She Fell Down..

Faith tripped on the cable and fell backward....horror..darn she knocked the back of her head on the bottom part of the tv cabinet. It happened on Sat, 27 Sep.

I quickly picked her up and comforted her. Gently touched the back of her head and saw blood on my hand. :( To be honest, I was not that brave actually..my knees go weak at the sight of blood. Luckily hubby was around.

I used tissue paper and wiped the blood..had a look at the wound..luckily it was not deep. We tapao-ed everyone and rushed her to a nearby clinic. The nurse had her wound cleaned and put some cream on it. Doctor said it is just a "superficial" wound that she will be ok. Just need to monitor within 6 hours for any vomiting, dizziness or abnormal behavior.

Faith looked normal throughout the whole ordeal. Of course she cried when her wound was being cleaned..sakit man. At home, she was back to being samseng again.

Our house is not baby proof enough. We moved the table next to the tv cabinet and make sure no gap in between and no dangling cables.

Ouch...she was a brave girl..so sorry my darling.

Today is Day 2 and her wound is healing already...no more bump. :)

Still smiling the day when she knocked her head...means she is A-ok!

Faith is ONE

Gwen's final term exam is less than 2 weeks away hence I am really busy coaching and doing revision with her. Just a brief update on Faith as she has turned one year old on 1 September. It was just a simple celebration with close family members.

To be more exact, Faith is one year and 3 weeks old today. Some of the milestones she has achieved are:

1. She is walking unassisted now but still a bit off balance when walking.

2. Able to drink from a straw cup by herself.

3. Drinking 7-8 oz of milk 4 times a day.

4. Taking porridge for lunch and dinner.

5. She has 4 teeth so far.

6. She knows how to wave goodbye (looks like goodbye but I don't think it's meant for saying bye bye). Showing the 'no more' sign gesture.

7. Likes to imitate the sounds we make.

8. Takes one nap for 1.5 hours everyday.

9. Still having one time midnight feeding around 5am. I still feed her even though she didn't wake up for her feed at 5am coz by doing this she would sleep better and longer.

Walking at 11 months old

Faith has achieved a major milestone. She is able to walk while holding our hands. Although she isn't walking independently yet (she could take a few little steps on her own), I have a feeling she would be doing that soon before her 1st birthday.

She enjoys her new found skill and has been happily taking baby steps whilst holding on to something. She walks really fast when holding Papa's hand(s).

We only go back to our own house during the weekend. Faith only get to explore the staircase like twice and now she is climbing up the stairs like a pro.

She has bigger feet compares to Gwen at 11 months old. I put on Gwen's first pair of walking shoes which is a size 4 and it fits Faith perfectly. FYI, Gwen started walking very late around 16 months..haha.

Mummy hopes she doesn't walk so soon ..haha..a new set of problems for me..huhu..

A Little Update on Baby Faith

Time flies...Faith is only 1.5 months shy from her 1st birthday. She is a total opposite of her big sister..haha. Faith is more sociable and smiles a lot. Gwen is still a little bit shy around people and she doesn't talk much..haha..I think she follows Mummy lah. :p

Faith is 10 months 2 weeks and 2 days old today. I better note down some of her development before my memory fails me.

1. Faith is still not sleeping through the night. She still needs one time night feeding. It could be a habit that she wakes up for milk as I will feed her around 5.30am on weekdays before waking Gwen up for school. After her feed, she would continue her sleep till around 8.30 am. I will be back home around 7.30 am after sending Gwen to school. (I'm still staying at my parents' house)

2. Faith is a milk guzzler...she drinks a lot. She drinks 7-8 oz of milk four times a day. She is also having porridge 2 times a day. But I seldom give her snacks though.

3. She has mastered crawling and able to cruise holding on to something. She could stand up momentarily hands free.

4. One thing I find it strange is she likes to watch TV...coz Gwen wasn't interested in watching the telly at this age. Oh she has been watching channel 333 on Astro..LOL. That's a Hokkien channel...thanks to my parents lah (my parents are not Hokkien by the way..haha). And I find it cute that Faith would laugh really loud to some of the things she saw on TV...very cute.

