Gong Hei Fatt Choi ~ ~

Chap Goh Mei or the fifteen day of CNY....a busy day for all the single young girls to prepare oranges containing their name and contact number on it with high hopes that after they throw it into the lake - a knight in shining armour would come riding their way to the beautiful princess on a silver horse the moment they get an orange in their hand. (A long ancient Chinese story cut short)

Wakakaka...so unbelievable that this tradition is still practised in this modern era...haha...what a waste for this tiny sweet little mandarine orange having to have its skin tattooed with a young girls telephone number and have to carry a heavy burden of having to ensure this little young girl gets her man of her dreams. Oh how we pity these oranges on this day...*kiddin*

Long story cut short, this is one of the most sweet mandarine oranges that we had during this Chinese New Year in 2012. Despite its tiny size, its able to produce lots of juice.

It has been barely 23 days that we just celebrated the English New Year 2012 – for the Chinese peoples we’re now doing the last minute marketing, cleaning up and rushing to bid goodbye to the year of the RABBIT 2011. The year of the rabbit has been an eventful year for us as we started our journey to venture into food blogging.

Thus,no matter how busy we are rushing around to usher in the year of the Dragon 2012..we would like to take this time out opportunity to wish all our readers / followers a very HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2012 ~~!! Cafe De Sky Garden which is located inside the hidden area of PJS just opposite the big pond which is smack in the middle of that area is a favorite place for the vegetarians. They also cater for different types of occasions (example: weddings, birthday, full moons). Not only do they serve fusion vegetarian cuisine but also vegetarian cakes and cookies. Ain’t this amazing that they also make vegetarian cakes & cookies?

Haha.. What made us curious to try out vegetarian meal for a change was our curiosity to find out how well a vegetarian cuisine can satisfy our hunger. Not only that, but also to see how good can a vegetarian meal imitate those meat dishes in terms of decoration,texture and taste. Thus, one of our vegetarian friends have recommended this particular place which he had his wedding dinner.

They have nicely decorated the place with Western outlook which gives you a warmth feeling while dining in.

Vegetarian burger – imagine they could even make the texture and the taste of the chicken burger just like that of Ramli’s burger. The “Chicken” itself is so crispy and tasty which goes very well with the salad dressing and vegetables that comes with it. We're amazed by how good the burger tasted which we believe that the bread was also made differently. We think that if they were to sell this burger outside together with the normal burgers -- no one could even differentiate which is the real "Chicken" burger. That's how good it is (^.^)

What we admire most about the food is that there’s lots of ingredients in its dishes served and their portion served is very big for one person’s dish. Thus, we would recommend you to share your meal unless you’re extremely big eaters. Price wise, we’d say its reasonable for the portion they serve with good environment settings. So vegetarian’s and non-vegetarians out there …it’s a great place to try out if you've not done so!!

Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant @ Empire Shopping Gallery

Rakuzen, an exclusively high end Japanese restaurant that has an outlet at the Empire Shopping Gallery that is committed to provide the highest standard of Japanese Food Dining. Rakuzen was shortlisted in the Best Japanese Restaurant category of the Time Out KL Food Awards 2010 and 2011.

It’s really difficult to get a place if you’ve never booked it earlier. We had to wait for 30minutes for a place to dine-in. Looking at the number of people queueing up in front of such a restaurant signifies that it must be worth the wait, thus we made a reservation and waited for their call if there’s any place available as it was full-house during Christmas night at Empire.

Their collection of Japanese sake, grape wine and etc which is enclosed in a nice glass cabinet. All these bottles reminds the gf of her soju.

Nicely decorated lights along the alley as you walked into the restaurant. Am surprised at how big the place was unlike its small entrance which gave us the wrong impression of the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, it’s like a hidden path which leads to a wider area of the restaurant with comfortable seating at the back. One of the best designed Japanese restaurant that we came in.

One thing that you will notice in Rakuzen is the extensive menu, with a variety of speciality dishes.

