While supplies last, we will also supply you with waterproof, tear-resistant paper (yea, that's right!) for your printed maps. This stuff is INCREDIBLE!! Take it from me, you'll never have to worry about soggy torn maps and ziploc bags again - just fold a map printed on this Teslin-based paper in half, stick it in your backpack, and go for a hike, or wade across a river! - it's really that easy. Drop on by to Outdoor Sportz in Eugene, Oregon - browse our gear, talk with us about outdoor gear, rent a video or a power kite, and print out a free topo map! By donating your unused items to our fundraiser you can help a young child to have a toy to play with, a backpack to hike with, or some warm clothing to enjoy our great outdoors in. Unfortunately, a lot of youths won’t have a Christmas this year. A lot of organizations are in short supply of the equipment necessary to help troubled youths experience the outdoors. By donating your unused or used items you will help to remedy these unfortunate circumstances.

We are collecting outdoor gear of all types to be given to the agencies listed below in order to support our youths in need. We are looking for outdoor gear such as clothing, backpacks, gloves, footballs, basketballs, bats, tents, climbing gear, cold weather gear, rain gear, or anything outdoor related. Please, give what you can.

“Socks, Mittens and Meds”
United Way and Local School Districts are spearheading the “Socks, Mittens and Meds” campaign. This important project provides basic winter supplies and medication to low income school-age children and youth. Socks to provide warmth and protect feet. Mittens to warm hands. Medicine to treat acute and chronic illnesses. Children can access care at the School-based Health Centers when they are ill, but many are unable to pay for prescriptions. Outdoor Sportz will be a drop off collection point for this program as well as the program “Youths In Need”

All items will be donated to the following agencies:

St. Vincent dePaul’s
United Way
Youth For Christ
Family Research Center
Catholic Community Service

Drop off Collection spot:

Outdoor Sportz
Off of Chambers near 2nd Ave
1702 W. 2nd Ave Unit A
Eugene, OR. 97402

Questions contact:
Greg Gore
541-686-0165

Free Action Sports Videos!!

At Outdoor Sportz, we have now expanded our Holiday Free Video Giveaway to nearly ALL of our products! If you do not have the right board, you'll find it more difficult to do maneuver the way you'd like to - and if you're just starting out, you might find yourself having trouble learning all the right kitesurfing techniques.Of course, the easiest way to find a kitesurfing board would be to look for one of the many kitesurfing shops that have started up. These stores should help you find a board as well as some of the other equipment that you're going to need in order to go kitesurfing. One problem, however, is that since this is a relatively new sport, it's possible that you won't be able to find a kitesurfing store near you. As a result, you may have to order from one of these stores online.Another way to find a good board would be to go to any nearby water sport stores. These should have a lot of different equipment that you can use for several different water sports, including kitesurfing, wakeboarding, and windsurfing. Usually, you will also be able to find somebody who works in the store who is also willing to help you find exactly what you're looking for. This is not the only way that you can get good advice, however. If you live near a popular kitesurfing location, then you should go down there some time. By talking to the people who are already involved in the sport, you should be able to find out which brands and types of board are the best for kitesurfing. You can also ask a kitesurfing instructor - they should have a good idea as to which boards are best for beginners. You may be able to use a wakeboard to go kitesurfing if you are just starting out. However, if you want to find the best board for kitesurfing, you should get one that has been specifically designed for this sport. That way, the design and size of your board will be perfectly suited to the sport that you're going to be participating in.

How can I find the best kitesurfing kite?

by Jakob Jelling
As you can probably already guess, you can't go kitesurfing with just any kite and expect the results you want. However, you also can't just go out with any kitesurfing kite. There are a lot of different features to every kite - and these features will have a major effect on how the kite handles, and what sorts of tricks you'll be able to do with it.For instance, if you're just starting out, you'll probably want to look for a kite that has been designed specifically with beginners in mind. What this means is that you're probably not going to want anything that is going to a lot of lift (compared to a normal amount for kitesurfing). The reason for this is that the more lift you have, and the less of your weight is resting on (or under) the water, the faster you'll be capable of going. While increased lift and speed is exciting for an experienced kitesurfer, it will make it very difficult for a beginner to maintain control of either the kite or the board. One thing that you should check out on the kite would be the tubing inside of the kite. If the tubing is thin in the front, then that means the kite will turn faster. On the other hand, if the front tubing is thick, then this means that the kite will turn slower. Slower turns are probably better for beginners, since it will give more time to prepare for each turn.Another thing that you should consider is how tight the fabric is going to be around the outside of the kite. If the fabric is very tight, then it will mean that the kite will turn more quickly. On the other hand, if the fabric is not so tight, then the kite will be more sluggish in the air.No matter which brand of kitesurfing kite you're looking at, you should always check out the different features in order to find out whether or not this particular kite is the best one for you. If you're not sure which one is best for you, then you should ask for help from somebody who has more experience with kitesurfing.

<feedburner:awareness>http://api.feedburner.com/awareness/1.0/GetFeedData?uri=OutdoorIssues-EnvironmentSafetyNewPlayToys</feedburner:awareness>