5. She is trying to communicate with us...talking a lot but we don't have any idea what she is trying to say..haha.

6. Faith is quite fierce. She would lunge forward and hit Gwen on the face if by any chance Jie Jie made her cross.

7. Oh..and her hair is getting longer now. She needs a haircut soon but Mummy is lazy hehe..will do it soon.

8. She is using pincer grasp to pick up small objects now. Her fine motor skills are better than Gwen last time.

9. Faith is very observant and curious...she would turn her head to the slightest sound.

10. Her favourite game is throwing things on the floor!

11. As she is exposed to the smartphones, she will grab our iPhones when she had the chance and starts tapping and sliding the screen by using her fingers. She changed my profile pic once in whatsapp..haha.

12. Faith only has 2 bottom teeth. No signs of new tooth erupting....*strange*.

Ok..I think that's about it on her development. Lets see some photos of my baby now.

Gwen turned 7 on 22nd June. We had plans to celebrate her birthday at a Chinese restaurant with my family members (my 2nd bro and family were in KL) but....we had to cancel coz this "unlucky" mummy was down with measles. Hah...what are the odds..same like last year, I was recovering from chicken pox on Gwen's 6th birthday. Bleh..

Last Friday, I noticed red spots like rashes suddenly appeared on my face and arms. Luckily Papa was back on that day so I went to the clinic on Saturday morning myself to get it checked. The doc told me I have measles! Can't do anything bout it...just have to wait it out and drink lots of water.

Last Saturday was Gwen's 7th birthday. Papa brought Gwen out to get a cake for her birthday. With my condition, we couldn't go out to celebrate...just a simple cake cutting celebration at home.

Gwen has grown up a lot...she didn't fuss at all although it was just a little celebration with just the four of us and a small birthday cake. She was very excited to open her presents thats all...haha.

She is a true blue animal lover. This is a Nat Geo Wild curl and coil green mamba snake with light she wanted for her birthday. That's my Gwen...haha..

I'm ok now. Unfortunately, Gwen caught the measles from me. I brought her to the paed on Monday and her Paed told me it was fake measles. We only had rashes with no other symptoms. Both of us wore the masks at home as we do not want Baby Faith to get it too (her MMR jab is not due yet).

The paed gave Gwen MC and she will be back to school tomorrow. As of now, baby is free from any spots...hope it stays this way...pray.

School Holiday - Part 1

I'm glad that Hubby was able to take a week off from work and bring her princesses for their much awaited 'outing' during the recent school holiday. The second week of school holiday was spent going out everyday and also to tuition. Whereas the first week of school holiday, we basically stayed in (Gwen completed some 3M workbooks and school homework) as Hubby was not around.

As it was not a planned leave (coz Hubby wasn't sure whether he could take leave or not), we did not go anywhere far. Papa wanted to bring Gwen to Genting so I quickly book a room at Theme Park Hotel. It was just a night stay.

1. Genting Highlands (4-5 June 2013)

I booked the Deluxe room (comes with a queen size and a single bed). The hotel did some renovation I think coz the room looked much better and modern the last time we stayed at this hotel..haha.

We reached Genting around 2pm and wasted no time checking in first before we proceeded to the indoor theme park. Papa brought Gwen for the rides whereas Mummy took care of Baby Faith.

Baby Faith was very well behaved throughout the trip. She sat in her stroller without any fuss but I have to keep pushing the stroller..hehe..as she is really 'kepoh' looking at people and things.

On the second day after checking out, we got ourselves to the outdoor theme park rather early around 10.30am. Right after we finished our lunch and baby just dozed off after finishing her milk, the rain came...bummer.

As it was raining quite heavily, we decided to head back home.

Can you believe I managed to shop with baby on tow while in Genting. Bought this at Tangs..haha..it was on sale. :)

That was the highlight of our Genting trip. We also had so much fun doing some baking when Papa was here during the holiday.

I baked..yes..after sooo long haha. Bought a packet of chocolate chips some time ago so decided to make some chocolate chip cookies.

The cookies was delicious. We had it for breakfast several days and also brought some to Genting..haha.

Below is the recipe for my own record. Feel free to pick up the recipe if you like.

Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

YieldMakes about 3 dozen

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light-brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (about 12 ounces) semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the butter with both sugars; beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low; add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute. Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop heaping tablespoon-size balls of dough about 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center, 8 to 10 minutes (bake till golden brown for 12-15 mins for crispy version). Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week.