Hot green Japanese tea

Our starters, which is the Sake no Oyako Sanshumori (RM35) – comes with three different type of fresh salmon variety : Salmon, Salmon Belly & Salmon Roe Sashimi.

Look at the freshness of the salmon…gosh..it was amazingly fresh and good.

Salmon Roe Sashimi which was sweet and nice. Love the way how the juice oozes out from the eggs which is enriched with the salmon oil taste.

It looks like an alien eyeball starring at you.. lol

Sake Oyako don Zen (RM33) – Fresh salmon with rice, 3 different side dishes and fruits served together with the main course.

Can’t take my eyes off from the freshness of the salmon & its roe.

Chawanmushi is an egg custard dish found in Japan which uses the seeds of gingko. It usually comes together with the main course meal and eaten as an appetizer. The custard consists of an egg mixture flavored with soy sauce, dashi, and mirin, with numerous ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms, kamaboko, yuri-ne (lily root) and boiled shrimp placed into a tea-cup-like container which taste smooth and creamy.

Yasai Miso Soup – Tradisional Japanese soup consisting of a stock called “dashi” into which its mixed with softened miso paste which taste slightly salty.

Sashimi Zen to YakiZane Zen (RM42)

Freshly grilled fish served with a plate of fresh salmon.

Japanese tofu served with seasoned vegetables.

Niagara Otaru – Smooth chilled White Grape wine which cost us RM63 for a 300ml.

This restaurant really live up to its standards as they really have well-trained waiter/waitresses which greets you when you first enter and they serve you very well which make you feel like home. Though the price is slightly on the pricier side, the quality of the food makes up for it. We’re glad that our special night was worth the wait.

Tek Kee Noodle House @ Taipan specialises in "Wan Tan Noodles" serves a variety of very nice and big portions of dry and wet Wan Tan Noodles. (^.^). Not only does it serves noodles yet they also sells some cakes & pastries which we haven't had the chance to try as each time after the meal we're always way too full to chuck in the dessert. Check out the portion of the noodles serve below..their SMALL plate of noodles can be considered as LARGE plate of noodles for GIRLS (>.<)

Wan Tan Noodles with Char Siew & Siew Yuk ( Non - Halal dish)

Big portion "One Tonne Noodles" ("Wan Tan Noodles") *kidding*-- they truly give u a really one big chunk of Wan Tan Noodles when you mention the word **BIG**

Looks at their "Char Siew" and "Siew Yuk"

Herbal Duck Soup with "Wan Tan Noodles" - which comes with Chinese Herbs that does not emit very strong herbal smell. Good for those people who doesn't like the taste of Chinese herbs yet wanna drink them for health purpose.

The price they charge is very reasonable for such big portion of noodles as a meal for two (main course and drinks) could barely reach RM25. Where can you find a food centre around USJ which serves big portion, good quality, very nice and warming customer service and averagely priced noodles as good as Tek Kee Noodle House?

No harm giving it a try if you're a noodle lover..(^.^)

Ampang Mix Rice

Sometimes its best to have Chinese Hawker food at times when you can't find any good restaurants around to dine-in. Having to roam around Ampang area, there's lots of Chinese hawker centres to frequent so here we decided to simply pick one hawker centre which has lots of customer around.

We noticed that these days, having a normal Chinese hawker food ain't that cheap any longer. It may cost at least RM5 and above.

However, here at Ampang, they seem to have food served at a reasonable price. As you can see from the below pics both packets of mix rice cost barely RM10 for their large portion which is good if you're on budget. (^.^)

Sushi King @ Sunway Pyramid

On a weekday heading down to Pyramid doesn’t mean that it is easy to get a place to eat in Sushi King. Sushi King has been particularly famous among youngster as its one of the cheapest Sushi outlets to dine in if you’re craving for Japanese food. Thus, we decided to head down to one of the cheapest Sushi outlet at Sunway Pyramid to satisfy our craving for Japanese food. LOL!!!

We also took the opportunity to play around with some camera effects while waiting for a seat.

