My Subaru Levorg 1.6 GTS CVT review

Hello. It's been a long time to write
something again. It can be said that not only a lot of time, but also the variety of cars I have owned since my last review. The last time I had a 2013 Honda Civic HB 1.6 i-dtec Sport car, and on top of that, the 2009 Honda Accord 2.0 AT Executive, 2015 Subaru Levorg 1.6 CVT GTS, 2013 Subaru Outback 2.0 D CVT and finally the furry shop like the 2016 Honda Civic HB 1.6 i -dtec Sport (the lalest makeup version) I had a return to the vehicle. If I have time, I will deal with these in turn.

Pros:

+ High hardware

+ Successful CVT

+ Satisfactory performance

Cons:

- It's hard to get fuel under control.

- Sound system

- The sound of CVT at high revolutions suppresses the sound of the boxer engine

Exterior Design:

The vehicle is Subaru's first vehicle to be released with the design language that we can call the new design language. It is made for the intercoller called a scoop on the hood and has detail that is a signature for Subaru's turbo vehicles. At least for now. Because this part, which was previously found in all turbocharged (gasoline / diesel) models, including forester and outback, is now only available in wrx, sti and levorg vehicles. Although the location of the intercooler in vehicles in the SUV segment has not changed, the cooling feature of this structure has been transferred to the intercoolera hidden under the hood.

The vehicle is completely similar to the WRX model from the front. In fact, the 2.0 model, which is not brought to the European market due to emission standards, already has the wrx engine. The only difference is the CVT gearbox.

When viewed from the side, it is more easily understood that the vehicle is a large vehicle. And in my personal opinion, the vehicle does not give its best pose when viewed from the side. When viewed from the rear, especially the double exhaust outlet, dark colored diffuser and spoiler reinforce the sporty appearance.

I can say that the 18 '' bicolour wheels fits well the vehicle. I'll talk about the tires later.

Frame-shaped daytime running lights are stylish but not very powerful. Likewise, the lensed LED headlights are okay. When you think of the yellow fog and the high beams on it, you say, well, come on. Fog lights may be yellow for their purpose, but if the high beams weren't yellow, one says.

We can say that it is between impreza andlegacy. It is already a vehicle that emerged by playing with the letters of the words legacy, wagon, touring, and as far as I have learned, it is a vehicle that is intended to replace the station wagon legacy model. The absence of the wagon version of the last Legacy model that did not come to our country confirms this.

Interior design:

The interior of the vehicle is in a completely new design language. The six straight sports steering wheels in a D-shape look stylish. In the interior, where there are much more soft plastic details than the old models, the blue seams that can be seen on the doors, steering wheel, chest and seats look pleasing.

Considering the old, which shows your average fuel consumption according to your general fuel consumption, from the turbo pressure of the vehicle, how much you load on the gas, the header information screen is very useful, which gives information such as bar graphs (there was not even instant fuel consumption in 2009 model Subaru's). It's a bit annoying having to reach the button right below the screen just to change the data on this screen.

It is also very useful to have a small but colorful screen right behind the steering wheel that shows your instant consumption, your average consumption and the status of your consumption relative to the general average (as in BMWs).

The armrest, which cannot be adjusted in height, does not pose much of a problem and has a very good storage volume.

The leather bellows gear knob is quite stylish. It is possible to reach the manual mode, which can also be controlled from behind the steering wheel, via the gear knob.

The driver's seat is powered but not with memory. The passenger seat is manual.

I would also like to point out that the seat leather is not very high quality and that many people I know have taken the procedure under guarantee.

Rear seat legroom is successful. Since it is a low and 4-wheel drive vehicle, the shaft tunnel is not very low. It can affect the comfort of the middle seater.

Since the luggage is a station vehicle, it is sufficient, but the floor can be called high. Since there was no spare tire, the tire repair kit and storage compartments were placed in the gained volume. Considering the rear shock absorber group and 4-wheel drive system of the vehicle, one should not expect much.

Engine and Performance:

1.6 liter DIT (Direct Injection Turbo) engine is used in the vehicle. The unit produces 170 PS of power and 250Nm of torque. Although the maximum power speed remains high as it is a gasoline engine, its constant maximum torque generation between 1500-4500 rpm provides ease in acceleration. Because of this convenience, although the vehicle has a CVT transmission, it acts as if it has a 6-speed torque converter. Gear shifting, as the British say, is actually torque hunting. You change gears to achieve the speed you need to reach the torque you need. Well, because the torque band is quite wide in the vehicle, the CVT gearbox does not have to constantly change the ratio to hunt that torque. Only I can say that the general characteristics of CVT can be observed in serious and calm driving. As I mentioned in the disadvantages of the vehicle, it is due to the fact that the CVT system in the vehicle is a chain system.

