Meet KOOB +, which represents a modular computer system featuring a slim, lightweight and portable core module with a display, along with basic performance anddetachable control modules.

All of the modules may have different functions, based on the needs of the user. Another part of the system is wire that you plug into the core component and use different replaceable plugs for the other end of the wire. Some of the attachable plugs include power supply plug, external performance plug and plug that helps you link to any computer through USB or wireless connection. You can also save computer interface preferences and then use native control modules on any other computer. This means that you will be able see your screen the same way on several different computers.

The Cybertecture Egg by the firm James Law Cybertecture is built around the concept of creating architecture using the intangible materials of technology, multimedia, intelligence and interactivity. The Egg derives its shape from the Earth, with a desire to serve as a sustainable nucleus for the surrounding Bandra Kurla Complex.

Its unique form allows for large, column-free floors, and reduces approximately 15% of the construction material that is used in a typical rectangular structure. The Cybertecture Egg is embedded with solar panels and topped with sky gardens, harvests rainwater, treats its own sewage, cools its water using an underground reservoir, and has a façade glazed according to its orientation to the sun. All of that is topped off with an intelligent building management system that allows less energy to be utilized in spaces that are not immediately occupied.

The structure would comprise of one underwater and one above-water disc, connected by three solid legs that are fixed to the sea bed, and a daylight filled vertical shaft containing a lift and stairway.

Guests are offered the dual opportunity of sleeping deep in the ocean, and bathing in the warm climate on the upper deck. Twenty-one hotel rooms are submersed in the center of a vibrant coral reef with enchanting views of sea life, illuminated with special lighting systems, and offer the use of miniature underwater vehicles equipped with macro photography, operated from your suite, to provide a closer look at the tiniest of creatures. A dive center allows guests to get up close in person, via an underwater airlock and decompression chamber that leads divers directly into the depths of the ocean. An enormous swimming pool marks the centre of the futuristic sky disc, and adjacent satellites, accessed via glass-walled passageways that tunnel through the diving training pool, hold a restaurant, spa and special recreation area. More seawater swimming pools reside on the rooftop along with an exotic garden, whilst an indoor multifunctional lobby harbors screens that monitor the surrounding aqueous zone, including a peek at diving activities in real time.

The Living Mountain is a city-like skyscraper for one of the Earth’s harshest environments: the desert. Fertile land is gradually being transformed into deserts due to global warming. This project is located in one of those regions, the desert of Taklamakan, in the northwestern region of China.

This high-rise conglomerate, in conjunction with man-made lakes, could gradually transform the desert into a habitable environment. The Living Mountain would extract water from the regions substrate and through its smart use, treatment, circulation, and controlled evaporation, could create a microclimate inside the structure. The housing areas are envisioned as “living pods” of 2,000 square-feet with easy access to all the facilities. Rainwater is collected and circulated on top of the super-structure and freely cascades to the atrium while filtering the air and promoting the growth of indoor vegetation. Vertical communication is achieved by elevator shafts placed between clusters of ‘living pods.’ Communication with the outside world is secured via a highway at ground level; a cable car system, that will eventually link multiple ‘living mountains’, a helipad and a runway. Local materials will be used throughout the construction. Due to the shifting sands, the foundation will be on reinforced concrete piles. The rest of the superstructure will be made of steel and reinforced concrete. The “pods” will be locally prefabricated of light translucent material.

Waterworld is a hotel built in a natural element: a spectacular career filled with water from Songjiang(China).The uniqueness of this hotel of 400 rooms will increase the number of tourists. Status: Concept.

The unique design of the hotel called Waterworld, to be built in the Chinese city of Songjiang, a group of architects engaged in its design, won the first prize at last year's international design competition. There is no doubt that whoever gets to Waterworld, seems to be like in a fairy tale. Underwater public areas, guest rooms, cafes and restaurants, as well as a huge luxury pool-lake will be situated on the territory of the hotel. And thanks to the unusual location of the hotel (right on the cliff), there will be proposed extreme sports such as rock climbing and bungee jumping. The largest underground hotel in the world will soon be in Shanghai. Songjiang beauty spot, the so-called new hotel is a unique engineering project which has 21 floors. The hotel goes down the steep wall of a pit straight to the artificial lake, which is located beneath the floor of the hotel fitness center. The roof of the hotel is a garden with a total area of 3000 square meters. The architects placed the hotel complex in a quarry filled with water. At 100 meters depth of the career will be 400 rooms, bars, restaurants, sports complex. For thrill-seekers jumping with a rope in the center of extreme rest located on the roof of the hotel will be offered , so you can climb the steep walls of the pit. An underwater restaurant that is separated from the ten-deep water tank is located on the second level. The theme of water is widely used in the project of the hotel, visually and functionally: a lot of bodies of water, waterfalls. All the demands of the modern "ecological architecture" of the park located on the roof, up to the geothermal energy extraction were taken into account in the design of the hotel.

