti to promote an international congress on communism to bring together Russia and China. His murder put a halt to this. Brezhnev was against it, and with a popular voice such as that of Togliatti in the country, he simply had to go.

It was Brezhnev who gave the order to participate in the triumvirate with the scope of murdering Togliatti. He could not do it alone. He needed alliances and he got them.

In the papers of the Communist Party of Great Britain, dated 1946, contained in the National Archives, there is a signed note from Palmiro Togliatti to Rajani Palme Dutt in support of the CPGB. There is evidence that Togliatti and the then leader of the CPGB, Palme Dutt, became missive friends. But what Togliatti could never have known was that Rajani Palme Dutt was a British Spy. Thus the connection.

Palme Dutt had reported to Kim Philby the ‘advancement of PT’. But it was Sir Richard White who gave the final approval to an operation that would be simple and straightforward: Kill Palmiro Togliatti.

The Americans had every reason to want Togliatti dead. They fought communism tooth and nail in every corner of the world, and Italy was an important station to them. In 1963, when the Italian Communist Party took 26% of the vote - primarily because of the guiding direction of Togliatti and financing from Russia, they moved.

De facto, the decision that became the signature on the death warrant came on the 20th August 1964, after Togliatti had finished his ‘face to face’ meeting with Brezhnev and made clear that, as far as the European Communist Movement was concerned, the policy to Russia must be one of close ties with China.

Russian agents on 20th August 1964 visited Luigi Longo and Enrico Berlinguer. They sought from them assurances that Togliatti’s ideology would not be followed. They received such and, on 21st August 1964, Palmiro Togliatti was dead. His position was taken by Luigi Longo with influence in policy dictum of Berlinguer. They never sought to follow the line that Togliatti had so much to a wish to follow, but which turned to be his death wish.

In his relationship with Russia, for Togliatti it was a policy of ‘Russia and communism first’, which was accentuated when he was the principal sponsor in establishing the AutoVAZ (Lada) automobile manufacturing plant, in collaboration with Fiat, which was renamed Tolyatti (as transliterated from Тольятти, the Russian spelling of his name) in his honor in 1964, after his death. It is to be noted also that the first act that Avv. Giovanni Agnelli made upon the Presidency of FIAT in 1967 was to sign an Italo-Russian agreement on more favorable terms, however founded upon the pact that Togliatti was instrumental in establishing. The firm of Italsider in Taranto was financed primarily by Russian funds and its first contract was the supply of metal tubes to Russia, all thanks to Togliatti. But at all times on examining the relationship and contracts, all are on favorable terms to Russia. The agreement in 1960 between ENI and the Russian Oil Company, Soyuznefteexport, was covertly ‘brokered’ by Togliatti, and certainly carried his heavy recommendation with Moscow.

That Togliatti had many enemies is a known fact. Many wanted him dead, but many also wanted him alive. Within his own party there was a feeling that he had betrayed Antonio Gramsci the per se founder of the Italian Communist Party, with policies that veered upon commercial enterprise.

Those that sought his demise and ultimate death turned into a triumvirate, for differing reasons. Brezhnev knew that Togliatti supported his ascendancy to the leadership in Russia, but it came at a price - one that he was not willing to pay, and which he could attain at a lesser cost. His decision to order the murder of Togliatti was without much further thought or recrimination. The United Kingdom, holding up the view of the United States (papers show the cabinet even mooted becoming a State within the US), as well as the anti-communism feeling, were aware of and fully supported the action.

Principal MI6 agent, Palme Dutt, whilst playing the role of a leader of International Communism and befriending the likes of Togliatti, made sure that all information gleaned from Togliatti since 1946 was made available to his paymasters.

So, what happened that morning on 21st August 1964 in Artuk? We know that Togliatti collapsed shortly after taking a drink of water and never recovered. Everything happened at great haste, and the body was taken to Moscow and then on to Rome. No post-mortem. Not even a death certificate as such, within 48 hours it was all over a fait accompli.

The US had supplied to Russian agents the toxic agent saxotoxin. The CIA had used such regularly to kill its adversaries and targets since the 1950s. In fact, the US pilot Gary Powers had this with him when he was captured in Russia, in case escape was impossible.

