In 1608, Lippershey laid claim to a device that could magnify objects three times. His telescope had a concave eyepiece aligned with a convex objective lens.

Primary mirror (for reflecting telescopes), which carries the same role as the primary lens in a refracting telescopes. Eyepiece, which magnifies the image. Mounting, which supports the tube, enabling it to be rotated.

Types of Telescope. There are three main types of telescope. These are refracting telescopes, Newtonian telescopes and Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes.

The Arecibo radio telescope still represents the largest single-aperture telescope ever constructed, with its spherical reflector consisting of 40,000 aluminum panels each 3 feet by 6 feet.

A good telescope can cost anywhere from $200 to $8000 US dollars. Depending on if you are just starting out or if you are looking for a professional telescope, prices will differ. The characteristics of a good telescope will be defined by the intended use and the needs of a particular user.Jan 7, 2021

Seismology

Seismology

is the scientific study of earthquakes and the propagation of elastic waves through the Earth or through other planet-like bodies.

Seismologists also apply what they learn from studying the Earth's structure and other geological events, such as tsunamis, for commercial and other purposes, such as detecting nuclear explosions.

There are three basic types of seismic waves – P-waves, S-waves and surface waves. It consists of a spherical vessel with a long downward-pointing neck. The liquid to be distilled is placed in the vessel and heated.

Retorts sterilize food after it is sealed in a container by steam or other heating methods. Typically, the sterilization temperatures vary from 230°F/110°C to 275°F/135°C. ... Newer agitation retort processes have reduced cook times, resulting in energy savings and less degradation of the food quality.

The steam-air retort uses a mixture of steam and air, which is added to create an over-pressure in the retort. It is the foundation of all quantum physics including quantum chemistry, quantum field theory, quantum technology, and quantum information science.

science dealing with the behaviour of matter and light on the atomic and subatomic scale. It attempts to describe and account for the properties of molecules and atoms and their constituents—electrons, protons, neutrons, and other more esoteric particles such as quarks and gluons.

counter-intuitive phenomenon predicted by quantum mechanics is quantum tunnelling: a particle that goes up against a potential barrier can cross it, even if its kinetic energy is smaller than the maximum of the potential.[7] In classical mechanics this particle would be trapped. Quantum tunnelling has several important consequences, enabling radioactive decay, nuclear fusion in stars, and applications such as scanning tunnelling microscopy and the tunnel diode.

One consequence of the basic quantum formalism is the uncertainty principle. In its most familiar form, this states that no preparation of a quantum particle can imply simultaneously precise predictions both for a measurement of its position and for a measurement of its momentum.

Both position and momentum are observables, meaning that they are represented by Hermitian operators.

When two different quantum systems are considered together, the Hilbert space of the combined system is the tensor product of the Hilbert spaces of the two components.

There are many mathematically equivalent formulations of quantum mechanics. One of the oldest and most common is the "transformation theory" proposed by Paul Dirac, which unifies and generalizes the two earliest formulations of quantum mechanics – matrix mechanics (invented by Werner Heisenberg) and wave mechanics (invented by Erwin Schrödinger).[28] An alternative formulation of quantum mechanics is Feynman's path integral formulation, in which a quantum-mechanical amplitude is considered as a sum over all possible classical and non-classical paths between the initial and final states. This is the quantum-mechanical counterpart of the action principle in classical mechanics.

Noether's theorem or Noether's first theorem states that every differentiable symmetry of the action of a physical system has a corresponding conservation law.

Pipette

Pipette

is a laboratory tool commonly used in chemistry, biology and medicine to transport a measured volume of liquid, often as a media dispenser.

works by creating a vacuum above the liquid-holding chamber and selectively releasing this vacuum to draw up and dispense liquid. Physics is one of the most fundamental scientific disciplines, and its main goal is to understand how the universe behaves.

Branches

Mechanics. Galileo has been called the "father of observational astronomy", the "father of modern physics", the "father of the scientific method", and the "father of modern science".

the first physicist. Isaac Newton is popularly remembered as the man who saw an apple fall from a tree, and was inspired to invent the theory of gravity. If you have grappled with elementary physics then you know that he invented calculus and the three laws of motion upon which all of mechanics is based.

The Corpus Aristotelicum is the collection of Aristotle's works that have survived from antiquity through medieval manuscript transmission. These texts, as opposed to Aristotle's works that were lost or intentionally destroyed, are technical philosophical treatises from within Aristotle's school. Reference to them is made according to the organization of Immanuel Bekker's nineteenth-century edition, which in turn is based on ancient classifications of these works.

The extant works of Aristotle are broken down according to the five categories in the Corpus Aristotelicum. Not all of these works are considered genuine, but differ with respect to their connection to Aristotle, his associates and his views. Some are regarded by most scholars as products of Aristotle's "school" and compiled under his direction or supervision. (The Constitution of the Athenians, the only major modern addition to the Corpus Aristotelicum, has also been so regarded.) Other works, such as On Colors, may have been products of Aristotle's successors at the Lyceum, e.g., Theophrastus and Strato of Lampsacus. Still others acquired Aristotle's name through similarities in doctrine or content, such as the De Plantis, possibly by Nicolaus of Damascus. A final category, omitted here, includes medieval palmistries, astrological and magical texts whose connection to Aristotle is purely fanciful and self-promotional.

Physical_science

Physical_science

is a branch of natural science that studies non-living systems, in contrast to life science.

