Mini Review of Clannad the Second Season

Clannad is a love story about a delinquent who makes friends with a shy classmate, and later chooses to be with her. Clannad was originally a dating sim, so Tomoya chose Nagisa over all of the other girls that went to his school.

The second season was about their life together after Tomoya graduated high school.

There are many ups and downs in their relationship as Tomoya struggles to prove himself to Nagisa's family and as he tries to reconcile with her father. ...And Nagisa wants to have a baby! That's about all I can say without spoiling too much.

Watching Clannad After Story is more of a learning experience than a run of the mill anime. As you may have read in Deretsun's review, "Key" is a very unique studio. Their specialty is known as "Key Magic" or the ability to enhance the dramatic story formula so much that your heart begins to bleed for one or more of all of the characters. So much so that you might have to consult your doctor if you have heart issues, just kidding lol. The ending of Clannad After Story is very heartwrenching. So if you are looking for a learning experience in life, then watch this anime! Just have some kleenex or puffs tissues handy!

Chansu though had some issues with the mechanics of the ending, you know him always analyzing anime like rocket science...

Here is a hilarious quote of Chansu's thoughts about the end of Clannad... It's a spoiler so you'll have to click on to get to it...

The ending was stupid. I don't know which part they "did it with the dream" (had sex in a dream? what?) but they didn't explain jack CRAP. They never truly bridge the gap between the two worlds (like wtf why is Tomoya a robot in that world?) and why is that world really in existence? They make it seem as if they world is just a metaphorical representation of the real world, but in the end Ushio is really some teenage girl in another world? Then that raises the question: Does Ushio even know she's that girl? Is that girl in the other world some kind of sentient pseudo-existence simply trying to propogate itself in the real world by manipulating Tomoya through mass delusion? The fact that I have to even try and guess these things (and that these guesses are even plausible) make the ending stupid. In short: "Deus ex machina".

Key Producer: Hey guys, lets make this shit as SAD AS FRICKING POSSIBLE, KILL THE TODDLER!!!

Key intern: S-sir, if its that sad people will be upset with us...

Producer: Oh shizz, well let's do BEST OF BOTH WORLDS (literally)! Fucking kill the girl, but then have her dream self rewind time with the power of miracles! The city just LOOO000oo000OOVES Tomoya and Nagisa!

Bleach Philosophy Corner

You (the internet) loved my case study on Ulquiorra (an avoidant psychopath with a heart of gold and a penchence for brain washing) the most popular bad guy of the Aizen saga. So I'm going to keep blogging about Bleach, this time about philosophy and maybe psychology too. Chansu, this is not selling out it's good blogging...

So Ichigo's friend Ishida got shanked by a mysterious bad guy with enormous power. And Ichigo, he's weaker than a wet tissue. It seems like everyone else in the show downgraded Ichigo, like our economy got downgraded by S&P. However, in this case they downgraded Ichigo to something like C. Orihime now feels it's ok to make a move on him (or fail to make a move on him), because he's pathetic.

What kind of hero is Tite Kubo making Ichigo out to be in this arc?

He's Kubo's experiment in the underdog archetype. Kubo went for this vibe during the Soul Society arc and that's why we like Bleach. But for real, in this arc Ichigo experiences being a well endowed person but with no real power at all. A lot like you and me. Ok Chansu, not like you or Luffy but this is about Ichigo and Bleach.

He might as well said "Let's walk away so my now-crappy-son doesn't hear us talking about bad things"

Ichigo for the first time in the series experiences the human dilemma. That we might not be strong enough, that our friends will downgrade us, that our parents and mentors will walk away mysteriously, that strange men will ambush our friends, that the girls that like us don't talk about that stalker guy (Orihime...), that our weaker friends will come to the foreground to flaunt their strength (CHAD...), and the list continues. Ichigo is facing the best human dilemma that shounen anime can offer. And it's the best because it offered too much for a shounen anime. Ichigo is practically that person everyone pretends to be nice to because you don't want to hurt his feelings.

But Ichigo is a shounen hero after all. He is an example of what we should do. Keep trying and keep trying again. Trust strange men... Well not that last part. We should keep trying even when we don't know if we can make it. He never lashed out at his friends for downgrading him, he just kinda stayed chill. We can assume that Kubo instilled such a "theory of mind" to Bleach, I hope. I like to believe Ichigo knows he's been downgraded worse than the S&P though Kubo didn't make this crystal clear (he's got to at least try to tell a story by showing and not by spoonfeeding everything to you).

Ichigo kept trying... Why can't we? Resilience is key...

Never use a calling card given to you by a stranger... Unless you're a shounen hero...

L'arc en Ciel Anniversary Film One Time Event Review!

L'arc en Ciel is back and they're going on tour for their 20th anniversary. Their worldwide tour started in Japan at Ajinomoto Stadium. Yes, they are coming to the United States later next year.

They're going to perform in NYC!!!!!!!!!

So I won this contest with animenewsnetwork and go free tickets to see the 20th anniversary kickoff at Ajinomoto Stadium live. I saw it at Empire 25 right in NYC.

You'd think they'd treat me like a contest winner?! It was basically like I won the experience of sneaking into a city movie theatre... But the concert film was pretty cool. It wasn't truly live, it was more like it was filmed on the 29th in Japan and shown in the USA on the 29th. So it's almost like it was live right? It took place at technically the same time and day. That's better than Justin Beiber does when he shows his concert movies in films.

Ever wonder why L'arc en ciel concerts are packed in Japan? Seriously there must have been almost a hundred thousand people there! (at their concert in Japan) Or more!

I only knew a few of the songs they chose for the film. Blurry Eyes, Niji, Ready Steady Go!, and Link
I was disappointed they didn't choose Fourth Avenue Cafe (U.U)p

That was probably done on purpose because there IS going to be a world tour, hitting NYC in March!!! (or April)

Just so you know... Hyde looked more like a person of the fairer kind back in the day... He got more manly and now he's seems like he's going back to the old days....
