It's coming back

I can feel it. With every day that passes my anxiety is creeping back.

I guess i shouldn't really be that surprised, given that we are going through some big changes right now... but still, it really sucks. Thinking about it, it's kinda ironic really, considering i was so thrilled just a few weeks ago. I suppose reality is finally beginning to sink in...

Mart is being great (as always), but i just can't help feeling kinda shitty; with every day that passes i should be feeling better... i was, but now i feel like i'm heading down a slippery slope.

I hate feeling like this. i want to feel better!!

Blue Monday

Today has been coined "Blue Monday" AKA the most depressing day of the year; the Christmas and New Year glow has finally faded, and all the enormous bills have landed on the doormat... But you know what? I honestly could not be happier.

I feel kinda smug saying it like that, but I can't help how I feel, I'm just glad I'm feeling better. I just feel like a massive weight has been lifted off of my shoulders, and that the world literally is my oyster... i don't think I've felt this good in a long time; at least 9 months.

I want to shout about my happiness from the rooftops... but i won't, as it is Blue Monday after all!

So, today was finally the day for my big redundancy meeting.

To my surprise it was all fairly quick, straightforward and painless; Long story short; I'll be outta there by Thursday Lunchtime and paid up until around mid-February.

How do i feel? Like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders... i honestly can not stop smiling!!

Obviously there is still along way to go in terms of sustaining long term cash flow etc. but i plan on starting the ball rolling with that tomorrow. Right now I'm just so pleased to be free of such an awful place!

Today was my first day back at work after Christmas and New Year.

It was all pretty straight forward and stress-free. Me thinks it is the calm before tomorrow's storm... Wish me Luck!!

Janice, Paul and Michael came to visit today.

Just before they left, Janice asked if we would like to have Michael come and stay with us over the next half term; of course we agreed... this is so exciting as we've never had any of the children stay with us over night before!

Sad News

The other day i found out some rather sad news; my favourite Doctor left our Practice just before Christmas.

Yes, i know this shouldn't really make me that sad, but it does. I really liked this Doctor. We have about seven Doctors based at our Practice, and this one was by far my favourite. She was so kind, understanding and patient.

It was her i chose to go to when i needed signing off work long term, it was her whom prescribed me my anti-depressants... and now she's gone.

*Sighs*

Oh well, with any look, I'll get on with her replacement just as well, if not, better.

I'm Lost

I feel well and truly, 100% lost.

I've no idea why i feel like this, i just do. Actually, i know exactly why i feel like this; with every second that passes, January 10th is getting closer.

I'm fine with being made redundant, i really am, but it doesn't mean i have to look forward to it... does it?

Now you see why i'm lost.

In one way i'm looking forward to it, as i know i'll be better off outta there and i'm up for the whole 'New Year, New Start' thing. There's just one problem; i've never been good with change. it scares me shitless.

I'm trying to stay positive, reminding myself that this is the best solution all around, but at the same time i am totally freaking out.

It's because i have no idea what is going to happen. Obviously, i know i am going to lose my job, but i've no idea how that actually happens... Does that make sense??

This year i hope to achieve the following;

Come off my anti depressants
Find a job, or at least a steady and reliable source of income
(hopefully) Become Pregnant

I'm not greedy, so to be honest I'd be more than happy with the first two. The third would just be the icing in the cake.

Following on from the latest redundancy update, I have decided to try a new way of earning a living; I've decided to try out blogging professionally!

I realise that it is very unlikely that I will earn a 'real wage' through blogging, but given this has been know to happen, I thought I may as well give it a whirl... You may have already noticed I've added a new badge to promote the blog; Mrs O'Neill-March's Reviews. So, if you haven't already, please go and take a look around. They're aren't any reviews on there as yet, but I'm hoping to get publishing tomorrow.

Redundancies - Round #2 - update #8

I received a letter from Head Office first thing Thursday morning, stating that at this moment in time i am the only member of team been selected for Redundancy. Surprise!

The letter invited me to attend a meeting on Monday (19th December) to discuss the matter further/start proceedings etc. However, as i am now on leave until 9th January, i have informed them that i am not willing to attend this meeting until I return to work.

They weren't happy, but there is no way I am dealing with this until after Christmas!

A meeting is now scheduled for January 10th, in place of December 19th.

Redundancies - Round #2 - update #7

I received an email this afternoon from the member of the team who is signed off. The email stated that they had been bought up to speed on the current situation, and they had volunteered. Their request, along with various others has been excepted.

So, this means that four and half of the five full time equivalents have gone, leaving just one part time post left for the chop. At present, there are three part time staff in our team, myself included.

This is where the selection criteria comes into play; i scored 45/58, and some rough calculations show the other two coming out with 52/58 and 55/58. These calculations are rough because i've taken educated guesses at their scores. My calculations may be way off, but if they're not, it looks like i'm a goner.

Time to celebrate?? Watch this space!

Christmas Traditions

Yup, it's that time of year again already, and i can't quite believe it, but this year will be mine and Mart's eight Christmas together. Wowzers.

Now that our date-a-versary has come and passed, it is really beginning to feel like Christmas... and I've suddenly realised something; instead of reminiscing over traditions of my childhood Christmases, i actually look forward to (what i like to call) "The O'Neill-March Christmas Traditions".

Here's the list:

Completing our Christmas shopping nice and early so we can enjoy December, rather than despise it
Enduring countless trips to Leicester to play Santa
Visiting local Christmas Markets
Enjoying lovely walks in the chilling winter weather
Going for Dinner at our local 'homely' independent run pub on Christmas Eve
Watching Love Actually at some point in December
Watching Christmas/New Year related films at the Cinema

Ahh, i love the fact we have our very own traditions!!