The conveyor belt is rather convenient to screen through the varieties of sushi available.Pretty much all the varieties of sushi available at the time would be put on different colored plates which represents different pricing for each and every sushi served. If you’re not careful with the plate color difference, you may end up paying more than what you’ve expected for just a normal sushi. So be wise and choose something worthwhile to eat while you’re there.

After spending some time with the camera, its finally time for us to indulge our Sushi meal. There were not as much varieties as what we expected on the conveyor belt, thus had to order separate meals from the menu.

Chuka Kurage (Seasoned Jellyfish)

Chicken Katsu Curry

Its Japanese Curry which is widely consumed in Japan. Pretty much like a Japanese national dish. Personally enjoy the dish as it's not spicy yet it has the strong curry flavour. Texture of curry feels like the “dhal” which you’d normally have it with roti canai.

Overall, the meal wasn’t as cheap as expected for big eaters like us…hahahaha..but it did satisfy our craving for a averagely nice Japanese meal.

Cheese sticks which cost RM 7.50 – very cheesy with thin crust bread which goes very well with the sauce below

At Papa John, there’s a choice to mix and match your pizza. Look carefully at the pizza which we ordered and you’d notice that this particular 9” regular pizza is actually a mixture of two different flavoured pizza – Super Papa pizza (assorted pizza with a mixture of vegetables) and All the meat (tasty beef pepperoni, Italian Beef Sausage, Chicken Roll, Beef Bits and Lean Ground Beef)

Classic, Ultimate combination of Tasty Beef Pepperoni, Italian Beef Sausage, Chicken Roll, fresh sliced mushrooms, Onions, Green Peppers and Black Olives. Baked with original pizza bread which cost us RM 21.90. Portion wise for a 9” pizza is rather too small for two big eaters.This size can be serve as snack portion.

The BF:	So what you think about Papa John outlet in M’sia?
The GF:	It’s different from the one I had in Korea. I think the Papa John pizza outlet in Korea makes the pizza much better
The BF:	Same outlet but you think there is better? How?
The GF:	The size of the pizza is much bigger and the texture of the bread is much better although they have the same ingredient. It’s still edible after all.. LOL

Overall, both of us agreed that the meal was satisfying. Price wise is pretty much similar to any other pizza outlets.

Levain ~ ~ a warm and lovely French-style bakery and café where you can savour soft, warm and superbly fresh breads and pastries while enjoying a cup of coffee/tea.

An old bungalow lot located in the heart of KL which is converted into a nice bread and pastries outlet.

Their collection of tea / coffee pots

At Levain, breads and pastries are baked all day using natural yeast, in a traditional stone oven which imparts a unique flavour and texture to the breads and pastries. The workers would have to often refill the trays fast in order to cater to the demands of the people. There’s a variety of bread/pastries available where you find it difficult to choose as everything looks so amazingly nice that you feel like taking each and every bread / pastries available.

This place did not fail to cater for the cake and macaroon lovers !! They even have a special section at the side selling cakes and macaroons!!

Overall view of the bread and pastries section. You’d be amaze by the number of people who frequent there. If ever you want to have bread/pastries for lunch there’s always a long queue at the counter and without fail during twice our visit to Levain, we found it difficult to find a place to dine-in. Thus, would have to wait for a table.

Nice environment settings to chill and dine-in with your family and friends over the weekend or even during lunch time on a weekday

It’s worth the effort to get there and queue up for a place to dine-in. We’re sure that there would be no regrets the moment you take a bite and indulge in its warm and superbly nice pastries with a cup of chamomile tea in your hand (^.^)

Yut Kee Snack

Looking for some nice sponge cake??

Drop by Yut Kee Restaurant in KL to get some nice soft sponge cake which is rich with eggs and kaya. Not like those normal sponge cake which you can find in the bakery. These sponge cake is freshly baked from the oven with their own original recipe and this has made it special.

They are selling it at RM9.00 per box. If you're planning to buy it by piece -- they're selling it at RM0.90/piece which is rather pricey yet for the different taste that you're getting --it's worth while getting the sponge cake from there You'd never regret paying for the expensive price.

