How do you keep track of extra buttons for your clothes? I have a simple and inexpensive button organizing idea for you. I either use the packaging the button comes in or I use little zip lock bead bags from the craft store. I also label the bags with the name of the piece of clothing.

I do the same thing with extra thread that comes with the sweater to be able to repair it. I label the bags with the name of the person the clothing belongs to also.

Then I labeled each section with the color of the clothing. I bought the organizer at the dollar store and since it only had eight slots I doubled up on some of the colors.

If I loose a button it’s so easy to find the replacement by looking up the color of the piece of clothing. I go through the organizer about once a year and take out the buttons of clothing that have been donated or trashed.

This is how I store buttons that are used for crafting or new sewing projects. When a button is taken out of the organizer it goes here also.

As I’ve mentioned before and probably will a million more times, I Love Spray Paint. This is what the bench looked like before. I’ve had this bench for 19 years and I love it! It started out white, then I painted it brown about 7 years ago. I was ready for a change again, something bright and happy for my front porch. As you can tell it should have been painted last year.

I had the green spray paint I wanted to use in my stash. It’s Pistachio by Valspar, but this is where it gets a little complicated. I only had 3 cans and one was only half full so I knew I needed 2 more. Instead of going to the store right then I started painting the bench (I’m kind of impatient) and got about halfway done with it. I went to Lowe’s to get more paint, picked up the can I thought was it by the lid color, then checked the color and it wasn’t the same. Ugh, it said Everglade Glen. I should have brought the lid with me, but I didn’t. I asked the sales associate to look up the old name but he said the color wasn’t even close to the same. I have color instinct and I just knew it was the same so I bought the 2 cans anyway. Guess what? Valspar (old) Pistachio and Everglade Glen are the same color. Hallelujah! I had bought the Pistachio 2 years ago and silly me didn’t even think about colors being retired. Luckily, they just renamed it. Moral of the story: don’t start painting something until you know you have enough paint or know that you can get more. Or follow your color instinct and know you have the same color in your hand and they just renamed it. Still no flowers in the pots.

Ammon and I decided to try out the newly painted bench with some yummy lemonade. I love trying out new lemonade flavors. I start with Crystal Light lemonade and add different sno-cone syrups. The syrup I added to this one is called Hawaiian, it’s a mixture of tropical fruits and is delicious.

Did you notice the pillows on the bench? They were purchased at JC Penney last year. They ended up costing me less than .50 cents for both. They were on clearance and I used a $10 off coupon. Pretty awesome deal! I love how the porch is coming together.

Spring always gets me in the mood to spray paint and by the looks of my front porch I need too. Can we say bland? How many shades of gray/brown can I have in one place? So over the next week or so I’m going to give my porch a color boost using very little money. You won’t even recognize it as the same porch when I’m finished.

I’ve talked about my spray paint stash in previous posts so I thought I’d share it with you again in case you missed it. See! I don’t hoard many things but I am a spray paint hoarder. Although I don’t know if it can be considered hoarding if I use it up and replace it.

Here’s the table before. I love it and I love all the intricate details but I don’t love the color. We place our drinks on it while we’re sitting on the porch and sometimes the kids play games on it. It’s been the perfect table other than the color.

I painted it Krylon Banner Red and now I love it! See what that little bit of color has done to the porch already? The pots help a lot too (they are from last year). I’ll be adding flowers to them later this week.

I also painted another little table. I forgot to get a before picture but it was about the same color as the first table. I painted the legs white. I didn’t care too much about over spray on the top since it was going to be painted another color.

I let it dry overnight then taped off the top of the table to be painted another color. I chose RustOleum Summer Squash for the top.

Pretty little table, don’t you think? It sits by the bench at the end of the porch, just another place to put cold drinks on a hot day.

Then I sanded the edges to distress them a bit. I applied vinyl to both sides to make the stacker 2-sided so I can switch them whenever I want.

I like my bedroom but I also want to make a few changes so I’ll like it even more. I’m going to start small, mostly because I like instant gratification and sometimes just a little paint can make a big difference. It’s amazing how easy it is to transform lamps with spray paint.

I painted the lamps black a few years ago when my side table was green, now that it’s black I needed to change the lamps again and since I can’t afford to buy new ones paint was the answer. I also wanted to add another color to the room. As soon as I saw Bahama Sea by Krylon I knew it was the color I wanted. Pretty gorgeous, don’t ya think? Make sure to tape or cover all the areas you don’t want painted really well. I also tape off the top portion of the cord so it doesn’t accidentally get sprayed.

I love how even though they’re small they add a lot of color and brighten up the space. I’m also going to be painting a large piece of furniture the same color. It’s on the other side of the room.

This is my side table which I won’t be changing because I love it.

And this is hubby’s side table which I will be changing. I have so much yellowish wood in this room and I’m so over it. Hubby’s side table is going to be painted black to match mine (hopefully this week.) I’m going to make a few more changes to it also. I can’t wait to show you (and hubby, when he gets home.)

Now that the weather is nice I will be painting almost everything in sight.

I like to give my kids a little gift on the last day of school to welcome in Summer. Since school is coming to an end I thought I’d share some past last day of school gift ideas. I haven’t thought of one yet this year but since school is out in a few weeks, I better get started. Maybe these will give you some ideas.

I’ve been fortunate to attend a few blogger conferences over the past couple years and I’ve gained so much from each experience.
