Most cats that don’t use kitty litter trays will develop the habit of doing their business in garden where they can cover their business up afterwards. However not all cats do this or sometimes they use a dirt area but the dirt is just too hard/rocky and they are not able to cover up afterwards. After a while this can become very annoying, frustrating and smelly – particularly when it’s not your cat that’s messing in your yard.

Now I know some people will say they have to do it somewhere, just put up with it, but it can be a problem after a while, particularly when it’s right where you walk or beneath the kitchen window.

This article outlines a few suggestions for how to stop cats leaving their business in your yard. Remember all cats are different and all situations are different, so what works for one household may not work for another. I suggest trying whichever method seems easiest for you and if that does not work, just keep working through the list until you find something that does.

If it’s your own cat, ensure it has access to a kitty litter tray that is cleared regularly, preferably daily. Oxyfresh deodorizer helps to eliminates the odor and deodorize the surrounding kitty litter area.

If you know someone who owns a cat, speak with them politely and ask if they can ensure their cat has access to a clean kitty litter tray.

Where possible, try planting shrubs or placing pot plants or some other item in the area where the cat is using as its toilet (eg. I have an area where I keep my rubbish bins. Every week, on the night the bins out, the neighbour’s cat leaves a ‘present’ there for me. I now keep some large pot plants in that area and when the bins are out awaiting collection, I spread the plants out to cover the area that would have been left as a bare dirt patch. It only takes an extra minute or so each week).

Fertilize the area with blood meal fertilizer, fresh manure (although this smell could be worse than the cat poop!) or a liquid fertilizer.

Fairly heavily sprinkle cinnamon, citrus peel or fresh coffee grounds on the area. You may need to repeat this process every couple of days and after rain.

Spray the area with some citrus essential oil – lemon or orange.

Spread a few garlic cloves around the area.

Spray the area with vinegar or red wine vinegar.

Place a few pine cones around the area.

If possible, consider covering the area with some mulch (eg. wood chips), gravel or rocks.

Use a commercial cat repellent available from many pet stores or vets (eg. Shake-Away Domestic Cat Repellent Urine Powder).

Depending on the area, you could also try placing some chicken wire there or pieces of aluminium foil. Hold the foil in place with a few rocks. This may not be ideal long term, but hopefully after a short time the cat will get the idea and find a more suitable place.

In some drought-ridden areas, the use of sprinklers is banned. However if this is an option for you, a motion sensor sprinkler works well.

You can also try keeping the area damp as cats generally prefer to use dry soil.

Keep a spray bottle of water handy and if you see the cat in the area, give it a quick squirt with water. Don’t drench the cat – just a quick one-second squirt is usually enough to deter it.

WARNING

Many people have recommended a heavy sprinkling of chilli powder, pepper or cayenne pepper on the area. While this may well keep the cat away, it actually gets up their nose and in their eyes (via their paws) and burns them. This is extremely cruel and has been known to cause terrible injuries as the cats try to stop the stinging. Please DON’T USE this method.

Similarly, other forms of insect repellents (eg. mothballs), poisons and laxatives are very cruel and may cause the cat a lot of pain before slowly killing it.

Remember, the cat is only doing what comes naturally. It just needs a little guidance and education and training.

If you want a long and happy relationship with your pet, you must be prepared to provide the animal with more than just food, water and a pat on the head. Important as those elements are, taking care of your pet is vital to their health and there are many levels of pet care. Follow these guidelines for total pet health so you and your pet will enjoy a healthy relationship for many years to come.

Pet Dental Care

Brushing your pet’s teeth is as important as brushing your own. Good oral hygiene for dogs, cats and other pets prevents tartar buildup and periodontal disease, either of which can lead to a variety of health problems. The key to healthy teeth and gums is to start when the animal is young and be consistent with the pet dental care routine throughout the animal’s life.

Oxyfresh’s Pet Gel is a soothing blend of Oxygene® with Aloe Vera to heal, condition, and deodorize your pet’s mouth. The exclusive Oxygene® formula neutralizes the germs that cause bad breath with a powerful, non-toxic oxidization process that works like nothing else to completely eliminate odors at their source.

Pet Ear Care

Pets, especially dogs and cats, are prone to ear infection and ear mites. Both afflictions are treatable and steps can be taken to cut down on the number of times your pet suffers with these types of ear problems. The best pet ear care an owner can provide is to keep your pet’s ears clean and dry, and give the ears a quick inspection during daily grooming sessions. If your pet is frequently shaking his head side to side, scratching an ear or attempting to rub an ear on the floor, those are signs of an ear issue that needs checked out.

