The Quezon City Government, in partnership with Gaming Library, begins early preparations for All aBOARD Expo 2026 at Quezon City Hall.

The much-anticipated Expo will take place on May 28-31, 2026 once again at the Quezon City M.I.C.E. Center. As the region’s largest Expo return, it promises to bring more gamers, publishers, partners, and international guests

Registration is now open for six (6) pass types. VIP passes, priced from PHP 1,000 to PHP 5,000, come with exciting perks, including collectible items, exclusive freebies, and board games valued at up to PHP 4,000. Tickets for non-QC residents are PHP 150. Quezon City residents (with valid QC ID or proof of residency) and children aged 12 and below may enter for free. Early registrants until February 28, 2026 will receive an Early Bird Token.

In combat, she can rack up "Hidden MMR" to activate her exclusive Cartridge and enter the "Godmode Player" state. Once active, Silver Wolf pulls both teammates and enemies alike into her own gaming domain, unlocking a "Reward stage" at the start of her turn. During this "Reward stage," she can use her Cartridge to spawn various in-game items, not only shaking up the combat dynamics but also sharing powerful buffs with teammates to turn the tide together.

When "Aha Instant" strikes, Silver Wolf blasts all enemies with a game-crashing laser cannon, dealing massive DMG. On top of that, this hacker from Punklorde has one more trick up her sleeve: when a teammate falls under enemy control, she'll hack into the battlefield — even if she isn't actively in the team — granting allies temporary immunity to control. It's her own special way of keeping the team protected during every battle.

New Character: Evanescia

Next up is Evanescia. Since the start of the Phantasmoon Games, this mysterious girl has always been watching this game's progress as an observer. In fact, as a "Special Observer," Evanescia has participated in far more than just one iteration of the Phantasmoon Games. Because of this, this multi-playthrough player has already witnessed way too many contestants scheming against one another to fight for Wishpower, and watched countless people repeatedly clash on the heels of Aeonic power.

Rather than looking forward to who will become the ultimate champion of the Phantasmoon Games, she pays much more attention to the performance of her favored "protagonist": the Trailblazer. And in the new story, more secrets regarding Evanescia's true identity will also gradually reach a final revelation.

Evanescia Combat Mechanics

Evanescia is a 5-star Physical character following the Path of Elation. In combat, Evanescia can continuously accumulate "Certified Banger" through various means: whether she regenerates Energy, teammates Charge her, or the "Certified Banger" on her teammates changes, she continues to gain "Certified Banger." Whenever Evanescia gains "Certified Banger," she will simultaneously regenerate Energy, allowing her to maintain her DMG rhythm. As "Certified Banger" continues to accumulate, Evanescia's DMG will also gradually increase.

Whenever it reaches a certain number of points, it will additionally trigger an attack from "Master Fox," dealing DMG to all enemies and regenerating Energy for Evanescia. Her Elation Skill can also attack all enemies. While delivering a stylish performance, it will further increase the team's overall DMG.

New Path: The Elation Trailblazer

In addition to the two highly anticipated new characters, the Trailblazer on the Path of Elation will also join the team in Version 4.2. As the Elation Trailblazer's brand-new weapon, the glow stick features a rich variety of uses. When using their Skill, the glow stick transforms into a lightblade as the Trailblazer deals DMG to all enemies and gains "Certified Banger".

Not only that, the glow stick can also turn into nunchucks, unleashing a spectacular flurry of attacks on surrounding enemies and dealing multiple instances of DMG. Beyond that, it can also be used to hype up teammates. When using their Ultimate, the Trailblazer can select a teammate to cheer for. This allows the chosen teammate to gain "Certified Banger" while immediately using their Elation Skill, paving the way for an even more lively combat experience!