The S / i button on the steering wheel also allows you to drive in Sport and Intelligent driving modes. This button changes the throttle response, engine / transmission characteristics. Unfortunately, the S # option on 2.0 models and 3.0 outback / legacy models (after 2007) is not available.

When we add the acceleration of the vehicle, which performs 0-100 acceleration in 8.9 seconds, the effects of the automatic transmission and the 4-wheel drive system, I think it is sufficient. The video is my own shot.

Fuel consumption is sufficient to meet factory values. However, it is useful to remind you to drive calmly to achieve this in a turbo gasoline vehicle. My average was around 9 liters on the 20,000km I traveled with my vehicle. On the long road, I have seen 6 liters of gold. In the picture you can see the 5.2 average and the bar chart I am talking about.

Start / Stop system is successful. If you do not hit the brake hard, it does not come into play. For this, you do not need to hit the brake for the first time. Let's say you stopped and start / stop is not activated. After waiting for a while, pressing the brake harder activates the system.

Considering its low structure, common undercarriage with the wrx and the boxer / symmetrical 4-wheel drive system, the road holding and cornering performance are very successful. The only downside might be the Dunlop tires coming on in this regard. It is worth adding that after the make-up operation in 2017, Billstein shock absorbers started to accompany it.

The vehicle also has torque vectoring feature. Thus, the torque can be distributed to the wheels when necessary while driving. This should not be confused with mitsubishi evo vehicles. Evo tries to do what the vehicles do thanks to the differential, with the help of abs. But there is no point in encountering evo.

I believe that the 300 horsepower version, which was not brought to Europe and therefore our country due to Euro emission norms, is a real joke machine. However, since the CVT transmission is used again, I have some reservations.

Safety:

Until the version with eyesight (pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, anti-collision braking) that started to arrive in 2016, blind spot detection and high beam assistant are common to all vehicles.

Also with the 2017 facelift, the eyesight became standard, with the option to keep lane and reverse auto braking. In addition, another camera was added to the front and rear upper stop lights. While the front camera is useful in parking maneuvers, the other camera that shows the rear through the rearview mirror is useful in driving with limited rear vision (that camera is already separate when not in reverse gear).

The vehicle does not have a front or rear parking sensor. The service is also reluctant to install it later, because of the possibility of damaging the radar of the blind spot system.

Music system etc .:

The vehicle has a 6-speaker music system. And unfortunately it's not nice. Neither the speakers nor the main unit perform well. The multimedia unit, which does not offer Apple car play and android auto support, supports a system called Starlink. Since there is not much that is integrated with that system, you do not have many alternatives. This system allows your vehicle to connect to the internet via BT, but it has no advantage other than accessing some internet radios.

When the system is not great, listening to music via BT is not great either. It would be absurd to listen to music with BT in a vehicle that already has a good system. Of course, if there is support for new generation codecs, it is different.

There is AUX input (Thank god) and plenty of USB inputs. In this way, you do not have much work with lighter.

The keyless entry and operation system is nice. The key is stylish and the absence of any buttons on the door is pleasant. When you throw your hand at the door, the doors that open are locked again when you touch the door handle. You cannot forget the key in the vehicle because it warns you. And there is also a mode that you can encrypt via the tailgate's open button so that you can enter it when you do not have a key. Thus, it is possible to open the doors of the vehicle by entering that code one by one (7 digits if I'm not mistaken).

Although the rear view camera is sufficient, as I mentioned before, a parking sensor is rarely needed. In addition, it is a deficiency that the parking lines of the camera do not change according to the steering movements.

Oh and the auto hold system. There is another such feature besides the electronic park brake. But don't be confused with the hill start system. This system is a system that hangs the vehicle when you stop the vehicle on the slope until you hit the gas. but it was on my nerves that he was engaged in stop-and-go driving a few times on non-slopes.

