Organizing Aftermath... a sneak peek into the home of a professional organizer

I decided it was time to tackle some of the projects I put off while in treatment. My daughter's room re-do is one of them. She's 9 1/2 and ready to transition from her girly-girl room to something a bit hipper. [yes, it makes me sad]

The purging is complete... but the aftermath is taking over my dining room. I feel overwhelmed just looking at it. #igetoverwhelmedbypilestoo

There are distinct piles at work here... I know you can't see what I'm thinking so I labeled them for you :) But none-the-less the amount of work/stuff/chaos is overwhelming me.

So I'm going to do what I do for my clients. I'm going to assign an amount of time to it. Then set my timer and do it.

I do know the overwhelm is actually much larger thant the amount of time it will take...

I'm going to say.... 1 hour to tackle this project.

The Well Organized Closet

When I was having my home built we were given a small allowance for custom closets. I totally went over budget. It was worth it. Well worth it. So when I saw this in my in box I thought you'd want to know~

sooo... just how do you keep it all together?

I remember picking up my 'messy' kids from childcare and seeing others wearing a big white t-shirt over their cute outfits until juuuust before their mother's picked them up. The care provider created a system that worked for everyone involved. #clevershewas

We could only wish for everything to stay perfectly in it's place, but that isn't how life works. And really it shouldn't. Life is more fun when we get messy...

I created this monthly Keep it Together List for you + I to stay sane... because life is messy.

PLAN!

1. Review your Planner
Look over your planner and reschedule that appt + text the sitter for date night.

2. Schedule Appts
Go ahead and get those doctor appts. on the books; have that 'thing' looked at because it's "not" nothing, so stop ignoring it sistah!

3. Plan She Time
This one is all about you! Schedule a manicure, get a coffee date on the calendar, take a walk, go window shopping.

PRETTY IT UP!

4. Put-Aways
Clean out your catch-all bins + put away that project you've abandoned.

5. Dash + Dump
Take 2 minutes to get broken items, trash + recycling out of the house.

6. Dash + Donate
Set it free sister... take 2 minutes to gather your "perfectly good" yet you don't even use items and place them in the car destined for the donation center.

7. Returns
Get those return items out of your house and into the car so that you'll have an excuse to go to Target.

8. Download Photos
Time to move your photos off your camera and onto your computer + the cloud.

9. Self Breast Exam
Pinky promise me you'll do your monthly exam... I wish I had.

I'm Smitten... a new favorite thing

Sometimes I wonder how I've never heard of something... Like how did I not know this clever trick or how come it wasn't my idea?

Then other times... I see my ideas... and think 'Hey, that was my idea!" [hint use a thick tension rod.... #don'taskhowiknow]

But THIS, THIS wish-it-was-my-idea, well Chica... I'm totally in-the-loop... the first to know. They even contacted me... which makes me feel all uber special, because well, you know I've been under the radar for the past 22 months #ifyoudidn'tknowthatthenyouarenotintheloop.timetocatchupsistah
