Create Targeted Leads

Read this if you have your autoresponder set up. Until you set up your autoresponder, this lesson won't do you a great deal of good because we are going to have you convert viral-list-builder emails into targeted leads.

The first thing you will need to do is set up a lead generation page with an exchange popup. Check out mine and copy the design if you like. Some people bust on my lead generation page, saying that it's ugly and whatnot. Honestly, I just have to laugh because I know it works.

The key is content and psychological design, not beauty. Unless you are selling art or something similar, pictures don't sell. Words sell.

Take a look at my page and notice the features below:

1. The AdSense ads at the top get lots of clicks and profits.

2. The headlines at the top are straight, simple, and to the point. There's no sense in beating around the bush. All you are asking for is a subscription. The sales will come later.

3. People are in a hurry. They generally are either interested in your basic offer or not. Don't waste five minutes of people's time just to get them to subscribe. Again, we aren't talking about a sales letter here. This is just a simple page to get people to subscribe for more info.

4. The subscribe box is near the top. Why? Some techniques use only semi-targeted traffic. The kinds of semi-targeted traffic you will find is simply not going to scroll down.

That's why everything should be at the top. Not to beat a dead horse, but the goal here is to get people's attention very quickly and force them into a decision. Making them scroll down just to subscribe to a free ezine can cause you to lose subscribers.

Goals Of The Page

There are two main goals of a lead generation page like this:

1. Get clicks at the top.
2. Get subscriptions.

If you get clicks at the top, that's immediate profit. If you get a subscription, then you will probably get profits later. Finally, if you get a little lucky, you can get both from one visitor. Either way, there are two main options for a visitor, and either one is likely to help you profit.

Once you get your page set up, then my first recommendation is to go here and follow the instructions to set yourself up with some easy targeted leads.

Please pay attention to the instructions. They are vital to your success.

That brings me to the close of this particular lesson, but let me say this straight up, and I have no choice but to blunt about it. The average person is TERRIBLE at following instructions. You MUST follow my instructions exactly if you expect to get leads.

I think it unnecessary to give every reason for every step. Just know that you need to follow every step. Otherwise, you are liable to mess things up. If I gave you instructions to get to the court house, you wouldn't go in the opposite direction. But, for some strange reason, I see people constantly trying to skip steps when they are online.

Don't skip steps unless you want to mess things up. You are duly warned.

Starting your Lead Management System

In this post, I'm going to show you how to get started building up your list of targeted leads.

The following paragraphs are for newbies, so just skip them if you already use autoresponders.

An autoresponder is like an automatic email marketing machine. If you joined my list from my lead generation page, then you were automatically placed into my autoresponder. Autoresponders are pre-programmed to send out messages at pre-set intervals. The main benefit with these beauties is that you don't have to spend time mailing out to everyone on an individual basis. They save loads of time.

I have a lesson here on how to get started with an autoresponder. You can start out with a free, limited autoresponder or a full-service unlimited account free for 30 days to test it out. Either way, once I show you how to get targeted leads, you will want to upgrade, but no rush.

Autoresponder + Traffic = Automatic Lead Management

Once you load up your ads into your autoresponder and start sending traffic to your lead generation page, it's all on smooth automatic pilot. Don't worry. If you read through the subsequent posts, I will show you how to get gobs of traffic and convert that traffic to targeted leads.

Targeted V Generic Leads

This first lesson is designed to explain the difference between high-quality and low-quality leads.

For starters, there are two basic kinds of leads I will be talking about:

1. Targeted leads
2. Generic Leads

The best leads are targeted leads, and by that I mean those who actually respond to your own advertising or promotions.

An example of this are the leads I get through my lead generation page. Notice how this page has a simple 3-line ad at the top. These are the high-quality leads I am talking about. When someone subscribes after your reading your own ad, that's a targeted lead.

These are the leads you need to search out for your lead list, and I will show you how to find them in later lessons.

But, what are generic leads?

These are basically lists that you buy. It is HIGHLY unadvisable to buy lists, especially email lists. Buying an email list is essentially worthless, and the reason is pretty clear. These people on these lists may well have subscribed to some generic list somewhere, but they don't know you from a hole in the ground.

When these bought generic or even semi-targeted people receive your emails, they tend to quickly unsubscribe. I have never heard of a reliable and credible success story from buying lists. Again, they never saw your ad, so they aren't targeted and may have no interest at all in your offers.

Simply put, generic leads are those that directly or indirectly subscribe without actually reading your ad. Hence, they are very low in quality, and worse than that is that people sell these leads.

Review:

Targeted Lead:
1. Person reads your ad on a webpage, in an email, etc.
2. Person subscribes to your list after reading your ad.

Generic Lead:
1. Person signs up to something, usually passively agreeing to receive email from others.
2. Person never even sees your ad.
3. Person is usually confused when they receive your emails because they don't remember opting in to receive such information.

Needless to say, your best results are going to come from the targeted leads that actually are joining your list because they want to after reading your ad or promotion.

In my next post, I will show you how to start setting up a system so you can start getting some of these targeted leads. I will gradually lay out a plan to show you how to start building your own list with targeted leads.
