Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT

Under general supervision and following established procedures, assure the quality of service and monitoring for patients undergoing anesthesia in all anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital. 3. Conducts performance tests, performs calibration and first level repairs (i.e. battery changes, cable swapping, monitor checks) of anesthesia equipment.
4. Prepares blood pressure transducers. Calibrates them to the appropriate machine. Sets up IV solutions and IV infusions.
5. Sets up equipment for use in the work area such as, but not limited to, connecting input and output hoses, bronchoscopes, and assembling breathing circuits. Delivers required anesthesia equipment as needed.
6. Troubleshoots routine problems with equipment in OR during use, repairing or replacing as necessary.
7. Assist the Clinical Engineering group with various projects, including machine modification and data accumulation.

5. General housekeeping duties throughout the area, i.e.:fill solutions in warmers and sink dispensers empty trash and linen hampers, restock blankets, gowns and brushes in containers mop floors when required. Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT

Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling of patient care equipment, supplies, and instruments according to established procedures and techniques. Responsible for distribution of instrumentation, processed and/or disposable supplies to patient care areas and to OR, via a Case Cart System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receives, cleans, and decontaminates soiled instruments using detergents, disinfecting solutions and washer sterilizers.
2. Disposes of contaminated trash and/or linen.
3. Handles contaminated items from the OR or patient floors using universal precautions.
4. Performs daily maintenance on major sterilization equipment.
5. Operates major sterilization equipment.
6. Wraps, dates, and sterilizes all instruments and specialty items for distribution throughout the hospital.
7. Inspects linen.
8. Documents sterilization criteria for Quality Control chart, i.e. correct pressure and temperature.
9. Assembles minor instrument sets.
10. Responds to OR needs via telephone, documents request and follows through with distribution of items requested.
11. Setting up Case Carts for surgical procedures on a routine and emergency basis.
12. Stocking shelves with supplies and instruments.
13. Works within the hospital and departmental policies relating to hospital safety and infection control.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or GED.

One to two years Central Processing experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good eye to hand coordination.

A sound understanding of the English language.

Ability to think quickly and use sound judgment.

Good interpersonal relation skills.

Ability to work well under extreme pressure and stress.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/JOB CONDITIONS:

The job involves a large amount of time spent walking and standing. The job also involves routine lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The job involves routine lifting contact with caustic materials used in cleaning and disinfection, infectious material, pressured steam equipment, and Ethylene Oxide, which is regulated by the EPA.

There is a high level of noise, heat, and humidity due to the sterilization process.

Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
An auxiliary person who has the necessary role of augmenting the care given by others to the patients in the (OR, PACU). Major functions include, but are not limited to: patient transport, cleaning and stocking of area. Works under the direction of the nursing and administrative personnel in assigned work areas and is ultimately responsible to the supervisor of PCA in OR or the nurse director in Labor andamp; Birth.

Promotes a philosophy of patient/family focused care through cordial greeting and interactions with patient, families and hospital personnel. Provides hospital/unit orientation information for guest, patients and families. Demonstrates an awareness of hospital systems and procedures, location of all departments, treatment areas and other patient services. Refers patients, families and others to appropriate resources.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Transport patient to and from the area, properly identifies patients, aware of special procedures and of special precautions in transferring patients in isolation.
2. Assists in the transfer of patients to and from stretchers and beds. Ensures safety and support measures in patient transfer, i.e., bedrails raised, patient covered with blanket and warm, beds cleaned between patients.
3. Knows special procedures application regarding specialized equipment and instrumentation, i.e., fracture table preparation.
4. Cleans rooms between procedures with speed and effectiveness. Anticipates procedure completion in advance and has supplies ready for immediate cleaning. Has knowledge of special cleaning procedures for certain situations, i.e., MRSA.
5. General housekeeping duties throughout the area, i.e.:fill solutions in warmers and sink dispensers empty trash and linen hampers, restock blankets, gowns and brushes in containers mop floors when required. (Mops and buckets should be prepared at all times) keep all areas cleaned and free of trash and debris.
6. Knows procedures specific to each area, (i.e., Day Surgery and PACU).
7. Additional O.R. Duties; Helps to hold limbs and position patients as requested. Performs all messenger/escort activities for the area, i.e., blood pick ups, laboratory deliveries.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be able to read, write and understand English for purpose of communication and carrying
out assignments.
2. Prior hospital experience preferred but not required.
3. Personal attributes such as team spirit, dependability, initiative and ability to accept direction are necessary.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1. Work requires 2-4 weeks orientation to routine duties and specific duties of varied areas.
2. Must be aware of safety standards and hazards in room.
3. Must have knowledge of special procedures in caring for patients on isolation.

4 . Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.
5. Must posses interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with other health care members
6. Work requires intense physical effort, walking long distances, lifting heavy supplies, pushing carts and beds, lifting patients.
7. Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines of following cases.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Works in a busy area with a high stress atmosphere.
2. Works in an area with some physical discomforts due to unpleasant odors and high noise level.
3. Work requires potential exposure to cuts on hands and fingers from needles and blades.
4. Work is underground with no windows or exposure to light.
5. Works in a patient care environment where there is some exposure to communicable disease, and in some areas sealed sources of radiation and radioisotopes.
Shift: Evening Shift.

Every Other Weekend Coverage Required.