Oxyfresh Ear Cleaner is effective at rapidly and comfortably removing oils, waxes and organic debris while the proprietary ingredient Oxygene® safely eliminates odors leaving your pet with a clean, comfortable fresh ear. Many other brands use alcohol that can damage otherwise healthy skin in the ear canal, and slow-acting surfactants that need significant time to work and can leave an undesirable coating behind.

Pet Eye Care

Redness, matting, watery eyes or swelling around the eyes indicates your pet has a problem with one or both of their eyes. It could be a minor irritation or something more problematic. Prevent small eye issues from becoming chronic by providing your animal with pet eye care. Inspect eyes daily, keep surrounding fur clean and dry and provide protection and treatment when needed.

Pet Coat Care

The type of coat your pet has will determine the type of pet coat care required to maintain a healthy coat and skin. Daily brushing or combing with an occasional bathing will keep most pet coats shiny and healthy. Hair cuts for long haired animal breeds will make daily coat maintenance easier and applying sun screen to pets with thin to no hair will prevent sunburn to the animal’s skin.

These are just a few tips to help create a long lasting healthy relationship between you and your furry friends. If you notice severe problems with your pets, always call your veterinarian to get the issue diagnosed and taken care of right away. By doing as described above, your pet will be much happier in life!

Being allergic to your pet can really put a damper on how much you enjoy it. Using an air purifier to reduce the allergens that often cause problems is an effective solution. Here are 4 reasons that everyone with a warm-blooded pet needs one.

Hair

Petting a dog, cat, rabbit or other cuddly pet can result in hair on you, your clothes, the furniture, and on the floor. And even though hair isn’t the actual allergen (the dander is), the fur often has pieces of dander stuck to it. Anyone who is sensitive to these dead skin flakes can react by sneezing, coughing, congestion, watering eyes, and in some cases a throat that begins to close.

Dander

This is the result of a natural process where old and often damaged skin is constantly being replaced by newer, healthier skin that is more able to defend the body against disease and infection. These small flakes are invisible to the human eye because they are microscopic in size. But the protein they contain can cause allergies and asthma to flare and the constant contact can also present as on-going symptoms that seemingly never go away. Both of these effects are likely to be minimized with an air purifier that can effectively reduce the amount of dander with which you come in contact.

Odor

Those of us who love pets often become use to the distinct smell that our pets have. As pet owner you may not find this smell unpleasant, but others who come to your home may not feel the same way.

An air purifier which contains a carbon filter is an excellent choice for this kind of smell. Carbon has long been known for its ability to remove gases, odors, and chemicals, and it can take out the animal odor that often lets others know there are pets even before they see them.

Urine

This ranks right up there with one of the worse smells there is. Chemicals like ammonia that off-gas from it can single-handedly cause an asthma flare-up. Even with careful cleaning, urine smell can continue on, especially if moisture is. Allowing an air purifier to run 24 hours a day means that the air is always fresh-smelling regardless of the mistakes your pet has made that day.

Sharing your life with a warm-blooded pet means that you will probably encounter all of these issues at some point. Using an air purifier that is equipped with filters to handle all of the above issues can allow you to enjoy your pet and a home that looks and smells fresher and cleaner than it would without one.

Oxyfresh Air Purifier H2 use powerful lamps to produce ozone. Other systems generate ozone from metal plates that corrode quickly and are expensive to replace. With Oxyfresh Air Purifier H2, you get a combination of UV germicidal light, ozone and ionization in one single, effective package.

Best ways of grooming your cat

Cats are by nature fussy and clean animals. You can see them always licking their fur to make it clean and always in proper place. However, even the fussiest cat needs little grooming most especially those having long hair.

Grooming your pet cat is also a great way to create bond between the pet and the owner. It is also a good time to check your cat’s body for any possibility of skin and coat problem such as cat shedding.

Make your cats get used to regular hair brushing and combing while they are still young. Constant combing will remove dead hair and irritating knots as well as lessen the hair swallowed and smaller amount of hairballs.

Brushing your cat’s hair should be done twice on a weekly basis, while cats with shorter hair can be brushed even only once per week. There are grooming tools specially designed for combing your long haired cat, however, the most important is brushing them as required. For shorthaired cats, there is a type of brush which will be recommended by your vet.