Future Concept Tablet. Samsung has posted a video demonstrating a rather mind-blowing new concept tablet featuring a fully flexible AMOLED display of the future. You can see through it, bend it, fold it and roll it up — and of course, you can use it to read books, browse the web, take pictures and watch videos.
Granted, the video above is replete with special effects to show off as-yet unavailable-to-consumers technology. However, we've seen Samsung making big investments in flexible screens, and the video above lines up with demos we saw earlier this year: At the beginning of 2011, Samsung acquired Liquivista, a company specializing in the kind of clear, uber-bendy displays you're seeing above. The smaller firm used techniques called electrowetting to create displays that are bright, low-power, flexible and transparent.

So when can you start putting these futuristic gadgets on your wish list?
Sadly, that's not a question we can answer at the moment, but we'd say you'll be seeing flexi-screens long before jetpacks take off. In fact, flexible screen technology was on Samsung's list of mobile trends to watch back in March, when Yongsuk Choi, director of Samsung Mobile Display, gave an overview of the company's future mobile device plans. Still, at that time, Choi stated that most of the flexible-display technology his company was working on was still in very early stages. In October, Samsung passed Apple as the top smartphone manufacturer. The company shipped 27.8 million smartphones in Q3 2011. Altogether, Samsung's current share of the smartphone market is 23.8 percent, largely due to its successes on the Android platform.

Amazon.com is charting a new course for one of its proposed downtown Seattle office buildings, unveiling new drawings this week which show a massive spherical greenhouse-like structure capable of housing multiple forms of plant life as well as mature trees. And, yes, of course, throngs of Amazon workers will be permitted too. The new proposal, which will be discussed at a Design Review Boardmeeting tonight at Seattle City Hall, is a radical departure from the company’s previous design for a rectangular structure on the so-called “Rufus 2.0″ block. The new biosphere building would be built in conjunction with Amazon.com’s adjoining skyscraper project. The goal of the new spherical space is to create an environment where employees can “work and socialize in a more natural, park-like setting,” according to documents released in front of tonight’s meeting. “The generative idea is that a plant-rich environment has many positive qualities that are not often found in a typical office setting,” according to the design documents. “While the form of the building will be visually reminiscent of a greenhouse or conservatory, plant material will be selected for its ability to co-exist in a microclimate that also suits people,” the documents continue. “To encourage growth and maintain the health of the plants, the building’s interior will include high bay spaces on five floors totaling approximately 65,000 SF and capable of accommodating mature trees.”

Apple

Late last year Apple purchased a 98-acre campus from Hewlett Packard, in Cupertino. On Tuesday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs, explained Apple’s plans to the Cupertino City Council. Here’s what the new 4-story building holding 12,000 employees will look like, when it’s completed in 2015.
As Steve describes it:

“It’s a pretty amazing building. It’s a little like a spaceship landed. It’s got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle… It’s a circle. It’s curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It’s all curved. We’ve used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. And, we want to make the glass specifically for this building here. We can make it curve all the way around the building… It’s pretty cool.”

Architect Frank Gehry is designing the new campus for social media giant Facebook, which claims it will be the largest open-plan office in the world. The building will accommodate 2800 engineers underneath a green roof on the edge of San Francisco Bay and construction could begin early next year. “I’m excited to work with Frank Gehry to design our new campus,” Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg posted on his own Facebook timeline. “The idea is to make the perfect engineering space: one giant room that fits thousands of people, all close enough to collaborate together. It will be the largest open floor plan in the world, but it will also have plenty of private, quiet spaces as well.” “The roof of the building will be a park that blends into the community with a long walking trail, a field and lots of places to sit. From the outside it will appear as if you’re looking at a hill in nature.”

