It's not often we see Jessie J all dolled up, but when she does: WOW! She looked absolutely stunning in this slink leopard print number by Louis Heal at the amfAR gala at Cannes Film Festival. Her bold choice was slit all the way up to her thigh, showing her very shapely pins and it was also slashed across the bodice to reveal more than a little cleavage. Impressively, the dress still looks elegant. In part down to Jessie looking so relaxed with simple hair and make-up - you can't go wrong with retro waves an a red lip! Jessie was performing at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS event and her gorgeous outfit made sure all attention was on her. It's a wonder the celebs at Cannes film festival aren't all having to wear sunglasses with the amount of sunshine and sequin sparkle that's going on. We've never seen so many sequins! They're not so easy to wear though (not just because of chafing and pointy bits when you sit down). One sequin too many and you risk looking like you fell down from the Christmas tree. That's only acceptable in a Richard Curtis film if a handsome man is able to catch you, so you'll need to tread carefully. Here are some of our favourite sequin pieces.

Mix with something softer. Mixing sequins with wool and silk chiffon is a surefire way to keep your look romantic and glam rather than trashy disco (unless that's the look you're going for, in which case don't let us stop you). Pale colours work really well for this - think draped and sexy, with a little bit of sparkle on the side. This floaty chiffon train dress is £175 from Rare.

Go for accessories. A little sequin detail can really lift an outfit. You can wear sequin flats with jeans during the day or to make your little black dress a little more interesting. Your feet will be comfy all night as well! These Steve Madden sequin ballerina flats are £50 from Debenhams. Just don't go for sequins with sequins. You are not a Christmas fairy.

Stick to little details. If you fancy sprucing up your work outfits, a little bit of sparkle will do it. Don't go overboard, keep it cute. This sequin collar dress is perfect, and just £45 from Miss Selfridge.

Pick an unexpected shape. Most sequin dresses fall into the 50 prom style category. Not this French Connection dress - it's a simple tshirt shape and all the better for it. it's £260 and the muted colours make it even more interesting. This one's a winner.

Break all the rules. Oh, what the heck. Wear all of the sequins! If you're going to wear something bold, keep the silhouette sleek. The only thing that saves Milla's outfit from being a total disaster is... well, her actually. Lilac actually suits her (meaning she's probably the only person in the world who can wear that colour) and her Swarovski accessories are gorgeous. The girl has got her pose on and as always we're completely in love with her hair. We'll admit that the back of the dress is a lovely shape, but that's largely helped by Milla's fantastic figure. Georgia May Jagger is taking over as the face of the line that Madonna runs with her daughter Lourdes. Daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Georgia was handpicked by Madge and Lola to promote the teen fashion range, despite now being 20 herself. Model Georgia said she's thrilled with her new job. The reality TV star showed off her chic, jaw-length blonde bob at the Waitrose Summer party, it just looks so much fresher than her ratty extensions and totally suits her. We're also loving the texture: it has a really nice matte look that makes it a bit edgy. Combined with glowing and natural-looking, non-orange skin, and minimal make up (apart from the eyelashes. You can take the girl out of Essex...) it was a subtle but beautiful look. I just wish that her The Only Way Is Essex co-stars would take a leaf from her book. What do you think of the style? This isn't just like two people turning up and wearing a little black dress - when you're wearing a pristine white jumpsuit, you want to be the only person rocking that look! The outfits aren't identical - Cameron is wearing a gorgeous strapless Stella McCartney jumpsuit whereas Cheryl opted for a white maxi dress by Victoria Beckham - but the outfits have a very similar vibe, don't they? Right down to the little box bags they were both clutching. The pair are said to have become good friends recently, so they posed together and laughed about their similar outfits. This Acne dress is getting a lot of love from our favourite celebrities. Kylie looks hot in it, doesn't she? She tweeted a picture of her in this dress with the message "Hello Cannes!" as she got ready for her debut at the film festival. Everyone has been looking divine at this year's festival. Top marks, celebrity folk. She's not the first person to wear this £310 Acne dress at Cannes, though. Dr Who? star Karen Gillan wore the dress on a photo shoot in Cannes last week! That was aaaaages ago, Kylie. Perhaps she hasn't been reading the style pages of any papers recently. We love this dress, and have to say that we think Kylie wore it better (just by a margin). It looks fab with her little biker jacket. Is that a slither of leopard print we see on her clutch? Nice touch, Ms Minogue.

It's the perfect amount of sexy glitz and sparkle - everything we want from a red carpet dress. She's not the only one who opted for a gold sequin gown, we think Jessica Chastain looks pretty fabulous in this floor length gold number at the screening of Lawless. Actually, we think this is the best The Help star has ever looked.

