Facebook has been busy lately acquiring promising start-ups, poaching Google exployees, launching Facebook Places and otherwise tweaking and redesigning elements of its bread and butter social networking platform. After the initial build up, the official blog has announced new and redesigned profile pages for Facebook. The redesign will be automatically applied Facebook wide in the coming weeks, but if you're the impatient kind and want to be an early adopter, follow these steps to unlock the new Facebook profile:

Browse over to this page.
Hit the green button at the top right.
Revel in the latest redesign of your profile page.

Revisions to the profile page include a summary listing of personal information right below the user name at the top of the page. It carries information on user's employment, hometown, college details, relationship status, languages spoken and birth date. This will be followed by a filmstrip of recently tagged photos placed directly below. Overall, a greater emphasis on photos is apparent with the new design.

According to the blog, you can now "highlight the friends who are important to you, such as your family, best friends or teammates". These featured friends will be displayed at the left hand side and come with the ability to incorporate new friend groups or existing friends lists. Interests and activities carry increased focus on the profile pages.

Another major diversion is a lack of a ready text field to enter new status updates. The new design incorporates different content sensitive buttons to post status updates, photos, links and videos to your profile. I find that this speeds up the process as earlier one would have to wait for the icons to show up after clicking on the text field.

Finally, the new profile adds new ways to share interests and activities. The official blog elaborates, "You can list the projects you worked on at your job, classes you took in school, your favourite musicians and sports teams, and more." It also adds a Philosophy section where one can also share their life philosophy by incorporating preferences on religions, political affiliations, in addition to your role models. Interests and experiences are now represented with images in keeping with the visual centric theme of the new profile.

Search the Facebook Apps directory for something like “export contacts” and you’ll come across quite a few applications that sound as if they can transfer your friends contact information out of Facebook.
There’s an app called “Export Friends” that will save you friends names, city, birthday and their current location in a CSV (text) file that you then import into Excel, Gmail or any other web email program.
Then there are social plug-ins that can sync photos and status updates of your Facebook friends with matching contacts in Outlook.
The problem is that none of these apps can download what you are looking – the phone numbers and email addresses of your Facebook friends. Export Email Addresses of your Facebook Contacts

Facebook APIs don’t expose email addresses of users and hence none of the Facebook apps can provide you with the actual contact data of your friends. There’s however a simple (and perfectly legal) workaround that can help you easily download all your friends email addresses from Facebook’s walled garden.

The trick, as you can see in the video, is actually quite simple.
Go to address.yahoo.com and click the Facebook icon. A login dialog should pop-up, just sign-in with your Facebook credentials and within seconds, you entire Facebook address book will be available inside your Yahoo Mail Account. Once the import is done, click this link to download a CSV file with the email addresses of all your Facebook contacts to your desktop.
You can then import the CSV file into Gmail Contacts, LinkedIn, your phone address book or any of the social sites where you want to connect with your existing Facebook circle.
Update: If Yahoo! is unable to import your Facebook Address book, open your Facebook page and choose “Application Settings” under Account. Next remove the “Yahoo! Contact Importer” application from your Facebook profile and try the steps mentioned in the video again.

I kept hearing about Orkut, joined it one day. Found many of my lost contacts, collegues, and friends.

Well, for dummies like me Orkut is a social networking website launched by Google in January, named after Orkut Buyukkokten, a Google engineer who created it. It aims at connectings users to their friends and their friends' friends for talking, dating and business networking. Only people invited by an orkut member can join, create profile, join communities, and check for friends and other people.

I wondered who this Orkut Buyukkokten is.

Browsed www, found his snap. Looks cool isn't it??? Looks pretty young isn't it? Thought will check out more details.
Well, Orkut Buyukkokten was born on 6-Feb-1976, in Konya, Turkey.
Did his high school from Konya Meram Anadolu Lisesi (1986-93), BS Information Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey (1993-97). Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University in the Database Group.

Thought, if he has created Orkut, he should be there. Found his profile there. Sent a friend request, but didn't get a reply. But Amazing number of scrape entries!! 470449 scraps!!!!