The toxin, saxotoxin, is water soluble, heat and base stabile, and is therefore not affected by steaming or cooking. It inhibits sodium channels of excitable membranes, blocking propagation of nerve and muscle action potentials. The symptoms: usually occur within 10 minutes, and include parasthesias of the lips, tongue, gums and face. This process proceeds to the trunk and progresses to paralysis and respiratory arrest.

On that fateful Friday morning of 21st August 1964, within minutes of Togliatti drinking water, he was dead.

When Togliatti died, the Soviet Ambassador to Italy flew to Moscow, only to accompany the body back to Rome. Togliatti, the ambassador told the press, would be buried in the Cimitero Acattolico, along with Antonio Gramsci.

G. Frederick Reinhardt, a career officer of the U.S. Foreign Service, had been the American Ambassador to Italy since 1961. He chaired the Committee of Ambassadors overseeing the cemetery, and he refused.

When the Soviet ambassador heard of Reinhardt’s stand, he asked to see Reinhardt; unfortunately the Ambassador was too busy to receive him. An Italian official told an American Embassy officer informally that the government hoped the burial could be permitted; the Communists were a large party in Italy, and why cause trouble? (The American suggested that if Togliatti were so important, perhaps he could be put in the Pantheon alongside the two kings of Italy who lie there.)

Eventually the Soviet and American envoys spoke. Reinhardt reminded the Russian that, as a rule, Italians could not be buried in the cemetery. Perhaps, however, there was a way. Reinhardt had served in the American embassy at Moscow during World War II, and he recalled that the Soviet government had granted Soviet citizenship to Palmiro Togliatti. If, said Reinhardt, the Soviet ambassador could just send him a note confirming that the Italian Communist was actually a Soviet citizen, Togliatti could be buried immediately at the cemetery.

The next day Togliatti was buried in the main Rome cemetery. That was on 25th August 1964, at 18.00 hours.

Now, another interesting factor follows.

Palmiro Togliatti, having been granted citizenship from what was then the USSRS, would have, if declared openly, not been eligible for any kind of political post. He certainly could not have been a Minister, as he was, and certainly not even a Deputy in Parliament. According to Italian law, multiple citizenship is permitted under certain conditions, if acquired on or after 15 August 1992. But not before. Prior to such it was not permitted and, as a lawyer, Togliatti would have known this.

Togliatti was Minister of Justice in 1945-1946, a Constituent of the Assembly of Italy between 1946-1948, and a Member of Parliament between 1948 until his murder. If, as Reinhardt states, Togliatti was indeed a Russian citizen, he would have been ineligible for political office.

But, in comparison to murder by the very party that Togliatti so lived and worked for, ineligibility for office was the least of his concerns. Togliatti had no idea that his own political ideology would ultimately be his sentence of death. Those that he trusted, like Brezhnev, Palme Dutt, Longo, Berlinguer, all ultimately betrayed him, and in one way or another were responsible for his death.

There is no evidence that Iotti knew anything. She was, after all, a woman, and in the minds of the Russians of little to no significance. Had it not been for the attempt on Togliatti’s life in 1948, it is uncertain whether Italy would ever have known how Togliatti had betrayed his wife to be with Iotti.

What is clear, however, is that, with the murder of Togliatti, there were certainly excellent relations with Russians, as far as trade was concerned. The seeds sown by Togliatti reaped great rewards for ENI and FIAT.

Anna Chapman deprived of UK citizenship

Anna Chapman has not done anything against Britain as far as I am aware. So I find it odd that she has been deprived of her UK citizenship over some rather vague accusations of what she was doing in the USA? Odd that Igor Sutyagin wants to return to Russia after being sent to the UK, and Anna Chapman wants to come to Britain after being sent to Russia.

al-Megrahi - David Cameron to release documents of Lockerbie bombing

Great news here for justice! US President Barak Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron met today, and a promise was made by Cameron to resolve the background to this case by releasing documents about the alleged Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi.