Google occupies some of the most famous offices in the world—think cafés everywhere you look, treadmills with laptops attached to them, pool tables and bowling alleys, green buildings, and vegetable gardens—but not one of the places in which the company’s 35,000+ employees work has been built by the company. The core of the “Googleplex,” as the headquarters in Mountain View, California, is generally known, consists of a suburban office park once occupied by Silicon Graphics that Google remodeled to suit its needs; in New York, Google occupies (and owns) the enormous former Port Authority headquarters in Chelsea. The company has been similarly opportunistic around the world, taking over existing real estate and, well, Google-izing it. “We’ve been the world’s best hermit crabs: we’ve found other people’s shells, and we’ve improved them,” David Radcliffe, a civil engineer who oversees the company’s real estate, said to me. Under Radcliffe, the company’s home base in Mountain View has expanded to roughly 65 buildings. For the last year or two, Google has been toying with taking the plunge and building something from scratch. In 2011 it went so far as to hire the German architect Christophe Ingenhoven to design a brand new, super-green structure on a site next to the Googleplex, but that was a false start: the company abandoned the project a year later, when it decided to build in another part of Mountain View, closer to San Francisco Bay, and went looking for another architect. Now Google has partnered with the Seattle-based firm NBBJ, a somewhat more conventional choice. And the renderings of the new project, which Google has made available to Vanity Fair, show something that looks, at first glance, like an updated version of one of the many suburban office parks that Google has made a practice of taking over and re-doing for its own needs. The more you look at the complex, however, the more intriguing it is. The new campus, which the company is calling Bay View, consists of nine roughly similar structures, most of which will be four stories high, and all of which are shaped like rectangles that have been bent in the middle. The bent rectangles are arranged to form large and small courtyards, and several of the buildings have green roofs. All of the structures are connected by bridges, one of which will bring people directly to one of the green roofs that has been done up with an outdoor café and gathering space. And cars, the bane of almost every suburban office complex, including the Googleplex, are hidden away. What is really striking about this project, however, isn’t what the architecture will look like, about which renderings can show only so much anyway. It’s the way in which Google decided what it wanted and how it conveyed this to its architects. Google is, as just about everyone in the world now knows, the most voracious accumulator of data on the planet. When it decided to build a building, it did what it did best, which was to gather data. Google studied, and tried to quantify, everything about how its employees work, about what kind of spaces they wanted, about how much it mattered for certain groups to be near certain other groups, and so forth. A lot of this seems like a statement of the obvious, but then again, lots of data is. And architecture, which is so often form-driven, doesn’t necessarily suffer from a bit more attention to factors other than shapes. “We started not with an architectural vision but with a vision of the work experience,” Radcliffe said. “And so we designed this from the inside out.”

Underwater Tunnel To Croatia’s Islands?

Underwater tunnels may soon be connecting Croatian islands in the Zadar archipelago after representatives from the Croatian-German Society and Civil Engineer Bozenko Jelic presented its project to the public, reports HRT.
Jelic proposes to connect the central Dalmatian city of Zadar with the island of Ugljan via a 4.9 kilometer underwater tunnel. Future plans are also to connect Zadar with the nearby islands of Iz, Dugi Otok, Molat, Ist, Sestrunj and Rivanj. Zadar’s Mayor Stipe Zrilic says that the project is of special interest for the islands and for all of Croatia and says that they are looking into the how the project fits into the counties regional plan. The project could also be a candidate for EU funding.

Designer Jason Chen has created a concept in Cinema 4D. Phone seems to be more similar to iPhone. The ingenious gadget is a conceptual cell phone and tablet computer clubbed in one. The attention-grabbing concept has two elements: dynamic and microphone. So, either design a mini cell phone sized 22mm X 44mm X 6mm or a tabletwith a maximum size of 1.5m X 2m.
The tablet is capable of responding to wireless communications like Wi-Fi. Mobikom’s key elements have programmed buttons while others have been devoid of them. Each element has its own power supply and computing processor. A user can feed individual parts with a SIM card and store all necessary details in the phone memory. There are apertures on the lateral surfaces in the middle of the fixing tapes, which can be used to craft new forms. Wow! Robotic Snake Removes Toxic Metals From Water

A robot concept that can remove toxic metals from water has been recently developed by a group of designers from the Fortune Institute of Technology. The robotic snake has bacteria (Shewanella oneidensis) inside that disintegrate harmful heavy metals polluting water.
Moreover these bacteria also generate electricity to power the robot snake, thus allowing it to swim around. Users can easily locate the robot due to the built-in GPS. The robotic snake lights up with red LEDs when it is working and with green LEDs when it has finished cleaning. Designers hope that the heavy metal pollution cleaning system will be launched in 2020.