Found some funny information on net about Orkut's earnings, but I am sure if this is not right:

As I continued to search about Orkut Buyukkokten, found that there were some court cases against him.

A small social-networking software company has filed suit against Google, claiming that much of the source code behind orkut.com, the search engine's popular social service, was stolen by a former engineer. In its lawsuit, Affinity Engines, based in Palo Alto, California, said engineer Orkut Buyukkokten illegally took the code that he had written for the company -- which he co-founded -- with him when he joined Google.

Affinity Engines also claimed that Buyukkokten promised Affinity Engines that he wouldn't develop a competing social-network service for Google. Affinity Engines, which filed the claim on May 25 in Santa Clara Superior Court, is seeking unspecified damages and royalties.

grew up n became IT technical architect in his late 20's, achievemnt in itself!!.

How to add Facebook friends to Google Talk in Bulk

In a day where social networks are increasing there are hardly any tools which offer feature like integration of all contacts to one place so that you can catch all your friends who are in Yahoo, G Mail and on Hot mail or in Facebook to one place so that you don’t need to switch to different places to talk with all your friends. So let’s start with the procedure wherein you can compile all your friends at one place. There are two phases wherein in first phase we will see how you can export facebook contacts and save to Yahoo, G Mail or even Hot mail. And then later we will see how you can import bulk contacts to Google Talk. What finally you can achieve with this task is that you can simply chat with your facebook friends in with the help of G Talk.
Procedure to export Facebook contacts and save them to Yahoo / Gmail / Hotmail:

First you need to go to address.yahoo.com and then you will see a screen as shown below after you sign in to your Yahoo account.

After signing in, all you will find a screen as shown above and now click on facebook icon and after clicking on facebook icon a new window will be opened up where in you need to authorize the sharing by clicking on OK as shown below:

Now as soon as you click on OK, within few seconds you will receive a screen saying that your contacts have been successfully imported.

Once the import is done, click on this to download a CSV file as shown below which has all the email addresses of all your Facebook contacts to your desktop.

Most importantly while importing the contacts to Gmail, assign it to some group which will help you easily add them in Google Talk which we will see at a later stage.

Now, go to G Mail account and compose a new email. Type in the name of the group which you named at the time of importing the contacts to the G Mail as shown below

Now, once you have the list of users in the To: field, its time to select Select All and Copy the addresses.

After that open Google Talk and Click on Add button which is located at the bottom of the G Talk client. In the next step paste all the contacts in the empty space as shown above.

Now, click on Next and all the contacts which you selected will either be added directly to your Google Talk if they are Google contacts or will be invited to use Google Talk if they use different clients other than Google.

In similar fashion, if you use any other Social Network like Orkut, You can first download the CSV format file and the same can be exported by above mentioned steps and can make use of all the friends who use Orkut or My space or any other social Networking site.

Facebook’s latest offering is the Facebook Email Service which is claimed to be the Gmail or Yahoo mail killer because of the quick emailing and social connectivity features. In order to get a email address like amitbhawani@facebook.com which is similar to gmail.com service, its suggested to check out the following tip.

    To set up a free @facebook.com address, go to your Messages view and click the “Claim your Facebook email” link. Your email address will match your public username, for example:

I have been a great fan of Google Mail service but recently i came to know that facebook is also going to offer similar kind of service under the name of Facebook messages or Fmail service. Why Is mail.facebook.com Pointing To An Outlook Web App Login?