Ways of Grooming your Cat

Brushing

Brushing is a very important grooming technique. Brushing ensures that your cat’s coat is shiny and clean at all times. When the fur of your cat is not tangled, just brush her hair for at least five minutes. Most cats like having their hair brushed. If your pet is not comfortable with it, just let her go but you need to try again until she’ll get used to it. There is more time required in brushing longer haired cats. If there are tangled masses of fur, careful and patient brushing should be employed. To prevent pulling the hair and hurting the cat, hold the fur below the tangles while brushing. When your cat’s hair is really stubborn, it will be wise to take her to professional grooming shop. Cat shedding can also be prevented when the pet is given the proper nutrition.

Bathing

Unless the cat is really dirty or have skin allergies, shorthaired felines do not require bathing. For cats with long hair, regular bathing is important to maintain the good condition of her coat as well as prevent grease build-ups. There is a special shampoo intended for cat that your vet can recommend. Also, pet specialists can give you some pieces of advice on proper bathing. Most cats are not keen on bathing because they don’t usually like getting wet. However, you can make the task easier by having a shampoo and towel nearby for quicker bath time. If you cannot manage the cat alone, ask someone to lend you a hand during the cat’s bath time. Before you give your cat a bath, make sure that tangles in her hair are removed by combing them first. Tangled hair can shrink and tighten when they get wet. If you will bathe your cat in the tub, make sure to fill the bath first with water prior to bringing her in. Noise and water motion can cause agitation in cats that can also make bath time a hard task. Make sure that the water in the bath is only filled up to the cat’s belly. Test the temperature of water to ensure that it’s not too hot. Instead of the bath tub, you can prepare soapy warm water in one pan and another one for rinsing. The amount of water should be just enough for a brisk bath. Don’t pour the water directly to the cat’s head or submerge her in the water. During the bath, your cat will sometimes howl, but she’s perfectly fine. It’s just a sign of surprise and perhaps she’s a little frightened. Once you’re done with the bath, wrap her gently in a towel and hug her for a moment. This will give her feeling of assurance. It is also a form of bonding between you and your pet.

Ear Cleaning

Every pet is different, but many of them suffer from a common health problem we are often not aware of : ear infections. You should clean your cat’s ears twice a month at least. You should be very gentle when you try to clean your cat’s ears. Research shows that complications involving the ear are the leading health issue for dogs and rank eighth among our furry feline friends. Yet, this condition is preventable.

Despite the discomfort, our pets can’t tell us when there’s a problem. Be on the lookout for these telltale signs:

Shaking of the head or scratching at the ears

Discharge from the ears, especially if it is moist

Abundance of wax in the ears

Odor from the ears

Red or painful ears

Swollen ears

Head tilt Problems with balance

Nail Trimming

The nails of a cat can be very dangerous both to your skin and to your furniture. This is the main reason why it is very important that you trim your cat’s nails on a regular basis. Unfortunately this is one grooming procedure most cats do not like at all. This means they will be fighting at all times whenever you try to trim its nails. Do not force your cat when it does not want to. Being able to trim one or two nails is already good enough.

If possible start training your cat to have her claws trimmed as a kitten. Gently stroke your cat’s paws often, getting her used to having her paws held before you attempt trimming. Be sure to reward your cat with a special food treat – one that she receives only during claw trimming or some other grooming procedure-during or immediately after trimming. The best time to trim your cat’s claws is when she is relaxed or sleepy. Never try to give a pedicure right after a stressful experience or an energetic round of play.

Have you ever had an injured pet, or wondered exactly what you would do to provide pet emergency care should it become necessary? When your pet is injured, the first thing you will want to do is comfort him in a calm manner. Keep in mind that if your pet is badly injured, he is likely to be scared and confused, so be careful to avoid being bit or scratched. Read the following tips to ensure you are prepared to provide pet emergency care should the situation arise:

• All Injured Animals Can Bite
Never assume that even the gentlest pet will not bite or scratch. Pain and fear can make animals unpredictable and sometimes dangerous.

• Take Caution
Don’t attempt to hug an injured pet, and keep your face away from its mouth. Trying to get close to the animal could scare him or amplify the pain.

• Be Gentle
Perform any examination slowly and gently and stop if the pet becomes agitated. If you have to move the animal, do it extremely slowly and carefully. If your pet seems aggressive, it may be best to leave him alone until you can get help.

