LOCAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR  STUDENTS

WHERE:  Metcalfe Farmer’s Market, located at Metcalfe Fair Grounds, Metcalfe, Ontario

WHEN:   Every Saturday morning from 12 May to  13 October 2012.   Market is open from 8:00 am to 12:00. Exact hours/days to be discussed with Market Manager. 

HOW MANY STUDENTS:  If there are multiple interested students, hours can be shared over the summer months.  

WHAT:  If you are interested in volunteering, this is an interesting and fun summer opportunity!   Learn valuable skills about market management & operations, the retail environment, and dealing with people.  All hours will be applied to your High School Community Services Requirement.   Contact the Market Manager for details about the duties or any questions you might have.

Looking for a responsible student who would like to gain some great experience working with our sound & lighting crew for 'The Sound of Music' … as well as student volunteers for the run of the show:  lobby assistants, canteen workers.

We hope to find people who would be interested in gaining experience working with a live production.  Our show runs from March 28 to April 1, 2012.  

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR METCALFE’S EASTER BUNNY BREAKFAST

Metcalfe Cooperative Nursery School is looking for high school volunteers to help with their Easter Bunny Breakfast , both for the preparation on the evening of March 30th from 6-9 pm and at the event on March 31st, from 7am to 1 pm. Important Information
 
Bylaw has informed us that effective immediately, we will no longer have a smoking area on our school property.  This stems from the fact that the students have continued to be non-compliant and argumentative.  Students will have to find an alternative place to smoke that is not on school property.  Bylaw will no longer be issuing warnings, instead they will only be issuing fines.  Many smokers have approached staff to request help with quiting smoking.  We are looking into having public health run workshops for our students. Students are aksed to listen to the morning announcements in the next few weeks for more information.
