Hello Tom! I hope you read this!
I can honestly say I am relieved after having read your article. But I still have a query.
You see, I am 16 years old going on 17 in July. I have had 2 shark teeth [canines] behind the baby canines for about 2 years now. I visited a dentist & she said she'd remove the baby teeth & I may have to wear braces to allow the permanent teeth to align properly [*CRINGE*]. I went for a second opinion & she said I'd have to remove my permanent teeth because my baby teeth were very firmly rooted & that many people had baby teeth for the rest of their lives! I am extremely confused & hope you will be able to resolve this. Thank you for such an informative article :)
Also, will the procedure of removing the baby teeth & allowing space for the permanent teeth be painful? & how long? :(

I am going to start the invisaline treatment and the Ortho wants me to get it done before we get my trays in. I am in my late 20's and when I look at my mouth I don't feel like I need it done but he is saying I HAVE to.I feel like its not necessary. My sons I could see him having to get it done as his runs down in between his teeth but mine is up high.

Except for the two posters above me. Lets hope Ron Paul gets this issue resolved.

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=22749

BONNER COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE

RESOLUTION URGING THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANDPOINT, IDAHO, TO CEASE FLUORIDATION OF CITY WATER

WHEREAS the international Basel Convention (of which the United States is signatory), Environment Canada and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) all state that the chemicals used in artificial water fluoridation are hazardous waste which may not be put directly into lakes, rivers and oceans and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has never approved the ingestion of fluoride; and

WHEREAS artificial water fluoridation chemicals contain between 20% to 30% hydrofluorosilicic acid (inorganic fluoride), trace amounts of arsenic, lead, mercury, radionuclides and other heavy metals, all considered to be toxic substances in the U.S. under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act ( CERCLA) Priority List of Hazardous Substances (1988); and

WHEREAS fluoride is not removed in sewage treatment and remains a toxic constituent of the effluent discharged by treatment plants into rivers and lakes; and

WHEREAS the USEPA Headquarters Union and scientists, physicians, dentists and researchers world-wide state that artificial water fluoridation is not effective in the prevention of cavities and is not safe to vulnerable populations, as demonstrated in the U.S. National Research Council 2006 Review; and

WHEREAS there is a wide range of health vulnerabilities in the Sandpoint population and a wide range of consumption patterns for fluoridated water in beverages and foods made with artificially fluoridated water, which means that individuals' daily doses of fluoride chemicals from drinking water cannot be controlled; and

WHEREAS the European Court of Justice ruled June 5, 2005, that artificially fluoridated water must be treated as a medicine and cannot be used in commercial food or beverage preparation; and

WHEREAS exposing infants, children and adults to unregulated doses of medications without prescriptions or their informed consent is both irresponsible and unethical; and

WHEREAS the Mayor and City Council have been respectfully and publicly presented with, yet have officially ignored, documents and documentaries showing conclusively that water fluoridation is medically unethical, diminishes rather than improves public health and is harmful to the environment; and

WHEREAS over 900 Sandpoint residents have signed a petition expressing strong opposition to the forced and unethical "medication" of their city water; and

WHEREAS the city of Sandpoint has been fluoridating its water in the absence of informed public consent since 1952 and, since 2004, 147 communities in the U.S. have discontinued artificial water fluoridation and;

WHEREAS the Idaho Attorney General recently opined that artificial water fluoridation is a controversial issue most appropriately resolved politically within an affected Idaho community.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Bonner County Republican Central Committee urges and petitions the Sandpoint City Council members to make an immediate motion to repeal Ordinance 1034, the fluoridation of city water, and call for a recorded vote of the individual council members.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Secretary of the Bonner County Republican Central Committee be hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Sandpoint Mayor and City Council members, members of this central committee and the media.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED

You're right about the white and dark green (but not light) but seriously (no offense intended whatsoever in this comment) I mean doesn't silver and gray just take all of the fun out of braces??? It might be less noticeable but almost everyone goes through braces and getting colors that blend it's just no fun (this is for teens who might be reading this, I don't think there's anything wrong with having bright colors)

Hey I'm a teen and I always get two colors for every other. I think it's fun to show your "true-colors" (lol pun) but really it's just a way to express your self kinda like earrings. I think it's fun to get spunky colors like extreme green and plum purple together because despite what others say I really like it, and I think it's what's fun about braces!

HI Nancy,
Don't worry about it. The same thing happened to me, the wire came out of the braces and my dentist wasnt availible for a week as well. It hurt your gums a bit but just suck on ice or eat ice cream and the pain will go.
Hope everything goes well for you!

Hi Karrie - sorry - I just saw your comment. How did it go at the dentist? I would love to know. If we had had a dentist in our area that has extensive experience with handling lingual and labial tie corrections on infants using a laser, I would have corrected my daughter's labial frenum tie (upper lip) as early as possible. The midwife clipped her tongue tie at 1 day old (with scissors, no blood and not so much as a peep from baby), and it helped with breastfeeding, but I think her labial tie, which is severe, also impeded her latch. Now that her teeth are in (with a huge gap), we have to be very careful to brush her front teeth well because material and plaque seem to gather there very easily.

From what I understand, the use of lasers to fix these issues is very quick and results in very little pain. I think it's not more commonly recommended because most pediatric dentists don't have the experience in using lasers. I honestly don't get what the downside is, and why "the books" don't advise correction early on, especially when labial and lingual ties can impair breastfeeding (I've heard this from so many moms). Anyway - I hope it all worked out for you and your son.

I have had pain in my left lower and upper jaw for about 4 years now. This includes soreness and a burning sensation in my tongue also around the lingual nerve. My teeth on the upper left are affected. I have very few teeth left in the lower jaw as a stream of dentists have filled and removed them over the years, including an impacted and infected molar which was removed by a surgeon. I also have post nasal congestion problems with thick brown mucuous. This is worse between October and March (I live near the forest and have been told that it could be a fungas allergy.)I also have a painful lump at the top of my neck on the left side which a doctor and osteopath put down to muscle problem. I have had numerous xrays including an MRI scan. I was referred to pain specialist and put onto large doses of pain medication. I had no idea and no one has suggested to me that it could be related to sinus infection, but I do know that when I have taken anti-biotics it does calm down my symptoms. Do you think it is worth pursuing this line of enquiry further and if so with the doctor or dentist?

thanks

Well I wanted to know if a frenectomy is painful after the surgery. I saw many videos done and I'm very frightened. I am getting invisalign so I figured if my teeth were to go back to the position they were in I could just go through it again. Please get back to me ASAP

I recently had a crown come loose and found that the tooth is definitely decayed and will have to be extracted. I am torn between having a bridge or tooth implant. The surrounding teeth are also crowns so I would be losing these fairly new crowns too by having a bridge. I am very concerned about bone loss and as I am middle aged, also concerned about the surgery for the implant if I go with that choice.
