(btw, Uhaul has this great program on boxes. If you buy boxes from them, and you have boxes left over and unused, they'll buy them back at your purchased price. I just thought that was really cool of Uhaul.)
I've been reading from other blogs here and there about the new advert system in place and I've seen in my advert queue recently a whole bunch of new adverts with a new category "New Paid Ads."

It's seem most people are not happy about it at all. There was recently a sort of boycott (No drop Friday?) which I partially participated as soon as I found out about it. And now some of my favorite bloggers are thinking of leaving Entrecard... hmmm...

At the More Than Sew So blog, Judy pointed out today the new Yellow Teeth advert appearing on a lot of the blogs. It also appeared on this blog, eventhough and although the advert appeared in my queue, I didnt reject nor approve of it. And as I started to drop myself, I too noticed a lot of other blogs with this advert appearing... hmmm...

Anyway, I decided to click on the advert just to see. And it brings you to Tanya's blog. And I find out she's from New York! What a small world! See for yourself:
This one is a music video by vlogger Natalie Tran of Australia over at the communitychannel on youtube. The song is called "We Just Touched Awkwardly."

Apparently Natalie is quite big over in Australia. In fact she's the #1 youtuber there, and #37 in the whole world. She's been vlogging for around 2 years and has 118 videos and over 64 millions views! But I've only recently heard and seen of her vlog now.

And watching a few of her vlogs, I can definitely see why she has such a following. Funny hilarious and adorable!

Here a few direct links of some of my favorites vlog entries:

"uncomfortable love scenes"

"Hi Mrs. Lee"

"LOOK! CAMERA!"

If you're interested in reading more about Natalie Tran, here's an article about her here. (Interestingly, with only 64 million views to her credit she reveals that her classmates at the University of NSW have no idea of her internet fame. Now I dont feel so bad :)
My blog has become nothing more than a repository for youtube videos. Anyway, I was actually just looking for a video of Jennifer 8. Lee's appearance on Martha Stewart's show recently, and wanted to learn how she made her dumplings, her turkey dumplings. But found this instead:

Cooking With Spring and Julia: Dumplings

I finally found the video of Jennifer 8. Lee on Martha Stewart, here. Looks delicious! But I think I go with Julia and Spring's recipe for now...
John always plays cool characters, but this is an extremely funny scene with the way he dances and I can't help but to burst out laughing. I've been trying to learn this dance myself, even tried to find instructional videos on youtube for this but I'm not so sure what the dance is called, if there is such a name for this dance. Anyway, if one day you see someone on the dance floor flagilating their arms whipping their head in any which way direction, say hello that's me! LOL!

My America
Your America
Our America
Is beautiful

May God keep us together
Because America, America
Is beautiful, beautiful...yea

Let liberty and justice reign for all
Let your dreams stand tall
The opportunities fall upon you
The land of the free

We have come and we have prevailed
For who so ever dreamed, this is your well
And here, here we are (here we are)

At the start, and the rising
Of the brand new day, Of a brand new day

For all, In the spirit of our fathers
(In the spirit of our fathers)

America
America
America
Is beautiful

My America
Your America
Our America
Is beautiful

America
(My America
Your America
Our America
Is beautiful)
(Oh your beautiful)
(to me)

America
America
Is beautiful
To me

It's been my second week back at work and I've learned a new skill. And it's how to create a pie chart in a spreadsheet. And it's pretty easy. Here's one instruction on how to do it in a spreadsheet, in OpenOffice Calc to be specific but this should work for those using Microsoft Excel too.

After creating a pie chart for my boss and his data, here's one I did for myself and my 24 hour day on a work day:

Exhibit A: The Data

Exhibit B: The Pie Chart

Exhibit C: The Video

This video was my attempt to make it a tutorial but it just sort of fell apart. So, instead, please enjoy the music by Lee Maddeford called "Tom's Lullaby." For more info about Lee Maddeford and his music please go here.

Addendum: The Notes

Out of a 24 hour day, I can now see that 50% of my time or 12 hours is spent on work and work related activities (Commuting time + Work time + Lunch time).

Actually also taking a portion (which I didn't include in this pie chart) is the Waking Up time and the Getting Ready For Work time. Getting Ready For Work time should really be added to the Work time portion of the chart, another 3 to 4 percent actually. I'll be sure to adjust this in my next pie chart.

The Commute time are just averages, sometimes, more often times the AM Commute time isn't as consistent as the PM Commute time. For some reason there seems to be more problems and happenings in the morning rush hour (traffic, people jumping in front of trains, too much rain/flood, etc) than the afternoon rush hour and so the percentages for the AM Commute time can go up to 7% and even 8%. Which is fine most of the time, because sometimes I can use this as an excuse if my Sleep time goes a little bit over.

33% is spent on Sleep time or rather that's how much I'd like to spend on sleep. 33% is the ideal but that's not often the case because I find that Free Time often wants to take a big portion of it. Free Time at 13% or 3 hours is often not enough time for dropping entrecards or other such activities like blogging or talking on the phone...