This whole Facebook Mail thing is getting curiouser and curiouser.
After our post on Facebook taking control of fb.com, a number of people have reached out to say that mail.fb.com actually resolved to mail.thefacebook.com (that doesn’t seem to be the case for all people). What’s interesting about that is that mail.thefacebook.com (and mail.facebook.com) is live for all to see. It’s an Outlook Web App with a nice big Facebook logo that asks you for a username and password.
What’s really interesting about this is the report from All About Microsoft yesterday that Facebook’s new mail system may integrate with Office Web Apps. Obviously, Outlook is a part of those. Could this be the way that users are going to log in to check their new Facebook mail?
Probably not. Based on what we’ve heard, mail.thefacebook.com is actually the domain that Facebook employees use to remotely log in to check their work email. The fact that mail.fb.com is pointing to it, just seems to suggest that Facebook may be pointing all fb.com domains to their corresponding facebook.com domains (again, at least for some people).
But here’s what everyone really wants to know: are we going to get @facebook.com or @fb.com email addresses? Earlier today, Inside Facebook wondered if fb.com would be used for employees only, and facebook.com would be opened to the public. A report tonight in The New York Times cites two sources also saying that the public will be given facebook.com addresses (that’s what we initially heard as well).
But there could be a third scenario. It could be that Facebook allows people to have pick between the two domains, or simply have both. For example, you could email someone on Facebook at vanityname@fb.com or vanityname@facebook.com.
Or maybe Facebook isn’t planning on doing anything with the fb.com domain at this time other than redirect it to Facebook. But we’re heard one story of a Facebook employee boasting that starting next week their email address will be getting a lot shorter.

Update: Heard from a few more people in the know that mail.facebook.com is definitely Facebook’s employee mail access, like I said above. They’ve long used Exchange to handle their mail though it’s not clear if they’ll switch to use whatever this new mail service is yet (Google, for example, uses Gmail, obviously).
Nor is it clear if they’ll make mail.facebook.com open to this new mail product. For example, mail.google.com is Gmail, not their internal email login.

Asian Games: Advani opens gold account, Alok creates history

GUANGZHOU: Star cueist Pankaj Advani provided the first gold for India in the 16th Asian Games by clinching the title in billiards singles while Alok Kumar claimed a bronze in 8-ball pool event and the shooters accounted for a silver and bronze on the second day of competitions on Sunday.

Defending champion Advani kept his reputation intact with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Myanmar's Oo Nay Thway in the billiards final as India pushed their medals tally to one gold, three silver and two bronze to retain their fifth position on the table.

Hosts China continued to rule the roost and maintained the top position on the medals table with a tally of 37-14-12 while South Korea (13-10-12) and Japan (8-20-15) were in the second and third spots respectively.

The shooters were again in the spotlight with Heena Siddhu, Annu Raj Singh and Sania Rai claiming the silver in the women's 10 m air pistol team event and Vijay Kumar bagging the bronze in the men's 10 m air pistol at the Aoti shooting range.

Alok became the first Indian to win an Asian Games medal in pool events by bagging a bronze though he lost his semifinal contest 5-7 against Kuo Po-Cheng of Chinese Taipei. Under rules of the event, both the losing semifinalists are awarded a bronze each instead of playing a third-place play-off.

India's men's tennis team also assured itself of a bronze medal by securing a place in the semi-finals against top seed Chinese Taipei but the performance in other disciplines such as weightlifting, judo, swimming, cycling and triathlon left much to be desired on a day of mixed fortunes.

The day clearly belonged to the 25-year-old Advani who showed nerves of steel under severe pressure to clinch the first gold medal for India when he came twice from behind to edge out Myanmar's Oo Nay Thway 3-2 and retain his title after a bitterly fought billiards singles final.

Advani was down 1-2 after losing the first and third frames, but fought back in dogged fashion to clinch the fourth to take the match into a nerve-wracking final frame.

A beaming Advani, who has won the world professional and IBSF titles in the past, said this was the biggest title of his career.

"This feels great. This is Olympics for me as unfortunately we are not there in the Olympics. This time I made it a point to win the first gold for the country. It's an absolutely emotional moment for me. I cant't ask for more," he said.

After Narang's exploits on the opening day, the Indian women shooters Heena Sidhu, Annu Raj Singh and Sonia Rai had their moment of glory as they won the silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol team event.

The Indian trio combined to shoot 1140, a point adrift of the gold medallist Korean troika of Yunmi Gim, Byunghee Kim and Lim Ho Lee. Chinese shooters Qi Sun, Jun Wen Guo and Ling Su Yu settled for the bronze medal with a score of 1139.