• Get a Hold of the Vet
Call your veterinarian or emergency veterinary clinic before moving your pet. That way they will be ready for you before you arrive. You can ask the vet for any advice on how to take care of your pet’s injury.

• Consider Muzzling
You may consider muzzling your pet if he is not vomiting to reduce your chances of being bit. If you don’t have an actual muzzle, you can use towels, stockings or gauze rolls for dogs. Cats and other small animals can be wrapped in a towel to restrain them. If you wrap them, make sure they have room to breathe.

• Take Care of Injuries
If possible, try to stabilize injuries before moving the animal by splinting or bandaging them. Again, if your pet is being aggressive you may want to wait until you get further instruction from a veterinarian.

• Transport Safely
While transporting your injured pet, keep it confined in a small area to reduce the risk of additional injury. Pet carriers work well, or you can use a box or other container.

• Be Prepared
Even if your pet has never been injured, you should always be prepared for this type of situation. Keep bandages, pet carriers, muzzles and your veterinarian’s phone number on hand. When you have these things ready, pet emergencies will go more smoothly if they happen.

By following all of these steps, you should be able to provide standard pet emergency care and get your pet safely to a medical professional. The key is to take caution and be careful; all animals have the ability to bite and scratch when they’re hurt, even if they’re usually calm and gentle. Hopefully you never have to provide pet emergency care, but if you do, be prepared ahead of time.

One product I would use for emergency is the Oxyfresh Pet Gel. The deodorizing effects of Oxygene® make this gel an essential part of your pet’s oral hygiene routine. It helps to reduce healing time for cuts, burns, scrapes, sores, surgical incisions and even oral wounds. Contains a film-forming ingredient, which protects injured tissue by keeping it moist and providing a healing environment.
Chamomile and Aloe Vera help to soothe and reduce inflammation. Safe to use directly on open wounds and abrasions.

Anyone who’s ever suffered with the stress and discomfort of toothache or problems with their gums will empathize with the poor dog who, after all, has only got his mouth as a means to pick things up, communicate, eat and even play – when all is not well with their teeth.
Dog gum disease is not only a more serious health problem than many people are aware of it, the fact that it can quite easily be prevented in the first place means us dog owners should pay enough attention to what’s going on in our dog’s mouth to spot the signs and early symptoms of dog gum disease.

Are Your Dog’s Gums Are Turning Very Pale In Color? Be Warned, It Could Be Serious…
Dermatologists place a high value on paleness because the less sun you get, the lower your risk for skin cancer. Veterinarians, however, have always preferred the color pink – at least when they are looking at your pet’s gums. When the gums change from bubble-gum pink to pale, oxygen is probably in short supply, and there is an internal problem that needs to be taken care of.

Healthy Dog Gums
Pale gums usually mean that a pet doesn’t have enough red blood cells, a condition called anemia. Anemia is serious because red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. When there aren’t enough of them, oxygen levels fall, and pets get weak and tired.
Parasites are one of the most common causes of anemia. Dogs and cats produce just enough red blood cells to stay healthy. When fleas, hookworms, or other blood-sucking parasites are drinking their fill, there may not be enough blood to go around. Pale gums may be a sign of internal bleeding, resulting from ulcers or even cancer. Internal bleeding that goes on long enough can also cause anemia.
The light-coloured gums can also be caused by a serious condition called autoimmune hemolytic anemia, in which the immune system mistakenly destroys red blood cells. This type of anemia may be hereditary, with cocker spaniels, Shetland sheepdogs, collies, English springer spaniels, Old English sheepdogs, Irish setters, and poodles having the highest risk.

Finally, anemia may be a side effect of medications. Drugs such as estrogen, chloramphenicol (an antibiotic), and phenylbutazone (taken for pain) may inhibit the blood marrow from producing red blood cells. Dogs that are taking aspirin for pain will sometimes develop ulcers and internal bleeding.
Pale gums don’t always mean that your pet has anemia. After a serious accident, for example, blood pressure can fall to dangerously low levels because the heart is so busy pumping blood to vital organs that it neglects more-distant regions like the gums, toes, or the tips of the ears. This drop in blood pressure and the resulting pale gums mean that a pet is going into shock and needs emergency care.
Giving pets a balanced diet will help them recover from many forms of anemia. Your vet may recommend putting your pet on a prescription diet that is high in minerals, protein, and vitamins. Don’t give pets iron supplements without your veterinarian’s advice because they can be toxic.

