Starting my own fashion Instagram + some thoughts/advice

2015-05-18T11:07:00.002-07:00

In late January after much hesitation, I decided to take a leap of faith into the new year with the creation of my very first fashion Instagram. And might I say, it was the best decision I have ever made. Fashion for me has always been a creative outlet, and being able to play with any texture, color, and pattern allows me to establish my own kind of style, but also tweak it as well.

The coolest thing about starting a fashion Instagram for me was that I was able to treat it as if I was painting on a blank canvas, adding a new brushstroke with each new post.

In the world of fashion, the way I see it is, if you want to make a name for yourself, you have to be brave enough to put yourself out there, despite whatever kind of criticism comes your way. In many ways, my fashion Instagram, as well as my blog act as my personal contribution to the fashion world, and I hope to learn more about what having 'a passion for fashion' truly means to me.

So, my life advice for you guys would be this: Do what makes you happy on the inside, not the outside, and take risks, even if they scare you a bit. The thought of my own fashion Instagram scared me a bit, but what makes me incredibly happy is being able to express my creativity through fashion, and at the end of the day, that makes it all worth it.

Until next time my fashionistas,

XOXO,

Maddie Claire

Paris Fall Fashion Week 2012

2012-08-27T12:45:00.001-07:00

Ah, yes. Paris Fashion Week, my favorite time of the year to ogle over some of the most exciting (and sometimes, outrageous) fashion ever seen! Here is a mixture of photos both on and off the runway.

Biker chic

<3 the sailor blue pants

color-block skirt + oversize bag = perfection

Perfect, casual look

Bright pop of color for fall

Marie Antoinette meets 21st century

Never too early to bust out that fur coat!

Floral-y fall

Don't mess with me... I'm in Chanel

Perfect tone for fall: a warm, furry vest and black leather skinnies

I'm feelin' the blues

Sheer white lace... yum

Snakeskin high waisted paints!? Yes, please

Gotta love plain black

Gold... ready to rock it

Oversized scarf for Fall with a great colored sweater

Everyone needs a little pink in their life ;)

Leather and tan, you make a wonderful couple

Watch out!

Simple

As I like to say, Bling-A-Licious

Royal blue + embroidery = majestic

Spotted again. The pink pants are taking over

Would I wear this? Yes, yes I would!

Textured and trim

This dress reminds me of a jewelry box... ahhhhhh.

Sparkly, high-shoulder blazer... GENIUS

This pattern is go-go for ga ga

Fawn in a forest

Well, hoped you like all of the my favorite looks from the Paris 2012 Fall Fashion Week!

Chloé Fall RTW

2012-06-22T08:11:00.001-07:00

In Chloé's 2012 Fall Ready-to-Wear Collection, the mix of both English and French fashion made for a truly fantastic collection. With the informal vibe of English sportswear and the very formal, French style, my excitement for Fall has begun. In my opinion, what made the collection were the coats, particularly the peace bomber jacket and the long peach duffel coat, Oh how chic! I also fell in love with the use of lace throughout the collection; from a sleeveless lace top with a simple, high-waisted, below-the-knee skirt, to a simple, collared, drop-waist t-shirt dress, with a below-the-knee lace skirt. All in all, Clare Waight Keller was able to set a simplistic, dressy tone for Fall. I am thrilled to see her next collection!

Well Hello there...

2012-01-20T07:30:00.000-08:00

Hello All! Sorry for not posting for the past couple months...things have gotten a little bit more busy around here.

I wanted to talk about a book that I recently got for Christmas, called Parisian Chic-A Style Guide by lnes de la Fressange and Sophie Gachet. This book has undoubtedly changed the way I think about the Parisian style, and everything else that comes with it. It gives all the good scoop on stores in Paris, the key elements to dressing "comme une française chic", numerous beauty tips from a true Parisian woman, and lastly, how to transform your home into a Parisian château. So, if you are French-obsessed like me, and want to know the ways of the Parisian style, I highly recommend this book! Watch out "les mecs français"! ;)

Fashion Photo #33- The French Style

2011-11-26T15:50:00.000-08:00

French style has always been a big part of where my fashion inspiration stems from. It is easy-going, with a hint of chic and a little dash of edge. I have been to Paris only twice, but from what I observed, Parisians never hesitate to let their unique styles run free in the city of lights. So, here is a collection of my favorite photos that capture the elegance and simplicity of "le style français"!