Look at the texture and the layer of kaya which covers it... Ooow~ it melts in your mouth when it comes out from the oven.

This is one of our favourite place to frequent in Sunway Pyramid if there’s a need to have a seafood meal. Here in Manhattan Fish Market, they serve pretty fresh seafood.

Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter (RM 52.90) which comes with Deep fried fillet, Fried Calamari, oysters, Signature Manhattan Flaming Prawns served on a bed of garlic Herb Rice and Chips with scrumptious broccoli and carrots. The servings is fit for four persons.

Grilled Gala Platter (RM 52.90) which has Grilled fish fillet, tiger prawns and calamari with signature Garlic Herb Mussels, served on a bed of Garlic Herb Rice and Chips with scrumptious broccoli and carrots. This portion is fit for 2 persons.

Manhattan Fish n Chips - Cherry Snapper (Regular: RM 20.90) Fish dipped in batter and fried till crispy. Best with Chips and drizzled with signature Garlic Herb sauce.

Crispy Whitebait - An interesting mouth-watering deep fried whitebait served on a bed of Coleslaw with Raisins as starters. Crispy and chewy “anchovies” like dish which goes well with the the lemon.

Blue Lagoon (RM 9.50) - Good old lemonade with Curacao, topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream which tasted like sprite float.

Souled Out by far is one of "the bf's" favourite restaurants, as its has a good reputation for providing good food, great service and lively atmosphere which keeps making him want to visit there more often. Located in Desa Sri Hartamas, this time around "the bf" was with his colleagues and he was in his photoshooting frenzy mode ~

With a single sip of this alcoholic drink, "the bf" concluded that the alcohol sensation came with a massive taste of sweetness from the syrup mixture then a dash of bitterness from the chocolate cocoa powder taste with its thick smooth texture which came from the whipped cream bits of Coco Crunch

This is Souled Out's best-seller, Sake San! It's a must to try for salmon lover~ Nicely done salmon is compliment together with generous amount of Japanese mayonnaise along with dash of wasabi. The Lollo Rosso lettuce brings out the crunchy texture on every bite.

Just a fair warning as sometimes the wasabi being spread too much in some portion of the pizza.

Overall, the place is a nice hang out place with superb food!! It's a memorable place for him as I brought him there on a very special occasion ~ Best place to hang out if you're celebrating an occasion.

Gourmandis @ Citta Mall, Ara Damansara

Gourmandis, located inside Citta Mall which is a recent newly opened mall in Ara Damansara. It’s a nice bar & restaurant which serves a variety of fusion of Eastern and Western dishes. Items on the menu include seafood pastas fused with local delights and other western dishes. They also offer a selection of beer, wines and cocktails.

There’s a nicely decorated bar located in the inside section of the mall which serves a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We would say that the prices for the alcoholic drinks are very reasonable and they do have special promotions during their happy hours.

Hangout area within the restaurant which has nice seats by the corridor where you can chill and chat with your friends throughout the night with nice soothing music being played. They even have live telecast of games or news on television for the guest.

As this place is rather still new, it’s still a nice and peaceful hang-out area (picture above) as you still have room to breath.

Something worth trying as it's not only the decoration that’s nice but also the carbonara which is cook to perfection. That’s because we do not take too cheese or creamy type of carbonara served with bacon and raw egg. Trust us, that raw egg really brings out the nice rich flavor of the cream sauce served.

Lava Rock & Roll Grilled Chicken Chop (RM28)

Just like any other grilled chicken chop served with brown sauce, juicy and nice. However, what makes this serving different is just their potato (side dish).

Why??

That’s because its served with a unique mixture of cream sauce which has slight lime/lemon in it which makes it like sour cream potato that goes well with the chicken chop.

From the price of the meal, we would say this is a nice place to dine-in for couples on special occasions and a pleasant place to host company gatherings. You pay for the quality meal and good customer service. We love the environment as a hang out area after a busy working schedule. Hopefully they can maintain the quality of the place as the years goes by!!

