I would agree that they're not "wrong." And I agree wholeheartedly anyone has the right to resell purchased goods. That said, I just think it's incredibly two-faced of someone to slam gamers for supporting the trade-in system, while turning around and supporting the very stores that epitomize that very system, like GameStop, with exclusives and deals.

I wasn't attempting to begrudge stores at all, I just think this is an example of publishers being a bunch of raving jackasses.

Hey Jeff, by no means I am attempting to make right anything that is wrong. I would however point out that GameStop, and I guess Target now, are no different than a private person when selling the product that they have purchased from another person. I want to say that the game developers are simply greedy ass bastards and should learn to make a better damn game if they don't want the consumer to return them. And I personally applaud GameStop for making the service available as I know I have purchased used games more than once. I also know for a fact that most used games are purchased on a whim and generally of a game that did not do well, or was replaced with a sequel. (Thank you Madden.) All I'm saying is that if GameStop and Target are in the wrong on this, then so are all of the eBay, Amazon, garage, and yard sellers in the world, reselling their products.

I couldn't agree with you more. The first time I played Oblivion, I ignored the main quest for so long that I couldn't progress in it. (The enemies leveled up with me, but NPC helper characters did not. I had to restart it to do the main story.) I loved the open-ended freedom of that game, and I would have been happy with hundreds of mini-stories instead of the one big over-arching storyline. I think more games should be like that.

Y'know, the last time I could stomach a QTE was Shenmue. After that, I never wanted to see another QTE again. The absolute bottom-of-the-barrel as far as QTEs are concerned? INDIGO PROPHECY. Man, that game was decent but the overuse and flat-out abuse of QTEs really disappointed me.

I like cut-scenes, though, so maybe I'm just pissed that these games make me do stuff instead of being able to just watch the action and take it all in. Could you imagine being made to do QTEs in, say, Metal Gear Solid?

Yeah, it's the farm. Or, rather, Blood Harvest. That's what it's called, right? So that makes it Blood Harvest and No Mercy that are playable online, which means I still haven't tried Death Toll or Dead Air.

And I'm not against post-apocalyptic whatnot-- in fact, that's one of the things I was interested in and really looking forward to about Fallout 3. It's just that I want games to actually deliver when they try to offer and be about So Much More. Between the disappointments of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Fallout 3, my faith in these epic-scale, open-world, go-anywhere/do-anything games is really being shaken.

The more these worlds try to offer, the less is actually there.

I'm okay with a game inducing depression. A post-apocalyptic wasteland _should_ be depressing, y'know? But then, I'm a fan of such fiction (post-apocalyptic) anyway, so that was a huge plus for me. While I enjoyed Morrowind and Oblivion, normally I don't care for fantasy so much. In fact, magic and scifi really don't do much for me. If I have to have some fantastical event in my media, I'd rather it be a few items, rather than new systems. Say, a super power/ability, or a magic item than, than an entire branch of magic to have to learn my way through.

And that only two L4D plots are playable online is kinda sad. Obviously the city is, but what's the other? Please say the farm!

Bah, you're insane! I dig them so long as I expect them to a degree.