Even though anemia can be dangerous, it is usually not that difficult to restore the red blood cells to healthful levels. Pets that are plagued by fleas, for example, will often recover within three to four days once you get rid of the little pests. Since anemia can make pets very weak, however, it is a good idea to avoid flea dips, powders, or other strong medications.

Bad Breath in Dogs: Could Gum Disease Be The Problem?
If your dog has bad breath, it could signal the sign of disease. Have your dog checked by a veterinarian as bad breath can be the earliest – and most easy to detect – early warn sign of canine gum disease.
Foul Breath, Plaque, & Gingivitis: All of these become more common in older dogs, especially if you have not taken care to keep your dog’s teeth clean throughout his life. Regular dental checkups may be necessary to ensure that any serious problems are quickly treated but by regularly brushing your dog’s teeth you can actively avoid problems in the first place.

Bad Breath: Can it Actually KILL Your Dog?
If you dog has foul smelling breath, deal with it now.
Bad breath in dogs is more common in older pets because the tartar builds up over the course of a lifetime unless you have the dogs teeth cleaned regularly. Now, when I need to cure bad breath in my dog, I know what to do. the first step is a visit to the veterinarian to have the dog’s teeth examined. A veterinarian can assess the condition of the dog’s teeth and confirm that this is where the odor is coming from (it’s important to rule out other health problems that can cause an odor on the breath). Your veterinarian can also advise you as to what steps you should take, based on the degree of tartar and periodontal disease.
I’ve found that it’s easier to prevent than to cure bad breath in my dog. You can give this product a try, it’s Oxyfresh Pet Deodorizer and Oxyfresh Pet Gel to reduce bad breath and promotes healthy gums for your dog.

Gum disease in dogs can not only make your dog’s life a misery, they can actually die from complications. Help your dog avoid gum disease by regular brushing, frequent gum treatment vet checks and feeding them a healthy diet that’s good for their teeth and overall health. Canine gum disease is an overlooked yet potentially deadly dog health problem.

“The build up of plaque and tartar on your dog’s teeth can lead not only to oral health problems like gum disease and tooth loss, but also the bacteria harboured in plaque can enter the bloodstream and may cause damage to major organs like heart, liver or kidney disease.”

How to Brush your Dog’s Teeth
Regular brushing of your dog’s teeth will help prevent poor oral health. This is easy to do and doesn’t take long:-
• Choose a time when both you and your dog are both feeling relaxed.
• For the first few days hold your pet as you would when petting them, while gently stroking the outside of the cheeks with your finger. Do this daily for about a week.
• After your pet has become comfortable with this, the next step is to buy pet toothpaste, such as the Oxyfresh Pet Gel which can be used as pet toothpaste.
• DON’T use human toothpaste or baking soda as they contain ingredients which should not be swallowed.
• You also need to buy a pet toothbrush, such as the Oxyfresh Triple Pet Toothbrush. It is designed to make brushing quicker, easier and more effective.
• When brushing is not practical, pet gel may be recommended, e.g. Oxyfresh Pet Gel.
• At first, place a small amount of toothpaste on your finger to let your dog sample the flavour.
• Next, introduce your dog to the pet toothbrush. Put a small amount of pet toothpaste on the brush, gently raise your dog’s upper lip and place the brush against the outer side of an upper tooth.
• With a slow, circular motion gently brush only that tooth and adjoining gum line.
• Each day gradually increase the number of teeth brushed trying to ensure you don’t go beyond your dog’s point of comfort.
• Build up to about 30 seconds of brushing per side.
• Always reward with lots of praise or a play session after each tooth brushing experience.

Diet also affects your dog’s Oral Health
Soft or sticky foods may contribute to plaque build up, so try and give your dog a dry food diet. Dry foods, like biscuits or the newly formulated abrasive diets are recommended as they can help remove plaque and food debris from the gum line where bacteria flourish. However, it should be emphasised that brushing is the only way to remove plaque and food debris from below the gum line.
If you follow an oral hygiene plan for your dog you’ll soon put a beautiful smile on their face and add years to their life.

Why all the fuss about the life stages of pets? That was the first that came to my mind when the idea was suggested to me by the vets. At different life stage, the pet is given different emphasis during health screenings and the insurance coverage will also change according to the needs.

