This project will create just under 1400 jobs in the 18 months slated to finish in.

First off, the critics need to look at what they're bashing - Microsoft is getting free money that I'm almost positive it did not ask for. Since our government makes decisions based on the benefit of our country you'd think that, wouldn't you?

In the mean time U.S. troops are getting shot at and blown up, not getting paid nearly what they're deserved, living there with a virtual target painted on their backs, and we're all paying $3.05/gallon of gas.

Chinese Toys vs. Rational Thinking

At this rate, when I have kids they'll be better off playing with scissors and matches.

Here's another group of 4,200,000 toys recalled in today's story at CNN because they contain a "date rape" drug.

I'm not sure if I'm shooting from the hip on this one but how about we re-open the factories all over the U.S. and give some folks in the manufacturing business a job. Starting at $20,950, the Toyota Prius is hot on gas savings but high on price. If you're looking at buying one and expect to finance it, you'd look at a payment of maybe $350-$400 assuming you have a small down payment. Plus on top of that you need to buy $3.00/gallon gas.

If you buy a small non-hybrid vehicle like the Corolla with great gas mileage plus a lower price (starting at $14,405) and start feeding it gas I'm thinking you'll see an immediate return on investment with a lower monthly payment and less gas consumption.

This is by no means a scientific analysis of hybrid vs. small car but simply a view of the surface.

Rational Thoughts for someone not rational

This guy shoots a police officer and runs out of the Dunkin Donuts with the officer's gun. Is this good or bad? They're saying they only monitor incoming and outgoing calls to suspected terrorists in other countries. On one hand you can say 'hey, these are serious personal privacy rights they are trampling without even getting a court order. No American's rights should be ignored and should be protected.'

On the other hand if you've got nothing to hide, you may say 'let them watch me, I'm not hiding anything since I'm doing no wrong' which would openly let them investigate. If they opened the flood gates on spying on everyone, would it be a good thing in a way since they could find the culprits who plan to harm the U.S. and quickly catch them? If you've got nothing to hide, who cares if they listen. If you don't know they're listening and you live in the illusion of privacy, then who cares, right?

I'm not sure which argument is stronger. If they could spy based on credible intelligence and prevent another big terrorist attack here or elsewhere, I think that would be cool.

Where have all the solar cells gone?

Ok, so here we are with energy prices soaring and no one's using solar energy to supplement their electricity from the power co. What's up with that. We should be trying to create as much of our own electricity as we can without the help of the power co. I know the batteries are expensive but the more people who start buying them, the prices will come down and become very affordable for everyone.

All this unused surface area on top of our homes is such a waste of potential for collecting FREE energy. If everyone used these solar panels on their homes' rooftops they would save a ton of money in electric bills every year. When properly installed and integrated with your existing electrical system, these will collect energy for your use and will reduce your power co. reliance. If you collect more energy than you use, it is a federal law that the electric company compensate you for the surplus of energy.

If you take it a few steps further and incorporate other ideas into your home production of electricity you could really save on power costs. Imagine this: every time you open and close any door in your home, it rubs a roller on the floor producing a small electrical current that is stored in your home electric batteries. Every time you run water, the water that goes down the drain spins a little turbine that also produces electricity for your home. More to come...

Welcome to the rational thoughts blog

Come here to read about ideas that need to said.
