I know only one song by them which is 'When You Look Me In The Eyes' and I'm not really impressed. I might have heard more but that's about it.

These cute-looking brothers have it all: nice voices, cute, innocent and dreamy looks, TV shows, and even movies. The male versions of Lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana.

I mean, all these shows are almost the same. I don't see any difference between Lizzie and Hannah. It's just the time factor, probably. During my time, the Lizzie show was popular. But as Lizzie grew older, the younger teeny-boppers didn't have anyone around their age to look up to and that's where Hannah Montana comes in. I wonder who'll be the next one.

But I'm in awe of the Jonas Brothers. Not only do the girls like them but also the guys. University guys, to be more specific! I couldn't believe it. 20-year-old guys, still fans of teeny-bopper boybands.

Really. I expected them to have more mature taste.

Emma

Emma’s my favourite story by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice isn’t that bad either but it’s probably because I enjoy watching the Emma movie even more. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Emma.

Emma Woodhouse is rich, smart, and loves playing matchmaker. Her governess, Miss Taylor recently got married and so it’s only Emma and her father in their huge house. Mr. Knightley (Jeremy Northam), Emma’s brother-in-law, visits them occasionally. He is the brother of Emma’s sister’s husband. He frequently advises Emma and warns Emma when she takes things too far.

Since Miss Taylor can’t spend much time with Emma anymore, she has acquired a new friend, Harriet Smith (Toni Collette from The Sixth Sense). Harriet doesn’t know who her parents are but she’s under the care of a Mrs. Godard. Ignoring Mr. Knightley’s warnings, Emma goes on to try to match make Harriet and the preacher, Mr. Elton (Alan Cumming). Unbeknownst to Emma, Mr. Elton was actually falling for her.

Harriet has another admirer, Mr. Martin, but Emma does not approve of him because he’s only a farmer. She thinks that Harriet deserves a better guy. Not wanting to upset Emma, Harriet listens to Emma and rejects Mr. Martin when he asked her to marry him!

I really, really love this movie! Gwyneth Paltrow is fantastic as Emma. I’ve always thought that Paltrow is an English actress but she’s actually American. She has the English look, that’s why she’s always playing the roles of English women.

All the same, I also enjoy watching the interactions between Emma and Mr. Knightley. I wanted to look out for secret glances between them to see how their relationship developed. Northam was also perfect as Mr. Knightley. They are now officially my favourite couple from books and movies.

The Secret Garden

All I can say is that this is a beautiful movie about magic and friendship. Sounds cheesy I know but it’s true. This movie can’t go anymore wrong except for some parts though. Mary Lennox (Kate Maberly) is a memorable character, without any doubt.

Mary Lennox tells her story of how she grew up in India without any love or attention from her parents. She can’t even dress herself and she’s ten years old. When an earthquake hit India, killing her parents too, she’s sent to England to live at her uncle’s manor called Misselthwaite Manor. The housekeeper, Mrs. Medlock, played by Maggie Smith arrives late to pick Mary up. She calls Mary a “queer, unresponsive little thing”. Poor Mary.

At the manor, the maid, Martha, with an interesting Scottish accent takes care of Mary. Mary also makes friends with Martha’s younger brother, Dickon (Andrew Knott). Mary also tells Dickon about the secret garden, which she found and together, they made it grow into a beautiful, colourful garden again.

Meanwhile, Mary accidentally found her cousin, Colin (Heydon Prowse), who has spent his whole life (ten years) in bed. I think he’s never tried to walk before. He’s adamant that he’s bound to die eventually and seems pessimistic. This makes Mary rather irritated with his behavior and she shows him that she won’t stand for any of his nonsense.

Like what I said earlier, it’s a story of friendship, magic, the discovery of a garden, family, love, etc. You’ll also find the song, “Winter Light” sung by Linda Ronstadt soothing and calming. Well, it’s soothing for me!

This is the 1993 film version.

The Life of David Gale

Tonight, I watched another disturbing movie. How come I managed to picked them to watch, I have no idea. I was just going through the stack of DVDs and randomly selected the ones that I haven’t watched yet.

So, this movie is about a man who’s been given the death sentence for raping and murdering a woman. What’s ironic is that this man, David Gale (Kevin Spacey), a seemingly intelligent lecturer, is very well against the death penalty in Texas. And now he’s being charged for murder of a woman whom he knows. She’s also passionate about the protest against death sentences.

Just a few days before his execution, David Gale has agreed to do an interview with a journalist, Bitsie (Kate Winslet) from a prominent magazine. She and an intern set out to interview the guy. Well, she does the interview while her intern scours around looking for further clues.

