Chicago has been ranked by Forbes as the world's 5th most economically powerful city. Daley</a> who was elected in 1989 and who led the economic development of the city became Chicago's longest serving Mayor. During his tenure, he improved Chicago&nbsp; parks, museums, arts centers, and much more, he also made sustainable development the core of his economic policy.