Looks like I can only blog on a monthly basis...haha. Sorry for the long hiatus from blogging. I am really busy..sigh..Hubby has been away for 3 weeks in Myanmar. He just came back to KL last weekend and back to work in Singapore on Monday morning.

Last week was Gwen's Primary 1 exam week. Mummy was the one stressing over her exam whereas Gwen was cool as a cucumber. My shoulders feel lighter as exam is over and I can relax a bit now.

I tried my best to squeeze in some time to coach and revise with Gwen for her exam as I am very busy taking care of Baby Faith. I have wasted a lot of time translating Chinese to han yu pin yin. >_< Told Gwen if she can get above 80 for all subjects, I will buy her a set of 48 colour pencils which she has been longing for.

This week Gwen got all her exam papers back. I was very anxious to know how she fared in her exam. She has never sat for any test, spelling, ejaan or ting xie before in kindergarten.

My jaw dropped looking at her results coz she scored 90 and above in all subjects! We are very proud of her for doing well in a Chinese medium school as she couldn't even speak Chinese before entering Primary 1. Keep it up Gwen! :)

School holiday is here. Yes, I don't need to wake up at 5am during weekdays anymore...yippee.

Before I MIA again, I better update a little on Baby Faith's development. She is 8 months, 3 weeks 1 day old today.

1. Started teething quite late compared to jie jie. Just spotted 2 teeth sprouting few weeks ago.

2. Can crawl quite well and cruising a bit while standing up

3. Prefer to stand up than crawling.

4. Smiles when I take pics of her. My magic words to make her smile is "Say cheese".. haha.

5. Babbles and smiles a lot.

6. Started solid quite late..reason being Mummy was lazy. I have been giving her organic baby cereal and home made porridge.

7. Naps 2 times a day and drinking 7oz of milk every 3-4 hours.

Faith's First Haircut

A lot of people have commented that Baby Faith has a lot of hair. Her hair is really her crowning glory..LOL..strangers would stop and admire her thick hair whenever we go out shopping.

Only 5 months old, her hair is growing really fast. My mum has been pressuring me to give her a haircut. Her hair is always wet as she perspires a lot even when she is drinking milk. I'm reluctant to cut her hair coz she looks so adorable and girly with longer hair. Finally, I gave her hair a trim 2 days ago.

A Little Update On Baby Faith

Gosh...I have been very very busy since Gwen started Primary 1. My routine starts at 5 AM on weekdays. The girls and I have move into to my parents' house since Gwen started Primary 1 as I have to ferry Gwen to and from school myself and also feed my baby first before I send Gwen to school.

So you can imagine how tired I would be every day....so by 11 PM, I would be in bed. Now, let me do a quick update on baby Faith first before I delay any longer.

Time flies....just a blink of an eye, my baby is almost 5 months old.

- Baby Faith is 4 months 3 weeks and 6 days old today.

- She is getting more adorable and fairer now..hehe.

- Just got her 2nd Triple+Polio+Hib and Rotarix on 21-1-2013

- She weighs 7.25 kg and her head circumference was measured at 41.2 cm during her last checkup.

- Drinks 5 oz of formula every 3 hours.

- Still taking cat naps but at night she sleeps very well. She could snooze for 7-8 hours straight before waking up for milk. But these past few days she has been waking up earlier for her night feeding...sigh.

- Attempting to sit up now which I think is quite early for her age.

- She can roll from her back to her tummy and from her tummy to her back but only in one direction.

- I think I saw her trying to crawl (combat crawling a little bit) on the bed now...dangerous!

- She is a very smiley baby...very cute. :)

Baby Faith At 13 weeks

My life has changed since the arrival of Baby Faith. I don't have time for anything. This little cutie pie has been driving me up the wall.

The first 2 months was really tough and stressful for me. Thank god I did not slipped into depression. Taking care of a baby all by yourself 24/7 is not an easy task especially if you have a fussy baby. And also a big kid to take care of.

Now that Baby Faith has turned 3 months old, I finally get to sleep longer stretch at night but I'm unable to take naps during the day though coz this baby is a cat napper.

Hubby still comes back during the weekends only. Luckily my mum comes to stay with me on and off. I don't even have time to cook thus mum helps a lot by providing delicious home-cooked meals for Gwen and I.