While Gale relates his story to Bitsie, she soon discovers that he’s actually innocent of the crime of which he had been accused of. Now they’re running out of time and she’s determined to find out as much as she can so that she can prove Gale innocent in time before his execution.

It’s a really suspense-filled movie with a shocking ending. I was relieved to know that it’s a fictional movie. I thought there was a real David Gale who did what the Gale character in the movie had done!

The Magdalene Sisters

It sounds like a rather innocent title but then I should have given it more thought. Magdalene? It should ring a bell. Magdalene actually refers to Mary Magdalene, the prostitute who washed Jesus’ feet. I thought this movie was about sisters who probably came from a Magdalene family! How wrong I was.

This movie was thoroughly disturbing. On the cover of the DVD, it was written that it’s based on true events. Well, until I checked Wikipedia, I thought the four main woman characters were real women. They’re actually fictional but what happened to them at the Magdalene Asylum was true. In fact, the treatment at the real asylum was much worse than what was depicted in the film.

Anyway, it’s about four women who are considered as ‘fallen women’ because they aren’t ‘pure’ anymore. Margaret, who I think looks kind of like a smart girl, was raped by her cousin at a wedding. Bernadette, an orphan, is always flirting with boys. Rose gave birth to an illegitimate baby. Crispina gave birth to a baby out of wedlock too. Notice their similarities? They’re connected with men in one way or another but it’s them who have to suffer for it. That was during the 1960s in Ireland.

When I say that the movie was disturbing, it was literally disturbing. I felt uncomfortable and fidgety while watching it. I couldn’t stand the cruelty the girls received at the asylum. They were treated like scum, humiliated, bullied by the nuns, and even one girl was forced to ‘do a job’ for a priest.

I’m glad to know that the last Magdalene asylum was closed in 1996.

Edward Scissorhands

I absolutely love the haunting sound effects in this movie. You know, those ohhh, ahhh being sung by some choir or something. I first watched this when I was a small kid and was just intrigued with the guy who had scissors for hands.

Now that I’m older and understanding more things, I noticed the contrast being used in the movie. Did you notice the bright and cheery colours in the neighbourhood, from the houses to the people’s clothes? Then, Edward’s mansion is dark, gloomy, just enveloped in some sort of blackness. Even Edward (Johnny Depp) was dressed in black. Why was the contrast being used?

This movie is about a man, Edward, who was created by an inventor. The old inventor died before he could give Edward a pair of hands so he had to be content with scissor-hands. One day, an Avon saleswoman, Peg finds Edward all alone in his mansion. She then invites him back home and kinds of adopt him.

At first everyone in town was curious in the new, strange guy. He became popular immediately because of his talent at cutting bushes, dog’s hair, and people’s hair artistically and fashionably. You could say that he’s a creative guy.

Edward also falls in love with Peg’s teenage daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder). She behaves awkwardly toward him at first but then develops an understanding of Edward’s feelings. Kim’s boyfriend was also constantly making fun and bullying Edward. This makes things worse for Edward who’s just gullible.

A touching and poignant movie directed by Tim Burton.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. I’ll definitely never get bored of watching it and enjoying the jokes in it. I highly recommend this movie to people who like Robin Hood or just like English history. I’m not sure if Robin Hood really existed?

Kevin Costner is Robin Hood and some critics said that his attempt at speaking English without an American accent was pathetic. Huh, I didn’t notice that in the movie. He performed really well as the prince of thieves.

I also enjoy watching Morgan Freeman as Azeem or Great One, which is the meaning of his name! Azeem is Muslim while Robin Hood and the other English people are Christians. Although the Holy War was going on, Azeem and Robin Hood understood and trusted each other. Because Robin Hood saved Azeem from prison which they were in together, Azeem has vowed that he will save Robin’s life in future. That’s how they’re always with each other.

Of course there’s a love story in it too. Robin falls for his childhood friend, Marian, whose hair Robin burned when they were kids. Robin also has to fight off the Sheriff who desires to gain more power and also to take over King Richard’s throne. The Sheriff also had his eyes on Marian. So, she has two men fighting over her but it’s obvious that she prefers Robin more.

It’s a tremendously exciting and fulfilling movie. You’ll enjoy every minute of it! Oh, and do check out Alan Rickman’s performance as the power-crazy Sheriff! Quite different from his role as Professor Snape in Harry Potter, eh?

Hearts In Atlantis

At the beginning, we see Bobby Garfield receiving an old baseball glove in the post and later attends a funeral. He also finds out that Carol is already dead and seems really upset to hear about it. After that, we see a flashback of Bobby’s life when he was 11 years old.