Heena shot a score of 381, while Annu and Sonia managed scores of 380 and 379 respectively to help India win its third silver in shooting.

Vijay just about made the cut for the finals by finishing eighth in the qualification round but shot the highest score of 101.4 in the medal round for a total of 680.4 to take the bronze.

Lee Daem-Yung of South Korea won the gold with a total of 685.8 while Chinese veteran Tang Zongliang totalled 684.5 for silver.

Earlier in the qualification round, Gurpreet Singh totalled 573 to finish 20th while Omkar scored 568 to settle for the 28th position.

Away from the shooting ranges, India's tennis players kept themselves in medal reckoning by moving into the semifinals by prevailing over last edition's bronze medallists Thailand with a 2-1 margin.

Unranked Sanam Singh defeated 546th ranked Kittipong Wachiramanowong 6-1 6-4 in the first singles match in one hour and eight minutes.

World number 106 and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Somdev Devvarman then clinched the issue for India by edging past 464-ranked Danai Udomchoke 7-5 7-5 in one hour and 43 minutes.

In table tennis, Indian paddlers put up a good show as both men's and women's teams advanced to the quarter-finals.

Making a postive start to the day, the Indian women routed Maldives 3-0 and then Achanta Sharath Kamal starred in men's 3-1 win over Vietnam in the men's competition as he won two singles rubbers.

In the women's event, Mamta Prabhu, Madhurika Patkar and Kumaresan Shamini needed just 30 minutes to win their respective singles rubbers and seal India's place in the next stage.

Patkar routed Mueena Mhamed 11-6 11-6 11-7 in just 12 minutes and then Patkar needed just nine minutes to dispose of Fatimatch Jumana Nimal 11-3 11-4 11-1.

Shamini sent packing Aminath Shiura Shareef 11-4 11-4 11-1 in the third singles. With two wins and a defeat, India finished second in group B with five points.

Indian weightlifters continued to put up a dismal show with Rustam Sarang and Omkar Otari finishing ninth and 11th in the men's 62kg category.

The Indian swimmers continued to disappoint with Rehan Poncha and Virdhawal Khade failing to qualify for the men's 100m butterfly event.

Poncha and Khade were drawn in the same heat and while the former finished sixth, the latter settled for the eighth spot in the standings.

There was more disappointment for India in the men's 200m freestyle event where Havaldar Rohit Rajendra and Aaron Agnel Dsouza failed to make the finals.

In cycling, Okram Bikram Singh and Hylem Prince failed to qualify for the men's sprint quarterfinals after losing their repechage events.

India suffered their second consecutive loss, going down 28-37 against Qatar in a Group A match of the handball competition here on Sunday.

With the loss on Sunday, India are now in a difficult position to qualify for the semifinals. They had lost to China 21-41 in their opening match on Saturday.

Facebook To Announce Email Service?

This is what I call a full circle. While all the major Email vendors like Google, Yahoo, MSN are busy adding social networking features to their services, Facebook is busy rewriting its messaging product. And now, according to Techcrunch, Facebook is all set to unveil a revamped set of communication services, christened Project Titan, that will include Web-based email service complete with @facebook.com on Monday press conference.

A Logical Move

On second thought, this move seems to be logical. Facebook has more than 500 million users around the world. People spend more of their time online with Facebook than with any other Internet company, including Google and Yahoo. Facebook already has an online chat service and an elementary system to exchange messages but the features which are currently supported leave much to be desired from a messaging system. Now, with a full featured email product, Facebook wants people to weave their online lives even more tightly into it.

Facebook in recent months has added a number of features in its armory such as the Location feature that allows users to announce their location and a Groups feature that allows its users to share items with select groups of friends. Like these features, the new communication services will provide Facebook with an opportunity to spend more time with consumers. And it is a no brainer that more the time people spend on Facebook, more the profit it makes.