Warp Events and Character Reruns

Additionally, a special Warp event will kick off in the first half of Version 4.2. Limited 5-star characters The Dahlia, Castorice, and Firefly will be getting a rerun. Meanwhile, in the Warp event for the second half, limited 5-star characters Tribbie, Sunday, and Feixiao will also have their reruns. On top of that, four existing characters — Firefly, Huohuo, Seele, and Welt — will all be receiving buffs, continuing to provide indispensable help for players on their trailblazing expedition.

New Events and MAPPA Animation Project

Finally, right in time for the 3rd Anniversary of Honkai: Star Rail, a host of exciting events will be arriving alongside the grand festivities. New adventure stories, Elite Dungeons, Abyssal Purgatory, and new exploration areas await! Come experience the brand-new story of the Floating Settlement!

The Lv.70 Epic Co-op Dungeon "Duskfeather Lair" is also unlocked. Solo, Story, Elite, and Legend modes are available for Adventurers of different Power levels. Clear the dungeon for a chance to get rare rewards, including the Blackfeather Taboo Ring, Secret Feather Mask, Lv.65 Epic gear, and more. The first 24 Adventurers on each realm to clear Legend difficulty will unlock an Achievement and receive the exclusive title "Twilight Feathers."

Mentorship System: Share a Path of Growth

The newly launched Mentorship system is designed to promote knowledge sharing and social connections between new and veteran players. Eligible players can form a mentor-apprentice relationship and earn exclusive Attribute bonuses and Enhancement Funds by completing Dungeons and Co-op Dungeons together. Once the relationship reaches Level 3, the apprentice will officially complete their training. The pair can continue to build their relationship up to Level 10 and redeem valuable items in an exclusive shop.

Gear System Upgrade: Inscribe Your Legend

The new Gear Inscription system helps Adventurers boost their Power more easily. Lv.65+ Epic gear will randomly possess 1-3 Inscription slots, with specific Inscription types for different parts. Inscriptions can be freely removed and embedded, allowing for flexible and personalized builds.

25 Years of Cosplay Series: So, what have we learned?

We are now at the final stretch of the Philippine cosplay's 25th year. There's only one question that I wanted to ask each and every one who participated in this community.

"Have we learned anything?"

No, really. Have we learned anything from the past 25 years?

Did anything change between 2000 and 2010? How about between 2015 and 2025?

What lessons did we get from the first five years? From Alodiamania? From the various cosplayer scandals? From the online conventions of the COVID-19 era? From the fanservice fad of 2022?

You already get the point. After everything we've been through as a community, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

In short, we did not learn that much from the past.

We still have the same old problem with convention spaces. I don't know the situation in Visayas and Mindanao, but us here in Luzon? We're still beholden to the almighty behemoth that is the SMX Convention Center.

Just this Cosplay Matsuri, while I was heading towards the event, I passed by the World Trade Center. You know what events the WTC used to hold? Nothing much, just the Hataw! Hanep! Hero! series. What I'm saying here is that the major cosplay event organizers should look outside of SMX.

Other than that, it seems that the community itself hasn't learned from the controversies of the past. We still have perverts and pedophiles roaming around convention halls. Unscrupulous MTO stores are still active. Hell, we still have people posting their personal issues in public!

"You're so negative!" you might say while reading this article. I get it. I might've gotten a bit more cynical about the state of this community after 14 years. The negative things that have been there since 2011 are still there in 2025.

Do I expect things to radically change in 2026? No, not really. Unless divine intervention happens, we will still face the same problems until the end of time.

Anything positive that the "coscom" did, you might ask. I say yes, the cosplay community did some positive things throughout the past 25 years.

First and foremost, the cosplay community adopted multiple niche communities into its circle. From tabletop gamers to wrestling fans, the anime cosplay community accepted them into the fold.

They were also the ones who let idol groups perform on stage. Due to the initial success of MNL48, multiple idol groups came out of the woodwork. You know who gave them the platform to showcase their talents and hone their craft? The "coscom."