A little update on baby:
- smiles and coos a lot now. Gwen adores her baby sister a lot. She helps me entertain baby when I need to do a little house work or going to the bathroom and etc.

- her weight when measured 3 weeks ago was 5.6kg

- this baby doesn't take the pacifier hence I have to carry her around the house to rock her to sleep which is taking a toll on my back.

- for naps, I put her into the sarong coz she can nap longer in it but sometimes she doesn't want to be put in the sarong. Strangely she takes the pacifier if she sleeps in the sarong but also see her mood! She only takes 30 mins nap if she sleeps in the crib.

- drinks 4-6 oz formula milk at 2-4 hours interval.

2 days ago while clipping baby's little finger, I got carried away and accidentally clipped too much. Poor baby was wailing. :(

So sorry baby. Gwen was angry with me and warned me not to do it again hehe. She even kissed her baby sister's pinky. How sweet.

Losing Her First Baby Tooth

Just a little update on Gwen's milestone while I have time to blog. FYI, Baby Faith is doing fine. :)

The first CL was a nightmare. Thank God I managed to find a replacement. The new CL is great.

Ok more confinement stories later.

Gwen's left lower central incisor was loose few days ago. She was so eager for her tooth to drop coz she was hoping the 'tooth fairy' will visit her.

In only 2 days time her tooth fell out coz she has been tugging it every now and then.

She is brushing her teeth 2 times a day but still she gets cavity. *scratch head* Actually I am the one brushing for her. Her permanent tooth already emerging.

Gwen lost her first baby tooth on 11-9-2012.

Our New Bundle Of Joy

Hi everyone. I just delivered my second princess on 1st September.

My delivery was fast and smooth. Silly me I didn't know I have contractions and when my water bag burst around 10.45pm on 31st August while in the toilet about to ease myself, that was the sign I have to rush to the hospital immediately.

Luckily Hubby and my MIL were here. Hubby rushed home immediately when I informed him I was 3 cm dilated (I didn't have any contractions. Gynae wanted to induce me but I wanted to wait) after going for my 38 weeks internal exam on 30th August.

It took us around 5 mins to reach the hospital. When the midwife gave me an internal exam, I was already 7cm dilated.

My labour progressed really fast. My baby was born at 1.24am on 1st September. Weighing at 2.92kg and 50cm in length.

But my baby was having breathing difficulty right after she was born. All is well now as long as baby is healthy.

Introducing Baby Faith, our miracle baby. I have been through a lot having her.

Pregnant With Chicken Pox

Today is my 7th month of pregnancy means I'm in my last trimester. This is a tough tough pregnancy...haih...I'm devastated coz I got the chicken pox few days ago. :( It was Thurs right after I came back from dinner with my family, I immediately spotted 3 blisters.

Went to see my Gynae the next day and he comforted me not to worry. I was given acyclovir to speed up the healing process and to decrease pain. Actually not sure the med really helps or not coz I'm covered with spots everywhere...my face, scalp, tummy,... and places that you least expected.

I don't have fever or feeling tired though...lucky?..bleh. Last night I couldn't sleep a wink coz the blisters were itching terribly...calamine lotion didn't help at all.

Something amazing happened just now..right after I wiped myself with the water that I used to boil some "magic" leaves my mum gave me yesterday, the itching subsided significantly! Thank God I can have a good night sleep tonight.

Right now I'm trying to stay strong and think positive for my baby sake. I need some time to recuperate so I won't be blogging for a while until I am much better. Will be visiting your blog again soon my dear friends.

Gwen Is Back To School

I moved back to my house last Friday night. Hubby is back to Jakarta on Monday morning coz he can't stay too long in KL since he did not take leave (not many days of annual leave left).

Gwen has fully recovered. But I'm still sleeping in another room until end of this week. I think I have already exposed to her chicken pox virus coz based on the info I got from the internet, the first 2 days before the rash appear she is considered to be contagious. I took care of her when she had fever (and after the rash appear) since I was alone and I did not know that was the first sign of chicken pox.

I also read that the virus would probably attack 10-21 days after exposure, I have to wait till next Monday to see whether I'm safe from it or not. Next Monday is also my 7th month pregnancy check up. I'm downing myself with lots of fresh fruits and multi-vits now.