There is very little chance that the Facebook messages will ever be used for professional communications. Remember, Facebook is banned in most of corporate settings but still the new feature can take the personal communication to a new level. Facebook has the world’s most popular photos product, the most popular events product and second most popular online video content. Add to all these features a sturdy messaging system and you will understand what I mean to say. The new communication service will not only enhance Facebook’s product offerings but it will also take it one step closer in its attempt to become your default social profile. Well, for Google and others, it will pose as a serious challenge to tackle with, but for users it could turn out to be a win-win offer.

So, let’s wait till we hear more from the press conference. One thing is for sure though, with Google and others will be keeping a close eye on the proceedings, we will not be alone.

Facebook to launch ‘Gmail killer’ email

Facebook is set to launch its latest Google-taunting product on Monday: the long-anticipated Facebook email system. The launch of an @facebook.com email is not itself a great surprise — the existence of a secret project officially known as Project Titan and unofficially as "Gmail killer" has been circulating since February

But tech industry analysts believe that a Facebook email system, coupled to its popular photo and events programs, could become a comprehensive competitor to Gmail.

If Mark Zuckerberg’s firm launches a Facebook search engine that prioritises results around the known preferences of a user's circle, then the commercial potentiaal of social networking would be extended.

Google has more than two-thirds of the search market, and there is little doubt it is taking seriously the threat of Facebook, which has more than 500 million members but lacks business-orientated, revenue-generating services. gns

Facebook may announce e-mail service today

LONDON: Social networking site Facebook may announce its e-mail service as early as Monday, if online buzz is to be believed.

The announcement of 'Project Titan' could see '@facebook.com' e-mail addresses being unveiled, an overhaul of the site's entire messaging system.

No British event is planned, however, so it seems that the so-called "Gmail killer" may have a limited launch, if at all.

TechCrunch has reported that the product may be limited at launch, while pointing to the significant potential of a service that integrates e-mail with Facebook's popular places, photos and events applications, reports the Telegraph.

Unusually, Facebook has chosen not to use its Palo Alto headquarters for the launch. Instead, the event may be held at Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.

According to social media news blog Mashable, Facebook's current messaging system is "difficult to manage. Users are unable to send messages outside of Facebook, and the system can't handle simple things like attachments and forwarding".

"If Facebook really wants to take on Google , it needs to have a far more robust messaging system, akin to web-based e-mail. Monday may be the day we see that happen."

Project Titan was first mentioned by Michael Arrington on TechCrunch in February. It has not, however, received any official confirmation from Facebook yet.

SAN FRANCISCO--"We don't think that a modern messaging system is going to be e-mail," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a press conference this morning as it unveiled a hotly anticipated revamp of its messaging system that many pundits had characterized as a "Gmail killer."

But unveiling an e-mail product wouldn't take into account all the other means of digital communication that have sprung up and are now used by hundreds of millions of people around the world, the young executive insisted. He says he was inspired by conversations with high schoolers who insisted to him that they use text messaging and Facebook messages in lieu of e-mail because "it's too slow" and "too formal."

So Facebook has debuted a sweeping messaging system--in the works for 15 months, according to Zuckerberg--that pulls in multiple channels of communication from across Facebook as well as other platforms, allowing for faster, shorter, and more real-time forms of messaging as well as Facebook's existing messaging service and chat client. Facebook messaging and chat are used by 350 million of Facebook's 500 million-plus active users around the world, and with 4 billion messages sent per day.

"It's not e-mail. It handles e-mail in addition to Facebook messages, and Facebook IM, and other IM and SMS and all the other different ways that you want to communicate," Zuckerberg said. "It's true, people are going to be able to have Facebook.com e-mail addresses, but it's not e-mail."

The product offers "seamless messaging" across different forms of communication--Facebook messages, e-mails, instant messages from a variety of clients, and text messages--aggregated conversation histories between any two given Facebook users, and a "social in-box" to prioritize messages that matter. This last feature is much like the Gmail "priority in-box" that Google has been testing out over the past few months.

