The following information was released by Michelle Steel for Supervisor 2014, ID# 1352511.

Michelle Steel’s campaign for County Supervisor continued to gather momentum today, with the announcement that she has been endorsed by Republican Congressmen Dana Rohrabacher and Ed Royce.

Michelle Steel is the Vice Chair of the California State Board of Equalization, where she has represented Orange County for the past six years. She is running for Supervisor in the 2nd district.

“I have known Michelle all my life,” said Rep. Rohrabacher. “She is honest, a hard worker and a patriot.”

“Michelle Steel is a champion for Orange County taxpayers on the BOE and I am confident she will continue her strong advocacy for taxpayers and small business owners as a County Supervisor,” said Rep. Royce.

Both Congressmen made a guest appearance at Michelle Steel’s fundraiser, hosted by OC Republican Party Chairman Scott Baugh, which brought her campaign for Supervisor to over $460,000 in the bank with another $40,000 in pledges.

“It is an honor to have the support of Representatives Rohrabacher and Royce and to know that they have faith in my ability to represent the taxpayers of the 2nd district,” said Steel.

The following information was released by Rossmoor – Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated.

Daughters of the Shepherd, also known as DOTS, will provide the entertainment at the Saturday, June 1, Friendship & Flowers Scholarship Luncheon of the Rossmoor – Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated. Held at El Dorado Golf Course in Long Beach, the luncheon celebrates education by providing scholarships to two local high school seniors:

Jennifer Wong – Cypress High School

Taylor Jalen Fagins – Los Alamitos High School

DOTS is an auditioned performing song/dance group featuring home-schooled girls ages 7 to 17 who live in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Their patriotic program selections feature traditional American music. Formed in 1999, DOTS has performed at Disneyland and Orange County Fair in addition to performances at numerous local and regional events.

As DOTS exemplifies, home-school students are not socially isolated. They have access to a wide variety of social networking activities similar to their public schooled counterparts.

Home schooling continues to increase, especially as parents express concern about the quality and focus of public schools curriculum. According to the National Home Education Research Institute, it is estimated that more than two million children in the U.S. are being home schooled, a 75 percent increase since 1999.

While the scholarship luncheon is hosted by the Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated, everyone from the community who believes in the value of a college education is encouraged to attend and support scholarships for local students.

“Join us as we celebrate and applaud local seniors Jennifer Wong and Taylor Jalen Fagins at the Friendship & Flowers Scholarship Luncheon,” said club president Margene Walz adding, “The entertainment by DOTS will make it a truly memorable afternoon for members and guests.”

Tickets are $30 each and include:

Lunch

Scholarship award ceremony

Raffle prizes

Entertainment by the DOTS Singers

Knowledge that proceeds go to help local seniors with their college costs

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, May 29.

El Dorado Golf Course is located at 2400 Studebaker Road in Long Beach.

To make reservations to attend the luncheon, email Chris Barnes at chris.barnes4727@gmail.com or call 562-865-3258.

The following information was released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The Orange County DUI Task Force is deploying officers this holiday weekend at DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols countywide to arrest impaired drivers and to keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs.

Memorial Day signals the start of the summer season with college and high school graduations. Unfortunately, it also means a predictable rise in drunk or drugged driving crashes when reckless drivers take to the roadways impaired. Friends and families will gather for celebrations, often with alcohol, this holiday weekend. Law enforcement is reminding everyone to make plans now for any weekend trips and partying. Make sure to use a ‘designated sober driver’ to prevent arrest or worse, a deadly driving tragedy.

Law enforcement throughout the region, beginning Friday evening, May 24, will deploy DUI/Driver’s License checkpoints in the cities of Placentia, Cypress, Buena Park and Rancho Santa Margarita. Special DUI Saturation Patrols will be deploying in the cities of Anaheim, Brea, Placentia, Fullerton, Irvine, La Palma, Laguna Beach and also in the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s contract cities. More local DUI Saturation Patrols will be out on Saturday and Sunday nights in cities throughout the county. The California Highway Patrol is deploying all available officers Memorial Day weekend onto freeways and county roads as part of their maximum enforcement period.

Law enforcement county-wide is asking for everyone’s support this holiday weekend and all summer long by following these simple and easy tips:

Plan ahead. Arrange rides home for your friends, family, co-workers and yourself before the drinking begins.

Those hosting celebrations and servers must limit drinks to your guests or patrons. Don’t serve more than one or two drinks over several hours.

Cut back on the amount of drinks you plan to bring to the party – and provide plenty of food.

If you see a drunk driver, call 9-1-1.

Funding for the DUI Task Force is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Task Force will deploy checkpoints and DUI patrols next during the Independence Day Holiday and during the August/Labor Day DUI campaign.