Conclusion: There isn't enough time in a day. And I am tired and it's time to go to sleep. See you next time!

Not too long ago I dropped on a blog post by a fellow entrecarder, Hugo from the StreamLined Mind and was quite happy that that submission made it to the frontpage: Poken: The Future of Social Networking? (source).

One of the nice (or not so nice) things I've noticed with digg is that one can get into contact with or get exposed to a lot of different stuff, a lot of strange stuff on the internet, either by shouts by fellow diggers or by discovering them yourself.

Well, here's one horrible story I've found on abcnews.com, that I submitted (that didnt get much attention) called the "Anatomy of the Worldwide Body Trade." (Viewer Discretion Advised)

It was about ABC's 20/20 news investigation into "the business of bodies -- real human bodies skinned, trimmed, pickled and cured in plastic" and "the ghoulish process to its origins." What 20/20 found out was that these real human bodies, these humans that you see in "exhibition" all around the country originated from China. And there's some convincing evidence that these "bodies" are of executed "criminals" or political prisoners, missing peoples. There's links to other galleries and notes about the scientist who invented this whole process, called plastination. Please take the time to visit the links.

For couple of years I've been seeing these gruesome advertisements to "The Bodies" exhibit plastered all around New York's buses and subway cars. And I've had friends inviting me wanting me to go with them to see the exhibit, but I've always declined. Something is just totally horrible wrong about this whole thing, in my opinion, and I'm not sure how to express it. (I've been also going through some major writer's block lately.)

So I selected a digital photo of an advertisement on a bus depot and opened it up in "photoshop" and started to work with it. In the process, I decided to record it all into a video. Here's the result of that session, a rough draft / work in progress, time elapsed video set to the music by Indonesian rock star Anggun, the song is called "Human":

I've been back from my vacation for quite some time now, but since coming back things have been sort of blah and hectic. Last night while dropping I fell asleep right in the middle, the cold weather makes me sleepy.

Just got back from work and the first thing I want to do is head straight for bed... I'm really looking forward to the Thanksgiving break. I love how work tries to make us feel extra special by pointing out they're giving us an extra day the day after Thanksgiving off. Wait, doesn't everyone get that day off too? Well, most people, no? (I should be just thankful I'm not laid off yet...)

Anyway. Here's a video I saw that cheered me up, from the playingforchange.org, Music Through Peace:

after 6 or so months,
after 3,176 profile visits,
10,700 dugged articles,
170 comments, and
64 submissions to digg.com...

... and now,

1 (one) submission "made popular" !

Digg: Big 3 CEOs Flew Private Jets to Plead for Public Funds

I can't believe it! Not only was it "made popular" but went to the frontpage on digg, and was top in news and in all topics as well.

I like to thank everyone for voting/digging and commenting on and blogging about this submission and helping me get my first ever "made popular." Thank you! (Oh! And the article is pretty interesting too :P)

Ms. O.
Remind me to never talk/blog about politics and about Horatio again... what a headache! And my apologies to those blogs I haven't been able to visit back yet, and e-mails/messages yet to respond to since returning from my road trip. I'm sorry, but I'm catching up...

I caught a meme from Karen at the blazingminds.co.uk blog, when reading her blog post called the "Soundtrack of Your life." It looked fun so I decided to do one myself...

Instructions:
1. Open your MP3 player
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. List down whichever song comes up

My soundtrack:
9) Driving: ceiling wax / chairlift (ilike)
11) Happy Dance: earwig town / chairlift
12) Regret: the story / norah jones (youtube)
13) Final Battle: Daylight Robbery / Imogen Heap (youtube)
14) Death Scene: yumeji's theme / in the mood for love (ilike)
15) Final Credits: boo hoo / kt tunstall / eye to the telescope (ilike)

There are 787 songs currently on my 8G iPod Nano "Fatty." This is the ipod I took on my road trip in mid October. I also have an ipod video 30G (U2 version) dedicated to only podcasts and audiobooks and some tv shows. I tend to carry the 8G one around because it's so small!

This was fun to do, especially seeing how the categories would match up with the random songs. #7's Life's Okay came out with Perfect Circle's rendition of the John Lennon's song Imagine... #14's Death Scene was an interesting match with Yumeji's Theme song from the movie soundtrack "In the Mood for Love."

Chairlift appears a few times for some reason in this random list. I got the album based on their song Bruises (from the ipod commercial) and so far this is only song I like from them.

Some songs on this random list I have no idea, for example Stabilizer and downstait. I can't remember quite how I got them too. I usually just dump stuff into the ipod, and start making playlists with the songs I like, and usually what happens is that I listen to those playlists to death over and over again. So I was kind of surprised to see that there were "other" songs on this ipod.

One song on this list is by a fellow Entrecarder... can you guess who? 1000 ECredits to the first correct answer!
