Redneck wine glasses

However, in the last 48 hours there have been some developments in this house. Our HG moved out. Some of y’all may have seen the post up on Facebook, but at 2:30 in the morning he elected to move out because he wanted to “salvage” his friendship with Alex. The events preceding this decision were 1. we asked him to contribute financially because ALL of our bills had doubled since he moved in, and some had tripled. We only wanted help with groceries and one or two of the utilities. 2. After several issues with HG leaving the t.v. on all night we asked him to please set the sleeper timer so it would auto-shut off after a few hours. This way he could do the watch till he slept bit AND the t.v. would get turned off. (pretty damn reasonable if you ask me.) Lastly, 3.  we set a curfew.

When HG initially moved in we did tell him there wasn’t a curfew per se, but we’d like to know if he’s going to be waltzing into our house post-midnight just because you know…door opening after midnight is going to freak me out unless I know why. However, HG didn’t have a car and he’s been borrowing Alex’s car. (This means the two of them have been sharing one car to get to two jobs in opposite directions. Skills!) This hasn’t been a big deal, but Alex had started to get frustrated with HG taking the car out and staying out till 1 or 2 a.m. HG evidently saw this as an issue because I guess he felt entitled to stay out however dang late since he was an adult.

(Although we were feeding, housing, clothing, etc him….so yea. You do the math.)

The straw that broke the camel’s back was when he used it to drop off Alex, drive to his job, NOT meet Alex over lunch to swap, and thus leaving Alex having to find a ride home and then sit and wait for me to get home because ALEX’s car and keys were elsewhere. Alex was pretty upset and pretty much said to me that he was going to have a major sit down talk and he wasn’t ever going to let him borrow the jeep again. I supported him because well that’s freaking retarded. The car owner should not be the one having to find rides and if you borrow a car then OMFG respect the rules.

(This isn’t also accounting for the multiple parts of Alex’s jeep that are now broken and only ever broke when it was being borrowed. Yet it was all situations where “I have no idea how / when / who did it happened.”)

Ironically this night, before Alex could do the major talk, he got the “I’m moving out text.” So …. hey no talk necessary, saves everyone the trouble. Thanks HG!

I’m pretty upset over the whole situation (can you tell) but not for me. I wasn’t happy he moved in, but whatever. He’s out and I’m totally cool. What I’m upset over is my husband got burned. Financially we now have to both absorb the cost to fix the jeep (no proof means no way to get former HG to help), all those bills …they are coming due now. Right as former HG moved out. Etc. And in all this Alex is just like “I don’t get it…”

Being a supportive wife sucks sometimes. I love my husband and I’d really like to give former HG a piece of my mind but I know he wouldn’t change and thus saying anything would achieve absolutely nothing, but also Alex really thinks that former HG is telling the truth when he says “I moved out to help [Alex] and Stephanie’s relationship.” So I’m keeping my mouth shut, supporting Alex regarding decisions he makes as this finishes out and living the philosophy of Lesson Learned!

Yup way more of a bitch-fest than I intended. Sorry y’all. I hope the randomly interspersed cute photos helped distract from the venting. Or at least gave you something to do other than read my vent.

After our vet visit I had the brilliant plan of going to IHOP for breakfast. Boy oh boy was that a big mistake! I walked out feeling slightly off. Within an hour I was huddled up in our bathroom sick as a dog. That was NOT the plan at all!

After spending most of my day Saturday ridding myself of some bad food I woke up Sunday tired but determined. After a slow morning we headed out determined to visit the Greek Festival.

We got there around 3 in the afternoon and immediately went straight to the shopping. Alex and I wanted to browse everything before deciding if we wanted to buy something. Since it was the last day of the festival we also wanted to see who would mark down their prices.

Afterwards we went for a tour of the Church. Y’all I know it’s not unusual to see amazing detail in churches but this was just mind-blowing. All of the iconography was hand-painted, the wood carvings actually carved in Greece and shipped over to this church. Simply amazing.

 After our tour Alex was getting the munchies so we slipped over to the food tent for some Souvlaki. I thought it was ok, but then again I was still pretty shaky food wise. Alex enjoyed all of his and half of mine so I’m going to assume it was quite tasty.

Feeling full and refreshed we went back to wandering the stalls. Alex learned that the “deal with all of the owls” was in reference to Athena. (Greek Goddess of Wisdom…her image is often depicted with an owl on her shoulder to symbolize that wisdom.)

I found some gorgeous earrings at 50% off (gotta love those last day sales) and Alex fell in love with a Fisherman’s hat. This was to be his souvenir he decided, so the hat was procured and he has pretty much worn in it straight through since. I think he could really pull off the whole “fisherman” look don’t you?

The last thing we did for the day was sit in the great amphitheater and watch the dancing.

The music was infectious and I really felt like getting down there and shouting “OPA!” but considering I had already fallen down the steps earlier in the day I decided that was a bad idea and so sat it out.

Well the little girl has made her appearance and me oh my she is ADORABLE.

Since I was traveling down there on Mother’s Day weekend I felt like bringing a little something special to Shelly to honor her status as a brand new Mommy. So I scoured Pinterest for ideas and diaper cakes were about all I could come up with. That didn’t seem quite right so I polled her for what she would like.

The answer…diapers and wipes! (Shows me how little I know.)

Anyway, so I thought I’d get her the requested items but I would package it in a super fun way.  I stopped at  the craft store for a bag, some paints, stencils (I have horrid penmanship…its embarrassing) and the most important thing to every gift, some ribbon!

Once I got home I pulled out the Purple paint as a way to honor her and I’s sisterhood (Purple Knights baby!) and got to work. When all was said and done I had an adorable bag that shouted out (I hope) how happy I am for her brand new title.

Secondly I piled wipes and diapers into a neat little pile before wrapping them with the ribbon. I wanted them to look pretty at least for the delivery part!

I had a moment or two where I wondered what I was thinking in getting such a small bag, but luckily it all fit together. So I ended up with a cute tote full of the requested items to both help Shelly out AND say “I’m so happy for your new role of Mom!”

I won’t deny on the way down I shed a few tears and lectured myself. I also prayed. I didn’t pray not to be sad or anything like that, because its ok that I’m sad about my situation. What I prayed for though, was that the joy and love and absolute happiness I have in my heart shine through to Shelly and Michael and their daughter. And you know what…

When I got to hold their daughter it was love at first sight. I don’t think anything but joy could have come out when I was around her! I can’t wait to see her again and I hope she’ll always know how much Aunt Stephanie adores her. Is she seriously not ADORABLLE!?!?

However, last weekend My Momma said “Come with me please” to an event and well who am I to say no to her? (OK just ask her about my 13-year-old self…I said no. A LOT.)

So my Mother and I gathered with a bunch of ladies from the church in our finery.

We received presents…because we’re special!

A message was shared and the words conveyed that we are all HIS daughters. And since He is a King, we’re all princess’.  (See Mom! I always told you I was a princess!)

And then we were all granted jewels so that all who passed by might know we are indeed royalty.

Personally I think I look quite regal as a Princess.
