Idea

A highly efficient heritage festival outreach platform that is asthetically effortless to locate information, fast to update, supports registration and payment, provides instant reporting and supports shareable content publishing.

Purpose

The National Heritage Board celebrates Singapore heritage with the nation yearly at the Singapore Heritage Festival. Inaugurated in year 2004, the festival attracts a massive crowd of more than 1 million visitors in recent years. The purpose of this project is to create a dynamic, maintainable and expandable online platform which promotes information, activities, contests from festival prelaunch to post festival period.

Online from Multiple Perspectives

From the information perspective, the platform not only boosts a customised content management system that allows multiple festival parties to access and maintain information updates. More uniquely, it is an information sharing platform that allows shared publishing of content pages across multiple websites.

From the logistics and management perspective, the platform allows instant registration and payment of festival activity tickets and performance booking. The event organiser was relieved of the pain of having to manually collate participant profiles and registration details, allowing the event organiser to focus efficiently on the actual event setup and publicity roles. A robust reporting module provides instant views of participation statistics, allowing efficient monitoring of participant rates for the festival.

From the publicity perspective, the platform incorporates social media including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to create greater publicity impact on the festival. Edms (electronic emailers) are another outreach tool used in this festival.

Designing the Components

A major challenge in the design process is the need to manage ongoing and new activity updates throughout a four month period from prelaunch to post launch. Although the site is driven by a content management system, it is flexible enough to cater to ad hoc new additions in terms of ideas and activities. Dynamic project management ruled by logic and design thinking made the project possible.

The site architecture is carefully crafted for information clarity, design efficiency and logical structure-activity correlationship.

The user friendly interface design is a reflection of the festival branding built on an extendable CSS detached from the content itself, allowing the skin to change according to the festival theme.

Workflows from submission to judging design competitions, volunteering, booking of school programmes are incorporated into the platform completed with reports.

The Result

The festival online platform complements the National Heritage Board and the event organiser in publicity and logistics management processes, making changes faster and processes more efficient. A good example of online technologies well used for operational efficiency.

An online event platform for the annual Singapore International Photography Festival.

Purpose

Online registration and event support for Singapore International Photography Festival.

Solution

The biennial festival SIPF is an annual event and platform for Southeast Asian artists to showcase their works alongside their international peers at various venues in Singapore. The platform is the backbone for entry submission. An artist can register and pay online for his entry and submit his body of work over the platform.

Behind the scene, the SIPF administration team is able to instantly view artists profiles and submissions, view and download statistical reports via an admin module. The platform relieves SIPF from event registration logistics and allow SIPF to focus on other aspects of the event.

SIPF Office is happy that Osmosis Interactive has provided the perfect festival platform that is user friendly and practical for both visitors and festival office. This is crucial for the festival to keep public updated with the latest news during the festival and the same time it’s a excellent platform for online submission and registration that reduced the administrative works, and improve the logistic with online mechanism.

Mystory.sg is a shared heritage education online platform comprising of
mystory.sg, heritagecalendar.sg, heritagetrails.sg and heritagefest.sg.

The multifaceted online platform serves the National Heritage Board and engages its target audience to participate in all year round heritage programmes, events and activities.

The Objective

To tap into new media for heritage education and outreach.

The Strategy

A sharing online platform for heritage activities and events in Singapore.

The Solution

MyStory.sg is an open sharing platform for public and schools to learn and share about all things heritage in Singapore. Through sharing heritage knowledge and activities in Singapore, the platform hopes to encourage a greater sense of rootedness and community bonding. You can learn about heritage landmarks and historical sites on this platform. You can organise heritage trails at leisure and invite your friends and family to join you. You can share heritage stories, photos and videos and discuss, comment and rate on pages.

Another dimension to the platform is operational. It facilitates online registrations and bookings, event updates, online activities such as competitions and reporting. This solution is designed uniquely to allow sharing of content pages across four of the client’s websites, with the ultimate aim of operational efficiency and ease of maintenance.

The online platform does not stop here. The client leverages on social platforms such as Facebook to further reach out to its target audience and makes full use of internet media to achieve its national mission.

in2it is the creation of an online community platform for SAFRA. It is an all-encompassing project from branding to online and marketing strategies. The site is now live at in2it.sg

The Purpose

To create community bonding among people of the same hobby.

The Strategy

in2it’s initial requirements started with a host of technology tools that are available in the market. An expert analysis of user needs lead the team to streamline the platform into a very focused direction – to bring people of the same interests together. With the focused objective, in2it.sg eventually is positioned as a lifestyle platform which single purpose is really about community bonding.

Branding in2it.sg

Working in close partnership with NEC and PlanetAds, this project is a good example of how a portal can be repackaged into a brand. in2it is an abbreviation for “I’m into (in2) this hobby….i’m into (in2) that hobby….” The overall concept is to create a persona that softens and humanizes this site. It is not another A-Z portal but it is service-oriented and interest group specific. More importantly, the concept is eminently campaignable, generating more mileage out of its branding.

The consultancy team designed the logo for in2it.sg, alongside a pre-launch teaser campaign and a marketing contest that engages the public to sign up and choose to win a prize relevant to their hobby. The campaign was a success and one of its kind in its time. SAFRA’s existing huge membership database further promotes its popularity upon launch.

Designing the Interface

There’s only one word for interface – simpicity. An added interest to the interface is the ability for users to choose a color theme that suits his personal interest – it all ties back to matching a user with his hobby.

Designing the Components

The platform has a very straight forward workflow. A user arrives at the website, he does a buddy search, finds out who is doing what, instant chat to activity partners, utilizes the event planner to invite friends and activity partners to join and schedule an event/activity and shares the activity calendar with everyone involved. He can join interest groups, have his own personal space and widen his connections online.

The entire process is very focused – get users to mingle through Safra’s activities and facilities. Being focused reduces clutter. Simpility is more effective as it gets to the point what users are supposed to do.

To top off the features, SAFRA generously reward members with exclusive promotions and good deals.

Teamwork

in2it.sg combines the seamless ideas of the client, a technical solution provider, an experience design agency and an ad agency. Multiple agencies for a project may seems complex. However, tapping on the expertise of each agency in strong collaborative manner can produce a synergy that is beyond one single party. in2it.sg is that birthchild of a good idea, a clever strategy and experienced expertise all rolled into one.