Gwen was giving me hard time waking up early for school (and going to Bao Bei) due to the long school/sick holiday. I don't need to send her to school anymore coz she has a transporter now (since March). Anyway, she got her mojo back and not so moody anymore since yesterday. So everything is back to normal...phew.

I made soya bean milk for the first time yesterday when Gwen was at school...motivated after reading Merryn's homemade soya bean milk post..haha. Now I know it's so easy to make your own soya bean milk.

I used organic soya bean and organic raw cane sugar which I bought from an organic shop at 1U to make soya bean milk.

I soaked the soya beans overnight. Peeling off the skin is a tedious process. I used 125g of soya bean to 1 litre of water.

After blending the beans with water, I sieved the pulp using a soup bag.

Slowly simmer the soya bean milk in low to medium fire.

Voila! Healthy and nutricious soya bean milk. I will definitely make my own soya bean milk during my pregnancy. Hope I will have a fair skinned baby after drinking lots of this..haha.

I'm craving for this...haha..can't eat this too often. This bak chang has dried oysters in it. I still prefer the usual ones. You know which part I like the most? The fatty pork belly..LOL.

I Moved Out :(

I moved out from my cozy abode since last Thursday and now I'm staying at my parents' house.

Last Thursday I went to consult my Gynae regarding Gwen's chicken pox. What I heard wasn't pleasing to my ears.

Gynae explained to me that there is a 1-5% chance of baby being born with congenital deformity if I contracted chicken pox when I'm less than 28 weeks pregnant. I'm currently in my 26 weeks.

Hubby was back on last Wednesday night for a short holiday. We actually booked a night stay in Genting on Thursday. So school holiday is not a holiday for us after all. :(

Right now Gwen is being taken care of by Hubby alone. Hubby had chicken pox before so he is immune to the virus.

I'm missing my Gwen every second but never feel so free and relax in my life since having Gwen. All I do is eat and sleep here at my parents' home.

Hubby will stay with Gwen until this Sunday. I can't wait to go home and I pray please spare me from getting the pox. The incubation period for chicken pox is 10-21 days..I'm not entirely safe from the virus yet!

Gwen Got the Chicken Pox!

Oh my gosh...this month is really a bad month. Gwen has been getting sick pretty often these days.

On Monday night Gwen requested her body temperature to be checked coz she felt warm and she was having a headache. When I measured her temperature, true enough she was having a mild fever...her temp was around 37.5C. I gave her a dose of paracetamol before bed.

On Tuesday, she was supposed to attend her 2nd day of holiday camp at her kindy (it's a 3 day holiday program) but she couldn't wake up telling me she is still having a headache.

I also noticed several red spots appearing on her body, face, legs and arms. Immediately I was thinking die lah...Gwen might have contracted either chicken pox or HFMD.

I monitored her condition and I suspected it could be chicken pox coz no signs of red spots inside her mouth or on her soles and palms.

So, this morning I brought Gwen to the hospital to see her Paed. Her Paed confirmed that Gwen has caught what he called "modified chicken pox". Even though she had her chicken pox vaccination when she was 15 months old, she could still be infected with chicken pox.

She has less than 20 spots on her body and she is still in good mood just sometimes her fever would come but only mild ones.

The spot doesn't have any liquid inside. It looks more like insect bite.

This is only the 2nd day she contracted chicken pox.

The yellow bottle is for chicken pox and the orange bottle is for fever. Do you believe this was my Paed when I was young?? You can imagine how elderly he is now...older than my dad but a really good and highly recommended Paed.

I think she was infected by the virus from school coz she told me one of her classmates just recovered from chicken pox.

And I'm now at risk of being infected by Gwen. I can't stay away from my daughter coz I'm the only caretaker and she needs me.

I think I have a very strong immune system when I was in my teens coz all 4 of my siblings had the chicken pox when they were in their teens except me!!! Even my mum got it last time but I was still spared from getting the chicken pox.

This time I can't be sure coz pregnant women's immune system is not as strong as before. I'm praying hard that I don't get the chicken pox from Gwen as I'm pregnant now.

Pregnancy No.2 - At 24 weeks

Just went for my 24 weeks check-up on Wednesday (23rd May). This round Gynae did a detail scan of my baby and placenta. So far baby seemed healthy.