Al-Megrahi returns home

It seems that many of the questions over the al-Megrahi case relate to what is contained in these official documents. If David Cameron releases all of the still undisclosed documents, then perhaps we (the public) can finally discover the truth behind whether al-Megrahi was really guilty or innocent of the crime of killing hundreds of innocent passengers on board Pan Am flight 103.

Many have claimed that al-Megrahi was innocent of this crime, and possibly he was "framed" and convicted merely to appease the political need to find a culprit? Why was one of the conditions for al-Megrahi's release that he drop his outstanding appeal against conviction?

Hopefully the real truth will finally come out and we will discover the mess that surrounds the death of all those innocent people.

MI6, Astra, Gerald Reaveley James & the war in Iraq

MI6 and the Iraq War is a big topic. The following is a statement from Gerald Reaveley James, who, as the Chairman of Astra, was subjected to the usual pressures from MI6 and the Government's henchmen. Much of the real politics in the UK takes place behind closed doors, and it is not surprising that companies and individuals are sacrificed to the holy cow of some politician's dreams of power. Let us hope that revelations such as the following make those with doubts wake up to what is happening around us.

My experiences, the Scott Inquiry, the British Legal System

I am reminded of the very appropriate quote from Edmund Burke (1729-97) “It is necessary only for the good man to do nothing for evil to triumph.”

I am most grateful to Dr Badsha for inviting me and honoured to make this address at this Conference of the Environmental Law Centre.

The Astra case and my case reflect much that has been to the fore in recent years in not only scandals around arms companies like Astra, Matrix Churchill, Ordtec, Forgemasters, Walter Somers, Ferranti and other companies like Polly Peck, BCCI and Maxwell but also in the Scott Inquiry, the BSE Inquiry and the Lloyds of London affair and other scandals. The underlying problem is secret unaccountable government which bypasses Parliament and how the law is administered in the UK, gives aid and succour to such a state of affairs. The most common device is the concealment of evidence and manipulation of cases. There is a tendency when challenged for those in authority to talk of conspiracy theories. My experience is that those who do so are usually part of the conspiracy.

My company Astra gave rise to much of the circumstances which created the Scott Inquiry, the Supergun revelations (we reported it first), the Aitken affair, the murder of Gerald Bull in Brussels in March 1990 and much else.

Background note:

My name is Gerald Reaveley James. Until March 1990 and between 1980 and 1990 I was chairman of Astra Holdings PLC (“Astra”) which became a leading ammunition and weapons manufacturer. By the late 1980’s Astra had factories in the United States (9), Canada (2), Belgium (5), United Kingdom (5) and administrative headquarters in Washington Dc, Brussels and London and employed 4,000 personnel. The story of Astra is too long to recount here but a summary is contained in my book, “In the Public Interest” published by Little Brown UK hardback 1995, Warner paperback 1996, London. Astra became involved in covert weapons and ammunitions operations organised by MI5 and MI6 and the CIA, the MOD, DOD, FCO and the State Department and the DTI. To such an extent was Astra involved with its pricipal subsidiaries, Walters, Accudyne, Kilgore USA PRB Belgium, BMARC UK; in the covert trade manipulations of Foreign Policy. In 1989/90, following a reappraisal of Foreign Policy in the light of the demise of the Cold War and changing circumstances in the Middle East, where it became apparent the US, UK and EEC had transferred Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical weapons technology as well as conventional weapons to countries like Iran and Iraq, and the discovery Pakistan had the atomic bomb, the whole covert network was reorganised. This involved the collapsing of companies like Astra, Ferranti/ISC, Polly Peck, BCCI, Maxwell Group etc and the prosecution of lesser fry Companies and their directors – companies like Matrix Churchill, BNJ, Ordtec, Euromac, SRC, Forgemasters, Walter Somers are examples. The directors of Astra were to a large extent ignorant of the full range of covert activities carried out in their name but aware of some of these activities and the likely destination of their goods. As however all operations were sanctioned by the DTI, MOD, FCO, and in the US by the DOD and the State Department and in Belgium by the Belgian Government, not too many questions were raised initially. However, in late 1988 and 1989 it became clear to me as Chairmen that the clandestine operations far exceeded anything remotely sanctioned by the full Board and I set out to investigate in depth. I became aware that certain plants were used to secretly store and ship goods; that monies were being transferred to other operations without book records or board approval in secret commission payments; that our paper work and parallel bank accounts were being used to process arms shipments from major UK defence companies like British Aerospace, Royal Ordnance, GEC Marconi, Thorn EMI etc. A leading British Defence Journalist wrote a report which was largely kept secret which indicated £100m was stolen from the Export Credit Guarantee Department (“ECGD”) in a fictitious subcontract for propellant which BMARC, an Astra subsidiary, had secretly obtained in 1998 from Royal Ordnance.

