La Interdicción de la Quemadura es Levantada en el Condado de Osceola

Condado de Osceola, Florida – Debido a las cantidades recientes de las caídas de lluvias en el condado de Osceola, los comisionados del condado levantaron la interdicción de la quemadura esta semana que ha estado en efecto desde a mediados de junio.

De acuerdo con el jefe de incendios del condado de Osceola, Richard Collins, los residentes deben continuar la práctica de precaución mientras quemen, y obtener permisos donde sea necesario. Los residentes también deben tomar en cuenta las condiciones del viento cuando usen sus parrillas y/o fuegos a los abierto.

Burn Ban Lifted in Osceola County

Osceola County, Florida

Osceola County, Florida – In light of recent rain fall amounts in Osceola County, County Commissioners lifted the burn ban this week that has been in effect since mid-June.

According to Osceola County Fire Chief Richard Collins, residents should continue to practice caution when burning, and obtain permits where necessary. Residents should also be mindful of wind conditions when using grills and open pit fires.

El Condado de Osceola Participa en la Exposición Sobre el Estado de la Preparación de Huracanes

Condado de Osceola, Florida – La administración de emergencias del condado de Osceola se juntará con 16 otros expositores en la exposición sobre la preparación de huracanes 2008 en Osceola el 12 de Julio, 2008, desde las 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. en el Kissimmee Civic Center localizado en el 201 E. Dakin en downtown Kissimmee. El evento es gratis y está abierto al público.

Los residentes aprenderán formas de como proteger a sus hogares y sus familias durante una emergencia. Habrán presentaciones realizadas por respondedores de emergencias sobre la restauración de electricidad, seguridad de generadores, ajustes de arboles, colecta de escombro, y planes del condado/ciudad sobre las respuestas de desastres. Tendrán la oportunidad de hacer preguntas.

Junto con la administración de emergencias del condado de Osceola, los expositores participantes incluyen KUA, City of Kissimmee, Toho Water Authority, Osceola Council on Aging, University of Florida’s IFAS/Osceola County Extension Service, South Florida Water Management District, American Red Cross, Florida Division of Emergency Management, FEMA, y representantes de la Amateur Radio Emergency Service local. Osceola County Participates in Joint Hurricane Preparedness Expo

Osceola County, Florida

Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County Emergency Management will join 16 other exhibitors in the 2008 Osceola Hurricane Preparedness Expo on July 12, 2008 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Kissimmee Civic Center located at 201 E. Dakin in downtown Kissimmee. The event is free and open to the public.

Residents will learn ways to protect their homes and families during an emergency. Presentations will be given by emergency responders on power restoration, generator safety, tree trimming, debris collection, and county/city disaster response plans. Residents will have opportunities to ask questions.

Along with Osceola County Emergency Management, participating exhibitors include KUA, City of Kissimmee, Toho Water Authority, Osceola Council on Aging, University of Florida’s IFAS/Osceola County Extension Service, South Florida Water Management District, American Red Cross, Florida Division of Emergency Management, FEMA, and representatives from the local Amateur Radio Emergency Service. Emergency response vehicles will also be on display.

Deer Park Road Closure

Osceola County, Florida – Deer Park Road (CR 419) in eastern Osceola County will be closed to through traffic between July 21 and August 8, 2008 for repairs to the bridge at Pennywash Creek located approximately 5.5 miles north of U.S. 192.

Motorists are advised to use Nova Road and other roadways in the area as an alternative route.

Summer Continuing Education 2008

"Green Building" is catching on and many want to know what it is all about. If you have a professional license (architect, building inspector, engineers, etc) and need continuing education, or if you need hours for your contractor license renewal before August 15, this program is for you. You could get 8 hours, or up to 14 hours, all in two days, August 19 and 20, in Kissimmee!

The program is not training to become a certifying agent for one of the green building programs, but it will help you understand the concepts of green building so you can better understand the existing certification programs.

The course will provide an overview of key building features that affect building performance. An overview of appropriate provisions found in the Florida Building Code is included. The course addresses the building as a system and examines building failures due to outdoor and indoor environments through both building design and building construction techniques. An overview of green building certification programs is included, but not limited to, USGBC - LEED for Homes, NAHBA Green Building Standards, DOE/EPA Energy Star and FGBC - Green Homes Standard.

Lane Closure on Old Canoe Creek Road

Osceola County, Florida

Osceola County, Florida – Orlando Utilities Commission has announced closure of the eastbound lane between Mallard Pond Boulevard and Canoe Creek Road on Thursday, July 3, 2008 and Monday, July 7, 2008 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to relocate a pole line that will service the new Publix and Walgreens at the intersection of Old Canoe Creek Road and Canoe Creek Road.