Vialle Lpi Pics, Some Figures and Comparisons

Hi,
I've been using Vialle Lpi system appilied car for 3 months. I've collected all the fuel,- here is LPG, bills.
After the application, I reset the avarage fuel consumption data on my car. (And I have to remind that the avarage consumtion was 8,6 lt/100 km by using petrol before the Vialle Lpi system applied. So, I don't think that I've miss calculated the data)
Here is some figures:
Range: 5165 km
Total LPG consumption: 506.3 Lt
Avarage LPG consumption per 100 km: 9.8 Lt
Avarage Fuel consumption shown by the cars' system: 8.4 Lt/ 100 km
Calculation error between LPG and Petrol: 16.6%
Avarage range per fully loaded LPG tank ( 40 Lt): 408 km
Best avarage consumption for fully loaded LPG tank: 466 km
Worst avarage consumption for fully loaded LPG tank: 338 km
I searched the LPG prices in The UK (because the Turkeys' price might means nothing most of you). In 4th of June it's 60.9 p/lt. And the unleaded 95 octane petrol 122.9 p/ltSo here is the figures according to that price:
By using LPG:
Avarage LPG consumption cost per 100 km: 5.97 £
Avarage LPG consumption cost per km: 59.7 p
If I used Petrol:
Avarage Petrol consumption cost per 100 km: .10.32 £
Avarage petrol consumption cost per km: 103.2 p

So, the avarage cost is 42.1% less than petrol usage.

Last week I reached the best avarage consumption by 5.6 Lt/100 km, according to the car, for a single trip. If we multiply the figure by error, 5.6 Lt*1.166=6.53 Lt. It means 3.97 £/100 km and 39.7 p / km. I think it's amazing.

Vialle Lpi User Review

Hi,

Because of the latest petrol prices in my country and higher needs of use my car, I've finalized the searh for an alternative by having Vialle lpi system on my car.

The firm, Vialle, is a Netherland based alternative fuel company. Lpi (liquid prophane injection) system based on injecting lpg to cylider blocks.

It has some advantages againts sgi systems:

- No power and tourque loss. It is capable to produce more power and torque than petrol injetion. But, in order to prevent mechanical problems, it's detuned.

- There isn't evaporator part. Then, it swicth to lpg faster than sgi systems. Engine cooling water temparature isn't very important to system. And naturally, there is no need to cut the engines' cooling system pipes to connect evaporator.

- No backfire risk.

- No periodic maintanence (filter change etc.) or re-tune. System isn't effected from weather contudions (humudity, temperature etc.) or location.

- It is programmed seperately to every car and engine. So it fits your car perfectly. It's nearly plug and go system, it's not effected from the appliers' ability (because no need to be tuned by applier).

- It provides better economy than sgi systems. Let me explain. It doesn't provides better fuel economy than percetly applied and tune sgi systems. If the lackness of periodic maintenance and need to be re-tuned taken in the account, it becomoes more economical.

- It nearly never switch to petrol while driving because of the motor temparature. It helps to cool engine because the gas injected in luquid state. After the gas has been injected liguid state, the state chances to gas and loss it's temperature. Only if the engine operates near the red line revs. for a long time it can be switch petrol in order to help cooling down. The lpgs' octane is higher than petrol and when it burns , it reveals more heat.

- The cars' warranty covarege is continuing. (In Turkey and only for Mitsubishi cars)

And now, I'm trying to explain how the system works. It almost same with the convencional petrol engine. The liquid lpg is pumped to regulator unit and then the injectors trouhgh flexible pipes by a submerged pump placed in the lpg tank. The systems' own ecu calculated injetion times and rates by using the data comes from cars' ecu and some other sources and send the injection order to systems' own lpi injectors (not the petrol injector) placed on the vacuum manifold and send liquid lpg to cylinders through manifold by tiny tubes. Then the liquid gas that isn't injected, goes to lpg tank.

After all. It's a safe, reliable and economical (40% in Turkey) alternative.

New Mitsubishi ASX (RVR) Compact SUV

Mitsubishis' new compact crossover SUV has been came in sight. After the 2010 Genova outomabile fair the cars' specifications has became definite.
In Japaneese market, the car is currently available. It has only 1.8 Litre MIVEC petrol engine with CVT gearbox both 2WD and AWD versions in Japan.