I also became concerned about payments to and business with MI6/CIA front company Allivane which had occurred between 1983 and 1988 via Astra. Is also became clear that all our main operations were involved in covert operations in the USA Belgium and the UK, and that Astra, when it acquired these companies, had inherited a hard core of MI6, MI5, DIA agents who operated behind the back of the original directors and who treated them as “useful idiots”. All our main companies were involved with Space Research Corporation (“SRC”) and the late Dr Gerald Bull who was behind the Supergun and other secret projects which Astra companies were also involved in. In 1989 I realised we had a hugely dangerous individual on our main Board and the BMARC Board who was an MI6 agent. This individual, Stepahnus Adolphus Kock had high level political connections to Thatcher, Hesletine, Younger, Hanley, etc as well as MI5 and MI6 connections. It is now clear to me that he was involved in the murder of Dr Gerald Bull in Brussels on 22^nd march 1990 and Jonathan Moyle in Santiago, Chile on 31^st March 1990. BMARC was the only company outside the Atomic Weapons research Establishment and Government Arms depots with the capability to store nuclear bombs like Redbeard and WE177.

By early 1990 my probing had become a major problem and a plot was hatched to remove me as Chairman shortly before the Supergun and other revelations and Bull’s murder. A new dummy board ld in reality by Kock with two MI6/MI5 stooges ran the company into the ground over the next two years. In order to explain away the destruction of the company with a £350m order book and a market capitalisation of £120m desperate attempts were made to find evidence of malpractice by the original directors. Gumbley, my Managing Director, who had been with Bull until an hour before he was shot had discussed with Bull suing UK Government and senior civil servants using Bull’s extensive knowledge of high level corruption and illegal operations. It had been agreed I would return with Gumbley to agree with lawyers how to proceed a week later. I had discussed such matters with Bull some six months previous but no further action had been taken. Gumbley was immediately framed up for corrupting an MOD official and jailed for 9 months and after desperately trying to find something on me and failing, Kock and MI6/MI5 decided to institute through Peter Lilley and the DTI a DTI Inquiry. Lilley was Secretary of state at the DTI at the time.

The DTI Inquiry lasted three years and cost £2.5m plus (as much as the Scott Inquiry). The announcement of the Inquiry and the misleading press statements issued by the DTI and Government ensured the downfall of Astra. Crooks and MI5, MI6, agents or informers were put in chare of Astra – Kock, Roy Barber FCA and Tony McCann. Barber and McCann whose managerial and industrial competence and experience were negligible paid themselves £330,000 and £280,000 pa respectively. Barber took £100,000 in the first month. Barber’s annual payment was more than I received in salary and expenses as Chairman over ten years while I built the company. PRB was sold off immediately for £3m to avoid embarrassing revelations. MI5, MI6 and MOD police and Customs launched 17 raids on Astra premises in order to steal any sales and other documentation incriminating Government. No new orders were obtained in spite of the Gulf War and the company ran on the £350m order book we had left for two years, before it was put into receivership on 2^nd February 1992 on the eve of me giving evidence to the House of Commons Trade and Industry Select Committee re Supergun, Project Babylon and arms to Iraq (and Iran etc). Press coverage was hue and adverse. This facilitated, as clearly city interests like Banks and Astra’s main shareholders 3i, Prudential and Clerical and medical cooperated with Government for their own interest and purposes against the interests of smaller shareholders ( a parallel with Lloyds techniques). Kock had a cover as a consultant in Midland Bank’s secret arms department, Midland and Industrial Trade Services (”MITS”). This was staffed by ex service officers, MI5, MI6, agents and intelligence affiliated bankers. Midland with the Bank of Boston were Astra’s main bankers and dominated by MI6 CIA agents. Kock was also said to be head of Group 13, the Government’s assassination and dirty tricks squad according to Richard John Rainey Unwin, a close associate of Knock himself who was a contract MI6 agent and Consultant to Astra. Kock and Unwin, with Martin Laing Construction, negotiated the £2bn Malaysian defence deal before George Younger, the Defence Secretary even knew of it.