Isn’t it obvious that dogs and cats are similar to humans? During the baby stage, we have no teeth and our digestion system is not fully functional yet. We can only drink milk and eat soft baby food. We can’t see clearly, walk properly, control our bowel movements and our heads are disproportionately larger in relation to our body. Gradually, our set of milk teeth is being replaced by a permanent set. Then we reach adolescence and our body size also grows together with newly activated hormonal glands. Our minds can barely keep up with with the pace of our physiological development during the teenage years. This is also the time when most people start to be more aware of and become interested in the opposite sex. Soon, adulthood sets in and some of us will marry whilst some of us will have children. Then old age sets in, teeth began to fall off and we go back to eating pulp and finally the inevitable…death.

People may be aware of their own changing needs in accordance to their age, but many never realized that it is very important to understand life stages of cats and dogs. The life stage concept plays an important role in pet healthcare management. By having this concept embedded in a pet healthcare management program, the program will empower pet owners to manage their pets better. Pets at different life stage will have different physiological and psychological needs. The main areas that will evolve as our pets go through their life stages are diet, accessories, healthcare, training and activities (for dogs). We also need to adjust our attitude and care as our pets get older. Generally there are three life stages of dogs and cats. Below is a general pet care guide showing the three life stages and some examples of things pet owners need to be aware of during each stage. However, each individual pet is different and may reach the different life stage at different age. Larger dogs may reach senior life stage earlier than smaller breeds.

Junior Life Stage / Start of Life (birth to 12 months old) :-

A healthy start early in life will help the pet stay healthy and reduce medical problems later in life. The vet’s recommended to-do list includes vaccination and parasite control, microchipping or identification, dental checks and oral hygiene, obtain good nutrition advice for healthy growth, consider neutering and enrol in social classes (for dogs only). Puppies are usually the ones at their most impressionable stage and this is the best time to train them for the beginning of a lifelong of good pet care habits.

Adult Life Stage / Maintenance Life Stage (1 to 6 years old) :-

Good and healthy routines will ensure the pet leads a good quality life. Annual examination will help prevent and identify medical problems at an early stage. Booster vaccination, suitable diet, regular exercise and balanced dose of attention will keep pets healthy and happy. Pet owners should seek professional help to establish suitable on-going wellness routines for their pets. Training program for adult dogs will emphasize on impulse control, leadership and agility.

Senior Life Stage / Golden Age Life Stage (7 years old and beyond) :-

During senior life stage, pets will be susceptible to age related diseases. Careful management of these diseases can vastly improve the pets’ life span and quality of life. Diseases that are often diagnosed at this stage are arthritis, heart disease, cancer, dental disease and kidney disease. Trainings should be conducted according to the dog’s ability. Pet owners need to be aware that their pets may have reduced sensory input, loss of vision and hearing, and just like humans, suffers stiffness or pain at the joints.

Oxyfresh’s Pet Digestive Aid is enriched with FOS—a food catalyst for good bacteria—which promotes the growth of friendly cultures, restoring “good bacteria” to your pet’s digestive tract.

This gentle formula helps to improve nutrient absorption for optimal nutrition and increased resistance to disease and infections.

Recommended daily to normalize bowel function, especially in older pets or those with canine parvovirus.

Is there any smell more noticeable than that of a stinky pooch? Unfortunately, many pet owners overlook how important dog grooming is to the good health of our pets. The reason why it is commonly not done is because giving bath to a big dog especially is quite a challenge. The trick is getting your dog to put up with and even enjoy it. Something that many owners lack experience in is the best way to wash their dogs. Here are a few pet care tips which can hopefully provide you with some ideas on how to be properly prepared the next time you decide to give your dog a bath :-

Rinse your dog off with water for several minutes, making sure to get under the coat.

Once your dog is fully soaked, turn the water off and lather your dog with shampoo. Massage in the shampoo completely and either let it stand or continue to rub in for about five minutes to get rid of fleas or ticks.

Once your dog is soapy, turn the water back on and rinse your dog off. Use your hands to rub out all the watery soap.

After your dog is soap-free and wet, use a towel to get all the surface water off. It may be hard or impossible to completely dry your dog with just a towel, especially if your dog has a thick coat. Try letting your dog shake off some of the water for a few minutes. If you can, it helps to take your dog for a walk afterward, or if you feel like it, a jog.

Washing a big dog can be hard on your back, and may take some time. Try to have the dog turn instead of constantly having to move around it, and have the dog stand when you’re washing the back so you don’t have to bend over as far.

It can make a pretty big mess if you’re washing a big dog in your bathroom, so it might be a bit more wise to do it outside with water hose.