"People should share however they want to share," said Andrew Bosworth, the Facebook engineer who spearheaded the project. "If you want to send me an e-mail and I want to get it on Facebook, that'll work. If you want to chat with me and I want to get it on Facebook Messages, that'll work too." There is, at this point, no voice chat, but Zuckerberg said that option may come into play depending on demand for it.

The "social in-box" will weigh priority of messages based on conversation histories and which contacts are likely to get ongoing responses, filtering out spam as well. Facebook members will also have the option of only receiving messages at their Facebook.com addresses, which are based on the Facebook user names that were first introduced earlier this year.

The Facebook messaging overhaul caps off a season of perpetual product releases and revamps from Facebook, from Facebook Places in August to the Groups overhaul this fall. But this one will be slower to percolate into the Facebook user base: invitation-only for now, it will be rolling out over the next few months.

While Facebook claims this isn't meant to kill e-mail clients, it's clear that e-mail providers are noticing. AOL, for one, pushed out a preview of its e-mail overhaul this weekend. Google, meanwhile, has been making one attempt after another to use Gmail and Gchat users' networks of contacts as the basis for next-generation messaging products, but it hasn't had much luck: Google Buzz was poorly received, and the more experimental Google Wave was shut down altogether after a few months.

SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook Inc. on Monday introduces a “next generation messaging system” that will merge texts, online chats, and emails into one central hub.

Facebook began to offer a few thousand U.S. members an e-mail address that consists of their user name followed by @facebook.com. The new service is seen as offering an alternative to Gmail.

Ahead of the announcement, it was speculated that Facebook would unveil a “Gmail killer,” a reference to Google’s popular e-mail service. However, Facebook said traditional email is too slow and cumbersome and needs to step into the modern world of messaging.

During the conference at San Francisco, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said, “This is not an email killer…Maybe we can help push the way people do messaging more towards this simple, real time, immediate personal experience. Email is still really important to a lot of people. We think this simple messaging is how people will shift their communication.”

Reacting to the notion that Facebook’s new product would be most crippling for Gmail, Mr Zuckerberg said, “In reality they have a great product….We don’t expect anyone to wake up tomorrow and say ‘I’m going to shut down my Yahoo Mail or Gmail account. Maybe one day, six months, a year, two years out people will start to say this is how the future should work.”

The new Facebook product would enable users the view for messages from Facebook friends and friends of friend. Members will also be able to access privacy controls to block unwanted messages.

The company will also bar software developers from using Facebook messages to contact members without their explicit permission. It will enable users to send messages to traditional e-mail services such as Google’s Gmail or Yahoo Mail. However, unlike other e-mail services, Facebook messages don’t have subject lines.

But if you have a look at this wiki page, you can certainly trace any mobile number up-to the level of its mobile operator and state (or zone) that’s too using first 4-digit only. It (wiki page) lists all mobile number series in nice tabular manner categorizing them according to mobile operator and state (or zone).
Like other wiki pages, this wiki is also updated regularly and provides you with latest information. I have never been disappointed by it and I am using it for over a year.

Blackberry’s solution for India

Research in Motion’s Blackberry has found a solution for its Indian users. It will have a corporate forum which will allow the Indian government to get access to data which might be sensitive from a security point of view.
Previously the government had given a deadline until the 31st of August 2010 for RIM to conform with certain demands. The sore point has been the messaging service which is encrypted and has a lot of users using it for privacy.

What are Indian demands?

The government has wanted some clarifications from Blackberry since 2008. It seems it has set a deadline and looks a lot more serious on following through and if needed even banning Blackberry’s messaging service.

Indian government wants a Blackberry’s server to be located in India. This is so that their solutions can be tested within the country.
The government wants to be able to track or access encrypted data sent over the RIM messaging network for security purposes.

Blackberry’s Solution

Blackberry has offered a solution that it will lead an industry forum to allow lawful access. This access will be given only on issues on security. This offer has got Blackberry a reprieve of 60 days.

What saved blackberry?