Bobby (Anton Yelchin) and his two best friends, Carol and Sully enjoy having adventures and going to the fair together. Bobby’s life also changes when they have a new boarder to live in his house. An old man with paper bags to put his stuff in. This makes Bobby’s mom (Hope Davis) suspicious of Ted Brautigan (Anthony Hopkins) but Bobby is friendly with him and even earns a dollar a week just by reading newspapers and looking out for the bogeyman.

Bobby’s mom keeps telling him that his father was useless and only left them a lot of unsettled debts. But was Bobby’s dad as bad as that or was he something else?

This movie was based on Stephen King’s book. So you can expect something extraordinary especially with Ted and also Bobby! Anthony Hopkins was brilliant as usual playing the character of an unusual man.

I’ll also look out for the book.

Movie Review: August Rush

All right, where do I start with this movie? I thought that most of it didn’t make any sense at all!

Evan Taylor (Freddie Highmore) lives in an orphanage and he claims that he can hear the music in almost everything. He also believes that he will find his parents again. If they don’t find him, he’ll set out to find them himself. The other boys in the orphanage are aghast with his peculiarity but he remains firm with what he believed in.

Then, we will watch a flashback of what happened 11 years ago. Lyla Novacek (Keri Russell) is a gifted cellist while Louis (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is a singer in a band. They happened to meet at a party on a rooftop and slept with each other. After that, due to unforeseen circumstances, they never see each other again. Lyla becomes pregnant and is constantly being pressured by her strict father to give up the baby. Later when the baby was born, Lyla’s father gave the baby up for adoption without her knowing. Instead, he told her that the baby did not survive.

Louis, on the other hand, has no clue of all the drama in Lyla’s life. He is miserable in his own life too, being unhappy that he couldn’t meet Lyla again. After that, he stopped singing and took up another job where he got to wear expensive suits and ride in expensive cars. He found a new girlfriend too, Jen (Becki Newton) but apparently doesn’t tell her much about himself.

And then back to the present. Evan finally decides to run away from the orphanage in search for his parents. He then meets Arthur who was singing on the streets and tells Arthur that he has no place to stay. Arthur brings Evan back to Wizard (Robin Williams), an eccentric man who loves music too. Wizard then makes Evan change his name to August Rush because it sounds better than plain Evan Taylor. He was probably afraid that somebody might find Evan and bring him back to the orphanage.

Now this kinds of reminds me of Oliver Twist! Instead of picking pockets and bringing the money back to Fagin, the kids in Wizard’s clan perform in the streets and bring back their earnings to him.

Now why did I say that this movie doesn’t make sense? First, Lyla and Louis barely knew each other. They were already sucking face after less than ten minutes of knowing each other. After their one night stand, they still can’t forget each other and you can see that they haven’t really moved on in their lives. They were still pining for each other.

Secondly, wow, is Evan really that talented? He has possibly never seen any music notes in his life but after a brief music lesson, he managed to compose something magnificent. Okay, so he’s a child prodigy but that was quite hard to believe. Anyway, that scene was interesting, where he was writing out music notes as if that’s what he did every day when it was actually his first time.

I still enjoyed this film despite its ridiculous storyline. Rhys Meyers is gorgeous. Girls will enjoy looking at him. He also sings in the movie! Yeah, a chance for you to drool over him. Freddie Highmore was quite okay as young Evan Taylor and as a weirdo who loses himself in the music he hears most of the time.

But I was disappointed that they didn’t show what happened to Arthur and Wizard in the end. The movie ended way too soon. They should at least have told us what Arthur and Wizard have become.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

So, this is one of the few movies where Johnny Depp acts as a normal guy. You can see how good-looking he is in this movie! He acted in this film when he was younger. So far, the Johnny Depp movies that I’ve watched were Edward Scissorhands, Secret Window, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sleepy Hollow, Chocolat, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Almost in all those movies, his characters were odd and unusual.

So, Depp is Gilbert Grape in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”. What’s eating the guy, huh? He thinks his life is a complete misery. He has 3 other siblings. The youngest brother (Leonardo DiCaprio), Arnie, is a bit mentally-challenged and needs to be watched most of the time. If not, he’ll always be up to no good and get into trouble. For example, he loves to climb a water tower somewhere in their neighbourhood and the police will come to persuade him to come back down. DiCaprio played the Arnie character really well! That was when he was much younger too.

Gilbert’s mother is also obese and eats a lot. She never leaves the house anymore and is literally stuck to the couch in front of the television. Gilbert said that she used to be pretty in her younger days but since their father committed suicide years ago, she started to eat her feelings. When she finally stepped out of her house just once, the people in town stared at her like they have never seen her before. Well, they don’t see her much anyway. But it was very rude of them to stare!