Indulging Praline Mocha at Starbucks

Sharing is caring~ as both of us spent the evening at Starbucks while indulging on a grande size of Praline Mocha.

Warm bitter-sweet chocolate infused with the flavour of hazelnut combined with espresso and steamed milk, then finished with whipped cream and drizzled with mocha sauce.

Sometimes it's good to chill out at Starbucks when the environment is soothing, comfortable sofas, friendly barista and also an interesting round table for a great photo shoot!

I wonder how many of you remember the song above?? It may be old school song yet the moment I saw the name of this particular restaurant Mandy it reminds me of this particular song sung by Westlife!!
Mandy’s Café as its called if we literally translate it is located at the lower ground floor of Summit seems to have a very interesting food promotion as seen in the picture below.

This café serves a variety of food which we would categorize it as fusion dishes. On this particular day, we decided to try their Nasi Lemak Ayam and Mixed Grill.

Mixed Grill which comes together with Lamb, Chicken, a very long sausage with brown sauce, french fries and coleslaw.

Nasi Lemak Ayam serving which came slightly different from the typical nasi lemak. Here, the curry chicken is not very spicy, suitable for people like us who can’t bear to eat very spicy meal. The curry has a very nice strong combination of coconut milk which brings out the “lemak-ness” of the curry.

Interesting decoration for the nasi lemak..why we say so ?
That’s because you rarely see restaurants or café’s serving Nasi Lemak with peppermint leaf.

Overall, the meal was very satisfying, the price was rather reasonable for such a café. Nasi Lemak cost was approximately RM 7++ while the Mixed Grill was RM 17++ which the bill came out to approximately RM30 with two drinks.

Tony Roma's, famously known for their ribs - seafood - and steaks!!

It has a very nice and cozy environment to hang out with your love ones or even have a celebration at the wonderful place. We love the environment settings at Tony Roma's which is dimly litted with soothing music being played while you dine-in comfort. It's also decorated with pictures of past celebrities which had frequent the place as well as happy faces of people enjoying their meal. The waiter's and waitresses are well-mannered and they make you feel like you're at home having a nice cozy meal.

Each time you walk-in, they have prepared a complimentary set bread served with garlic butter. The garlic butter taste is rather flat yet how the mixture of the hot served bread with it brings out a unique garlicy taste. Somehow, you would have to eat it while the bread is hot else...it won't taste good. A taste which is something hard to describe unless you have it yourself...oh well..its each individual preference if you like the taste of the butter. Overall, its good to us.

Pina Colada - A non-alcoholic drink which has a mixture which is rich with coconut milk and pineapple extract. It taste really good -- you would never get your drink wrong if you order this at Tony Romas...highly recommended by us if you wish to try something different.

Tony's Asean Salad

Fresh chopped Asian greens, diced red peppers, Thai chili sauce, cilantro, fried wonton noodles and sesame seeds. Served with Pan Asian dressing and Crispy Chicken made it perfect to our Asean tongue...hehe..could never get bored of its unique taste. The portion served for this salad is as good as for 3-4 people at once.

Tony Romas Steakhouse Burger

A grilled pure-beef burger topped with Cabernet demi-glace, creamy Havarti cheese which melts in your mouth and rosemary bacon which is made to perfection. The portion is rather big - fit for 2 persons if you're not a big eater.

Overall, you pay for the price of the big meal served and good customer service you get. Worthwhile going there for a good meal once a while as we won't say that's its cheap. We would recommend that each meal that is in the order would be perfect for 2 persons who is not a big eater. Else,you would pretty much end up like us --trying hard to stuff just two simple meals into our stomach as the portion served is rather huge.

Craving for Char Siew & Siew Yuk ?? Don't really know where to find the best Char Siew that can melt in your mouth??

Recently we've found one at Jalan Pudu just behind Shaw Parade, KL and a walking distance away from Berjaya Times Square. This place has been well known among *pork freaks* for ages which we didn't really believe it was that great..so we decided to drop by over the weekend to have a bite.

