Y'know, the last time I could stomach a QTE was Shenmue. After that, I never wanted to see another QTE again. The absolute bottom-of-the-barrel as far as QTEs are concerned? INDIGO PROPHECY. Man, that game was decent but the overuse and flat-out abuse of QTEs really disappointed me.

I like cut-scenes, though, so maybe I'm just pissed that these games make me do stuff instead of being able to just watch the action and take it all in. Could you imagine being made to do QTEs in, say, Metal Gear Solid?

Yeah, it's the farm. Or, rather, Blood Harvest. That's what it's called, right? So that makes it Blood Harvest and No Mercy that are playable online, which means I still haven't tried Death Toll or Dead Air.

And I'm not against post-apocalyptic whatnot-- in fact, that's one of the things I was interested in and really looking forward to about Fallout 3. It's just that I want games to actually deliver when they try to offer and be about So Much More. Between the disappointments of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Fallout 3, my faith in these epic-scale, open-world, go-anywhere/do-anything games is really being shaken.

The more these worlds try to offer, the less is actually there.

I'm okay with a game inducing depression. A post-apocalyptic wasteland _should_ be depressing, y'know? But then, I'm a fan of such fiction (post-apocalyptic) anyway, so that was a huge plus for me. While I enjoyed Morrowind and Oblivion, normally I don't care for fantasy so much. In fact, magic and scifi really don't do much for me. If I have to have some fantastical event in my media, I'd rather it be a few items, rather than new systems. Say, a super power/ability, or a magic item than, than an entire branch of magic to have to learn my way through.

And that only two L4D plots are playable online is kinda sad. Obviously the city is, but what's the other? Please say the farm!

Bah, you're insane! I dig them so long as I expect them to a degree. I just started playing Prince of Persia and the first time a QTE happened in a fight I was confused as shit, but that game is so forgiving it nearly apologized for killing me, so I jumped right back into it and loved it.

I'll be honest-- I was pretty excited for Fallout 3 and I ended up not liking it. I don't know what it was, but between the boring combat, the one-color world, and the every-single-goddamn-person-hates-you atmosphere, I couldn't get into it. The game induces depression, and I found myself not wanting to put it back in the disc tray. Traded it in within a week.

Strange, but I've traded more games in within a week of purchase this year than any year before... Either I'm growing tired of most games or most games are growing tired. Ah well.

Left4Dead is cool, even online! Actually, I've never played it offline, which means there are still two scenarios I haven't tried yet. (Only 2 of the 4 "movies" are available to play online. How bunk is that?)

A) Chess is wonderful, I highly recommend it.

B) I'm probably stupid, but hey, that's never stopped me before. :D

Holy crap. You're either a genius or I'm completely stupid (probably a bit of both), because I understood none of that. Of course, it would probably help if I knew how to play chess...

The painful part is that you're probably a lot close to 'correct' than I am, with my 'EA Store' notion.

I wonder if there's some kind of threshold for when EA can officially be referred to as 'a developer that owns a publishing company'. Proof the publishing division of company has lost focus? You have to seek out other publishers to publisher your work.