Besides that, Gilbert is also having an affair with a married woman, Betty! She has two sons and quite a nice husband but maybe she’s not so happy with him and finds it more exciting to be with Gilbert. Their relationship deteriorated when a new girl, Becky (Juliette Lewis), appeared in town.

Gilbert is seen as being a selfish son who’s ashamed of his mother and allows other people to make fun of her. His life is kind of complicated and he’s already making it worse, that is by getting involved with a married woman. But when Becky came into the picture, he confides in her and she helps him understand himself and his family better.

It’s a nice movie, a great one for the whole family to watch together. Arnie’s escapades are quite funny. I enjoyed watching DiCaprio act as Arnie. That one was really fascinating.

Movie Review: Driving Miss Daisy

I was looking through my pile of movies, trying to find some good comedy as I needed some good laughing medicine. Anyway, I came across Driving Miss Daisy starring Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tandy, and Dan Aykroyd. Hmm, it seemed like an interesting one because Morgan Freeman’s in it. I’ve always thought Freeman as a natural and funny actor. You’ll rarely be disappointed with his movies.

Miss Daisy (Tandy) is an elderly woman who thinks she can drive properly. She’s quite a stubborn old lady and always insists on driving her car herself. One morning, while attempting to drive out of her driveway, she crashes her car.

Her son, Boolie (Aykroyd), then hires Hoke (Freeman) to be Miss Daisy’s chauffeur. She doesn’t need a chauffeur. If she wants to get anywhere, she can either walk or call a taxicab. So Hoke’s just hanging around the house helping out here and there while being reprimanded by Miss Daisy all the time.

Whatever he does, she has a reason to tell him to stop doing it whether it’s tending to her garden, or if he’s having a small chat with the servant or even when he’s just looking at her photographs! You’ll be amazed at Hoke’s endless patience and happy-go-lucky attitude. Those days were Martin Luther King days and African Americans still received unequal treatment. For example, they weren’t allowed to use the toilets at gas stations.

However, Miss Daisy begins to treat Hoke in a less harsh way and allows her to drive her around. She also discovers that he can’t read but he knows his ABCs. She then gives him a book to practise his writing during Christmas but she says that it’s not a Christmas present.

It’s a nice movie which touches on racism and friendship.

Movie Review: The Last Samurai

If you are not accustomed to movies that are bloody and gory, then you had better not watch The Last Samurai! I’m warning you first that this movie is not for the faint of heart but if you want to go ahead and watch it, don’t be hunting for me. :D

Tom Cruise is Captain Nathan Algren, a fearless, stubborn and determined soldier from America. He’s been asked to go to Japan and train the Emperor’s newly-picked soldiers to fight against the rebellious samurai. Although Algren thinks that the soldiers aren’t ready for battle yet, they are sent to fight with the attacking samurai.

It was a losing battle for the Emperor’s army but the leader of the samurai gang, Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe), decides to keep Algren alive. His reason? Probably he wished to learn more about the enemy. He was probably fascinated by Algren’s will and determination to keep on fighting even though he’s already badly wounded during battle.

So Algren is brought back to the samurai’s village and put in the care of Katsumoto’s sister, Taka (Koyuki). During battle, Algren killed Taka’s husband. It must be awfully hard for her to nurse the man who took her husband’s life!

When Algren’s somewhat recovered and has stopped asking for sake, he walked around the cozy little village and took in what he saw. Men practicing fighting, children playing and women working. Somehow, Algren felt kind of peaceful to be there at that village despite being held hostage there!

But as time went by, he and Katsumoto began learning from each other and Algren gets along with the people. There’s even attraction between him and Taka.

Algren’s supposed to be against the samurai but now he’s become their friend. What’ll happen next?

The Last Samurai’s a really interesting movie and it’s quite sad too. I was flabbergasted with the scenes where they sliced people’s heads off! But overall, it’s a great movie and like I said, the slicing of heads was truly realistic! Ugh!

Movie Review: Chariots of Fire

This movie would be great to watch during the Olympic season. Alright, the Olympics are over but we can still watch it anytime! Why, it’s also about the Olympic Games but in 1924. The movie begins by showing a group of men running happily along the beach.

The two heroes are Eric Liddell (Ian Charleson) and Harold Abrahams (Ben Cross). They are real people and this movie was based on a true story. Both guys are excellent sportsmen and they run as quick as lightning.