So who's rocking the sequins the best? Victoria Beckham has had an amazing transformation since her Spice Girl days. We barely even remember the solo career she tried to launch that went terribly wrong. She's just so damn talented as a fashion designer that sometimes we actually actually forget all about the Zigazigaaaah. Let's mind ourselves of that singing career, shall we? Luckily, she's rather brilliant at designing clothes. We were thrilled when we heard that she might be opening her debut store in London. Woohoo! Now, this isn't just tabloid heresay, fashion royalty Vogue are reporting this, and they know their stitches and seams. Our Vic apparently gets asked about when she's opening up a shop rather a lot: "People say, 'Am I going to have my own store?' I would love to. That's what I'm working on at the moment. It would probably be in London, but in the not-too-distant future maybe it will Hong Kong. Who knows?" Pick London, pick London! We promise if you do we'll come and max out our credit cards. Victoria is actually being rather cautious at the moment. "What I do really is not just focus on the the US or England. I mean there are a lot of territories that are really big for me and Asia is very exciting. I don't want to run before I can walk." She's being really very sensible, but we're so excited about the prospect of having a VB shop in the UK. There's no doubting that Lily Cole has a very unusual look, but it was pretty shocking to read that she was bullied at school for being a redhead. Yep, she's got one of the most famous faces on the planet (and one of the smartest brains) but she had a pretty tough time throughout school. "I was bullied because I have red hair, although actually, I think I was bullied because some kids bully sensitive children" she said when opening up to The Mail on Sunday's Live magazine. "Red hair is an issue, particularly in this country."

Even with all of her success, Lily has had a hard time getting use to being a redhead and the stigma around it. "When I'd meet people, I would think they wouldn't like me - that was an actual thought process - because I'm a redhead. It's absolutely absurd!"

Kate Middleton - Lace back This is a very daring dress for a royal. Where is her bra strap?! This dress is magical for many reasons, but the lace back (and those gorgeous covered buttons) are divine. They're also tricky. Sadly if you're well endowed, you'll struggle with this style. You absolutely can not go braless. It's out of the question if you're anything over a B-cup but you can buy a bra converter from Debenhams which will lower the back strap - it will work for a halterneck as well, as it clips into the bra you want to wear. They're just £6 and you need one in your underwear drawer.

Diane Kruger - One shoulder The one shoulder style should be simple. If you have a bra with detachable straps, you can just remove one, right? In theory, yes. You'll also need a little bit of tit tape on the other side - otherwise you'll spend all night fidgeting. Wear your bra with one strap for a little while before going out - otherwise you'll spend all night pulling up an imaginary strap. Oh, and if you're wondering if transparent straps are OK, they're really not.

Dita Von Teese - Plunging If there's anyone who can pull this look off, it's Dita. It's daring, but it is possible if you've got the right tools in your underwear armoury. Once you've got that right, you'll feel so much more confident about the amount of cleavage you've got on display. It's all about the right support, so invest in a plunging bra. Oh, and you've guessed it: more tip tape, especially if you're wearing a fabric that drapes.

Evan Rachel Wood - White The common mistake is to wear white lingerie under a white dress. It's a massive no-no. It's nude all the way. The closer to your skin tone the better. Nude lingerie doesn't really look very sexy, but it'll make your outfit shine.

Emma Stone: Racer back The racer style used to be difficult, but if you don't want to go strapless there's an easy fix. If you're a teenage girl going to a rock club, a safety pin attaching your straps at the back will do the trick. Otherwise a T-back converter will sort your strap issues. They're £3 from Debenhams and we bet Emma Stone has one on under this dress.

Michelle Williams - Strapless Just like the one shoulder, the strapless dress looks simple but is anything but. If you're wearing the wrong size it will all go wrong. Too big and you'll be hoisting and hoiking all night (and if you're not careful, you're bra will end up around your waist). Too small and you risk the dreaded 'four boob' favoured by Hollyoaks actresses at award shows. Cheryl Cole knows how to make an entrance, doesn't she? Arriving at Cannes Film Festival as L'Oreal's ambassador, there's no denying that her gown, made by Stephane Rowland Haute Couture was a show stopper. The fishtail cut was huge, and Cheryl topped it off with gorgeous hair and accessories. It's the skirt that we're not sure of. The red feathers blend so perfectly into the red carpet, and they're just so... separate from the rest of the dress. The sleek silhouette of the gown's top half is ruined by the red feathers. Or, you could argue that without the red feather train, this dress would be rather dull - a little more soap awards than Cannes. Kate wore this Emilia Wickstead day dress at a Jubilee lunch last week and we have to say, we really like it. It's a different colour for her, and the pleats are gorgeous, aren't they?

This peplum dress got everyone talking. We like it - it's so unlike her, even though we've seen her in blue so many times, this was a little different.

Her favourite accessory - hubby and a brolly. This dress was so popular that it now adorns her waxwork at Madame Tussauds.
