Have you ever wondered which eyeglass frames are better: plastic or metal? Which type of eyeglass frame lasts longer, which type seems to hold up better against wear and tear. Do metal eyeglass frames look better than plastic? Are plastic eyeglass frames heavier and less comfortable compared to metals ones? I’ll point out a few of the advantages and disadvantages to both and then let you decide on which type of eyeglasses you think is better.

Plastic Eyeglass Frames

Generally they can be subjected to more abuse without breaking. Plastic frames are typically more durable and tend to last longer than metal frames. The make for an excellent choice if you are going for that retro and trendy or alternative look.

Some disadvantages are that plastic frames can be hard to adjust to your face. If the frame doesn’t fit you very well “as is” then there is a good chance that the frames will always cause you problems with fitting on your face incorrectly, especially around the nose. Also, some plastic frames can be a little heavier compared to metal ones.

Metal Eyeglass Frames

Metal eyeglass frames tend to be a little lighter in weight. Also they tend to blend in with your face, giving them an almost invisible appearance. There is a larger selection of sizes, shapes and colors and metal frames come in high quality metals such as titanimum for added durability.

Some of the disadvantages with metal eyeglass frames include being able to break easily. Some metal frames have weak solder points and can break easily. Many metal frames actually cost more than plastic frames. Another disadvantage of having a metal eyeglass frame is that the screws can sometimes work their way loose.

All in all, I think it all depends on personal preference. While metal eyeglass frames have some advantages over plasic frames, the opposite is true with plastic frames compared to metal ones. My advice for you when the time comes to choose an eyeglass frame for your face is to consider all the advantages and disadvantages, but also to consider things such as comfort, style, and price.

Are you looking for the best deals on contact lenses? There are some many places to shop online for contact lenses, it can really be almost overwhelming. So really, the element you are concerned with is price and customer service.

Are you looking for the best deals on Harley Davidson safety glasses? This particular brand of safety eyeglasses are increasing in popularity. Does this come to any surprise? Think about it for a second. Folks that need safety glasses typically work in industry. Those that work in industry typically like Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Well, for whatever the reason may be, indeed, Harley Davidson safety glasses are very popular and there is a pretty big demand for them. Upon discovering this, I decided to go on a hunt and try to find a site that offers the best deals on them. Here is what I found.

I ran across a web site today that provides quite a bit of information about the new Lasik surgery. The web site is called, New Lasik and it provides readers with a lot of useful information such as the common costs of Lasik surgery, information about different Lasik eye institutes and even information about Lasik financing available.

On New Lasik, you can do quite a bit. For one, you can automatically search the web for related content that will help you gain a better understanding of Lasik. Secondly, you can watch online videos of people who have had Lasik in the past and learn about their own experience.

Additionally on New Lasik, you can see what other bloggers are writing about the procedures and you can even snoop around on Twitter and Facebook to catch the current buzz about Lasik eye surgery.

One of the greatest things about the site is that it provides visitors with a very broad range of tools that allows for people to fully learn more about Lasik by reading real opinions and experiences by common and every day people within the social networks.

One of the things that bother me regarding medical research on the Internet is the fact that it is very difficut to attain unbiased information. Many web sites that provide information about Lasik eye surgery have some form of incentive behind it. With the New Lasik site, you get infromation, opinions and stories direct from the consumer. To me, that is priceless.

If you have an interest in getting Lasik eye surgery performed, you might consider checking out the New Lasik web site, it proves to be a great source for learning everything there is about the procedure.

Rimless design eyeglasses are very popular because they are very stylish, trendy and have a certain elegance about them. With that said, not all eyeglass prescriptions can been filled into a rimless frame. Now, before we get into the bulk of this post, I want to clarify something about rimless frames.

Commonly, when people refer to rimless frames, they are actually semi-rimless frames. These are frames that have no rim on the bottom and sides but have a rim on the top. The bottom and sides of the lens are held securely in place with high gauge nylon string. This string is actually no different than common fishing line. In fact many optical shops use either 15 LBS to 20 LBS fishing line on most semi-rimless repair jobs.

A full rimless frame is commonly called a drill-mount pair of eyeglasses. A full rimless eyeglass frame has absolutely no frame. The lenses are secured to the temple and bridge with very small glass screws and hardware. Semi-rimless eyeglass frames are more common because they are a lot less in cost and most optical shops can fabricate the eyeglasses in their own lab. Most places have to outsource a full rimless (drill-mount) order.

Having that explained, lets talk about if you can fill your prescription into a semi-rimless or full rimless eyeglass frame. As a general rule of thumb, if you are far-sighted it is not a good idea to order a pair of semi-rimless or full rimless eyeglasses. If you are near-sighted, it is ok. The reason why is in the thickness of the lens. With lenses that correct for far-sightedness, the center of the lens is thick while the edges are thin.

In order to fill a far-sighted prescription into a semi-rimless or full rimless, the lab actually has to make the lenses thicker than normal so that the edge of the lens has a minimum edge thickness to accommodate the groove added into the lens that will be used to hold the lens in place with the nylon string. With lenses that correct for near-sightedness, the lenses are naturally thin in the center and thicker on the edges.