Now this Harold guy is really competitive and I think he wants to be the fastest man on earth. However, he has to compete with Eric to see who is better. When both of them finally ran with each other, Eric won and Harold took the loss rather badly. He’s a sore loser and just wants to win the race. So he asks Sam Mussabini to train him to be a better and faster runner.

Well, the Olympic Games is around the corner and the athletes are told on their days of events. When Eric found out that he’s going to be running a 100m race on a Sunday, he didn’t want to. He’s a pious man and believes that Sunday is a day of rest and that he couldn’t run on that day.

The authorities tried to change Eric’s mind so that he’d run on that day. They even roped in the President of the United States to persuade him to run on Sunday. Luckily, another athlete came up and offered to trade places with Eric. So Eric would still be running but in the 400m on Thursday.

It’s just a simple movie about a few runners before the Olympic Games. It shows how they trained, ran, went to college, met girls, etc. A good movie for aspiring athletes out there.

Movie Review: 10 Things I Hate About You

This is the modern and high school version of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. There are two sisters who are still named Kat (Julia Stiles) and Bianca (Larisa Oleynik). Kat is the older, bad-tempered and scary sister whilst Bianca is sweet and absolutely charming.

Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the new boy in school has a major crush on Bianca. His guide and new friend, Michael, shows him around school and tries to tell him that Bianca is not worth chasing after because she’s shallow and conceited. However, Cameron is too deeply in love that he’ll do anything just to go on a date with Bianca.

The sisters’ father, by the way, has this rule that forbids his daughters to date until they graduate. But later, he changed the rules. The new rule is that Bianca can only date when Kat does. Now almost every guy in school is afraid of Kat and Bianca thought that all hope is gone since she thinks that Kat will never, ever date since she’s kind of like anti-social.

But then, Cameron and Michael came up with a plan. They’ll try to get Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) to go out with Kat. Patrick’s a hilarious character. It’s said that he ate a live duck once and many other bizarre things! He’s the bad boy character with long hair and don’t-care attitude. So the two fellas thought this guy is the one who can handle Kat.

All they need now is money to get Patrick to ask Kat out on dates. Well, that’s where Joey comes in. Joey’s the rich and popular guy in school and he’s also interested in Bianca. Cameron and Michael trick him by telling him that if he paid Patrick to go out with Kat, then he himself can also go out with Bianca. He doesn’t know that Cameron actually wants the girl for himself!

You’ve got to watch the movie for yourself to actually enjoy it. I’ve always liked the story ‘The Taming of the Shrew’, so I couldn’t wait to watch this movie. Did you know there’s another movie version of this Shakespeare story starring Rufus Sewell? I’ve watched that too and that’s really funny. Rufus Sewell’s a talented actor and his character was delightful to watch.

Movie Review: The Notebook

Finally I watched this movie. It was not shown in Malaysia, right? And why didn’t they??? It’s such a good movie that it should be shown everywhere. It’s a sad and happy movie.

Noah (Ryan Gosling) ‘blackmails’ Allie (Rachel McAdams) to go out on a date with him. That part was funny. There he was hanging from the roller coaster on one hand to make Allie agree to go out with him. But she got back at him by pulling his pants down right there in front of everyone!

But then both of them fall in love. They spent more and more time together and probably fell in love with each other more every day. However, Allie has to go back to New York to continue her studies while Noah will remain in Seabrook, his hometown. That time was summer time, by the way. Allie’s mother doesn’t approve of the relationship between the teenagers because Noah's poor while Allie has a bright future in front of her.

So, the last time Allie and Noah saw each other was that night when they fought and broke up with each other. The next day, Allie tried to find Noah to tell him that she’s already leaving for New York but she couldn’t find him. She tells Noah’s friend, Fin, to pass a message to Noah saying that she’s sorry for everything and that she loves him.

They then move on with their lives. Allie meets a new guy (James Marsden). He asks her to marry him. Noah rebuilt an old house his father bought for him. He built it the way Allie had asked him to the last time they were in it. He still hoped for Allie to return to him.

One day, he spots Allie walking in a street and he gets down from the bus he was in to go after her. He then sees her with another man, which is her fiancé. He leaves feeling devastated and without speaking to Allie.

I'm not going to reveal the ending to you but I guess you know it already! It's a happy and sad ending actually.

It’s really a great and moving story. I cried profusely while watching it! Hmm, I bet many girls cried too. I wouldn’t be surprised if even guys did shed a few tears. Great movie. One of the best romantic movies I ever saw.

Movie Review: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

I went to watch The Mummy 3 a few days ago. Quite a number of people have been talking about it so I might as well watch it myself! I’m not really a fan of The Mummy movies but this Mummy 3 movie was really good and hilarious. The hilarious parts would include John Hannah’s scenes in the movie.