Some updates on my 6th month pregnancy.

1. My current weight is 48.6kg. Not bad at all since I've put on almost 3kg after just one month.

2. I can only sleep on my left side. I wake up with an uncomfortable pain in my belly when I wake up lying on my right side or back.

3. My Gynae is super nice and caring. He is very patient in explaining to me in detail everytime I go and see him. He also asks about Hubby...like when is he coming back and he even sends his regards to my Hubby. Hope he can still maintain his cool/patience when I deliver..haha.

4. My Gynae scanned everything from baby's heart, lips, kidneys, stomach, bladder to baby's fingers. He even counted all the digits on baby's hands. Thank God baby is healthy but one of the kidneys is a bit dilated. Gynae said it's normal but....it makes me worried lah.

5. Didn't get to see baby's face in 3D scan coz baby was not facing up. Gynae said will do it again next time.

6. Baby is weighing approximately 685g. Gynae said it's a good size. :)

7. I can feel my baby squirming around in my tummy sometimes. :) Baby's kick is quite strong nowadays.

I think that's pretty summed up my progress...too sleepy to think now. :P

Today, I mean Saturday coz it's Sunday already now...hehe..I brought Gwen to Sunway Pyramid. There was a Cadbury event going on there. Gwen had a great time sampling free chocolates.

I bought some chocs and was entitled to play some games. We participated in the lucky draw where Gwen got a bar of Zip choc wafer, we got a free photo session and Gwen get to eat marshmallow dipped in chocolate too...yummy. :)

Fever Again - No Sports Day For Gwen :(

Last Friday when I woke Gwen up to get ready for school I felt her body was burning. Bummer, Gwen suddenly developed high fever. Her temperature was slightly above 39C. Luckily Hubby was around till Sunday.

Gwen had to skip school that day and coincidently that Friday was Teacher's Day at her kindy. I have already prepared gifts for her two class teachers for that occassion.

The next day (Saturday), Gwen was supposed to attend her first sports day which she never had a chance to participate while we were living in Jakarta (her pre-school didn't organize this event)..sadly we had to miss this event which I was so looking forward to. :(

This time her fever dragged for an unusually long time. She didn't attend school yesterday and I brought her to see the Paediatrician. The Paed told me Gwen has tonsilitis. The back of her throat was red and a few white dots appeared too.

Luckily, her fever did not spike up again since her last dosage of paracetamol at 7.30am this morning. She was able to go to school today.

Despite having fever, Gwen was still active and talking. She was busy doing her Disney Junior activity book here. During the weekend we still go out...hehe..of course I had to bring along the fever medicines (2 types).

I bought something for her teachers and here is how I wrapped them up with Gwen's help.

Bracelet from Forever 21. I also included 2 Ferrero Rocher into the gift bag together with the bracelet.

Gwen helped me make this heartshaped fish gift card for her teachers.

Gwen wrote the greetings and her teacher's name on the card herself.

Tadaa...a simple gift bag for her teachers. She can only present these gifts to her teachers today. :(

My First Mother's Day Gift From Gwen

Last Friday, Gwen presented me her first Mother's Day handiwork which she made in school. Her pre-school in Jakarta never celebrate this occassion so I was very happy to receive my first Mother's Day "gift" from Gwen. :)

When she reached home, she told me excitedly that she did everything by herself...and she didn't need any help from her teacher. The teacher only helped her to glue the string.

During the weekend, we really went all out to feast like nobody business. On Saturday, we had high tea buffet at PJ Hilton. We really enjoyed the food there.

The satay was good. I ate quite a lot...hehe.

We ate so much till we couldn't move anymore..haha. Then on Sunday which was Mother's Day, we decided to have dinner at Italiannies as Gwen wanted to eat pizza.

Gwen was paying full attention while doing her Mandarin homework brought from home..only one page left.

Pregnancy No.2 - At 20 weeks

Had my 5th month check-up last Monday. The Gynae "reminded" me I'm halfway at my pregnancy mark now..wow so fast.

Thank you everyone for your kind concern about my pregnancy. My strength and appetite have return. I feel great and started cooking and doing house chores again. The first 4 months I really have no energy to do anything.