The MOD police arrested several of my colleagues, framed Grumbley up. I was subjected to harassment, burglaries; I was arrested by Customs, investigated by the Inland Revenue, subjected to surveillance, threats, bugging, telephone tapping (all documented), a DTI Inquiry which lasted 3 years and a DTI prosecution which lasted 4 years. In addition I had to give copious evidence to the Scott Inquiry over 4 years, 2 DTI Select Committees, Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Defence Select Committee, Public Accounts Select Committee, Public Services Select committee, Police (SOI), a huge law suit in the United States (Dooley case). My family suffered considerably, my two eldest sons army careers suffered, my youngest son’s education because of adverse publicity, my brother was killed in an accident never satisfactory explained which could have been intended for me.

In the course of my own experiences I took considerable note and interest in parallel cases like Matrix Churchill, Ordtec, Euromac, Atlantic Commercial, BNJ, SRC, Forgemasters, Walter Somers, Polly Peck, Foxley Ferranti/ISC, BCCI, Maxwell etc. All these cases and others and the Astra case involved the gross abuse of power by Government and its agencies and servants, concealment of key evidence, intimidation, threats, false and selective prosecutions, manipulation of evidence, perversion of the course of justice. It has also been clearly demonstrated that there is no separation of powers within the United Kingdom. Key legal appointments like Lord Chancellor and attorney General, Solicitor General are wholly political. It has also been clearly demonstrated that Parliament has no control of knowledge of events and that a vast apparatus of permanent unelected Government exists. This permanent Government consists of senior civil servants, intelligence and security officers, key figures in certain city and financial institutions (including Lloyds of London), key industrialists and directors of major monopolistic companies, senior politicians. The Lord Chancellors Office which is responsible for the appointment of Judges, Clerks of the House of Commons select Committees and approval of Chairmen of such committees and the approval of the Queen’s Counsel, holds a total control of the legal administrative framework and has strong connections to the security and intelligence services. The last Clerk to the Crown in Chancery was Sir Thomas Legg, KCB QC who had strong links to the intelligence and security establishment and who was responsible for allocating Judges to controversial trials of a political nature where the “national interest” and “national security” (those much abused phrases) were involved, ie the Ponting Case. Legg’s successor will have a similar role. Sir Thomas was duly wheeled out to keep the lid on the Sandline Inquiry re the strange events surrounding the FCO, Sierra Leone and real foreign policy as opposed to the sham variety discussed at Westminster. He has been wheeled out again to keep the lid on an inquiry regarding the corruption in the hugely expensive building of new MP’s offices opposite Big Ben. The companies involved in this case are Alvis, formerly United Scientific Holdings and its Germany partner in the installation of a £35m contract for copper cladding. United Scientific Holdings is the company where ex Chief of defence Procurement and ex Lord Mayor Sir Peter, now Lord Levene was Managing director (later a Director of N.M. Rothschild) was Chairman. An American competitor alleges irregularities and corruption as it offered to do the work for a much lower price.

The real framework which secretly controls our lives is little understood or studies even by those who work within its musty and murky depths. It has only recently emerged that Appeal Court Judges are secretly briefed making appearances before such luminaries a sham and a joke. The public can thank Mr Geoffrey Scriven for these revelations. Lloyds names can hardly have realised that legislation was secretly framed to prevent wrong doers being sued. (Times Magazine Article 21/2/00).