Cosplayers also tried reaching out to the outside world through various means. They do hospital visits, donation drives, and other acts of goodwill. They also appeared on media guestings such as various game shows, radio interviews, and such.

Also, within the past 25 years, and largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, new event organizers sprang up. Each organizer also brought with them unique ideas and concepts. One of them would be Joey Josh Leonard's "Idol Rock Pro" that would bring a mix of rock and pop with their first "Aidoru Rokku" back in March.

See? Not all the things I see in the community are negative. The otakusphere can and still generate positive vibes every now and then.

If there is any single lesson that we, as a community, can take away from this, it's that we have survived on passion, but it's not enough for us to thrive. Yes, we have changed some things for the better, like the abundance of smaller regional events, and we gave these smaller idol groups a stage to perform on.

However, as I've said earlier, the problems that were prevalent back when I was still a coscom virgin are still there. In fact, it might've gotten worse after the pandemic. Maybe we need to ramp up the self-policing in this space.

Anyways, thank you for tuning in to my quarterly series about the 25 years our cosplay community had endured. Mabuhay ang coscom!

Currently in development for PC, Gods, Death & Reapers is a free-to-play ExtrAction RPG that throws players into a brutal blend of high-stakes Extraction and Hack-and-Slash gameplay. Players take on the role of ‘Reapers’ under the command of Death himself, journeying into the fantastical worlds of mythology to quell the chaos left behind in the wake of their gods’ abandonment.

The sanctuary is the players’ hidden base where they prepare their gear before entering dangerous battlegrounds. Every run is a gamble: outfight deadly enemies, survive PvPvE clashes and escape with loot. But the stakes are high: death means losing everything players carried. 25 Years of Cosplay Series: Remembering the Trends That Shaped the Community

Hello, and welcome to the third entry in the "25 Years of Cosplay" series. In this series, we look back at what has happened in the Philippine cosplay scene for the past quarter and a half of a century. Today, we'll examine the trends that have emerged within the community.

Note, this is not a comprehensive history of all the trends that entered this community. This is a recollection of the things I saw from my own memories as a congoer, as well as some historical pieces.

This might also be the entry in this series with the least amount of pictures, since we're talking about 25 years of events here. So not everything has been archived, thus no photographic proof.

The peak of the late 1990s anime boom coincided with the birth of the cosplay scene. Thus, the early years of Philippine cosplay felt like the wild, wild west. There was no single anime or video game that occupied the cosplay community.

By 2003, the seeds of what would become Alodiamania were sown when she and her sister, Ashley, gained popularity, thanks to the now-famous issue of Culture Crash Comics.

While the community itself is still in its infancy, the "cosplay celebrity" was born. From this small starting point, the "G sisters" gave birth to people like Myrtle Gail Sarrosa, Jin Joson, Chie Filomeno, and others.

Out of all the trends, I'd say that this is the one with the longest-lasting effect. Even now, we still have cosplay celebrities like Megara, Prince De Guzman, and others.

Once the 2010s came, the cosplay community started to become more uniform in thinking. As such, the habit of cosplaying characters from trendy seasonal anime became commonplace. In 2012, it was Sword Art Online, and in 2015, Tokyo Ghoul.

At this time, cosplay event organizers started to attract famous people outside the cosplay community and into the larger anime community as guests. In 2015, Cosplay Mania would host Eriko Hori, more commonly known as "Pile", as one of their JAM Concert performers. Pile's celebrity status was in part due to the popularity of the LoveLive franchise. Thus, Cosplay.ph saw the opportunity to have her perform in the Philippines.

After Pile, several other major organizers followed suit. An infamous example of this trend would be Ozine's Otaku Expo 2017 event. This was the convention where the Inabas (via TokuSpirits) would bring anison legends Mitsuko Horie and Takayuki Miyauchi into the Philippines. You can read more about the incident here:

In the tail end of the 2010s, the community would see two things that would shape the way things go moving forward: kabedons and Genshin Impact.

