We are coming to Week 6 of our training program. I am proud and glad that everyone in the team are determined and committed toward preparing ourselves physically and mentally for the Mt Rinjani climb. The team attendance every week has been encouraging, leading to a stronger team bonding and improving our fitness. Initially, the trainings are tough, as expected to be but by going thru 5 weeks of trainings unscathed, we progressed each week to another level. Well done BOYS and GIRLS!

It's the time of the year for MotoGP fans all over the world particularly in this region to gather once again for another spectacular event at Sepang MotoGP 2011. Unfortunately, this year's event will be remembered for it's tragic ending to an Italian rider's life, Marco Simoncelli, after a horrific crash. Simoncelli crashed and fell on the second lap then, unfortunately got hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. The race was stopped immediately with a red flag and then cancelled. On behalf of Outdoor Kakeez, we would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family and may he Rest In Peace.

With the natural beauty and peace & serenity of Mt Stong of course... What a weekend we've had. It was actually a reccee trip for us to find out & explore more about the place, but it turns out to be a weekend filled with adventure, a new experience, lots of joy & laughter, and most importantly, the spirit of band of brothers that we uphold is there for all to witness. I must say that it was indeed a blessing in disguise for all of us as we got more than we expected throughout the trip.

A BIG thank you to the people of Dabong, Kelantan, for their great & warmth hospitality to our group, from the time we alight the train, till the time we board the train back home. Special thanks to 'Uncle' Adam & his family, it was really a great honour for us to meet them. Although our friendship is only just, but the bonding that we've had with them was great that we actually felt sad to say goodbye to them. 'Uncle' Adam & family, Thank You & God Willing, We Will Return...

The majestic waterfall

Let me summarize what we did over there.

- Caving exploration. 3 caves in total. It was indeed an awesome sight!

- One night stay at Baha's campsite which was located at the top of the waterfall. Captured the night scenery and sunrise. Dip ourselves into the cool waterfalls.

- Experienced the different levels of waterfalls throughout our way up to the summit of Mt Stong, 1420m above sea level.

- The view was simply breathtaking. The sound & sight of the waterfalls makes u feel at peace & relax.

It was soo enjoyable.. Really satisfying...

We've had our final training session on a bright & sunny Sunday morning over at Bt Timah Hill before we fly off to Mt Kinabalu for a 6 days of adventure program. After the training, we had a briefing about the trip followed by a Q&A sessions. Personally, I'm excited about the trip, as I have been in the past. And from the look on everyone's eyes, I can see that they are eager and waiting anxiously for the day to come.

For the past 7 weeks, we have bring the group together on every weekends for our trainings cum bonding session. I think by now, we all know each other well and I can observe that the group have bonded well together. That's the team spirit that we've been trying to uphold and hopefully a good teamwork will bring success to the group and making this trip a more memorable one. We've trained hard and we've trained well. We must be humbly confident and believe in ourselves that we are ready. Best wishes to everyone and I hope and pray that we will all have a safe climb and enjoyable trip throughout. God Willing....

My F1 @ Sepang Journal

After a great start to the season opener at Australian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel continued his winning streak in Sepang International Circuit. Qualified for pole position, he leads from the starting grid all the way to the chequered flag undisputed and untouchable with a comfortable lead of about 3+ sec apart from his closests contender, Jessen Button, who had a pretty much a roller coaster ride on his way to runner’s up.

Though all eyes are focused on the rivals between the top 2 teams, the Redbull and McLaren, the other teams are set to give a good clean fight as what we had witness at Sepang this time round. Ferrari with Massa and Alonso put up an impressive performance as they both had improved their positions.

I have always been a fan of team Ferrari since Schumacher’s era with the team, and I’m still a fan after his comeback even he’s with Mercedes GP now. With Ferrari not doing so well in the championship, I’ve keep my options open. The competition is more or less on the same level nowadays, even though Vettel seems unbeatable, but it’s still early as the season just started.

Before the start of the race, we bought ourselves shirts of the F1 teams we supported. As for me, I get myself a McLaren Mercedes Vodafone shirt which cost me quite a bomb, but WTHeck.. J. Voices telling me ‘Just buy and Just sign’.. Hmm …anyway, one of McLaren driver came 2^nd which was not bad after all.. I guess.

Off Pit, when night falls, we drove to downtown KL, where we did a little bit of shopping at the nite market. The place was crowded even though it was in the wee hours of morning. We end the nite with a packet of hot nasi lemak and bottled drinks along the busy street of KL.

In a nutshell, we all enjoyed the race very much and the experience of viewing it from the Main Grandstand, just opposite the paddock, was indeed awesome. Although the ticket cost me another bomb, it was worth it. Personally, deep down, I hope that I would be able to witness Schumi up in a podium at least once this season.