Some updates on my pregnancy at 20 weeks:

1. My weight now is 45.8 kg only. The weight is gaining at a slow pace. Well, I have lost 3 kg in my first trimester due to nausea, vomitting and lack of appetite.

2. Had my triple blood test done a month ago. The risk of down syndrome came out negative.

3. My baby bump is growing but not that big. Baby is healthy and growing according to the estimated age of gestation.

4. Slight itchiness appears from time to time below my belly button. Old stretch marks from my first pregnancy are more prominent now.

5. Appetite is back but I don't eat excessively. I'm eating my usual portion. And I have no cravings. Maybe some sour and spicy food. I don't go and get any special food, I can go without it. I will buy myself if I happened to pass by the stall or shop.

6. I already know the gender of my baby. :)

As my appetite is back, we had a buffet dinner in Holiday Villa Subang on Saturday. I bought 2 Groupon vouchers for RM90.

The food was so so only. Not much varieties to choose from. We did enjoy the food especially Gwen. She asks us to bring her to buffet again!

That's the latest pic of me taken 2 days ago. My sis helped me cut my hair shorter during my first trimester..LOL (no mood nor energy to step into the hair salon). I don't like my hair now coz I can't do any rebonding or colouring. Look at that cheeky little girl with her gummy smile..haha.

I don't really get much compliments at this age anymore..LOL..and also being a SAHM I seldom encounter new people nor do I go out often but....there is one remark I always get (after having a child). Not sure whether it's a compliment or not...haha.

This is what I get all the time, "Your daughter looks exactly like you!" Friends, relatives, and even strangers commented that Gwen looks like me...the way they say it was like Gwen is a copy paste version of me.

Sometimes I think it's too "kua cheung" (exaggerate). Nevertheless I'm proud to hear that..hehe..which makes my husband kinda jealous. :P

Gwen's Progress In Mandarin

Right after we moved ourselves back to KL from Jakarta in end of December last year, I quickly enrolled Gwen to Bao Bei Reading Wonderland. We really wanted Gwen to learn Mandarin as both of us can't speak or write in Chinese. That is why Gwen couldn't speak a word of Chinese...maybe a little Cantonese coz it's Mummy's mother tongue but Papa's vocab in Chinese is very limited almost zilch.

Gwen had her first trial class on 3 Jan 2012. After 5 days of trial class, Gwen joined Bao Bei immediately. She has classes Mon to Fri from 2-3.30PM. I am pleased to say that we can see significant improvement in her Mandarin now. After only a few months in Bao Bei Gwen is speaking Mandarin already. Although it's only simple conversation..it's a good start. :)

In Bao Bei, they teach her flash cards and according to them, recognizing the Chinese characters is very important. Gwen has completed her A card series and now she has progressed to B card.

Flash cards to be brought home after she has mastered those words. She is teaching us Chinese now..LOL.

I'm impressed Gwen could do her Chinese homework from kindy all by herself! She struggled in the beginning but now she is definitely better than me. I rely on nciku.com if I want to find out the Chinese characters.

I'm ashamed to say, I don't know the answer. -__- Gwen could read and pointed the mistake to me. She didn't know how to do the last one, luckily for Mummy there is, nciku.com. I managed to help her...phew.

From time to time Bao Bei will organize some activities/events for the family.

The first family event we joined was the CNY event. There were games and performances by the students and teachers too.

Hellooooo.......I'm back (might not be long coz my life has been very hectic and tiring as I'm handling everything on my own...hopefully I can still keep blogging)! Gwen just recovered from fever and now she is having cough and flu.

Thank you to my blogger friends who are thinking of me and asking how I'm doing now....thank you for remembering me from the bottom of my heart.

Where am I now? I'm still in KL lah. Ever since Gwen started kindy, I have been very busy. She is also attending Bao Bei now. I need to ferry her to school and Bao Bei everyday. Hubby is still in Jakarta now. He usually comes back to KL once every 2 weeks during the weekends (he cannot afford to take too many leaves).

Actually what is the "reason" that really keeps me away from blogging?

Yes..I'm pregnant! I'm 18 weeks pregnant now. I only found out in January coz I missed my period back then..if my calculation is correct, my baby is "Made in Jakarta"..LOL.

No doubt this is a piece of good news for my family especially my Hubby. But this isn't a smooth sailing pregnancy for me maybe due to my age as I'm considered 'old' to have a baby. This aunty here is going to be 38 in October this year.

