There is a lot of new artwork to post, but today some studio pictures will have to suffice.
I’m a messy artist. Red cups for mixing acrylics, paint pens and Sharpies scattered everywhere.

The monkey happened by chance - my son painted green on a canvas and I saw the face shape and traced it out. It was flawless. I can’t quite place what character it is though, it seems to remind me of something from my childhood - perhaps a book? Pinocchio/Curious George cross? He’s so familiar.

He’s got a mossy Fu Manchu and vines coming out his nose, maybe he’s been in the woods for many, many decades. He can come home with you from the shop.

This is “The Can.” It’s something I’ve been drawing for years and is comfortable to me. They appear in alot of my art, but The Can is never the same. I like the blue and yellw together. As for the crying, it’s something started I started years ago… It’s more like The Can is leaking, as they sometimes do.

I like the way spray paint coats and applies, you can cover an entire object, get in all the nooks and crannies and it lays down evenly for the most part. You can control your application with different shape and size tips.

Oh, and I like the smell.

This incarnation of “The Can” is spray paint, paint pen and Sharpie, and is available in the Etsy shop. For now, it hangs in my stairwell and greets me mornings.

Have you ever had a 5 year old? What about a 5 year old who went through a robot phase? How about a 5 year old who’s into robots and decides that talking in a robot voice, all the time, is the thing to do?

This is how “Robot Hed” came to be.

After hearing the Robot Voice for what seemed like weeks on end, I too couldn’t get robots out of my head.

The aforementioned 5 year old would like this painting for his room, but methinks it’s a bit dark to be the last thing a small child sees before sleeping.

This is why “Robot Hed” is now available in the shop.

Look Mommy, I’m a robot! Bzzzzzz…..

This is called “Lost in the Woods.” It’s Sharpie, spray paint and paint pen on canvas, and measures 24×24. I went on and on with it and finally made myself stop by writing “Fin.” That was it. There are eyes, leaves, horseshoes, rocks and flowers. Like being lost in the woods, swirling paths and sun and confusion. It’s available in the shop.

I spent a lot of time while living in Mendocino wandering around the headlands there. And now am in the Sierra Nevada foothills and sometimes take my 10 month old out for a morning drive and we discover new waterfalls and tree-lined single-lane roads to ramble down.