The Evelyn character is played by a different actress too, Maria Bello. The original actress, Rachel Weisz rejected the movie because she had problems with the script, I think. Well, what a waste. Anyway, the new actress is not that bad.

Of course, there’s Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh but their roles are minimal ones. You won’t see much of kung fu stunts from Jet Li. Michelle Yeoh had more stunts than him.

So the story’s about the Terracotta army and the evil Dragon Emperor who wants to marry Zi Yuan (Michelle Yeoh) but her heart belonged to another guy, General Ming. Well, she managed to curse the Emperor and his army before going on to live an immortal life.

About 2000 years later, Rick O’Connell’s son, Alex (Luke Ford), all grown up and following in his father’s footsteps, discovered the Terracotta army. His father thinks he’s a good-for-nothing kid while his mother is quite over-protective over him. I thought Alex an arrogant and cocky kind of guy.

Besides that, a General Yang is set on bringing back the Emperor to life to continue leading his army to conquer everything in sight. When he managed to bring the Emperor to life, he pledged loyalty towards the emperor.

Oh, I almost forgot about another new character, Lin (Isabella Leong). She is Zi Yuan and General Ming’s daughter. She is ready to stop anyone who tries to bring the emperor back to life. Alex falls for her but she tells him that they can’t be together. Ah, the usual drama!

That was a great Mummy experience for me although no mummies are involved now, only an evil emperor in the form of Jet Li.

Movie Review: American Pie

Okay, I’m going to say outright that this is a stupid movie. Maybe not extremely stupid but just mediocre. And why is it called American Pie? Well, I’ll let you find out yourself.

So, this movie is about four teenage boys who are about to finish high school and also dreading to go to college as virgins. Jim (Jason Biggs), Chris (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) make a pact that they’ll do whatever it takes to try to get a date on prom night and then make their move.

Jim is always caught in ‘the act’ alone in his bedroom by his father (Eugene Levy). His father then tries to explain to him about the facts of life but in an embarrassing and funny way. Also, Jim likes Nadia, who’s a sexy foreign exchange student.

Chris seems to be the nice guy and joins the choir to meet girls. He’s actually a lacrosse player, so his teammate, Stifler (Seann William Scott) is always teasing him. However, Chris gets lucky when he befriends a choir mate, Heather (Mena Suvari).

Kevin already has a girlfriend but they’ve not done it yet. His girlfriend overhears him saying something inappropriate and gets angry with him. Uh-oh. Does this mean that Kevin will still be a virgin on prom night?

Then, there’s the socially-awkward Paul Finch who manages to impress a lot of girls with his quirky ways, much to the surprise and bewilderment of his friends. Now, almost every girl would like to go to the prom with Finch!

Anyway, Stifler has got to be the most irritating character. He’s arrogant, self-centred, and a bully. But it’s hilarious to watch him teasing the 4 friends and they can’t say much in retaliation. Stifler’s always holding huge parties and is disrespectful to girls most of the time.

In the end, is that all that the guys really want? Just to lose their virginity? Well, the ending is okay, though. It’s also not one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. There are way more other movies that are funnier. Hmm, perhaps I was more engrossed with the guys’ stupidity and thinking what they’ll get into next. Oh yeah, look out for Michelle, Jim’s date for the prom. I think she says the funniest line in it.

Movie Review: Over Her Dead Body

Eva Longoria Parker once again takes the role as the self-centred, fussy woman, like in Desperate Housewives! I bought this movie just because she’s in it and I can’t wait to see how it’d be like.

Well, this movie was just okay. There are a few funny bits here and there but I find the storyline a bit odd. Anyway, let me tell you briefly what it’s about. Kate (Eva Longoria Parker) and Henry (Paul Rudd) are about to get married. Kate is shown bossing people around getting ready for the big day. Then, as of her luck, a huge ‘angel’ ice sculpture falls down on her, probably killing her on the spot.

It is then one year later and it looks like Henry isn’t moving on because he probably doesn’t have the heart to go out with another woman. His sister drags him to see a psychic, Ashley (Lake Bell), to try to contact Kate and maybe talk to her. Ashley has her gay best friend, Dan (Jason Biggs), as her assistant but he’s too clumsy to be of any kind of help!

Ashley, seeing how hot Henry is, starts to fall for him and vice versa. Kate, whose soul still isn’t at rest yet, is agitated because she thinks Henry is moving on way too fast. So she tries to break the new lovebirds up even if it’s the last thing she does on Earth.

This is a story about letting go of someone you really love, even though you are already dead. True, it’s hard, but for how long can you really hold on to a person and not move on?

