I feel like Ricky Bobby sometimes in front of the camera; what to do with my hands? I usually end up awkwardly grasping something like a piece of fabric or hair haha. Anyway...the magical dream sale corset-back pansy-print trench coat makes it's second appearance, not because I don't love it enough to wear it all the time, but because I love it so much I'm afraid to use it, like a fragile collector's item. My equivalent of a Faberge egg came from Anthropologie, the skirt I made myself, the top, bracelet and tights are from Forever 21, and lace up boots from Wet Seal.

1. Bare legged outfits by Sincerely Jules, All The Pretty Birds and A Fine Day For Sailing make me wish I wasn't such a weather wimp - it's not really winter in Santa Cruz, but I still need tights and more layers to be comfy.

2. The simplest, coolest diy collar evah - hardware store goodies and glue or clear thread.

3. I'm about halfway though Just Kids by Patti Smith and I don't want to put it down, hardly even long enough to make this collage and recommend it to you

4. I recently picked up some apricot gelato at Shopper's Corner and am in food heaven! I hope to find a place and unearth my ice cream maker by summertime.

One of my favorite people ever, Angelina, has been visiting, which coincided with my being sick and bedridden so I only got to see her a few times. Ange's one of those friends whose presence is always warm, fun, open and an inspiring gift. I hope she moves back here in the near near future... though I also want to visit Brooklyn before she leaves! I need to raise money... does anyone need help with their blog layout??

The night before my girl flew back to New York we got to hang out and go to dinner, stopping to take a few photos before the light left. She's coming back in a month, so I was able to happily cavort a bit for her in my stripey H&M sweaterdress and pink vintage velvet embellished loafers (both picked up from different Crossroads Trading Companies) topped with a cardigan/dress from Target.

Happy weekend ya'll!

I'm excited for a family bbq tomorrow and the one day off Eric and I have together.

Isn't that collar just crying out for some studs?? It's raining right now, but this is from last week when it wasn't quite as cool. And, this is the last outfit post with the old camera, bye bye point-and-shoot! I wore a thrifted blouse under a Forever 21 sweater, secondhand Element jeans, Wet Seal boots, and I got the plaid bucket bag on sale at Urban Outfitters.

I've been sick in bed for most of the weekend, which has meant a lot of sleeping and a little self-pitying because I got a wonderful new lens but it's been raining and I'm too tired to take it out! I've been reduced to stalking Eric while he's reading and food before I eat it...

Basic Baby Tater Bake

One of the easiest and tastiest ways to cook vegetables is, to me, baking. The other night I had to use up the sack of mixed potatoes I couldn't resist picking up for their cute factor. I set the oven to 400 degrees and chopped the taters into two to four pieces each so they'd cook quickly. I threw in a few skinny carrots for good measure, tossed the pieces with olive oil, salt, pepper, minced onion, garlic and a splash of balsamic vinegar and baked them on a cookie sheet for thirty minutes. Yumm!

Sorry for the squints, it was a very bright and windy day. I wore two pairs of tights just so I could try out the ah-dorable lace shorts I received from oasap.com. They are so comfortable and cute, I'm pretty sure every pair of shorts needs to be covered in layers of lace. Now I can check off one of my "wishlist" items! I'm already considering the beige pair for summertime.

It's supposed to be raining by the weekend, so I thought I'd take advantage of the clear day to wear a F21 tee under my gilt cardigan (under a bigger coat once the sun went down) along with my trusty Dollhouse shoes. Farewell sunshine, let's get down to more Winter layering ♥

I've become enamored of GREEN! I recently added two malachite items to my closet and am finishing up a green bracelet for myself and a split pea soup-colored scarf for Eric. We're going to be set for Saint Patrick's Day, which is a good thing considering his love of bangers & mash; we'll most likely be going to a local Irish pub.

I finally watched Breakfast at Tiffany's in it's entirety and cannot believe I missed the existence of tasseled earplugs! I'm a light sleeper and I love tassels and have several in my craft stash so look out, ears! Check out the etsy search results :)

I just received a second Avon be blushed creme in Tropical Peach, to go with the Pink Melon stick I've been using continuously since I got it several months ago. They give a great sheer blush, just like Audrey's bedroom flush up there.

Oven roasted vegetable with olive oil, garlic, salt & pepper, mmm.

I forgot how much I like this movie...

I basically lived in this sweater over this lovely weekend, cold and crisp yet sunny and clear and full of girlfriend and tamale dates, new cocktails, sleeping in, and more eats. I found this striped knit sweater on the super sale table; it's super soft and woolen and I wish they had more colors! Worn with my favorite beanie and some vintage velvet loafers, I was set and feeling snazzy. My good friend Ange is visiting from Brooklyn and we met up Friday to eat outrageous food and drink at Betty Burger, pop through the Gap (see sweater above), and lock down our favorite side room at a small local bar for fizzy champagne and Gambit cocktails plus good friends. More of that and more knits, please!

Meghan & the Pansy Dream Coat

Story time! Last Fall I saw this beautiful corset-back trench coat on a stray trip through Anthropologie in Carmel. It was way beyond my price range (I don't know why I even bother entering that store!) even when it went on sale online, and I never stopped pining over it. On New Year's Eve Eric dropped me off at the mall in San Jose for some shopping, ended up wandering through the Anthropologie hoping I'd score a nice belt on sale. I checked the back sale room half-heartedly and almost screamed when I saw that gorgeous tell-tale pansy print fabric in a pile on the ground under another shoppers bags. I danced around behind her dementedly before getting up the nerve to interrogate her about the coat. It turned out she didn't want it and it was my size so I danced to the register with it, even though the price on the tag was still $99. I figured I'd just eat a lot of Taco Bell until next payday. But when she rang it up, it was fifty dollars, an internet return and the only one in the store!!! I am so grateful for the weird flukes that brought this pretty pansy print coat into my wardrobe. I wore it in full technicolor glory with purple Kill City jeans and raspberry suede slippers.