Are you looking for the best Gucci Eyeglasses deals? I speak from experience, these eyeglass frames are built to last. For many years I manufactured eyeglasses and one of the places that I worked was at Pearle Vision. At the time, Gucci eyewear was commonly sold at Pearle Vision. Of course that was many years ago, so today, you can find Gucci Eyeglass frames being sold at many places.

In this post, I want to share with you a few places where you can get the best Gucci Eyeglasses deals online. The first site that I would check out is a place called, Suns R Us. They offer many brands of eyeglass frames, one of which is Gucci Eyeglasses.

The next site that seems to carry some killer deals on eyeglass frames including Gucci is a place called Shopping.com. Doing a simple search for Gucci Eyeglasses deals on their site reveals quite a few listings. In fact, there are well over 50 different listings for Gucci Eyeglasses on Shopping.com, I would for sure check that out if you are interested in this brand of eyeglass frame.

All in all, if you are looking for a very high quality pair of eyeglass frames, I would consider Gucci. They are very well built and strong. This is coming from a person who manufactured eyeglasses for a long time. Gucci Eyewear has more styles available for ladies; however, there are quite a few available for men as well. With that said though, I totally don’t like the styles that Gucci create for men.

With that said, you also might want to consider Perry Ellis. These are also a very good brand of eyeglasses; however, they also too have a huge price. Gucci is a nice balanced brand of frame typically with a nice balanced price.

Are you looking for the best deals on prescription sunglasses? There’s a lot of mystery to prescription sunglasses that should be uncovered. The first item to talk about is cost. Why is it that some prescription sunglasses cost hundreds of dollars while other over the counter non prescription sunglasses only cost a few dollars?

You know this all too well at times when you compliment a friends sunglasses and then he tells you that they only cost him five dollars at the gas station. You then end up feeling a little silly, knowing that you paid a few hundred for yours. That is ok though, and I will tell you why.

Gas station sunglasses are nothing compared to high quality sunglasses that you can have made to order or sold at places such as SunGlass Hut or Lenscrafters. What you are paying for is superior quality and amazing optics.

The first thing to understand is that having these high quality options in your sunglasses, this will indeed come at a price. Having recognized that, you can then start a hunt for finding the best prescription sunglasses deals.

The way to find the best deals on prescription sunglasses is pretty simple. There are only a handful of major optical retail chains: Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, etc. Frequently, these eyeglass stores offer various sales and coupons.

Many of these eyeglasses sales that they offer involve a Buy One Get One Free, or a Buy One Get One Half Off. Sometimes eyeglass stores run deals like $50 dollars off, or even $100 dollars off. I have seen some eyeglass shops run specials that allow you to get a pair of sunglasses free with the purchase of a regular pair of eyeglasses.

So really, the key to this is first recognizing that having a pair of high quality prescription sunglasses indeed will cost you a little bit of money. Great things in life simply don’t come cheap. With that, be sensible and seek out who can provide you with the best deal. Spring and Winter is the best time to seek out prescription sunglasses as most eyeglass stores offer and promote the best deals during this time.

There comes a time when people need bifocals. That is perfectly normal. As we get older our crystalline lens loses its ability to flex which gives us the ability to focus from distance to near. Simply put, the crystalline lens is similar to a camera lens and as we get older this lens get stuck, thus giving you only the ability to see far away.

The solution is bifocals! Today, bifocals come in a huge variety of choices but can be broken down into two classifications: line style bifocals (the flat top bifocal) and no line style bifocals (progressive). In either case, you may be wondering if bifocal lenses are a good choice for computer users.

The answer is no. Bifocals do not make for a good choice for computer users. The reason is fairly simple. With bifocal lenses, the added strength needed to see up close is applied to the bottom of the lens. In order to see up close you have to drop your eyes down so that you can view through the area of the lenses that give you the prescribed magnification to correctly focus up close.

In order to see the computer screen in focus, you have to tilt your head back in a very uncomfortable position. While this works, it can cause neck and back pain and even cause minor headaches.

A better solution would be to have a pair of eyeglasses ordered specifically for using the computer. Once your eye doctor writes a prescription, he can do some basic math and custom write an additional prescription that you can have filled that will allow you to see your computer screen perfectly.

With that said, when you wear your computer glasses, the computer screen will be the only thing that you are able to focus clearly on. If you look up over your computer and gaze on something further away, it will be very likely that the object you are trying to focus on will be blurry. That is the only trade off towards having computer eyeglasses.

There is an option where a bifocal lens can be used for computer eyeglasses. Depending on how much magnification you need to see up close, you may find that you need a magnification to see the computer screen and even MORE magnification to read the objects up close, such as a newspaper.

In this situation, the eye doctor can help you by writing a prescription for a bifocal lens that will correct your intermediate vision and near vision. Basically the top part of the eyeglass lenses will allow you to see your computer screen while the bottom part of your lenses will have even more magnification to help you see up close.

All in all, a traditional bifocal prescription will not work for computer users. The reason as mentioned above is that by default, eye doctors write prescriptions that correct for true distance vision and true near vision and nothing in between. If you are interested in having a pair of computer eyeglasses made, you need to let your eye doctor know so that he can write a prescription to match your needs.