Oh boy, didn't we expect to find a long queue right in front of the restaurant with the entire placed swarmed with people waiting hungrily for the roasted pork to be served even before it was 12.30pm. OMGosh!! The place was pretty stuffy, and we had to push our way around to just place our order. BEWARE!!! Never fool around with HUNGRY PEOPLE as you never want to get yourself over a food fight !!

Here, you can see the uncle concentrating hard to divide the roasted pork evently or more so cut it into small pieces to cater to more hungry people... LOL!

(Ps: Ladies and gentlemens who are health conscious ...I know what's in you're mind the moment you see this -- yet ain't this the best part to indulge in??..hehe)

Oh well, this restaurant do not only serve pork but also Chicken rice as well as Chinese dishes which you can order seperately.

The "KAK" which is trying her best to prepare all the Chicken Rice orders....I wonder if it's that good as our aim was to try their "Char Siew" and "Siew Yuk".

Andre: Char Siew is ok..nothing much special about it. Taste like any other Char Siew you can find in other places.

"Siew Yuk" / Roast Pork

Andre: The roast pork was made to perfection...the layer of oil which can be found on the meat melts in your mouth very smoothly...hehe...this is so sinful!!

If you're very hungry and you crave for Pudu Char Siew Siew Yuk at this place....be prepared to be VERY VERY PATIENT for you food as they take very long time to serve your meal. They may be rather rude as their business is so good that they don't care much of good customer service -- Be it you take away or eat in.

Also, it's rather pricey for the meal...Be prepared for at least RM15 per head!!

Our lazy day out made us order Yellow Cab Pizza. This particular pizza franchise originated from New York is rather different from the usual pizza which we normally have which seems to be more thick and soggy. This innovative pizza specializes with their New York-style pizzas which offers the best and freshest ingredients.

Unlike most pizza outlets we head to, Yellow Cab seems to be focused mainly on pizza and very few side dishes are available. They do have side orders, yet they pretty much missed out on one of our favourites which is the bread sticks...hehe...Oh well, fair enough they compensated them with other side dishes like spaghetti, hot wings and etc.

Looking for a cafe that's open 24hours in KL???

There's one in Pandan Indah called Restaurant In House Cafe which opens round the clock. From our first impression, it looks like lots of students or family would frequent to this particular cafe to have dinner or more or like supper as it was difficult to find a spot to dine-in.

It looks like a nice place to hang out with a kampung style like environment -- why I'd say its kampung like ?? That's because the cafe is constructed with wood like barriers and having had wooden table and chairs just reminds me of the good old days when you head back to your hometown -- you'd see lots of coffee shop with this type of environment setting which tends to attract the old folks to just hang out with their buddies for a nice long chat. Yet, what makes this place different from the coffee shop is there's music, live football telecast (add-on and not necessarily meant for football like those you see at the mamak) and wi-fi connection provided.

As this was our first time dropping by at this particular cafe, we decided to try their recommended dish on their menu which was their Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken, Pork Burger and their specialty Ice-Cream Sandwich as our dessert.

It turns out that our dessert came first before our main dish...oh well..maybe we forgot to remind them to bring it last or either it was their trend of serving desserts first. Luckily the dessert looks very appetizing. In fact, the dessert looks rather simple to myself as I think it was easy to prepare. It was just a loft of bread --practically cut in a square shape which was baked to have crust all around the four outside corners while they maintain the softness of the bread inside. With this texture, they dug a hole in the middle and insert two different flavoured ice-cream which comes together with groundnut and chocolate toppings as shown in the picture below. I would say the mixture of the ice cream and the bread portion was just nice and it taste good. After having eaten 1/2 of this ice-cream sandwich my tummy was pretty much full already before my main dish came.