Getting Married At 20?

Are you ready to tie the knot that that age? What if your boyfriend or some guy who’s been in love with you for a long time and he decide to pop the question to you? Or maybe it’s the other way round, that is, the girl herself who asks it first?

You definitely need to consider a few things first before saying ‘Yes! I’ll marry you!’

Money. Yes, money is important. Can your husband-to-be support you later when you tie the knot? What if you were to have children? It’s okay if your future husband is loaded or he’s already stable and has a steady income. But if both of you are still students and there’s no income coming in, then what would you do?

Studies. If one of you is studying, can you juggle marriage and books at the same time? My friend, who’s still in university, is going to get married. I’m curious as to how it’ll be. I’m really happy for her but I’m just curious. Has anyone else done this before?

Your parents. Do they approve of your marrying at such an early age? Now we think that getting married at 20 is way too early but in the olden days, girls got married when they were as young as 16 or younger! However, in modern days, it’s considered quite unusual if you got married too early probably because we don’t want to be tied down to one person too soon. Anyway, if your parents object, then you might need to sit them down and talk with them.

Is he/she The One? This is probably the most important thing that you need to give some thought to. Marriage is for life, if you haven’t realized yet. I was genuinely shocked and basically worried when my ex suggested that we registered. I must have really hurt his feelings by acting all too shocked. Heck, I’m still a student and my family didn’t even know about him. Well, that was the past anyway.

Love…marriage…it seemed so far away when I was younger. Now, we are all grown up. A close of friend of mine is going to get married. She’s the same age as me. We were friends since we were 12. Now she’s going to get married!

We’ve really grown up.

Gonna Shoot For The Moon

How long was it huh? Since the last time when I felt like the world was going to end? All thanks to one *special* guy!

Phooo...it's not like I'm 100% recovered or something, I'm still in the process of healing and recovering from...um, depression? Post-break-up trauma? Whatever it was, it still is.

My friends advised me to keep myself busy. Fine, I'll try to be busy but it's not enough to get rid of him from my mind AND also from my dreams! Even when we were still dating, I've never dreamt so much about him. And now he decides to appear in my dreams now that we've broken up. Great timing.

I'm trying to convince myself that he's way over me and has already moved on in life with the new girlfriend whom he may have already known only for 2 months now.

However, I have that stinking feeling that I'm waiting for something. What is it? A new guy to dance his way into my life? For him to call me and beg me to take him back? Before this, I keep saying to myself that something good will come out of this. Well, I'm probably waiting for that something *good* to happen. Whatever it is! And that it's better to wait for it patiently. Good things come to those who wait, you know. I'm still trying to believe it myself.

Wow, I wonder how many proverbs and sayings that I've gone through. It's a way to convince myself, that's all.

Wake Me Up!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, I really need somebody or a few people to slap me hard and scold me endlessly.

I'm a pathetic pile of crumbs. Even listening to music most of the time doesn't really help. I need to get an iPod or something. When I wake up, before I go to sleep, actually, most of the time, I keep thinking about him. Oh, please, please, please, get out of my damn mind!!!

Anyway, I've been listening to these songs!

1. Dance Inside - The All-American Rejects
2. Runaway - Avril Lavigne
3. The Potential Break Up Song - Aly & AJ
4. Don't Tell Me - Avril Lavigne
5. My Happy Ending - Avril Lavigne
6. Freak Out - Avril Lavigne
7. Shut Up - Black Eyed Peas
8. It's My Life - Bon Jovi
9. She's So High - Everclear
10. Too Little Too Late - JoJo
11. Don't Speak - No Doubt
12. Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis
13. Stop & Stare - One Republic
14. Bounce - Sarah Connor
15. Dare You To Move - Switchfoot
16. Apologize - Timbaland feat. One Republic

Some of these songs are hard, loud, noisy and that's the way I like it now. The noisier, the better. I can blast them right in my ears and block out the whole world as well as reality.

Moving on is tough for me. My friends said I got to get myself together. Why waste time dreaming when he's out there enjoying with his new girl???

Oh my gosh. It is tough. I need to tell my friends to scold me as much as possible. I need to realize that he's so not worth it. Fickle-minded guy.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. The cake had an extra secret ingredient; it was chilli sauce!
2. Leave through my window.
3. Right now, I need a break.
4. The internet is where I went Thursday night; it was time to chat with friends.
5. Why does love hurt so much?
6. All I can think of is the break up.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watch the TV and chat with a friend, tomorrow my plans include dinner at a dreaded place and Sunday, I want to sleep!