The other area which is little understood is the Crown. To many the Crown represents the Royal family but we now have a Constitutional Monarchy. The Crown in its constitutional sense is the last home of secret government. Much is done in the name of the Crown which is without the permission or knowledge of the Monarch. Token gestures are made by sending her despatch boxes of “selected” information. The Crown is represented by the Monarch but does not represent the on secret and major issues. The armed forces (the last bastion of institutional integrity) swear their allegiance to the Monarch not to Parliament as do Judges and the Intelligence and security services – the latter are totally unaccountable as is the Lord Chancellors’ office which controls Courts and Judges. The Lord Chancellor is unelected as is the Attorney General who although chosen from the ranks of MPs is not elected, like the Solicitor General. The Attorney General holds sway over the Crown Prosecution service, serious Fraud Office, HM Customs (as revealed by the Scott Inquiry) and the Police in respect of sanctioning cases. The Law Officers, the Attorney General and the Solicitor General are the Chief Legal Advisors (assisted by the Solicitor General) has overall responsibility for the work of the Law Officer’s Departments:

Crown Prosecution Service

Serious Fraud Office

Legal Secretariat to the Law Officers

All the duties of the above departments (and HM Customs) are ultimately supervised by the Attorney General.

The Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland is also responsible to the Attorney General for the performance of his functions. There are also additional responsibilities with regard to civil and criminal law.

The other area which is key to overall secret control outside Parliament is the Privy Council. It is important to note that all main members of the Cabinet become members of the Privy Council as do leaders and sometimes the deputy leaders of the opposition parties.

The Privy Council oath which all members take means they cannot freely discuss any matter they are informed of or told of “Under Privy Council terms”. This means that the Cabinet and opposition leaders cannot discuss freely in Parliament or elsewhere any matter told to them on “Privy Council terms”. This means in practice that the key MPs cannot discharge their democratic duties. It is in effect a gagging system like Public Interest Immunity Certificates dispensed by Judges on application of Government and its agencies. All senior Judges and Appeal Judges are Privy Councillors as is the Lord Chancellor, The Attorney and Solicitor General and other invited and key persons. This secret unelected body has a wide range of powers. On the surface other permanent secretaries, sometimes the Cabinet Secretary and certain members of the established aristocracy are Privy Councillors. The appointment is for life and Jonathon Aitken is one of the few members to resign.

It should also be remembered Aitken was a Chairman of the Pinay Circle comprised of senior intelligence officers and world leaders who hold secret meeting around the world.

It is widely and erroneously assumed the Cabinet is the Executive of the elected Government whereas in our unwritten ill defined constitution it is in reality the executive arm of the Privy Council.

The Privy Council is responsible for the arrangements leading to the making of Royal Proclamations and Orders in Council for certain formalities connected with Ministerial Changes: for considering application for the grant or amendment of Royal Charters, for the security and approval of by laws and statutes of Chartered Institutions, of the governing instruments of universities and colleges, for the appointment of High Sheriffs and many Crown and Privy Council Nominees for governing bodies.

Under the relevant Acts, the office of the Privy Council is responsible for the approval of certain regulations and rules made by the governing bodies of the medical and certain allied professions.

The President of the Council has responsibility for the working of the Privy Council. A leader of the House of Commons he or she is responsible for supervising the Government’s legislative programme. He or she allegedly upholds the right and privileges of the House as a whole and in its capacity it falls to him or her to move motions relating to the procedure of the House. In January 1994 the Privy Council assumed responsibility for the newly formed Central Drugs Coordination Unit. The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is the highest Court of Appeal for the Commonwealth except the United Kingdom and those countries which had abolished appeals to it. It still can confirm death sentences in certain territories and in the UK hears ecclesiastical cases and appeals against disciplinary decisions by disciplinary bodies of the medical professions and certain allied bodies. Its more secret and sinister workings are little known and in theory it is the advisory body to the monarch. It appears that the bulk of elected politicians do not penetrate its inner recesses yet can be influenced by it.

The Privy Council allied with the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and the Cabinet and Cabinet Intelligence Unit which is the real control over the security and intelligence services are part of the secret permanent unaccountable Government.

We have seen from the arms to Iran, Iraq affairs, the Sandline affair and other scandals that politicians and Parliament have little or no control and are more like players in a pantomime put on for the general public and gullible public.

