Influenster Spring Fever VoxBox Unboxing Series: Review #1 Secret Outlast Clear Gel

I am so excited, because I was recently chosen by Influenster to try out this year’s new Spring Fever VoxBox!

For those who may not already be familiar with Influenster, it is a company that helps introduce community members and different brands. Members receive expert badges and take surveys so that they can be paired up with testing and review opportunities that suit them. This, in turn, helps to shape the introduction of new and future products.

Sometimes these opportunities come in what’s called a VoxBox. A VoxBox is a themed package full of awesome products that some community members get to try and test out. Some Our Everyday Harvest readers who have been following me since this time last year may also remember that I got picked to review the 2012 Influenster Spring Beauty VoxBox.

It’s so great to be back this Spring to share my recent experience on the newest VoxBox program.

I am going to do things a little differently this time. Instead of writing my review for each product in one blog post, I am going to offer each one separately (five total) in an unboxing series of posts.

Without further ado, I would like to get started with my review of Spring Fever VoxBox product #1:

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Antiperspirant/Deodorant

I really enjoy using Secret products, but was never a fan of their previous clear gel deodorants. About ten years ago, I had an issue with their Platinum Protection where the ingredients actually discolored some of my shirts with almost a bleach-like appearance.

I was wary about using Secret’s Outlast Clear Gel, scared that it may do the same to my clothes. I proceeded with caution--careful not wear any favorite shirts when first trying it out. You can imagine my surprise when my clothes were left untouched and in perfect condition after each use. Plus, there wasn't any white mark residue that other brands typically leave behind! (So you don't have to do the Deo Dance like Ms. Pulos, below).

Secret’s Outlast Clear Gel is actually supposed to provide 48 hours of clear protection. I used it daily, so I can’t exactly say if it holds that protection for a whole 48 hours, but I can attest that it provided me with continuous protection throughout the day. My favorite part was the fragrance. I received this deodorant in the Completely Clean scent, and just love how the refreshing aroma is not overpowering.

All in all, I am happy with the end result of this product and would definitely consider using it, again, in the future.

Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care Review and Giveaway

As a Purex Insider, I was given the opportunity to try out the new Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care system.

As with several of my previous reviews, you may already know I’m already fan of many other Soft Scrub products and have nothing, but good things to say about them. Needless to say I was excited to give this product a go.

4-in-1 Toilet Care is Soft Scrub’s newest product on the market and is the only toilet bowl rim hanger to:

Clean Toilets
Prevent Future Buildup
Fight Toilet Rings
Freshen for up to Four Weeks

With that, I am going to provide my review primarily based on these four things.

As far as cleaning toilets, I am a bit of a neat freak, so I always like to keep my toilet nice and clean. I didn’t find that this product did an amazing job at cleaning my toilet per say. Perhaps it was because my toilet was already clean prior to using it, so it may have been difficult to tell if it was doing an actual cleaning job.

On another note, I can definitely say that it seemed to do well at preventing additional build-up. I am in my second week of utilizing Soft Scrub’s 4-in-1 Toilet Care and so far there hasn’t been any residue or toilets rings left behind. Perhaps it really is cleaning my toilet!

As far as the freshening aspect, my initial reaction was that it smelled amazing. This product comes in two separate scents, Alpine Fresh and Sapphire Waters. I actually received the Alpine Fresh version, and felt that it was such a fitting fragrance and exactly how I would expect a fresh toilet to smell. The only issue that I noticed is that the scent, while quite powerful in the beginning, quickly started to lose that power after a few days. Now don’t get me wrong, I can still smell the Alpine Fresh fragrance, but it is very faint. Some people may prefer a scent that is a little more subtle, but I actually enjoy the fresh aroma at a stronger level, especially in the bathroom.

Soft Scrub also states that the plastic cage in the 4-in-1 Toilet Care system helps to keep the product in place to allow the water to activate it during each flush. I would like to also back up that claim. I was a little skeptical at first when looking at the plastic holder, but this feature has certainly exceeded my expectations, and so far it has stayed in place.

In a nutshell, 4-in-1 Toilet Care by Soft Scrub has some pros and cons. It is hard to say if it really cleaned my toilet and the fragrance could have been a bit more powerful. On the plus side, it definitely stayed in place on the rim of my toilet and helped to prevent future buildup or rings.

Hello Everyone!

I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve been on here, so I wanted to post a quick update. The relocation is going well, but we are still trying to get settled with unpacking, etc.

Also, in the midst of all of the craziness of the move and transition from military to civilian life we received such wonderful news…we are currently expecting a little blessing later on this year!! :-)

I hope all of my wonderful blog readers are doing well. I'm aiming to have everything back up and running on here real soon, including the Harvest of Friends Weekend Blog Hop, new recipes, savings, freebie offers, product reviews, and giveaways.

Plus, since we are now relocated to New York, we have a whole different selection of grocery stores, so keep posted for all new weekly coupon match-ups!