Thank goodness I ordered Pork Burger which came in such a cute portion *bleks* Oh well...this was not what I expected out of my Pork Burger..its just that the Ice-Cream Sandwich filled most of the space in my tummy already. Honestly, I was expecting the portion of this burger to be like Ramli Burger size. This burger didn't taste as good as I expected. The pork was rather too dry and less crispy. The chilly sauce which came with it didn't suite my tastebud as I was expecting it to come with mayonase.

I'd give thumbs up for their Nasi Lemak although the portion of the curry was rather small. Chicken was slightly tough..maybe the cook wasnt too happy that day *kiddin*..lol...The sambal was good yet the overall portion is small if its gonna be a main course meal.

Overall it was just so -so ..edible meal yet it's rather pricey for such a small portion serve. I would recommend this place more of like a get-together hang out place where you just order snacks and drinks rather than going for a meal as their portion serve is rather small if you're having a regular meal.

Taiwan House @ Ampang Point

If your a Taiwanese food freak...don't miss out dropping by at Ampang Point shopping centre to have an authentic Taiwanese meal. It's known as Taiwan House and it never fails to attract lots of customer...thus this has brought out the curiousity in us to have a go at their Taiwanese food by looking at the huge number of crowd sitting in the restaurant at Ampang Point.

Bear in mind that in the first place, we don't even know what is nice when it comes to Taiwanese food. Yet, from their cute moo moo logo..I guessed, Taiwan should be famous for its BEEF??!! So it shouldn't be that bad trying out their food as long as there's beef in it..hehe

Look at the number of people frequent to the shop...we're surprised to know that Taiwanese food is really famous among Malaysians.

Since we didn't know what's real Taiwanese food is, we decided to peep over to other people's table to see what is famously ordered in this particular place. From the servings on their table, it looks like a lot of people ordered Beef Noodle Soup so we decided to go for Taiwanese Beef Glass Noodles and Dried Beef Pan Mee. However, as for starters, we decided to have a go at their Taiwanese Pancake.

Taiwanese Pancake which reminds me of Korean pancake..however, this particular Taiwanese pancake is way much thinner and crispy..kind of plain to me as it is made out of pure flour and spring onion unlike the Korean pancake which is much more thicker and filled with lotsa spring onion leaves.

Taiwanese Beef Glass Noodles

Here we find they serve juicy beef with lots of garlic. I wonder if Taiwanese people loves garlic that much? This serving got us thinking if this is how the Taiwanese people love to indulge in galic during their meals. We'd not saying that it taste bad but too much garlic is over-killing the appetite.

Dried Taiwanese Beef Pan Mee

After mixing all the ingredients above, this looks like any normal pan mee. However, we found that the noodles was rather different from those usual yellow mee type of noodles..yet its also not like the pan mee type of noodles. It's like those Hakka noodles which doesn't taste too soggy. Maybe we shall say, this is the Hakka mixTaiwanese noodles?? hehe....**wonder what they call this noodles**

Overall, we found the food was *OK* - edible and not really suitable for our tastebud as we found that its full of Taiwanese spice/herbs mixture in their beef seasoning. Especially the dried beef glass noodles which was rather over-killing in addition to their large portion of garlic mixture in it.

Don't get us wrong that we dislike Taiwanese meal from this first try.. we'd still love to try out more authentic Taiwanese dishes even though this particular shop dish didnt give us much good first impression. Maybe its the way how they Malaysia-Nized the Taiwanese food which made it taste rather awkward.

So you guys out there ..Taiwanese or not Taiwanese ..do let us know what authentic Taiwanese food is and what are your recommendations!!

We'd like to hear more from you guys out there on you're experiences with Taiwanese food !! (^.^)

De Canter PJ @ Seksyen 17 - an eating outlet which is popular with their collection of wines and food. Food servings ranges from Chinese to Western food.This place has a nice collection of wine and environment wise, I would say its a more suitable place for couples to have candlelight dinner.

Hainanese Chicken Chop which was juicy and crispy which comes together with dark mushroom sauce, onions, fries and not to forget its nicely decorated serving.