I had complications and bad morning sickness during my first trimester. My morning sickness lasted about 2 months (feel like a human again when I'm in my fourth month). I was on bed rest (my Hubby took 2 weeks leave to take care of Gwen while I rested) coz I was having bleeding/spotting for almost 3 weeks!

I thought I had a miscarriage the first time I had bleeding at around 2AM. There was a lot of blood and some blood clots too. I called my Hubby in Jakarta and he quickly rushed home in the afternoon. I had to bring Gwen to the hospital alone with me around 7AM and waited in the ER for my Gynae to arrive about 8AM (it was a Saturday). Thank God, my baby was ok..kicking and moving. I was 12 weeks pregnant that time.

My Gynae prescribed Duphaston for me and I was on this medication on and off coz I had 2 more bleeding after that. Also I was injected with Progesterone for 4 days. For this duration of 3 weeks I've never seen a clean pantyliner/pad...it's either red or brown.

Finally the spotting almost stop around 16 weeks but another problem surfaced...I had a bad case of yeast infection. Damn! My Gynae gave me an internal exam and found out that some of the blood vessels on my cervix was bleeding! My Gynae applied some chemical to stop the bleeding. Came home with some cream and vaginal pesary (to be inserted into the vagina).

It has been almost 3 weeks I did not see any blood stain on my pantyliner. What a relief! I am praying for a smooth delivery and a healthy baby. I hope I don't have to endure anymore 'complications' till September.

Will update about Gwen and our holiday to Hong Kong in Feb when I have the time to blog. :)

My Last Post From Jakarta

One more day to go and Gwen and I will be moving back to KL for good. So, this will be my last posting from Jakarta and a rojak one which also include all my back-dated posts. :P

Somehow I'm not feeling excited about moving back to KL...well the thought of Hubby staying on here in Jakarta makes me not so looking forward to this coming Friday. Hubby is taking 2 weeks annual leave and we have already planned this earlier so that he would be around when Gwen starts school in Jan next year.

At least Papa get to send Gwen to her new school (like he used to do in Jakarta) for a week and spend some quality time with us. :(

Sorry for getting emo here, ok let's move on...

Remember I blogged about Kidzania? Here's a continuation of one of the "jobs" Gwen held in Kidzania.

LOL...Gwen was given a brief lesson on modelling.

Yes, there was a big stage for her to do her catwalk too! I tell you, Gwen is not born to be a model..her walk is quite awkward (maybe not enough practice and everything happened too fast). Only us and a couple were there in the audience.

Gwen Played Golf For The First Time

My Hubby has taken up golf ever since he landed himself in Jakarta. The main reason for this was he always gets invited to play golf for free so that's how it all started. Unlike Malaysia, it's not necessary to be a 'member' to enjoy golf here in Indon.

Papa bought Gwen a golf club and he took Gwen and I to the driving range one day.

Not bad...she got gaya here..haha.

It was not easy for her to hit the ball. Eventually she gets the hang of it. Don't think she will have this chance when she is back in KL. It was a good experience.

Once a week we usually will bring Gwen to Fun World without fail. Her fave game is Animal Kaiser.

Learning Mandarin

Gwen had her first Mandarin test few weeks ago. She only had Mandarin lesson once a week. I spent a few days preparing her for her Mandarin test. I'm glad she was able to write all the Chinese characters by herself with the correct sequence of strokes.

She got 100% on her Mandarin test. It was a simple test. I thought the test required her to write those Chinese characters but only numbers instead.

This is a good start. she is giving some positive feedback in learning Mandarin. I can't wait to send her to Bao Bei once we are back in KL.

I tested her and she got all correct.

Gwen's Farewell Party

Today (15th Dec 2011) is the last day of school for the 2nd term. On this day, Gwen had to bid farewell to Stellar Kids after almost 2 years studying there. :(

We decided to plan a farewell party for her to celebrate with all the students at her pre-school. We ordered Hoka Hoka Bento (a Japanese style fast food restaurant) for all the kids and teachers too. We also bought a cake (with lots of strawberries as topping) and fruit juices too.

The teachers and all the kids sang a few songs to Gwen. It was a warm and lively farewell party that Gwen will remember for a very long time.