Some of my answers make no sense at all....that's part of the fun, right? =)

Breaking Up Is Really Hard To Do

Picture from here

It's embarrassing that I'm in such a sad state right now. I have no mood to do anything. No mood to eat, no mood to read, no mood to watch TV, no mood to sleep (unless I'm feeling extremely drowsy), but luckily I still have the mood to blog. It seems that writing is a kind of special therapy. It helps the writer when she's depressed, sad, suffering from grief, etc. I started this blog because I was angry about 2 or 3 years ago. Guess I got my inspiration to write and it's all due to how I felt.

All right. Breaking up. I hate it. I've broken up many times with the same guy before. He's my first guy, by the way, and he always told me that we'd be forever. I was skeptical each time he said that. Well, looks like forever only lasted for 3 years. Yup, that's how long we've been together. We did break up a few times but always got back together. He would come begging me to take him back. He did beg me to take him back this time but I was not sure. He was the one who initiated the break up last Saturday!

I'm not the perfect girlfriend and I don't know what more he wants from me. He says that I don't love him enough or show concern for him. I'm not caring, loving, or understanding. Last Saturday, I felt like I've been kicked in the teeth when he told me that he's leaving me. That time was the time when I needed him most as something unfortunate had happened to me (I won't say what it was but it's really bad and sad). And he decided to dump me! Later, he claimed that he's drunk at the time and kept apologizing and begging me to accept him as my guy again.

I don't know, I don't know, I don't know what to do now. So far, we've only communicated via SMS and I don't think it's a good idea but I can't really meet him face to face now. There's no time for that. Communicating through SMS isn't that effective I think. It's slow and it's not really interpersonal.

I'll need to try to keep myself occupied and not think of him too often.

Is It Worth It Doing Paid Posts?

It’s been a question which many of us bloggers have been asking ourselves ever since blogging for money became a fad some time ago. Does having paid posts on our blogs corrupt the ‘purity’ of blogging? I know that it’s quick and easy money and no wonder many bloggers don’t have the heart to reject an opportunity from certain ‘blogging for money websites’.

Hah! If I were offered $20 to write a 100-word post, I don’t think I could pass it up! $20 is like RM60. Even a job at Kumon only pays RM4 an hour. This is RM60 and I can definitely write the article in less than an hour.

But then, in truth, people don’t enjoy visiting blogs that are full of paid posts. I know I don’t. People visit blogs to read the real stuff, real experiences and not fake opinions on some products that they have never and will never use. Some bloggers even write one paid post after another! I thought the rule was to write a non-paid post after a paid post. Hmm, some people are just too greedy, it seems.

Think about it. Having paid posts in your blog actually drives your readers away. Well, maybe it’ll attract the ones who do paid posts too. Maybe they are there for another reason, which is to spy on how you write! It’s not easy to write about bad credit or mortgages or other serious topics.

So, what do you think? I used to do paid posts for this blog but unfortunately, this blog received no more opportunities! =D Since then, I stopped writing paid posts in this blog. Anyhow, if someone were to offer me $20 to write a 100 words article on some product, I would have to say that I wouldn’t mind at all! See, some things are just too hard to say no to.

Horrible, Healthy Housework

Oh what the heck? I'm so in the blogging mood right now and my topic for today will be 'Housework'!

You heard that right? What could there possibly be anything to say about something as mundane as housework? Well, I'll share with you my experience of doing housework and the benefits it could bring.

We all know that if you clean something, it'll be clean right? I'm sure most people like to see clean things. I can't possibly imagine anyone who prefers dirty things like dirt, grease and cobwebs.

Anyway, my point is when you do housework, your house will be clean! If you live in a clean home, it'll be a pleasant and happy home. There will be no disorder, no mess, no tripping over stuff lying about the floor, no disgusted look on guests' faces, etc. Of course, if you knew that guests are coming, you'll quickly do some cleaning here and there, right??? Maybe you'll only clean where you think the guests are more likely to see. Hehe!

Besides having a clean house, you'll get your exercise when you do housework. For example, you'll be exercising your hand and arm muscles when you wash the dishes, scrub the bathroom, sweep and mop the floor, etc. As for leg exercises, well, cleaning the bathroom again, jumping up and down to clear cobwebs on ceilings that are low, bending and squatting when sweeping under your beds and lots more. Housework is absolutely diversified!

Truthfully, I don't fancy doing housework myself. I know that it brings a lot of good but I'm just too lazy sometimes. My mom will tell me to sweep the floor, mop the floor, clean my room, etc. Only when I'm in the mood, then I'll gladly help out with the housework. And guess what? I like to see the results. A cleaner home!

What do you people think? Do you like housework? Hit me with comments!
