Oshyn Helps Thousands of People in Remote Ecuador Access Better Healthcare

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 19, 2008 -- Oshyn, Inc., a leading enterprise technology agency, announced today a donation to healthcare projects in a remote area of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. Oshyn donated funds in addition to funding by several Rotary organizations. The project provided an Automated Blood Analyzer to a free clinic operated by the Apostolic Diocese of Puyo and a dental chair, instruments and composite curing light to a free dental clinic operated by the Municipality of Mera. The total cost of the project was $31,506.

Mario Tierra, of the Apostolic Diocese of Puyo free clinic, previously processed all of the clinic's blood work manually, which often took precious hours or days to complete. Now the sophisticated Pentra 60 Blood Analyzer provides results within minutes. The quick blood results allow the clinic's physician to immediately begin treatment, which will save many patients' lives. The clinic is visited by about 200 patients per week. The dental equipment will provide much needed modern dental care to financially-challenged patients in Puyo, Mera and neighboring communities in the Amazonian province of Pastaza. Dental hygiene is a pressing healthcare issue in most of the Latin American countries.

Diego Rebosio, Chief Executive Officer of Oshyn, traveled with his wife Kathy Izurieta to Puyo and Mera for the official ribbon cutting ceremonies, in October, where the dental clinic was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Mera, Mr. Alfredo Cajamarca. The official transfer of the Blood Analyzer also took place on the same day in Puyo. During the ceremonies, Sister Maria Dominga Porto who is the head of the clinic and Mayor Cajamarca thanked Oshyn and the Rotary clubs for their generous support in bringing much needed expanded healthcare assistance to the region. The host Rotary club, Rotary Club of Puyo, honored Diego Rebosio, with a Paul Harris Fellow Award for Oshyn's contributions to the successful completion of this humanitarian service project.

Oshyn talked with the client’s information technology (IT) department and adhered to their back-end development guidelines, as well as ensuring the front-end look and feel coordinated with the overall branding and campaign-specific guidelines. Oshyn managed the portions of the project for which IT was required. Meeting tough advertising timelines dictated by the larger campaigns of which they often are a part goes with the territory and here again Oshyn rose to the challenge.

Two major challenges were that the site: had a tight timeframe between project start and launch, and was highly interactive and required a stable back end and content management for campaign clerks to manage the information posted in the site. CP+B hired Oshyn to get the job done based on previous experience it had with the firm, and on the firm’s reputation for meeting nearly impossible timelines.

Oshyn produced a database-driven, consumer-facing site using industry-standard database technology and scripting on the backend. On the front-end, Oshyn used the latest Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technology. The intent of using Ajax is to make the Web pages more responsive to an end user by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire Web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user makes a change.