Fall Trends- Fur Vests

2011-09-03T08:27:00.000-07:00

Finally, the season that I have been awaiting all summer long is here! Fall time is one of my favorite seasons, I just love watching the leaves change color on the trees and going for walks with my dogs on crisp, cool sunny days. Day before yesterday, I was talking to my grandmothers best friend, who also happens to be quite the fashionista herself (hello to one of my favorite people in the world!), and we were talking about trends for this upcoming fall season. One of the trends that we were discussing was fur vests. Fur vests have always been a funky trend that I have loved ever since I bought my first one from Gap Kids in 5th grade. I wore it almost every single day until it was time to put it back in the storage box for the next Fall/Winter.

Recently, I have seen many designers and models taking full advantage of this hip Fall/Winter staple, dressing up a casual, printed above-the-knee dress, or adding that perfect, chic touch to a long-sleeved, slouchy t-shirt with skinny jeans and riding boots. Fur vests are especially wonderful during the Fall/Winter because they keep you super warm and cozy. Just add some bold jewelry, like a long, gold necklace or some chunky earrings, and you will instantly be transformed into one stylish eskimo!

Well, I think it's time for me to start my search for a new fur vest! Wish me luck!

Any thoughts on this fabulous Fall trend?

Until next time!

Maddie Claire

Celeb Look of the Day- Marion Cotillard

2011-09-02T07:47:00.000-07:00

Marion Cotillard is probably one of my favorite French actresses of all time. She is also extremely "élégante et trés chic". She was wearing a Chanel Haute Couture dress at the Bafta Awards, where she received the Leading Actress award.
Any thoughts on this look?

Celeb Look of the Day- Whitney Port

2011-08-14T12:43:00.000-07:00

This is probably one of my favorite looks on Whitney. I really love how she took full advantage of the length of her maxi skirt and turned it into something that still looks super fashionable. I also really love her Vince top*, it makes her entire outfit pop! Of course, her jewels are amazing as always and her shoes wonderfully complete the entire ensemble. I am in love with this casual-chic outfit!

What do you guys think?

XOXO,

Maddie Claire

TRAVEL TRAVEL TRAVEL

2011-08-14T09:38:00.000-07:00

Hello my dears! Sorry for not being good about posting recently, but today is a very exciting topic for me... TRAVEL! As most of my viewers and followers might know, I have a huge case of the travel bug, and let me tell you, it's not going away anytime soon! Travel for me is something very special, it's an opportunity to experience things you've never experienced before and really feel what it's like to live and be a part of a completely different culture ( I know that that statement is so ridiculously cliché, but it's so true haha). Alright, moving away from my "travel bug rant", the point of this post was to talk about places where I haven't yet traveled and would love to go to! So, here they are...

THAILAND

JAPAN

CHINA

INDONESIA

INDIA

SPAIN

GERMANY

RUSSIA

POLAND

What are some places that you guys would want to travel to? I would love to know!

XOXO,

Maddie Claire (The travel-obsessor)

Guess what's back...

2011-08-06T11:24:00.000-07:00

Alright ladies, time to set your leather bomber jackets aside and bust out those denim jackets! This summer, denim jackets have taken over, as one of the most popular go-to fashion statements. This "blast from the past" trend has been seen on models and celebs everywhere, with feminine styles to make the look more edgy, or just simple street styles to make the look casual. Earlier this summer, I bought a classic jean jacket from Urban Outfitters, and I have been wearing it non-stop, with basically everything in my wardrobe.
So, if you do not own a denim jacket, I highly suggest that you invest in one because it is an easily versatile (there I go again haha), wearable, wardrobe staple that you will have in your closet forever. It will always be in style.
Here are some pics of celebs and models sporting this awesome trend.Pictures from style.com

My Two Favorite Bags this Season!

2011-08-01T12:15:00.000-07:00

Hello! I was just in Barney's the other day and I was looking through some magazines, and I found two really great bags that I thought were great!

First of all, I'm very happy to announce that the classic Coach bag is back and the fashion world is going bananas! (YIPEE SKIPEE, I'M SO EXCITED!) Lucky Magazine writes: "Coach recently reissued five of its most popular designs from the 1970's for a limited, exclusive run on net-a-porter.com, including many other swinging shoulder minis", so my Oui- Oui-Très-Chouetter's, don't miss this awesome opportunity! The leather Coach bag (IN THE PICTURE BELOW) is selling for $298, but in my opinion, it is completely worth it!

lovely ;)

This next bag that I absolutely adore is the Diego Bucket Bag by Alexander Wang. I was looking through Vogue and I spotted a picture of Vanessa Hudgens sporting this amazing bag in black. I also saw it at Barney's the other day and had an absolute fashion-gasm over it! The gold studs on the bottom of the bag make the bag itself a lot more edgy, which I really love!

Until next time!

Maddie Claire