Decanter Famous Penang Laksa - which we found it as one of the best Penang Laksa's found in Kuala Lumpur. Full of taste as well as the cook was generous with the ingredient. It has lots of fish bits and onions which brings out it amazing laksa soup taste. The sourishness is just so appetizing -- Emmm...yummy...especially when you add in the dark prawn paste to enhance its taste. Cant get my hands off this bowl of laksa -- you may see that this serving is small...indeed it is small (PS: I'm saying that it's small). Apparantly..if I'm so wanting to fill my tummy - I think I could even gobble down 3 bowls of this amazing laksa.

Overall, the meal was satisfying and exceeded our expectation. However, price wise - its slightly pricey as expected as it is located in the central of PJ and caters more towards working adults to dine.

TJ Haus -- a reasonble German Restaurant located at ss18 Subang Jaya !! We would say that its a magnificient romantic place to dine in with your love ones especially during special occasion. This wonderful place provides you the best environment with nicely decorated decors and soothing music which makes your meal a pleasant one. The place is beautifully decorated the moment you stand at the bottom of the step leading up to their shop which has air-con / non air-con seating.

On this particular night, we decided to order some of their specialty dishes -- Lamb served with special sauce , beef stew and cheese cake.

Overall, the meal was very satisfying ...especially after having a nice dessert after meal. Yummy~~ we didn't regret paying RM80++ for the meal. We would say it's rather pricey -- yet for this sumptious meal and wonderful dessert ..why not pay once a while for that price just to pamper your tummy ..hehehe..btw this place is highly recommended and its also HALAL!!

Interested to go back in time, feeling slightly laid back and enjoy the good old days of hanging out in a traditional coffee shop - place where you get to see the elderly people hang out, chit chat with a cup of coffee on the old wooden marble table and non-air con ??

Kedai makanan Yut Kee literally translated as Yut Kee eating outlet seems to be one of those few old Chinese coffee shop that could be found in Kuala Lumpur that is still surviving in the rapidly transforming city. This particular coffee somehow manage to preserve its heritage for the younger generations.

How to get there??

You can either take the train - Star LRT and stop at Dang Wangi Station. Turn left from the main entrance of the train station and walk to the end of the road, then turn right at the junction opposite CapSquare. Take a 5minute walk down the row of shoplot on your right. The shop is just at end corner of the shoplot.

Or drive there, the coffee shop is located just behind Sheraton KL.

Here, they serve various kinds of dishes from Chinese to Western dishes. This particular coffee shop is famous for its "Roti Babi", which comes with mince pork wrap in french toast bread. This small serving would cost you RM 8.00. A little pricey for such a bread yet once you have a bite, you'd never regret paying for the price!!

Their less famous ginger beef kuey tiaw which I found it very nice and feeling. It's does not taste at all like those typical starchy beef kuey tiau served as its less starchy and has nice young ginger cooked with it which suited my taste bud. Comes in a reasonable portion with lots of ingredients - RM 6.00.

Worth taking the chance to order this particular dish.

Beef Noodles

Their famous Hainan Chicken Chop which is served differently from most of the restaurant. As you can see its chicken is tender and juicy. It comes together with a great mixture of mushroom sauce, onions and mix vegetables which goes well with the tender chicken. To my surprise, it only cost RM8.50 which is very much reasonable.

Zest, a Mediterranean food shop which opens at Bangsar South -- seems to be an ideal place to hang outduring lunch or dinner if you want to have something not too heavy. The meal comes in fine dining style.

Having gone there during lunch time, it had lunch set meal which is affordable. The set meal came with the common starter - mushroom soup which was rather different from the usual which coloured canned mushroom soup with a piece of french toast bread. It seemed to me that it was made from fresh black mushroom which I could taste its authentic mushroom bits.

I went for their Hearty chicken set which came in an interesting portion of meat that was seasoned with herb and spices with mashed potatoes, garlic bread toasted to perfection and mix fresh vegetables. The taste was truly unique to my tongue. Indescribable!!

As for the price - it may be slightly pricey to some of you as it cost RM15.90++ which was before additional service tax.