But, on the contrary, in the EU market, it has two different engine version. All new 1.6 litre MIVEC petrol engine (117 Hp) with only 2WD 5 speed manuel transmission and also new 1.8 Litre MIVEC DID common-rail diesel engine (150 Hp, 300 Nm) with both 2WD and AWD and 6 speed manuel transmission only. The Diesel engine has varialbe valve timing and it's the worlds' first VVT appication in a passenger car. In order to latest news, there will be another lower power diesel engine available with 115 Hp. I think, it will be an 1.6 Litre engine.
The new diesel engine will be satisfied Euro 5 norms and has start-stop mechanism. That's why it's only Manuel transmission.
The car uses lancer platform which also used by Outlander. The AWD system is the same with Outlander and Delica 4x4 have.

Mitsubishi Triton Facelift

Mitsubishs' pickup truck Triton (a.k.a. L200) is finally facelifted. The engine and transmisson remains same (except instyle A.T. version) , but there are some minor changes has done its' apperiance. Like:

Exterior:
- Extended bed lenght (180 mm)

- New headlight style
- New projector headlights
- New fog lights

- Off-road image has strengthened with skid plate
- Instyle versions have 5 speed A.T. now.
- Oval shapes on the cup are smoother.
- New front grill- New wheel rims

Interior:
- New wide dashboard

- New info screen

- New leather covered steering wheel (same as Outlander, Lancer and Colt have)
- Music System ontrol buttons on the streering whell
- Cruise Control

- New seat fabrics

- New arm rest (two level)

- Automatic rain and headlight sensors (Instyle)

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Test Drive

We (me and some other lucky mitsubishi customers) were at Ataturk Olympic Park to test Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (White Shark). The test car was MR TC-SST (6 speed twin-clutch automatic transmission) version with stock 295 Hp 2.0 L turbo engine. Becuse of the events aim (to show the cars' limits) we didn't drive the car. We sat on the front passenger car while our rally champion driver Serkan Oztemir driving. After our test drives, some actual evo owners tried to show their cars' limit. But eventually, they showed importance of the driver or lack of their driving skills. Anyway I added some pics. and a shortened video.

New Mitsubishi Lancer Owner Review

Hi. I'd like mention about my second Mitsubishi car, New Lancer, today. First one was Colt. I'm plannig to write down something about Colt in following days.

Here is some of the car's specs.:

- 1499 cc Mivec gasoline engine (same the 1.5 version Colt has), 109 Hp, 147 Nm Torque

- 4 speed Invecs II Automatic Gearbox

- 9 airbags (driver and passenger front airbags+driver and passenger side airbags+front curtain airbags+rear curtain airbags+driver knee airbag)

- ESP+ASR

- Alloy wheels (added at local service)

- front and side airdam (added at local service)

- rear elegant spoiler (added at local service)

- front fog lamps (added at local service)

- Bluetooth handsfree telephone kit

- i-pod connection

- leather covered steering wheel

- Radio+CD/mp3 player auido system with 6 speaker

- window tint (applied at Ziebart)

I know it's engine (with automatic transmission) not very common. The engine suprisingly provide enough power. The spec. chart says max. speed is 178 km/h, but I hit 190 km/h easily. Altough it's 0-100 km/h acceleration time is disappointing, intermediate values are stifying. It's OK. But my first priority is not performance. My priorities are safety, fuel economy, confort, performance and look. Maybe the most powerful side of the is its' look. (I must confess, I adore its' look. ) Anyway, "the fuel economy". It is havier, has bigger engine and less efficent transmission system than my previous car colt. But it only consumes 1 litre more per 100 km. (Below 8,5 L/100km combined, it hits the factory value). My It's amazing. And sure , its' transmission system is more comfortable. No gaps between gears.

You may ask, isn't there anything to complain about? Of course there are:

- No cruise control (it is general complaint, not mine. I'm genarally used my car in urban)

- No manuel gear change option with automatic gearbox

- The stock tires (Dunlop 2050 SP Sports). I don't happy with their performance

- In car engine and road noise level isn't good. I like the mivec engines' sound at high revs. anyway. But, when you drive faster than 120 km/h you you can hear wind sound from windows.

When you think about my priorities all the complaints are comfort connected (except tires but it's avoidable. I can change my tires whenever I want). These complaints aren't exist Intense and Insytle packages. They have 1.8 L 143 hp mivec gasoline engine with 6 speed (with magnesium paddle shiters) CVT gearbox option or 2.0 L 140 Hp VW diesel engine with 6 speed manual gearbox. (1.8 L manuel and 2.0 diesel verisons aren't available in my country, Turkey)