Along with regular grooming and bathing, keeping your pet’s ears clean is a vital part of ensuring your pet is healthy and happy. Checking your pet’s ears at least once a week will make certain that they are kept healthy and that any infections that develop are quickly detected. Dirt and wax build up in your pet’s outer ear and ear canal can cause infections, hearing loss and discomfort. Dirty, excessive wax is also a haven for ear mites which will require a visit to your veterinarian to eradicate.

A pet’s ear is supposed to be pale pink in color and free of any foul smells. It’s ok to carefully remove wax and dirt buildup occasionally with an ear cleaning solution. Buildup can easily occur without you being aware of it, and your first sign of a problem may not become evident until your pet has difficulty hearing your call or displays excessive scratching or rubbing around the ears. Preemptive, routine measures such as using an alcohol-free ear cleaner is the best way to make sure your pet’s ears are healthy.

Oxyfresh’s Pet Ear Cleaner gently loosens dirt and wax from your pet’s ear with a unique Oxygene bacteria-neutralizing solution that’s soothing, safe, deodorizing and alcohol free. Routine cleaning will ensure that your pet’s ears are healthy – and avoid expensive visits to the veterinarian.

Recommended use : Put 10 to 15 drops into each ear and massage the ears at the base. Let your pet shake its head, then wipe the remaining debris from the inside of the ear. You may repeat this procedure daily or weekly until no more debris is found. Use as needed.

Looking for a premium product that can protect and promote your pet’s health both externally and orally? Multi-use Pet Gel has got you covered. This odorless and tasteless gel is formulated with the exclusive ingredient Oxygene® to cleanse and deodorize, as well as aloe to provide soothing relief. It’s safe and effective on open wounds and can also be used to promote healthy gums and fresh breath.

Top 5 reasons every pet owner needs Oxyfresh Pet Gel

1. You love to cuddle, but hate bad breath
As much as we adore our pets, most of us abruptly turn our heads when our furry friend emanates a big cloud of dragon-like doggie breath as they happily greet us. Fortunately, we can take the fire out of the dragon breath by rubbing Oxyfresh Pet Gel along the margin of our pet’s gums. In minutes, our odor-neutralizing ingredient Oxygene® works its magic to freshen your pet’s breath so you can snuggle to your heart’s content.

2. Preventing dental disease can extend your pet’s life
Doggie breath can be more than just an annoyance. Much more. It is often a sign of periodontal disease, the most common dental disease. An alarming 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over age three suffer from periodontal disease. Called the “Silent Killer of Pets,” it can cause bacteria to enter the bloodstream and infect the heart, liver, and kidneys — shortening your pet’s life by up to five years! Pet Gel’s Oxygene® destroys bacteria in the mouth, helping to reduce the formation of plaque and tartar that can lead to periodontal disease.

3. Sore gums can be a real drag for your pet
Pets get sore gums just like we do. We want to give them relief but there just aren’t many products available that are safe enough to use in a pet’s mouth. These include products with dyes, unsafe chemicals and other ingredients that might prove to be toxic over time. Whether the gum irritation is from cutting baby teeth, an injury, periodontal disease, inflammation, or some other gum condition, Pet Gel safely delivers soothing relief with a powerful combination of aloe vera and chamomile.

4. Nothing’s better for skin irritations
In our pets, “hot spots” are localized moist skin irritations seen primarily during the warm moist months. These cause intense itching and discomfort. Pets with wrinkly skin — like on the faces of Bull Dogs and Pugs — are especially prone to these hot spots in deep, hidden folds of skin. This is also common around the base of the tail. Pet Gel soothes and helps dry these problem areas while dramatically improving your pet’s comfort level.

5. You never know what your pet will get into
Pet Gel is an extremely handy general purpose first aid cream that can also be used externally. You can use it for minor cuts, scratches, insect bites, minor burns, sunburns, abrasions, sore feet and more. It gives relief while promoting fast healing. Many ointments and creams made for human skin lack the safety factor of Pet Gel. These can be toxic if swallowed and have also been known to cause problems ranging from digestive upset to major organ failure. Pet Gel is completely safe and formulated to soothe, cleanse and deodorize.

Oxyfresh Pet Gel is in a class by itself. No other product is as versatile. That’s what makes it an essential product for every pet owner to have on hand. Great value, tons of uses, long shelf life, consistent results. Pet Gel has it all.