Gunung Panti

After my 4 years of struggle, completing my course, it's time for me to escape for a short trip to Gunung Panti to acclimatize my body before my big trip to Mt. Kinabalu in May. I have always envisioned myself to do some GCS (group conditioning session) with my climbing "kakeez". Towering at 510m-obtained from the internet, (altitude reading from G-Shock Riseman Watch- about 535m), Gunung Panti is a good training ground if you are heading for your major trip to a much higher mountain, example Mt Kinabalu. I'm not sure why Panti is called Gunung (mountain) as it is just 510m whereas a mountain should be above 600m. It should be call Bukit Panti or Panti Hill. Otherwise, it is still a nice place to start my GCS other than my weekly Bt Timah hike.

0650 hrs: Mywife and I arrived at Marsiling MRT station to meet the rest of our "kakeez" and of course Jerry and Joseph, the trip organizer. With some new found friends, we crossed to the neighbouring country for the GCS. Before reaching Panti, we stopped for breakfast to fuel ourselves with energy for the climb.

0940 hrs: We started trekking towards the dense forest lead by Joseph, our pathfinder. We were lost for awhile and had to track back. Finally Joseph found the correct path. He remembered that we had to cross a small stream before meeting the right track. Of course, photos were snapped from every angle within a few minutes interval. As for Sebastian, he was practicing his shots for his upcoming event....Mt Rinjani.
As we moved on, we could see abundance of mushroom covering the floor of Panti forest. Not to forget, the Panti 'vampires' wriggling their way and clinging on to our shoes and climb up to suck healthy Singaporean blood- ‘vampire’ leeches! This is their paradise....

From the skyline of the forest, I realised it was going to rain anytime soon as the sky turns dark abruptly. Soon after, rain droplets start to fall on my face. Continuous downpour through the openings of the tree canopy marred my vision. But we march on....

Jerry pointed me to the rock face ahead of us and said “it will be the summit after we surpass this sets of boulders”. We were excited but due to the wet surface we had to take one step at a time. Finally, at 1215 hrs we reached the summit of Panti with our drenched clothing, delighted with a little disappointment- seeing rubbish flooding the peak. Suhardi, Heikal, Azami, Azaman, Daya, my wife Monggur and me lined up for our ritual photo taking session. Not forgetting Sebastian and our new found friends Sharon, Jerry and Joseph.The shower stopped just enough for us to snap a few photos and it starts again. Cats and dogs......

We managed to have a hasty lunch before declining from the peak. The rain did not help with our descent. The path we trekked up now turns into a small stream. I slipped a few times and almost fell while trekking down. We reached quaint Rainforest Resort at 1445 hrs and had another shower but this time in the toilet. About 1600 hrs, we loaded the van and the driver brought us to a food stall near Kota Tinggi to have our dinner.

1930 hrs: We're back at Marsiling MRT to say goodbye to a wonderful escapade and best 'kakeez' in my outdoor world. It's not the destination that satisfies me but the journey done with the people that surrounds me. Thank you guys......

White Water Rafting

What a week of fun & excitement! It's simply exhilarating, awesome, keeps your adrenaline pumping, definitely an experience that you will never forget. And I'm talking about the White Water Rafting at Padas River (Grade IV) over at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. I believe that the whole group enjoyed the program (Thank You guys/gals for being a good sport) and I'm pretty sure that they want to go again, me included. There has been new requests for a return trip there. The good news is, YES, I'll organize another trip, another adventure. The not so good news is, it will not be that soon. The road trip. About 150 Km from Kota Kinabalu to the town of Tenom. Approximately 2.5-3 hrs of drive. Up to the Crocker Range. Nice views throughout the journey...

We also experience a phenomenal along a particular stretch of road here at Crocker Range when our Vans move backwards at a down slope while its gear is at neutral. As if we are being pulled from behind. Gravity forces??

This is the highest road along Crocker Range. I managed to clock the altitude: about 1350m above sea level. The roads are clouded, as you can see from the pictures below.

We are supposed to take a train from Tenom to Pangi (the starting point of water rafting), but the train breakdown, and as such we have to walk.... 10 km in all.... phew!!

For once we thought this maintenance train was our saviour. Dream on....

Look at the current.. this is just a glimpse of it. At this point of time, I wonder when can I get wet??

The 5 km mark. Our spirits is still on the high although we are walking under the scorching heat. Managed to put on those lovely smiles and thumbs up for photo taking.

Our saviour at last. The basic way of transportation for the villagers when the train breakdown. I am one of the lucky ones that got the chance to take this ride. A total 11 lucky ones.

But our relieve was short lived. It got some technical problems along the way. So we got to continue walking. But I'm glad I can experience this ride.

Pangi Train Station. The ending point of our 10 km walk. The starting point for our water rafting. A cool 18 km of rafting adventures. Unfortunately, our waterproof cameras had some problems, so we can't capture the excitement faces, the 'cool' faces, the obstacles we have to go thru, all the shouting & laughter, the high fives, and much more. That was the only setback. But I'm sure that the wonderful experiences are still alive in our memories.... That is what matters most....

