A week ago, I woke to a message from my now-friend Andrea at Superfine Bakery in L.A. She had seen one of our vintage tea, cake, cupcake display stands on a blog & wanted to drop a sweet note. Only thing was, it wasn’t just any blog; it was Mr. Preston Bailey’s Entertaining blog. Yes, we were thrilled! That’s a given, right?

Two of our stands flew out of the etsy shoppe that day, before I could even add them here on Orange & Blossom. It’s been a whirlwind ever since.

We do have a new tea stand on etsy (and more to come there & on this site, too), which actually has hints of colors found on Andrea’s glamorous Petite Regal cake above. Can you believe the detail?!? The gold circles, the gilt damask, not to mention that clever stand it’s sitting in… Stunning for a plum/eggplant winter wedding.

But… I will tell you all about Superfine Bakery’s super yummy things next week. Including delicious edible wedding favors that have nothing to do with cake at all. Happy Friday! May something good happen for you!

When my mom got married, the “rainbow wedding” was so in vogue. Asking your best ladies to don different colored pastel dresses was all the rage. Somehow, the different-but-similar look can still be pulled off quite well if you have a good eye & know where to find just the right kind of frilly, flouncy 1950s party dress.

A glance at these and my, oh my, bridesmaids or otherwise, who wouldn’t love to jump into one of these & head off somewhere exciting in a pink Cadillac convertible? They’re from the etsy shop of The Ritzy Rose, a design-minded gal from NY who moved to Ohio (whereas, I grew up in Ohio then moved to NY) & now pursues many passions incluing her online store. She’s just getting started on etsy; I can’t wait to see where she goes. Three of my favorites are below: a First Dance penant flag for the flower girl to carry; a vintage brooch bridal bouquet; and a vintage pink silk chiffon 1950s party dress. (Too big for me or it would already be sold…)

A 20-piece set (four place settings of a fork, knife, teaspoon, salad fork & soup spoon) of vintage monogrammed silverware, now clean, polished & perfectly mismatched into a set that’s as one of a kind as any family who uses it.

A perfect gift for weddings, anniversaries and housewarmings, choose one initial and we’ll have it cleanly stamped on the handle of each piece.
Clint Eastwood does, as a matter of fact. And if you’re ever in Mr. Dirty Harry’s neighborhood, a.k.a. the glroriously scenic Carmel, CA, you can meet them yourself at Mission Ranch Hotel & Restaurant.

As the story goes… “The historic Mission Ranch Resort sits on 22 acres with spectacular views of Point Lobos, Carmel River Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Once one of the first dairies in California, the rich history of this 1800’s ranch was preserved and restored by former Carmel Mayor, Clint Eastwood. A longtime Carmel resident, Clint Eastwood rescued this landmark resort from condo developers, and renovated the entire property to provide a unique resort experience. The Inn now consists of 31 hotel rooms located within ten buildings on the property. While dining at the restaurant, known for its American cuisine and piano bar, you can watch the sheep graze in the meadow.” {Who doesn’t love grazing sheep?!?} Just 9 blocks south of downtown Carmel and 8 blocks from the beach, the views and quiet location make the ranch a haven for romantic getaways, weddings, and anniversary drives up or down the California coast.

This vintage-inspired necklace is her latest treasure to catch my eye. Her fascination with kings & queens be praised!

If there’s a bride for every necklace, let her come forward for this alluring cast brass & crystal confection…

Artisan hand-cast in Istanbul, the necklace is, as Tracy puts it, “An homage to bewitching bygone eras… Hand-made & tarnished to perfection.” Of course!

She’s so very talented at transporting us to other lands with a single, decadent purchase.

Stolen Glamour Necklace, $498, by Tracy Porter.