The Common Wealth Games 2010 start in Delhi, India on the 3rd of October. This will obviously attract a lot of tourists from around the world. International criticism of banning RIM’s messaging service is what the Government might be trying to avoid.
Considering there are over 1.2 million Blackberry users in India, the government might think twice before actually following through with a ban.

What could this mean to other companies?

It is not clear what the plans are for the government for the future. But if RIM complies to demands for data access than Google and Skype might be the next companies which would need to give assurances to India’s telecom regulators.
There is speculation that this might lead to people to move over to getting an iPhone or the latest from Nokia. But that seems unlikely as the service affected will only the messaging service.
Also applications like Nimbuzz which already offers alternatives which comply with the regulations.

Why Orkut is NOT celebrating Pakistan’s Independence day???

Just few hours back I have posted how Orkut is celebrating Indias 60 Years of Independence!
Then I received comment from Lovedeep on that post saying Orkut Logo featuring Indian tricolor looking great!
And I wondered how Orkut Logo is featured in Pakistan as Pakistan also completing 60 Years of Independence day on 14^th August, 2007.
So I decided to use a proxy for Pakistan – www.orkut.pk and shocked to see normal orkut logo!
Curiously I contacted Orkut Team asking,

wat about pakistan???
they r also having their 60th independence day!

and they replied with this….

Why this biasness??? Is this Independence Day celebration is professional move from orkut without any real spirit? Even if the answer is yes, isn’t Pakistan matters for orkut atleast professionally??

This spring, I guess, I need to take another look at Orkut.“
Now who remembers Orkut, Google’s social networking service?
As described in Wikipedia “Orkut is a social networking service which is run by Google and named after its creator, an employee of Google – Orkut Büyükkökten“. The service was launched in 2004, initially by invitation only. And it is now the most visited website in Brazil and second most visited site in India.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? And I subscribed to the service shortly after it was launched. But what can it offer in 2009?
Logging on for the first time in ages I found the various discussion groups (forums) which I’d subscribed to after I joined, which included one on Libraries. And what did I find? Well not much discussion – and the odd spam comment, as illustrated. Similarly the Web Developers and Designers forum, which has over 3,500 members, seemed to contain mostly messages advertising Web design companies.
But Orkut now provides more than just discussion groups – it also provides access to Open Social applications. And looking at the list of applications which I can add to my Orkut page I discovered, on the first page of applications, that I can add Photobuzz to “Make [my] friends smile! Animate their photos with Hugs, kisses, hearts and much more“, Superscrap to “Send christmas scraps and wish merry christmas to your friends. Dozens of new templates created to each occasion. Handwrite your personal message and superscrap [my] friends. True friends deserve a super-scrap everyday!” or use an ‘educational’ applications such as IQ Test to “Take a free 15 minute intelligence test to find out your IQ and compare it with [my] friends to see who is the most intelligent“. You can even install Slapster which promotes itself with the summary: “Don’t just poke your friends, slap’em around with Slapster! Select your friend’s orkut profile picture and slap it around as hard as you can with this fun application!“. This will be an undoubted favourite for Facebook users. Not!
Does Orkut have anything to offer me? I don’t think so. It seems to have been abandoned by the 35 colleagues I had befriended. And what’s the point of a social network if nobody is using it? It looks like Facebook will continue to provide the environment for me to keep in touch with friends and colleagues – despite the criticisms which this service seems to attract.

First visit Blogger.com

Now click on "Create a blog" Link.
By using your existing email ID you can create an Account
Then select a Title And Domain name for your Blog .
Click "Continue".Select Theme or Template for your Blog.

Congrats now you are a Blogger...
Click "Start Blogging".
Now click "Dashboard" And Click on "create a blog".Yes we need two Blogs just Create Second Blog With same procedure.

Again Go to "Settings" then "Email & Mobile"

Copy the Whole email address(In this Format xxxxx.secretword@blogger.com ) and Paste For later Use preferably in Notepad (or where ever you like)

Select First radio button "Publish emails immediately" then click "Save settings"
Go to "layout" then "Page Elements" Click "Add a Gadget" In the POP up window select "HTML/Java Script"