Let's talk about the kabedon one first. By 2019, cosplayers started selling some services. This stopped during the two-and-a-half-year pandemic. Then, when in-person events came back, so did these fan services.

While some congoers (who are mostly gooners) really enjoyed these kinds of services, others did not, as most events in the Philippines cater to the general public. There were even some calls to attention from this sector of the community, urging organizers to help put a stop to this.

This trend sort of died a natural death by 2024, as the birth of SPICE EroCon somehow led to fanservice not being a thing at other events. Granted, some people still do this, but unlike in 2022, the number of cosplayers offering these services is minuscule compared to three years ago.

On the other hand, after it launched in 2019, Genshin Impact took the local cosplay community by storm. A lot of cosplayers jumped onto the Genshin bandwagon, and this whole fad lasted not just for one year, but three-and-a-half years! So much so that this meme was born:

The post-pandemic boom also gave rise to the "indie idol" scene in the community. Out of the ashes of MNL48's pre-reboot influence, groups such as Mju:z Kiss, DNE, Niko Lab, and others became popular amongst the congoing crowd. They have integrated themselves as performers for cosplay events.

It's not just local idol groups and solo performers like Rai and Chaeri Ichigo who are enjoying this idol boom. Japanese chika idol groups like Starmarie and Fairytales visit the Philippines to enjoy the festivities and perform here as well.

Once the post-pandemic cosplay boom ended, things sort of went back to what it was...at least. Nowadays, the most popular fad seems to revolve around either DanDaDan or Uma Musume. What new trend or fad would surpass both Okarun, Momo, and Gold Ship? Only time can tell.

Half-Elf – Archer (Bow / Crossbow): Agile ranged fighters with deadly accuracy and rapid firepower.
Dhan – Assassin (Katar / Dagger): Stealth killers who excel in ambushes and lethal precision strikes.
Dekan – Dragon Fighter (Zhen / Charr): Dragon-blooded warriors who transform in battle to unleash overwhelming strength.

Other Features of R.O.H.A.N.2 Global

In addition, R.O.H.A.N.2 Global introduces a new economic structure called Rohanomics, built on the CROSS Ecosystem. Rohanomics is designed as a player-driven system where in-game resources naturally circulate through gameplay activities, providing a dynamic and sustainable in-game economy for all adventurers.

At the heart of this system is RUBY, the essential growth currency of R.O.H.A.N.2. Early Access sales of RUBY have already generated explosive demand, with initial rounds selling out rapidly and the next round set to open soon. First Look at Garena Free Fire Anime, Featuring A Teaser Visual and Trailer

Garena Online Private Limited and KADOKAWA CORPORATION have revealed the first look at the anime adaptation of Garena Free Fire, a popular mobile game developed and published by Garena.

Both the teaser visual and trailer showcase the dynamic movement of Kelly, one of Garena Free Fire’s most iconic characters and the central protagonist of the anime adaptation. In this thrilling prologue, the trailer viewers follow Kelly as she and her allies uncover a hidden conspiracy lurking beneath the surface of a seemingly peaceful universe.

Key members of the production team have also been announced. The series will be directed by Ken Takahashi, renowned for his work as Animation Director on Ragna Crimson and Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya. Production will be handled by studio CANDY BOX, the studio behind Blue Archive The Animation and Azur Lane Bisoku: Zenshin!.

The music will be produced by Sus4 Inc, acclaimed for their work on Ragna Crimson and Jackie Chan & Clair’s Peace of the World. The trailer features the anime’s theme song, which thoughtfully reimagines a signature melody from Garena Free Fire. This familiar tune amplifies the high-octane action sequences and strikes a chord among fans of the battle royale game.

The Garena Free Fire anime adaptation is being produced by a Japanese anime production studio with KADOKAWA QINGYU — KADOKAWA's overseas branch — as its production manager. The completed animation will be broadcast and streamed worldwide.