Astronomy & Astrophysics

Chemistry

Crystallography

Earth Sciences

Mathematics & Statistics

Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences

Nanotechnology

Physics

Polymer Science

Physical Sciences

Physical sciences are those academic disciplines that aim to uncover the underlying laws of nature - often written in the language of mathematics. The container is named after its inventor, German bacteriologist Julius Richard Petri. It is the most common type of culture plate.

Place the Petri dishes in a warm, dark place.

If necessary, you can place the Petri dishes in a cooler location, but the bacteria will grow a lot more slowly. Leave the bacteria to develop for 4-6 days, as this will give the cultures enough time to grow.

Most bacteria collected in your environment will not be harmful. However, once they multiply into millions of colonies in a Petri dish they become more of a hazard. Be sure to protect open cuts with rubber gloves and never ingest or breathe in growing bacteria.

Procedure for making Petri dishes.

Measure the recommended amount of agar and distilled water in to a clean, sterile flask or beaker.

Using heat resistant hand protection, hold the beaker/flask over a flame and stir the mixture gently using a sterile stir rod while heating.

Continue boiling the mixture for about one minute, and then remove from heat.

Pour about 12 ml into each Petri dish. If too little agar is poured, there may not be enough to cover the dish or the agar plate will dry up easily. If too much is poured, the cover dish will come in contact with the nutrient agar, leaving no room for microbial growth. The plates are rendered useless either way.

Particle

Particle

a particle is a small localized object to which can be ascribed several physical or chemical properties such as volume, density or mass.

Atoms consist of a nucleus made of protons and neutrons orbited by electrons. ... It includes the study of fossils to classify organisms and study interactions with each other and their environments.

Paleontology is a science located between biology and geology. It is different from archaeology because it does not study the bones of modern humans. Paleontology uses a wide variety of tools from many different sciences, including biochemistry, engineering, and mathematics.

It's a tough discipline to work in, there aren't a lot of jobs available and there are still societal pressures that discourage many people from pursuing this science. But if you truly got the love you can make it as a career, or as a well-loved hobby if that's your preference.

Bones, shells, feathers, and leaves can all become fossils. Fossils can be very large or very small.

Geoscientists, including paleontologists, had an average annual salary of $106,390

Getting into a paleontology career requires a bachelor's, but it's tricky because there are no schools that offer undergraduate degrees in paleontology. The PhD requires more graduate level coursework and another thesis research project, along with oral and written examinations.

The three main types of ornithology study are collection, field-based research, and laboratory-based research.

From ancient times on, owls have been linked with death, evil, and other superstitions. Many cultures saw owls as a sign of impending death. For example, an owl was said to have predicted the death of Julius Caesar. They've also been associated with witches and other so-called evil beings.

The median annual wage for these professions was $57,710 in May 2012. Those in the federal government made $72,700, while ornithologists teaching at colleges, universities, and professional schools earned $55,610. Those in state government made an average of $51,780.

tools In the field – binoculars, telescopes, nets or traps, bands, measuring and weighing equipment, notebooks, stakes, markers, surveying equipment, geographical positioning system instruments.

Organism

Organism

is any individual entity that embodies the properties of life. So for every action force there is always a reaction force.

Newton's second law, which states that the force F acting on a body is equal to the mass m of the body multiplied by the acceleration a of its centre of mass, F = ma, is the basic equation of motion in classical mechanics.

there are four basic types of motion. These four are rotary, oscillating, linear and reciprocating.

Movement is a vital nutrient to your body, just as much as food, water or oxygen. It feeds the brain, producing essential nutrient stimulation (called proprioception).

Motion exist because there is an unbalance force acting on an object. By applying exact amount of force and the direction of the force you are exerting, it can can control motion. The way we move our body, hands, head, feet, all of these are controlled motion.

Molecule

Molecule

is an electrically neutral group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds. Molecules are distinguished from ions by their lack of electrical charge.

The difference between the number of electrons and protons in an atom determines how strong the charge is, and what that atom can bond with. Atoms with a positive charge will be attracted to negatively charged atoms to form a molecule. This bonding between atoms is the key to how molecules interact with each other.

Oxygen is a non-metal element and is found naturally as a molecule. Each molecule is made up of two oxygen atoms that are strongly joined together.

In 1995 biologists smashed records by cloning the DNA for the largest protein molecule known. The aptly named titin weighs in at a molecular weight of 3 million and consists of a continuous chain of 27,000 amino acids, making it 20 to 50 times larger than the average-size protein.

In summary, for a typical human of 70 kg, there are almost 7*1027 atoms (that's a 7 followed by 27 zeros!) Another way of saying this is "seven billion billion billion." Of this, almost 2/3 is hydrogen, 1/4 is oxygen, and about 1/10 is carbon. These three atoms add up to 99% of the total

A diamond is one giant molecule of carbon atoms. Diamonds are colourless and transparent .

Since an atom has a finite number of protons and neutrons, it will generally emit particles until it gets to a point where its half-life is so long, it is effectively stable.

It undergoes something known as “alpha decay,” and it's half-life is over a billion times longer than the current estimated age of the universe.

Carbon Copy

Every day, our bodies take in new atoms from the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the liquids we drink. These atoms are incorporated into our cells and fuel the chemical processes that keep us alive. But our cells are constantly being regenerated.

Mineralogy

Mineralogy

is a subject of geology specializing in the scientific study of the chemistry, crystal structure, and physical (including optical) properties of minerals and mineralized artifacts.

Silicates, oxides, sulfates, sulfides, carbonates, native elements, and halides are all major mineral groups.

Becoming a mineralogist requires at a minimum a college degree and often postgraduate work.