The roots of this sinister power are rooted in history, particularly that of the usurping Tudors. The Privy Council and secret services have developed since then and it is wrong to regard MI5 and MI6 as the sole such bodies. As Douglas Hurd told a Commons Select Committee regarding nuclear proliferation they are but two tributaries of the main stream of intelligence. The communication and eavesdropping unit GCHQ works extensively with the intelligence and security services and with those of other countries including the intelligence services and National Security Agency of USA and with the Services of Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Each regularly circumvents domestic laws for the benefit of the others under programmes like “echelon” and agreements between UK and USA. Politicians and civil servants and other leading figures who get out of line can be surveyed or bugged and then threatened, blackmailed, framed up or worse.

Secrecy breeds corruption, secrecy is power, information is power particularly confidential information. There is no accountability and the calibre of MP deteriorates with each Parliament. The young politician with no experience outside is naïve and powerless and many now have a blind loyalty to their party. Ironically the hereditary peers of the House of Lords provided one of the last vestiges of honesty and independence now largely destroyed by self-important and self-deluding figures like Blair and Baroness Jay.

This the background against which decisions affairs like Lloyds of London have been handled and decided.

Secrecy has breed corruption and lack of accountability. Judicial Inquiries are cosmetic and carried out by the Judiciary who are key tools of the “cover up” and the status quo. (ie the Scott Inquiry). London is a key world money laundering centre (£500 billion per annum). Damage to Lloyds’ credibility will damage London and its position as a money or financial centre.

Much of the Uk’s traditional industry is gone. To deal with Lloyds from the point of view of justice, will rock the boat and damage the so called national interest. Privileged persons in politics and the judiciary etc have been protected and the rest do not matter. The policy is to protect Lloyds and cover up. The same arrogant and self serving attitude was evident in the arms trade and the related drugs trade. Those on the inside are only interested in concealment, cover up, and their own on going benefits protected by secrecy and privilege. Justice does not count. The scandals involving political parties, large companies, the intelligence and security services, and corruption in Germany (Kohl), France (Mitterand/Dumas,etc) Italy (Craxi) are pale shadows of what has gone on in the UK. We have what the late Roberto Clavi of Banco Amnrosiano in Italy as described “potere occulto” –secret power.

Ironically the main threat to this secret power is the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) Article 6 which overturns Uk legal decisions regularly and has already caused the sacking of deputy Judges, and Magistrates in Scotland while threatening Scottish Judges. Scotland under devolution adopted ECHR in 1999 and England did so in October 2000, although the Lord Chief Justice (Bingham) already recommended as a result of the Kebbilen case that the ECHR should be recognised in England before this.

It is significant that the Home Secretary Shaw is proposing the abolition of juries and magistrates in many and perhaps eventually all cases. This will put further power in the hands of secret and unaccountable Government and corrupt Judges. The ramifications are extremely sinister and serious. Already the rules of evidence have been perverted in favour of secret an unaccountable Government who routinely conceal evidence and pervert the course of justice.

It has never been more vital for people to challenge the views of politicians and opinion formers. We live in an age where much if not most of the media is controlled. The legal mechanism and Judges and the court system need to be beyond reproach. Sadly they are not and the chronicle of abuse and manipulation of cases is appalling. Judges are not independent in most government related cases and are no different to salaried and pensioned civil servants. The independence of the Judiciary is an allusion fostered by the Judiciary. Too often a Judicial Inquiry is a system for cover up and concealment. Too often the courts are influenced by political considerations as in the Scott Inquiry and the recent Lloyds of London case. Perhaps with pressure this can be changed.

We do not want a society dominated by lawyers, accountants and monopoly commercial Interests with the courts administered by Judges who follow directions.

Gary Summers should watch the most recent interview with Dr Sarah Myhill, to realise that he is being used by the GMC on behalf of dark forces that want to turn us back to the Middle Ages, and a style of medicine practised by witch doctors in Africa.

What is wrong with these people? What organisation is paying a barrister like Gary Summers to attack doctors who are trying to help those who need a cure for their ailments? The law has no place in this case. Dr Myhill should be left to get on with what she does best - helping her patients to become well.