My sincere thanks to all those who have participated in this program. Its been a privileged to have you in the team. Adventure trips such as this will always be pleasant and remembered especially when we can enjoy and have fun together as one successful team. Great teamwork!

How time flies… we are in the last few days towards the end of year 2010 and I must say that it has been a wonderful and fun-filled adventure throughout the year. Our event calendar for this year was fully packed with adventure & outdoor programs and now, we’re already planning for next year. Over the past 2 or 3 years, we have received tremendous support from our members joining us for our trips and the request has doubled ever since. We will explore new places, new adventure, and we take our members feedback seriously. After all, Outdoor Kakeez is all about a band of brothers. Whatever we do and whatever we planned for, members of Outdoor Kakeez will be our main priority, as always.

As of now, we have already lined up some exciting upcoming events for the year 2011. You can view it in our ‘Kakeez Upcoming Events’ menu on the left of the screen. Planning ahead is very important to us so that we can make the necessary arrangements in advance. It is understandable that the members may not join us for ALL of the planned trips. Members may have their own personal & family commitments. We are fully supportive and understands it well and as brothers, it is only right that we do so. That’s why we decided to publish our upcoming events in advance so as to allow our members to plan as well. The planned trips we have in mind are all the way till 3^rd quarter 2011. In which by then, I’ve to slow down a bit (I’m not sure if I can do this) and concentrate on my new found love and interest. U will know when the time comes……

We have completed and launched Outdoor Kakeez @ Mt Ophir blog page successfully after much effort & time being put in. This page will be up there for a long time and it will be a part of Outdoor Kakeez lifestory and our history in the making. My special thanks to the members that help out and spending time in creating this wonderful page of ours together. No matter how big or small your contributions are, it’s the effort that counts. My special thanks also to all members & friends who have given me positive reviews and the thumbs up ever since this blog is published. Your support and encouragements motivates me well and it will only spur me on to greater heights. Thanks for the appreciations..

I’m done for now. This will be the closing blog post for the year 2010. I hope and pray that 2011 will be another memorable year for all of us and may we live in peace & harmony. Pre-Warm Up cum Discussion

It was on a Saturday, the Kakeez meet up at the usual spot at the foot of the Bt Timah hill. The response was good, there are twelve of us altogether. This is our first get-together session after the last trip. The main purpose of this meet up was to have a light training up the hill and most importantly, to discuss on our future trip which will take place next year, God Willing. We spent about an hour there sweating ourselves out. A good workout indeed!

It was fun to be there with a bunch of good frenz. After which, Zooommm ....... off to Al-Azhar for our teh tarik session .....

Perfect 10.10.10. That's all we could say or described today's MotoGP at Sepang. Starting at 4th position, Rossi surprisingly dropped to 11th position as the race begins to kick off. But as the race got warmed up, 'The Doctor' swifts his way up to 3rd position just behind Andrea Dovizioso while his teammate, Lorenzo, looks promising being the race leader. But not long after, Rossi, throttled all the way passed Andrea and Lorenzo to win the race in style. Congratulations to Lorenzo, though he earns 3rd placing in Sepang 2010, he has won the championship title for this year. This year's 2010 sepang motoGP was simply exhilarating and happening to watch our idol won the race for Yamaha team. This would be a perfect parting gift from Rossi to the Yamaha team as he will move on to join Ducati next season. We are sure that 'The Doctor' will treat his 'Ducati Girl' to be the new perfect 10. Till next year!

KK leisure trip...

Just came back from KotaKinabalu (KK) for a short weekend getaway with the families. 11 of us to be exact. I've always wanted to bring my in-laws family over to KK and show them how wonderful the place is. I want to make them feel why I've always loved to go to KK again and again. I think my 2 brothers aka buddies, also known as my Visa & my Passport can understand what i mean and how i feel. just like they did. peace bros.....

if anyone were to invite me for a trip to KK again this year, it's definitely difficult to turn down the offer. why? why? why? .... why not? if u offer me to go to a place such as KK, where u can totally forget about your work, have a relaxing lifestyle and enjoying drinks & dinner with a sunset view, dive into a clear blue sea and swim or snorkel with the fishes around you.... wow! and that's just half of the fun. there's so much more that u can do that u don't even realize that your mobile has been ringing. how about that for a change?

time flies fast nowadays... we are soo busy with our work, schedules & deadlines everywhere, fast paced life in SG, i wonder if this is going to end. not here in SG though, unfortunately. i've been working almost 12 hrs daily, for a 'so called' office hr and i'm not surprised if it gets more. at least with this weekend getaways, it can helps me to feel afresh, alive and re-charged. psychologically, it helps my mind to feel relax and boost up my brain power. this is soo important in my line of field as i'm using lots of mind work, less physical work.

so u see... how important it is to have such trips. whether it's with the families or friends. enjoy the moment & enjoy your life (the 'halal' way) while u still can...

now i'm thinking of another adventure, another weekend getaways.....
